Disable Wi-Fi Calling - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

I purchased a Global version 1+7P (GM1917) directly from OnePlus. Then I signed up for T-Mobile service.
I am having problems with calls coming in over Wi-Fi. However, in Settings under Wi-Fi & internet, there is no Wi-Fi calling entry, so I cannot find how to turn off Wi-Fi calling.
Is there another method for turning it off? A package I can disable? (I have root.)

I don't have the phone yet but look under mobile network or search in settings. On stock Android pie it's under the mobile network advanced settings

Under Settings -> Wi-Fi & internet -> SIM & network, there is Preferred network type, but that only set 2G/3G/4G. Nothing about Wi-Fi calling. I couldn't find anything called 'Mobile network'.

either install the new onepluslogkit app and *#800# into oneplus logkit/function switch/volte+vowifi switches on
This option will allow you to turn on/off as above. but in sim settings/ Sim1/Enhanced Communications
Or *#*#4636#*#* and turn off provisioning for volte/vowifi.

Tried the OnePlusLogKit, but the *#800# didn't bring up anything.
Tried *#*#4636#*#*, but when I toggled 'WiFi Calling Provisioned', it would "stick" - the Update button produced an error, and it reset on reboot.

That did it! I didn't realize there were more settings under SIM 1. The Wi-Fi Calling under it doesn't show up on searching in Settings. Thanks.

I hope one day wifi calling works with Verizon. The settings are greyed out

What kind of problems are you having with calls over wifi? I plan to use the 7pro on tmobile so I'm just curious

This may all be my misconstruing the problem. After turning off wifi call, I tried calling my wife (which was where I notice the problem), and we still couldn't hear each other. Yet when I call voicemail, I can hear it and I can change my announcement which shows that the phone does work both ways. Therefore, now I'm thinking that wifi calling was not the issue, and the fault is somewhere with t-mobile. The mystery continues.

The mystery deepens. Using Google Hangouts Dialer (which goes over wifi), calling my wife fails (nothing heard either way), but calling voicemail, again, works just fine. I just don't get it.

Thanks for this thread. I knew I saw that somewhere but forgot to check the SIM menu.
Why isn't it in settings search when even dev options are?
Why does TMO lie and way it is in the same spot as most phones, in their article specifically about the OP7p?
My issue in on a WiFi call, sometimes I can't hear them (but they can hear me), sometime from the call start other times mid-call, and turning off WiFi fixes it. I have 1000mb fiber and no other network issues. Too bad it doesn't work. Thanks for helping me disable it.

Wi-Fi calling feature not available in Android Oreo build

Hi Dev’s,
I update my MIA1 to android oreo. When I search for Wi-Fi calling feature in settings, I notice that it is displayed. However when I click on Wi-Fi calling setting, It doesn’t dispaly under the Advanced Wifi settings.
My carrier supports Wi-Fi calling feature and I have it enables on my number. When I place the sim card in a iPhone, Wi-Fi calling works flawlessly. However it is not working in Mi A1 android oreo build.
Please can anyone help me get the setting activated on my mobile. I tried resetting the phone to factory settings, but I still don’t have the setting enabled.

Hi Yash,
Thanks for the reply.
I did search in the settings as suggested by you. I am able to see the Wi-Fi calling feature displayed in the search. However when I try to open the setting, it doesn't display. Please could post a screenshot of the setting from your Mi A1 mobile.

I can confirm that Wifi calling on Jio is not active yet on any network (JioFi's wifi calling is something else so please don't bring that up) as on date. I have tried this on a Mi A1 also which supports Wifi calling out-of-the-box.

WiFi calling isn't available at any TSP. ( In india)
I once tried to call someone when connected to WiFi. There was a pop up to enable wifi calling. I enabled it from there. Since then it didn't appear again. Also I can't test whether it's working because my carrier doesn't support wifi calling

Wifi calling enabled but not working (VZW+Airplane mode)

Trying to test the feature before I go overseas. Wifi calling is enabled, HD voice/advanced calling enabled. When I check the hidden menu in *#*#4636#*#* everything is checked.
I turn on airplane mode and enable wifi. When I try to make a call, the dialer says "turn off airplane mode or connect to a wireless network to make a call". I am connected to Wifi though and signal strength is solid. What is the problem?
You rooted? Don't know if that really matters but, I had use adb to edit the settings database. I never could get it to work till I did that. No root needed. Just Google wifi calling preferred ADB.

I am aware of that guide for ADB. However that is for preferred WiFi calling when both cellular and WiFi are available. It shouldn't help when I'm in airplane mode.

Had same problem with Verizon Wifi calling, fixed it
I had the same problem on my OG 2016 Pixel (rooted) running stock 7.1.2 ROM on VZW, but now fixed - here are the steps:
1. Open Testing Menu (dial *#*#4636#*#* on dialpad).
2. tap the "Phone information" menu.
3. Toggle on the "VoLTE Provisioned" slider (this was toggled off by default on mine). (Also make sure "Wifi Calling Provisioned" is toggled on.)
4. Using the Quicksettings dropdown menu, toggle Airplane Mode.
5. IMPORTANT NOTE - When I tried the 1st time it didn't work because entering Airplane Mode greyed out Wifi icon and disabled all Wifi connections (and data icon showed "no service"), even though Wifi was previously toggled on.
6. To remedy this, drop down your Quicksettings menu again and simply touch the Wifi connections shortcut, wait a couple seconds and all Wifi connections will repopulate, and default Wifi connection should re-connect.
7. Now hit the back button to the Quicksettings dropdown menu, wait another couple seconds and the data icon should change to "Verizon Wireless Wi-Fi Calling" - Wifi calling should now work

I appreciate the suggestion. I had tried toggling all those options previously but I did it again per your instructions. It did not work.
My quicksettings text goes from "Verizon Wireless" to "Airplane mode" when it is enabled. Then when I put WiFi back on it goes BLANK. It does not say "Verizon Wireless WiFi Calling" like yours did. Any ideas?
I don't understand. I have a cellular signal and my wifi calling just stays on. All I did was change 2 values in the Database.

I guess I never caught that fact. Mine doesn't stay on all the time. But, as soon as I walk in my house it pops on. My wife has an S7 and I can't get hers to work unless I turn the cellular off. Evidently Samsung does not have the same settings database.

Perhaps a local router misconfiguration?

I've heard that a local Wi-Fi router mis-configuration may be the reason Wi-fi calling fails in some instances.
I would test it out on a different router, or have someone with a known good Wi-fi calling phone setup test on your router to eliminate that possibility.
I've also heard that Wi-fi calling breaks when upgrading to Oreo for some folks. Curious what Android version you're running?

I ran into the same issue, possibly after Magisk install on custom RR Rom (Marlin/Latest April Oreo build). It had worked one time but I guess installing Magisk was the most recent change I could think of after which it stopped working with the error message reported by OP. Anyways the only thing that worked was to do a "Network Setting Reset" , then setup Wifi (Airplane mode on) again and Wifi Calling settings back to On with Wi-Fi preferred.
Note: Also in "Mobile Network" in Settings, need to ensure "Roaming/Connect to data services when roaming" option is selected for the "Wifi Preferred" option to stick.

Pixel 2 XL shows internet disconnected when making voice calls on Sprint

Pretty much what it says on the can. If I'm in a voice call and flip over to email, or a browser, all I get is "ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED" and even apps like third party file browsers(Astro) that assume network connectivity to load ads or the like hang up because there's no data network available during voice calls. Once I end the voice call the internet connectivity comes right back and works fine to load the same sites or use the same apps that I wasn't able to use before.
This is a black Pixel 2 XL, unlocked, ordered directly through Google, with a Sprint SIM that I double-checked against the online discussions for compatibility. The device works fine in most other ways. The activation was clean and everything else seems to work.
When I'm at home and on my Wi-Fi I can use both voice and data to multitask, so this is something in how it's working with the carrier. I've tried the LTE(Preferred), 3G, and Global network types in the "Preferred Network Type" section of the "Mobile Network" options for my carrier.
I've looked through all the settings and can't see anything like "enhanced calling" which was the solution with the single-radio Samsung devices. Any ideas how to get the Pixel 2 to share the radio during voice calls?
Thanks,
Steven
I don't think Sprint has the backend to support VoIP and LTE at the same time. So that's probably just a network limitation.
Sprint has one antenna so there's.o voice and data at the same time like GSM. Sprint is CDMA been like that since 2014

Anyone enabled BT WiFi Calling with Pixel 3?

Has anyone been able to set up WiFi Calling using Pixel 3 on BT network (UK) ?
People report being able to do so with Pixel 1 and Pixel 2, but I just cannot get it working with my Pixel 3.
Anny advice/suggestions please?
Are you pay as you go or pay monthly?
That I'm aware of, Wi-Fi Calling is only available with EE and for pay monthly customers.
I know BT runs on EE network, but assuming it still works (which I'm not sure about), I would imagine they apply the same restrictions.
Anyway, I'm a EE PAYGo customer and still I do have the option to enable Wi-Fi Calling.
But still, I'm not sure it actually works.
Thanks matteventu, I am a monthly contract payer.
BT definitely DO offer wifi calling - but state that it is primarily iPhone and latest Samsung phones that they support.
Many report success with P1 and P2, so hoping P3 will be OK too....
I'm on EE contract and WiFi calling definitely works.

Just make a phone call. If you see the network switches to 3G/H, then you don't have VoLTE. If during the phone call you still see the 4G/LTE icon, then you have VoLTE.
(Of course, don't be connected to WiFi to make this test call if you also have Wi-Fi calling XD)
The question indeed is: how do I get proof my Wi-Fi calling works?
I know if you enable it in the settings, then if you go in Info on this phone you see that in "mobile network" that it's not connected to LTE/HSPA, but to "IWLAN" - that from I understood stands for Wi-Fi calling.
The question is. I can enable Wi-Fi calling in the settings, and I do see IWLAN as mobile network type for calls (in place of LTE/HSPA) if I'm connected to Wi-Fi. But does this ASSURE me that I'll be using Wi-Fi for calls? Because I am a EE PAYGo customers and according to their info, I am not supposed to be able to use Wi-Fi calling. So, because I have the options it means I am using it, or the option just shows for everybody and if I'm a PAYGo customer even if I have it enablerd, it won't actually work?
Does anybody can think of any test I can do to see if it works?
Thank you!

Ohhh I see. Then that's why I didn't know if it worked, because I never saw that "EE Wi-Fi Calling" and didn't even know it was supposed to be there with Wi-Fi enabled *and* actually working ?
Thank you, now I'm 100% sure EE stands to their terms lol and I have no Wi-Fi calling as PAYGo customer ?
Finally it works fine. I had to chat with BT Mobile and they had to activate it for me.

no volte option

I got the phone today, but I there is no volte option in setting. I had volte options in my oneplus 5t. Is there secret codes to force unable the option? I am on three UK sim.
Other way round for me.
On BT Mobile (and EE) UK I could never get 4G calling on my old XZ2. Xperia5 II plugged in sim and it was a notifications bar quick button and available in settings straight away.
Comes under:
Settings -> Network & Internet -> Mobile > Advanced > Calling
I have made few calls and it seem they were made over 4G because status bar icon didn't change from 4G to 3G so I guess I do have VOLTE enabled but I don't have option in setting.
Further more I checked the info section and the volte provision option is enabled and grayed out. I don't understand why I don't have option for volte but it works for don't care much about it now.
Edit = WiFi calling option is available in setting and it works too.
I have 4G Calling option available for my O2 sim and VoLTE for my Telekom sim. WiFi calling option is also there.
I only get VOLTE option on my UK 3 sim. On my Spanish O2 SIM it's not available (though I know for sure the service is enabled but only for certain devices)

Weird, I am using UK 3 SIM as well and I don't get option for volte but I am able to make calls over 4G. Don't know why is option hidden.
It is activated by standard if technically possible. There is no reason to deactivate it, so no switch is needed.
VoLTE/ Wifi calling are enabled by the operator. Maybe your operator has not certified Xperia 5 ii yet.
Check with your operator
4G Calling is actually VoLTE, so you have it and you are using it already as you stated above. No worries! ?

On BT Mobile (and EE) UK I could never get 4G calling on my old XZ2. Xperia5 II plugged in sim and it was a notifications bar quick button and available in settings straight away.
Comes under:
Settings -> Network & Internet -> Mobile > Advanced > Calling

Hi. I asked in another thread about WiFi calling working for the Xperia 5 II on BT Mobile. If 4G calling works then hopefully WiFi calling too?.
Can you confirm? Thx.

I should have clarified my previous post. The selectable option (quick button and menu) is to turn Wifi Calling on/off. VOLTE/4G calling is just fixed as provisioned. You can see this in the service menu (*#*#4636#*#*)
The service providers are clueless when you ask if they do or don't support Wifi/VOLTE calling.
So yes both available and working on BT Mobile.

That's awesome thank you. You might have just swung a sale for Sony. You should be on commission .
