Apps do not receive mic input but mic itself is in a working state - Google Pixel 3 Questions & Answers

Recently I am receiving a new error with my Pixel 3. If I use Google Assistant it works perfectly with my voice being recorded as well as keyboard voice input or any voice recorder. Thought when I use apps that require mic for live calls like Discord, Google Duo, Skype or Telegram they do not receive any input and sometimes they do not even provide any output. So basically I cannot talk and sometimes I cannot hear other people talking either.
This is extremely annoying. I am not even able to talk to people because of this. I used bluetooth headset and native pixel headphones during these calls and none of them worked properly.
Anyone ever stumbled upon anything like this? It seems like apps do not receive right permissions (even though I've manually set them) or something else software related. I do not understand how to Google this issue either, most issues are about mic being broken physically or something similar. Any suggestions? I appreciate your attention.

[Q] "Can't trigger Bluetooth Voice Dialing"..... ?

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2386468,00.asp
Any truth to this claim that the Sensation doesn't support bluetooth voice dialing? Close to a deal breaker for me...
Thought all phones can with google voice search installed?
:|
let's face it.. voice commands really do suck on Android to be honest. always takes several seconds to go to the cloud and back, and even then it's not quite right. Vlingo is a LOT better than Google's Voice Search when it comes to contact names.. but still so darn slow.
is there no app to just do voice recognition locally on the device, so that it's quick?
Android has its own native Bluetooth Voice Dialing app.... I connect my phone to my car stereo, press the button on my stereo, and it pulls up the Bluetooth Voice Dialer asking me to say a name..... at least thats how it was on my G2....
Hopefully Sensation has no problems in this area.... can someone who has a Sensation confirm or deny, please?
I can confirm that bluetooth voice dialing IS NOT functional for some reason. HTC needs to get this fixed ASAP.
This is a big deal... how have more people not complained about this?

[Q] phone capabilities with ICS?

Heya,
just wondering, will the Xoom have support for being a phone with ICS? Texts are said to work in HC with some hacks, so one can hope for more?

With Google Voice and an app like GrooveIP you can use the Xoom to make and receive voip calls as well as texts. Of course you need a wifi connection, and the Xoom is rather ridiculously large to use as a phone, but it does work. As far as making regular 3/4G calls, I wouldn't know.
I can use Groove IP and Google Voice to make calls over 3G/4G, although
I never do... I purchased Groove IP thinking that I would use it all the time.
I've used it twice. I keep it installed though and sometimes activate it. It's just not practical. Now Skype I use all the time.
For some reason I can't get Groove IP to send the audio to my Bluetooth headset, or use the mic from it either. I've tried a bunch of different settings and none of my combos have worked so far. Emailed the developer, but he hasn't had s solution either.
What sucks is that the caller on the other end hears an echo since their voice is coming out the speaker and going right back in the mic. When I muted the mic and the caller talked, they didn't hear the echo anymore. So if I could get my headset working with it, I'd actually be able to use the app...
On another note, any findings on tablet/phone interactions? I know this was touted as a big feature for ICS, but the only thing I've heard of is transferring files via wifi, like Apple's airdrop..

Record incoming and outgoing calls

Before i had a droid 3, it wasnt possible to record incoming and outgoing calls. I am owning a Photon Q 4g LTE now, and i was wondering if it works with this device or not?
I have Google Voice, which allows me to record incoming calls.
If you want to record any calls, I'd guess you'd need some sort of an app. There are a few... have you tried any of them?
This one I saw on the front page of xda-devs not too long ago.
There's a bunch on the Play Store as well.
There is also a module for Xposed Framework that allows you to record calls.

Indeed, there are a lot of recorders like that, mut some phones like the droid 3 dont support it. The S3 does support.
I have a Photon Q 4G now, and i was wondering if this phone supports it or not.. If you guyz have this phone, i would appreciate if you could install that app called "" in call recorder "" than go to settings of that app -call recorder settings-Audio Source, and select PHONE LINE.
now make phone call, if it works than i know enough..

Well I have this application, and when I have audio source set to PhoneLine only first couple of seconds is recorded correctly, then recorded voice becomes all squeaky and hardly understandable, but no impact on call quiality. When set to Microphone the other party does not hear me at all. I got a response from the author about my issue, he suggested to use Microphone and higher Gain Level, but I haven't tried it yet. When I do I'll post my results.
Unfortunately no help...
Might be a little non-trivial to set up however using Google-Voice adds the functionality to record calls to this phone..
It is a little tricky to get it working correctly with Sprint in general but well worth it! You can record, then access everything online including texting and calling (using your phones number and plan) from the web..
I know some people may not like using google for things like that but it just works so good...

T-Mobile Z3 (D6616) Speaker phone not working

Hello,
Recently I noticed that when I put a call on speaker, I can hear just fine, but the person on the other end can't hear me at all, and in some cases report a loud, windy noise. I don't understand what's causing this, as the normal phone works fine, the microphone records my voice clearly when using a voice recorder, and the video camera records sounds flawlessly.
Could this be an issue with the network? Or does the speakerphone use a separate microphone? Maybe the phone's hardware/software?

I have the same issue with a brand new Z3 from Tmobile as well. Guess what, so does my wife who ordered one on the same day!
The issue we have is that if you switch the phone to speakerphone, there's this crazy background noise that makes hearing someone completely impossible. I read on a different forum that the fix is to go to SETTINGS/CALL SETTINGS/ and turn off the Microphone Noise Canceler. While that does drop the noise out completely, the lack of a noise canceler means the other person can now hear themselves talking when on the phone with you.
I also tried another setting someone recommended which is called CLEAR+, but that sadly didn't have any effect at all.
Anyone else figured this out?
I know this post is old but I seem to have the same problem (minus the noise you guys describe). During an in ear call, the conversation is crystal clear both ways, it is when i place the call on speaker that the other end cannot hear me.
Searching for a solution, I came up with two (some say the OK GOOGLE works perfect, while for others it has no impact).
I have tried the OK Google 'fix' unfortunately, this did not work on my handset. Google app > Settings > Voice > OK Google Detection (switch off)
What seemed to "help" (didn't really fix the problem though) is going into Google Music app > Equalizer > Mic sensitivity > High
While the person on the other end can now hear me, it seems my voice is not too crisp and clear. Not sure what else to do in order to get the mic to work properly over speaker.

Question Problem with sound in voice calls in messengers after upgrade to Android 13

I have Samsung galaxy A32 5g ,model sm-a326u. A 2-3 weeks ago it received OTA upgrade to Android 13 Tiramisu. And after that upgrade i can't use any voice calls via WhatsApp ,Viber, Google voice, skype, Signal, etc. - anything that uses microphone and internet calls. The other side hears very distorted voice, not recognizable at all. When I use test calls on Skype I hear the same, totally unrecognizable voice (can't test in WhatsApp or Viber, there are no test call options). I thought that is a mic problem, but no, video or audio recording from camera works without problems, online mic tests are passed too. Regular phone calls are fine, but no Google Voice calls. Also, if i use any Bluetooth headphones (I tested 3 different), there is no sound coming from me in internet calls to other side.
Please help
Looks like people have all kinds of sound problems after Android update, reported here Samsung Community forum and here, and here
I tried a few things to fix this issue: clear the cache partition of the phone (doesn't help at all), reset all network settings (doesn't help at all). Only Factory data reset seems to fix it. But it is not the best solution, a lot of apps and data can't be easy restored after that.
I had same issue on various Android 13 roms. Trying different roms did NOT fix the problem.
The FIX is to
Disable Bluetooth A2DP hardware offload
Now all the messenger app's audio works perfectly!
Enjoy!
