Record incoming and outgoing calls - Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE

Before i had a droid 3, it wasnt possible to record incoming and outgoing calls. I am owning a Photon Q 4g LTE now, and i was wondering if it works with this device or not?

I have Google Voice, which allows me to record incoming calls.
If you want to record any calls, I'd guess you'd need some sort of an app. There are a few... have you tried any of them?
This one I saw on the front page of xda-devs not too long ago.
There's a bunch on the Play Store as well.

There is also a module for Xposed Framework that allows you to record calls.

Indeed, there are a lot of recorders like that, mut some phones like the droid 3 dont support it. The S3 does support.
I have a Photon Q 4G now, and i was wondering if this phone supports it or not.. If you guyz have this phone, i would appreciate if you could install that app called "" in call recorder "" than go to settings of that app -call recorder settings-Audio Source, and select PHONE LINE.
now make phone call, if it works than i know enough..

Well I have this application, and when I have audio source set to PhoneLine only first couple of seconds is recorded correctly, then recorded voice becomes all squeaky and hardly understandable, but no impact on call quiality. When set to Microphone the other party does not hear me at all. I got a response from the author about my issue, he suggested to use Microphone and higher Gain Level, but I haven't tried it yet. When I do I'll post my results.
Unfortunately no help...

Might be a little non-trivial to set up however using Google-Voice adds the functionality to record calls to this phone..
It is a little tricky to get it working correctly with Sprint in general but well worth it! You can record, then access everything online including texting and calling (using your phones number and plan) from the web..
I know some people may not like using google for things like that but it just works so good...

Voice Mail App

My telco charges a flat fee every single time i access the voice mail. However I do not get charged for incoming calls.
Hence I am wondering is there a voice mail app that does the following. (Keep in mind that i have free incoming calls and also caller-id)
1) The app picks up the phone call after a pre-defined limit of time.
2) The app plays a recorded message e.g "I'm not here right now. Please leave a message)
3) After the pre-recorded message finishes, the app starts recording.
4) After the other person hangs up, the app stops recording and saves the file.
5) Later on, I can play back the recorded message directly on my phone w/o having to pay the flat fee for using my telco's voice mail service.
Is there such an app?
EDIT: So in a way the app will act more like an answering machine
Why not just Google voice
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
because it still requires data right? and also its currently available only in the US and im in australia.
+1 for this kinda app! This kinda app would be useful.
+1
had it on nokia and it worked great.
Well, you can do that using Tasker.
But, Android security won't allow you to do no. 2
I tried that, to output audio to the "Call Stream", no joy.
Recording "Call Stream" is also restricted by the Android security.

We have the most advanced open source mobile operating system in the WORLD, and we can't do basic stuff like this ?! ?! WTF!

Yes. Android default might not allow it, but let's face it. Most of us on XDA run rooted android phones so wouldn't that allow us to do that?

There is an app that has the aforementioned functionality I think its called AirVoice (it requires root access). I tested it on my HTC Hero and it is able to pick up my phone automatically after the pre-defined time but then my phone reboots.
I have founf many apps that actually play their own voice messages how about allowing us to play our own. I`ve heard Motorola Milestone phones have more of a lockdown when it comes to recording calls

Do you mean that there is an app that automatically answer the phone call after X time, and plays a voice message? can you give me its name?
Threre is a program named call recorder free (by melon mobile) that can record a call from both sides. I don't see why nobody have ever implemented a voice mail program.
fact number 1 : there is a program that can record phone call from both sides.
fact number 2 : there are programs that can answer the phone automatically (with delay).
why isn't there a program that can act as a voice mail?
like it was said, Airvoice do it exectlly, but it is suitable for certain devices
is youmail not one of them? or does it use data also?

I was just going to mention Youmail. I used it for a while before deciding to go back to my carrier's voicemail. Once you set up your account on the site, you can use a preset greeting, or create your own. You can opt to recieve notification by email or text, and review voicemail from a desktop, or your phone by either calling in, or using the app. If you prefer visual voicemail, give it a try.

I think all who have contributed to this thread might have a look at the following Tasker profile created by member CoolJoseph96

I was doing the same quest for a long time.. As mentioned before, Google Voice is not an option (I live in the Netherlands, no support), Youmail idem dito (at least in the Netherlands).
Finally, I have found the little-heard-about app InstaVoice, which suits me great; good, reliable visual voicemail coverage in the Netherlands (with a free fix number forward service), voicemail messages, nicely sorted through app/ mail. Maybe off-topic for what You are looking for, but maybe worth to have a look at.. Their country coverage keeps going constantly.

App to record voice calls?

Is there an App that you can use to record phone calls? If so whats the best one? Im looking for something where I can save a few voicemail messages I have.
Google Voice allows you to record conversations and as an aftereffect it will record voicemails if you choose. Just have to hit the keypad 4 to start and again to stop. It does say "now recording call" so both parties can hear it.
There's apps out there that do an excellent job, but find out first what the privacy laws in your state say regarding the recording of phone calls. Wouldn't want to get you in trouble.
And some phones will not record the other party, you have to use speakerphone to get their voice on the recording. You may want to check if two-way call recording is supported on your phone. I know - at least for the Evo - that the only workaround is to flash a kernel that has it enabled.

I use "record my call": nice app (and +1' the "beware of legal issues"!).
Tried: doesn't work on DesireHD root/CoreDroid 9.2. Only from speaker.
Anyone, can you point me to an App that can do 2 way phone call recording for my device (not from the speaker)? Please?

[Q] Front Camera in Phone Calls

Alright guys, at the risk of sounding very, very, stupid, I have this question:
How do you utilize the front camera in phone calls?
My friend was doing a conference call on his iPhone the other day and I wanted to do the same, only to realize mid-call that I don't have a camera button available on the menu. Is it even possible to make video calls? I assume that this problem can be rectified via skype calls and such, but I'd like to see if there are any stock options first. You know, something like the iPhone.
Google talk built into the phone, but you would need both parties to have it to work.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
The video call feature on the iPhone is called Facetime, and only works via WiFi. So its actually less capable than Skype or (as mentioned above) Google Talk.
Try Tango video calls.

[Q] Wifi Voip w/o cell service

Hi to make a long story short me and my now ex broke up but she turned off my cell phone the same day, Bi***, but i still have my phone and i had previusly set up a google voice account with my old cell number and i can make phone calls but i need to be able to recieve call as well but cant so any suggestions that are either free or really cheap would be great thanks for reading
T-mobile has some low cost plans, and currently offering a free SIM kit. You will need to unlock the phone but that's easy to do... Several threads here on how to do it.

You can receive calls on your google voice number if you have Talkatone or GrooveIP....both very easy to set up. A more complicated option is Sipdroid and similar programs

Alright i have set up a pbxes.org and sipdroid account i am able to send and recieve calls but after a minite or so i cant use my default dialer anymore just says "to make a call turn off airplane mode" did that and now it says "network unavailable" i want to use the default dialer any suggestions
For those of you who want the best quality out of your $30 smartphone plan, I made a 12-part video tutorial showing how to do it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9DzN1Pu6-Q&list=PLE_de-PBwrTSUMm-Y48aiOOHt_YyT69t0
It's much better than GrooveIP, Vonage, Talkatone, Pbxes.org, and everything else, especially those with the "one big green button" solution.
This method gives you HD Voice (G.722 codec), bettery battery life, and much better options for logging/blocking/recording. You can even set up hold music. Yup, I said hold music.
It used to be difficult to set up until I made it as clear as the nose on your face in the video tutorial (with actual commentary instead of techno music).
Spread the word if you do it and it works out for you. I believe everyone deserves high quality and limitless VoIP WiFi/4g calling.
If someone is using Google voice to connect it seems like the easier solution may actually be better in this case because you can't get that higher quality audio on Google voice. Every person I have phone discussions with utilizes phone numbers vice PBX accounts. I guess the people here aren't average. However, I wouldn't even think about going down a route that would take hours unless I could use the resulting features often. If I am wrong about being able to use the higher quality audio with Google voice, please correct me.
It would be nice to have an app that used Google voice for phone calls and SMS but also had call recording ability. I live in a state where I don't have to tell the other party I am recording them (for the purposes of legal record) unless I am being polite.

Rooted Pixel 3 Users in the U.S.A., Please Answer a Question/Do a Test for me.

Hi,
I'm trying to figure what options there are for robust call recording apps on rooted Pixel 3's.
I'd like to know if a specific call recording application functions on Andriod Pie (or later) after rooting the device.
Here's the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appstar.callrecorder&hl=en_US
If those running a rooted OP6T would install the app and make a few calls I'd appreciate it.
Here's a number to Health and Human Services Office of Civil Right (all prerecorded menus; we won't bother anyone) to do test calls: (800) 368-1019
You may need to do some basic setup. Make sure call recording occurs automatically, or allow the overlay and manually engage the call recording.
For those willing to go to some effort, if at first the app doesn't work, the "Recording Settings" can be tweaked.
I don't know what the difference is between methods, other than that they change how the app tries to get voice data to record.
Can you hear both yourself and the the caller in the recording?
What recording settings were used?
What format did the recording save to (AAC/MP3/Wav?)
What is the sound quality of the recording?
Do any of the above change if you plug in a USB-C earbud/microphone or earbud/microphone attached via USB-C to 3.5mm/TRRS.
(note: bluetooth headsets have compatibility issues even on phones the app works; headset would need to be wired for this test, though info on Bluetooth would be nice if one is so inclined to provide it)
In the applications inbox for recordings, does the number or contact information show up, or is it listed only as "outgoing" or "incoming" call.
Alternatively, I'd be interested in any information/experiences rooted users may have with other call recording software. Such as Another Call Recorder - Unchained (https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/com.nll.acr). In particular, reliability and call recording quality (as good as 'the call').

I am not going to do all of that, but Boldbeast (paid) is probably your best bet for a nice high quality recording but it requires a bunch of tweaking on a pixel running android 10.
I had absolutely 0 issues using it with my P3 on android 9, but once upgraded to android 10 the only way to get it to work (even with a magisk module they recommended) means losing your "Hey Google" and "Now Playing" auto-detect music feature within the OS (both which I like). So its either stick with Android 9 and have 0 issues, or upgrade to Android 10 and deal with a bunch of BS trying to get the Boldbeast app recorder to work. Google in android 10 is trying to block anyone from using a call recorder all together, they just want it this way. So, I digress.
My previous phone running Android 8 (which I use as a backup) has the app you listed, "Automatic Call Recorder PRO" (paid version obviously) and functions like a dream but its not my daily driver.
If I ultimately had to record a phone call, I swap my sim into that phone and have a nice WAV/MP3 file saved in the cloud.
TLDR; I have no real answer for you
Supposedly Google is adding call recording into their phone app. I have not seen it yet.

"With Google Voice, you press a button to start recording the call and then a voice comes on and announces that the call is being recorded. Everybody can hear the voice, so everyone knows that the call is being recorded."
The whole point to using a recorder app is so that someone doesn't know they are being recorded (this is legal is certain states, such as mine).
With an announcement "You are being recorded" kind of defeats the whole purpose. Unless maybe you are trying to keep questionable people honest over the phone with a .mp3 file/proof.
Maybe a Magisk/root hack would be able to turn off this message if google so-chooses to embed it that into the app.

That's my conundrum as well. Legal for me to record. Moreover it's better to have an app automatically record all calls, and be able to organize them into a database with call notes to keep track of who and when. Half of my want to find a way to continue using the existing call recording app, is to preserve the existing database.
