hello
kindly help please

I don't know why nobody told you yet maybe they're off on vacation. Also, your question is not very clear. Are you looking to update the ROM for the HU or the MCU? First of you don't have an MTCD compatible MCU. The MCU string has to show MTCD or MTCE to be compatible.
As for updating the HU you would need to know what you hope to improve and in most case you can change things in other ways.

Volsmart, 5.1, RK3188, root?

Hey guys! Been out of the rooting game for a while now. All these locked bootloader nowadays has that effect. Thank God for the Chinese! I just ordered a android head unit for the car from Amazon :
Volsmart 7 inch Android 5.1.1 Car Stereo Lollipop Quad Core 1024600 Capacitive Touch Screen without DVD Player support GPS Navigation Radio Bluetooth OBD2 USB SD WiFi ScreenMirror Backup Camera https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FVV8U2M/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_5jF5xbJ1VW5C8
And I'm wondering what the root process is like for one of these. I'm not sure sure if I should be looking for this specific device, or just something generic based on the software version for instructions. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have Volsmart 5.1 Mtcd-kgl mcu version 1.75_1. If your Mcu version is older, you can ask the seller to give you the latest firmware.
You can use Malaysk MTCD ROM.
I used Malaysk Rom v5 and then upgraded to V6. My HU is running without issue. Malaysk ROM is a pre rooted ROM.
Make sure that you know how to get to recovery menu of the head unit.
Right after upgrading to Makaysk ROM, it is hard to get to recovery to clear cache and data. Keep trying several times, you will be able to. After this, getting to the recovery is normal.
If you don't want to use Malaysk ROM, use Kingo Root, just follow the Xposed LP thread under MTCB development. I did try it successfully before I used Malaysk ROM.
So basically it's just as simple as flashing a different rom, eh? Sounds a little too easy lol
Got it all installed over the weekend. Working great!

Hi guys
I bougth a head unit Volsmart android 5.1.1 for my Toyota Corolla 2009 at Amazon.com. I wrote directly to the vendor and they sent me an update with MCU 1.92.a1 dated in 10/16/2016, I let the link here. By the way I could not intall Malaysk because after doing the manual reset the head unit never found the Dupdate.img in the GPS car, I do not know why.
I'm sorry i could not write the link here because i'm new in the Forum
Thanks Ariel.

PX5 Oreo ROM

MTCD Oreo ROM Extract/Dump is here: ROM
An example of XDA teamwork - Thanks to:
 @ikerg
@xdamember2 @RedScorpioXDA
 @kumarai
Solution see post 159, thanks @kumarai
Process video again thanks to @kumarai
- note the approx 5 minutes of grey screen before "erase" is seen, proceeding first SDCard install of android 8 recovery files.
Team effort. Noted no BT with wd725 (integrated wifi/bt.)
Technical details of the 'Upgrade" - maybe useful in other upgrade scenarios:
- The Android 6 [update.img] [miniloaderall.bin] has been replaced with the Oreo [miniloaderall.bin] from the Oreo OTG ROM Extract.
- The modifed Android 6 update image is used to create a bootable SDCARD. containing the the Oreo Miniloader.
- SDCARD flashes the OREO Recovery images to NAND.
- With Oreo Recovery installed, .ZIP upgrade images can be installed.
Hi,
With resellers not proving a PX5 Oreo ROM image and no other member having OTG and as I have OTG and the jig/tools I could provide a ROM extract if the community provides a PX5 Oreo core board or complete unit.
Any supporters for either loaning a PX5 Oreo SOM or funding a complete unit?
If loaned I would extract ROM and return SOM within 2 days.

I will likely be able to loan a unit or SOM within a week or so. I noticed the SOM rev 8 (used in the Oreo hu) has more header pins than the earlier version though some may be blank. Is your hardware compatible?
A ROM Image has been availible here for almost a week now.

I'm a bit new to this. I see when I click the link there's an image and also a "download" button. If I download there's a jpeg sharp enough to read the silkscreen. (Unless Samsung is only allowing downloads to Samsungs?) I took the pic with my cellphone, I could also do one on the dslr.

I zipped the pic and now I should be able to attach it directly. Please let me know if higher res is required.
Does anyone know if the interface board provides better (i.e. multiple) USB ports now (i.e. not a single USB port split with a hub), and/or if the USB is better than the prior USB speed and power provided?
Ditto -- now Bluetooth 5.0?

Why would you say that ? My MM 4Gb RK3368/PX5 SoM is also rev8.0.
@marchnz you could try using MTCD ROM Builder (here, needs a Linux machine : https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...re-development/tool-mtcd-rom-builder-t3475444 ) to make an image using the files in the zip. Theres the option to use FUSE which may get a round any partitioning problems.
I use Linux so I can make an image if youve got somewhere I can upload it to.
Maybe I ll try it myself, its just the hassle of trying to unbrick it if it bricks.
EDIT: just re read that thread and see youve already posted in it and used it on your RK3368/PX5, not sure it would work anyway as I think it requires a proper image already, dont think it can make one from separate images.

To create the image we need the partition addresses....so..unless we got an update with the classic .img or we could dump it from an already MTCD px5 under android 8.
I am going to receive a 4gb/32 px5 board with preinstalled android 8...but I don't know how to do for my pc to recognize it in order to dump the software...(I did before for android tv under rk3288)
Any suggestion?

But would we need the partition addresses if we create a FUSE ROM ? - MTCD ROM Builder will make one big partition surely ?
I could try using an MM RK3368/PX5 image and adding the separate images from the Oreo update.zip.

KLD 3.01 firmware, good enough ?

Hi there
I noticed that a new 3.01 firmware has been released for the KLD MTCE units from here : https://yadi.sk/d/umCvHqCDzHccr/All dmcu for PX3, PX5, Intel Sofia3g/KLD
Did someone test it ?
It seems like Cs-x doesn't have patched it yet with his audio tweaks but has released a superior v3.06 version : https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...ent/mod-cs-x-mod-mtcb-c-mcu-firmware-t3816032
Will I be able to downgrade from v3.01 to v2.94 if the new v3.01 doesn't suit my needs ?
Thanks in advance,
Damien
Maybe a stupid question, but mcu KLD is the same for px3 and px5? If they are mtcd / e

I did successfully downgrade my MTCE KLD to 2.88 and return back to 2.94, also tested HA_3.01 firmware on KLD (there were issues, there is no point in doing it) and returned back to KLD after that.
The link you posted for Cs-x mods is for MTCB/MTCC, while MTCD/MTCE is not compatible!

Yes, MTCP. As far as i understand P - is for 8-channel audio. Maybe there are some other differences, but this is the one i'm aware of.
Can you please share what you have? i will try to check if it can be flashed on my HU.
Thanks!
I have a MTCE_HF with MCU v. 3.30 (the latest known on the net), but I suspect it's not compatible with your HU, but anyway you have already a v 3.30, even if it's a v. 3.30_1 (for MTCP?).
Hello everyone. I received an updated Firmware directly from seicane for their head unit. This is Android 10 update for the 2/32 GB unit. Everything seems to be working great so far on unit. If you would like to try it for yourself please feel free to download and install. I'm not too tech savvy so if you have any questions I'll answer them the best I can. Thought I would share for anyone to update their own unit if possible
PLEASE BE ADVISED YOU USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
I will not be held responsible for any damages done to your own unit.
Thank you!

I should also add that i cannot acceces my system settings, it requieres me to put in a 4 digit code, which i dont have. Factory reseting the unit didnt work either, it just restarts everytime i try. Is there anything i can do ?
Why MCU update. It's discussed in the forum, and you the a very up to date version - more recent than mine. Are you confusing MCU to Android?

What do you mean? Do you need the Android firmware or the low-level MCU firmware? And if you need the low-level firmware: what is your manufacturer id?
And don't put your email address in if you don't want to get spammed by all kind of mail bots. Besides: a 1.3 GB firmware can't be sent via email anyway.

choose the firmware according to the type of radio screen you have, I had flashed it by mistake on my radio which is a FYT NOR and not a FYT YIN (and on restarting the radio a warning green bar indicated that it was only for YIN).

Hey, i tried backing up my firmware with the guide you gave in your post, i plugged in my usb stick which does not have any other files than the backup files. Rebooted the thing, but it just startet like normal. Do i need to select a boot via usb stick ?
