Will this work on the $120 Verizon "unlocked" Z4? I don't see the Z4 listed in the list of compatible phones on that site, and it also makes a mention that Verizon doesn't often let people unlock their phones. Since I'm not on Verizon will that not happen? Or since it is a phone from them, even if I don't use them I won't be able to unlock the bootloader at all?

I guess that's part of the penalty you pay for getting the phone 75% off the unlockable price. Hope they're able to offer us some relief. I just want to run adaway.
Any past moto owners know when they unlock the bootloader?
I noticed that the z4 isn't on the link for bootloader unlocking but the other z series are. Does anyone know how long it typically takes motorlla to add a phone to the list?https://support.motorola.com/us/en/solution/MS87215

Motorola has never, to my knowledge, kept that list up to data or complete.
The only way to be sure is go through the unlocking request, to find out if your device's bootloader can be unlocked.

Have you (or anyone else reading this) purchased a phone before the bootloader unlock was released? Basically I am in a situation where I have to decide if I want this phone within a short timeframe, if it would get a bootloader unlock in the next few months I would be fine with it but if its going to take more like a year I would go for a different phone.
I have the unlocked Z4, and tried the Motorola bootloader unlock page. Successfully got a code, but haven't unlocked yet.

I also have the unlocked Z4 I went to the Motorola website got the unlock code. I am trying to root it and with all the bad thing i read about Kingo Root I did not want to use it. SuperSU and Magisk only show the installation with TWRP but when i try to download it does not have for the Moto Z4. Any ideas how to root? This is about the only site i found https://myphoneupdate.com/root-motorola-moto-z4/

Best to wait till someone builds a twrp for moto z, unlikely kingo would work anyways

Sorry, no idea. Since there seem to be very few sites that can be trusted, I usually wait for something to pop up here on XDA.
Sunshine (at theroot.ninja) worked great on my first-gen Moto X, but then I sorta lived with the full lockdown on the Z Force Droid until the Z4 came out. I've been hoping that Sunshine would get support for the Z4, but dunno if that's even possible.
I've seen various reports on wether Kingo (King?) Root works in general. Tried it on the ZFD without any luck, but also didn't notice any sudden weirdness either, so maybe it's safe?
You must First: unlock bootloader, get rom, extract boot.img patch with Magisk and then flash new patched boot.img.. This is my first Moto phone... Should have gone with the pixel.. I believe you are supposed to use fastboot for flashing. I have Verizon version and owe $499 for this pos, so I unfortunately won't be testing shiite. I have not compiled TWRP before but I will contribute what I can.. any good ideas for pi 4 1gb..
Can anyone tell me where to find stock ROM .zips for the Amazon version? I have the bl unlocked. But no stock ROM to get boot image from I'm on ppfs29.105-25-13-2 build. Does anyone know if the boot image magisk uses to patch has to be from same build version of Rom?

Hello everybody on my first post in xda, i need your help, it is why i am here, i have a Htc One X of 16GB but with tegra 3, don't have Lte and it say that is from europe in the hardware info (Have HTC logo, don¡t company logo or at&t logo)(yoigo get that one to me, is free sim) and then i don't know if that one is at&t, evita, if is the XL, or simply one x international, i am just now
i was searching for how to root that one (and if possible flash that one) yesterday and today, i have linux installed, ubuntu 13.10, and all what i try to do fail or didn't work. (believe me, i read a long number of post and download a long number of files and try some different methods typing on the console.
I need your help to root my phone, i will accept to unlock bootloader, to edit hex, to flash 20 files, to downgrade my phone, and to burn my face (preffer to don't do it) if neccesary.
How can i do it?
All possible util data from my device:
Resume (Fully updated with the official software)
USB Depuration mode: On.
Android 4.2.2
Sense 5
Software Version 4.18.401.2
Kernel 3.1.10-g7f360be
Compilation number 4.18.401.2 CL231174 (i was touch that 7 times then i am supposed developer)
Hboot 1.72
What is perfect to me?
My final purppose is flash cyanogenmod 10.2.1, if can't do want to simply get root access.
(Other possibility to me is flash that one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2640571
(i am not noob (of all) i was rooted some devices and flash two devices and don't have problem to try the harder method if someone know how to do what i want to do)
THANKS for the helper and sorry if my english isn't perfect!!

i search and read, i found how to root and flash (and i understand and stand all) but don't work for me, i try to unlock bootloader but fail, i have my Unlock_code.bin, but can't charge that one (last step), i get a command not found problem, you are a senior user, just the user that i am searching to help me, probably you know long more that me but i know to RTFM, i first search the solution here (at&t and international one x forum) then on google, then on tons of sites, but yet don't found the solution, unlock the bootloader is supposed to be easy, the problem on that can be that i am using ubuntu 13.10 and not a windows... (it is why i was writing my pc SO)
thanks for you, but need personal help with that.
Please try to help me with an usual problems list, some ideas, some howto or almost redirect me to the correct link where someone have a similar problem that was solver, because, i can't found that.
Thanks other time , but sorry because don't is usefull to me search (i am yet searching) :crying:

Tegra3 is not the EVITA, its the ENDEAVORU.
To verify, you can boot into hboot and you will either see EVITA or ENDEAVORU.
For ENDEAVORU, its pointless to ask here. Any advice we give you would fail and possibly even brick your phone. You need to go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-x

You should have done some research before you installed the update, it patched the last exploit which means there's no way for you to unlock the bootloader or get root. You'll hav to wait and see IF a dev bothers to crack it on this device which is getting old now.

No you can't without unlocking the unlocking the bootloader and rooting. It's a fairly well established (and discussed) fact that official updates patch root exploits, that's why it pays to research before doing something like that.

When its answered on here there is no method to unlock the bootloader, this includes downgrading. If there was a downgrade method, you would have been directed to that. Downgrading is not allowed on Android without root.

By buying a phone from a source other than your carrier, and also asking to mod the phone to work beyond its intended features (even though WiFi hotspot is intended to work on just about any carrier version except AT&T) you put yourself out of the category of "normal phone user" and it also means you have to do the proper research. Not knowing is no excuse.
Hi,
I'm new to the Motorola/Android universe and coming from a Samsung Phone, I was able to root all of my galaxies (there were 3 of them) by using Odin and custom root process made by some amazing xda devs.
I've got my MotoG3 today (XT1543 2/16GB variant) and I'd like to know how can I successfully root it!
So, let's broaden the question to all of MotoG3's variants so new users like myself can relate too!
Q: How to root the MotoG3?
Thanks in advance!!

I don't have the phone yet (still using my XT1034 1st Gen G), but you can try any of the 1click root methods. I don't know if anyone has yet. Personally, though, I'd rather have the custom recovery then root.

Read (Google) one of the thousands of threads on how to root any older moto g, it will be the same as long as you have a custom recovery that's compatible with 3rd gen.
So, as a friendly user pointed out on the TWRP thread, I believe this method should work on all of Moto G3 variants:
davidstelephone said:
After unlocking the bootloader & installing TWRP as described in the main thread, when you go to reboot, the recovery points out that you're not rooted and asks if you'd like it done. Neat & simple.

Also, bear in mind that your warranty is void as soon as you enter the codes on Motorola's website in order to unlock the bootloader.

I have the tools but the images from that thread are 4.4 , as I understand I can't downgrade to kit Kat and the lollipop update is ota, so how would I go about flashing the ota then? Rsd lite tells me it can't downgrade my device.

I got two quick questions:
1) How is everyone's battery life after flashing a non stock 7.1 rom? I mean jesus i had about 3 days of battery on the stock_debloated 6.0 rom. If i get one day without charging on a 7.1 im lucky.
2) Is there a way to install Magisk on stock? Worthless people at bank company decided that it was a smart idea to block rooted roms from using the newest bank app. So i'm stuck on 7.1 roms.
can someone help me get XT1225_QUARK_RETEU_6.0.1_MPGS24.107-70.2_cid7_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC stock rom please

This is not the right place to ask for help with this... Check out the "guide" section... And ask questions In " Questions & Answers" section.
I think this is best method:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/guide-root-twrp-lg-v20-using-dirtysanta-t3722278
Others use h915 kdz.
Please refrain from posting on this thread again. It will make me regret helping.
Don't forget to thank people who help you in the thread with thanks button. Specially if the guide they made helps a ton. Note this will get rid of at&t software. I think there is way too restore it still but I have not checked for a while.
this is helpful

Is there any current way to unlock the bootloader on the LG V20 H910 with AT&T's latest firmware release? AT&T has locked diown the bootloader, and with LG no longer in the cell phone game, they aren't able to provide the OEM bootloader unlock code as well. A few people have also mentioned that the Dirty Santa no longer works on these devices. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

At least did you try to follow the instructions available? According to this post from October-2022 it worked on H910 AT&T.

Yes. I tried it and its useless. Struggling to find a bootloader unlock process that actually works for the H910.

You are looking for help, because you don't know how to solve it. So we as a community need a little bit of cooperation from everyone to be able to understand if it's a limitation/roadblock of the method, or if you are doing something wrong for whatever reason.
So posting: "don't work", "it's useless" and anything like that not only don't help but discouraging others who read this threads. Tell the problem/error that you encounter.
I found another user who said that he flashed dirtysanta directly and once have TWRP he worked around it the downgrade flashing necessary.
As last resort you can swap the motherboard for one that is vulnerable for the exploit.
But if you wanna some one-click "I don't wanna have trouble" solution, I'm sorry that I can't provide that.

I have a clients device that needs to be updated, hence the search to unlock the bootloader and then update the device. The posts I come across, even new ones seem to be reposts of others work from before LG shut down their bootloader unlocking service, so ehen you follow their steps they don't work at various steps. I've been updating devices as far back as Android 1.5 and for some devices its a struggle to update them at all. Replacing the pcb isn't an option right now as the customer won't pay for it. Hence I scour various websites and forums for solutions as other post their success/failure in doing the same on this device. Too often I find people posting about updating their devices, only to find that they either already had their bootloader unlocked before LG shutdown their service to do so, or they just don;t reply to a PM about their process, hence they're fake posts, or old posts from years prior being reposted for no valid purpose. The amount of tim I spend to update peoples devices and test custom ROMs is actually fruitless in terms of money paid, but more for me to keep devices out of the landfills whenever possible. Every time I mod a device I make and keep notes, as well as the files used, stored on one of my NAS as I know I'll be doing it again in the future, including properly and fully testing custom roms to determine if they're actually working properly, or exactly what their issue(s) is(are), and I keep finding a plethora of bugs and issues with too many custom ROMs being pumped out before proper testing. I routinely turn down some device update requests when update steps are convoluted, fractured or even requirements are no longer valid. I'll keep looking around and trying various methods as I come across them. Thx.
No problems, I feel for you because I like to keep people using devices that otherwise would be discarded without real needs.

Did you try this other method?
First off I just got the TMobile 8T from the free promo December 22nd and just now got it sim unlocked. I'm currently waiting on oneplus to give me my unlock token but I have a few questions before I start trying to root and rom. Why won't the oneplus 8/8 pro twrp work for the 8T? And for the t mobile 8T+5G version would our phones be compatible with flashing the regular 8T unlocked version roms or do we have to convert to global first?
How did you unlock your sim? I just got the T-Mobile Oneplus 8T +5G. It is free after loyalty credits. I am wanting to root but T-Mobile says it's locked and I have to pay off phone to unlock.

@magnefica unlocked mines. I'm sure he's doing them for free but I offered a tip. I'm already rooted and rom'd but also make sure you convert to global before flashing roms so that your sim works in custom roms.

From another thread poster says he didn't convert and was able to use Lineageos with no issues - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-unofficial-kebab-11-lineageos-18-1.4192751/post-84210543
I also installed LOS over the TMO ROM without issue.

You guys could be correct but when I installed paranoid android it wasn't reading my sim card. I haven't really tested another rom until after I converted to global first. Every rom has been working with my sim now. Been running evolution x for a few days now.

It's all good. We just put it out there for those willing to try and save some steps.
Well, guys, I am totally lost here. I am not a nooby with computers as I have built and repaired many. I have rooted a couple phones and a tablet before but the instructions on how to do it were crystal clear. ( And a few years ago) I understand what you are telling each other but I am still lost on how to actually unlock this phone to move to another carrier. Thanks.
Maybe your not understanding me. What I am trying to say is that your knowledge of rooting, roms, etc is far better than mine. I just need simplified ( if there is one) instructions on how to unlock my phone, then I can start rooting, moding, etc.

Cause they aren't the same phone. As far as I know there is no TWRP that work for any android 11 device, and won't be until someone put in a lot of work on TWRP. I read somewhere that one of the TWRP lead developers was busy with family and other things right now.
User beware, I have an 8T 5G.... But currently experiencing connectivity data issues and then finding that my baseband is not what it should or needs to be... For obvious optimal connectivity with the T-Mobile servers. So one I did convert to euro before rooting. Two how do you get your Sim unlocked well I still owe plenty on my phone and after converting the Euro and throwing in and out different Sims but then downloading T-Mobile's unlock under a temporary unlock I then converted again to Euro after ****ing it up and got lucky swapping Sims hitting unlock which you can download from the Play store and it worked. Worked so well that I thought there must have been a glitch with them finances nope I still owe them lol but look at these stats and by the way TWRP works just fine 3.52 which I successfully run however do not flash both partitions only the one that you're operating under do not flash magisk to both partitions only the one you're operating on do not flash your wrong on both partitions only the one you're operating on. Unless somebody can shed knowledge with me that's what I've ascertain to be the right thing to do on these eight models opposed to my six? When I used to copy partitions like lineage will have you do?

Thanks for your info. I too am having cell issues with my 8T. I even sent it back to OnePlus under warranty, they sent me a new phone but still have same issues. I have given up on rooting my phone as most replays that I get are way over my head. Their are no clear instructions on how to root.
