This is not the right place to ask for help with this... Check out the "guide" section... And ask questions In " Questions & Answers" section.
I think this is best method:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/guide-root-twrp-lg-v20-using-dirtysanta-t3722278
Others use h915 kdz.
Please refrain from posting on this thread again. It will make me regret helping.
Don't forget to thank people who help you in the thread with thanks button. Specially if the guide they made helps a ton. Note this will get rid of at&t software. I think there is way too restore it still but I have not checked for a while.

Is there any current way to unlock the bootloader on the LG V20 H910 with AT&T's latest firmware release? AT&T has locked diown the bootloader, and with LG no longer in the cell phone game, they aren't able to provide the OEM bootloader unlock code as well. A few people have also mentioned that the Dirty Santa no longer works on these devices. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

At least did you try to follow the instructions available? According to this post from October-2022 it worked on H910 AT&T.

Yes. I tried it and its useless. Struggling to find a bootloader unlock process that actually works for the H910.

You are looking for help, because you don't know how to solve it. So we as a community need a little bit of cooperation from everyone to be able to understand if it's a limitation/roadblock of the method, or if you are doing something wrong for whatever reason.
So posting: "don't work", "it's useless" and anything like that not only don't help but discouraging others who read this threads. Tell the problem/error that you encounter.
I found another user who said that he flashed dirtysanta directly and once have TWRP he worked around it the downgrade flashing necessary.
As last resort you can swap the motherboard for one that is vulnerable for the exploit.
But if you wanna some one-click "I don't wanna have trouble" solution, I'm sorry that I can't provide that.

I have a clients device that needs to be updated, hence the search to unlock the bootloader and then update the device. The posts I come across, even new ones seem to be reposts of others work from before LG shut down their bootloader unlocking service, so ehen you follow their steps they don't work at various steps. I've been updating devices as far back as Android 1.5 and for some devices its a struggle to update them at all. Replacing the pcb isn't an option right now as the customer won't pay for it. Hence I scour various websites and forums for solutions as other post their success/failure in doing the same on this device. Too often I find people posting about updating their devices, only to find that they either already had their bootloader unlocked before LG shutdown their service to do so, or they just don;t reply to a PM about their process, hence they're fake posts, or old posts from years prior being reposted for no valid purpose. The amount of tim I spend to update peoples devices and test custom ROMs is actually fruitless in terms of money paid, but more for me to keep devices out of the landfills whenever possible. Every time I mod a device I make and keep notes, as well as the files used, stored on one of my NAS as I know I'll be doing it again in the future, including properly and fully testing custom roms to determine if they're actually working properly, or exactly what their issue(s) is(are), and I keep finding a plethora of bugs and issues with too many custom ROMs being pumped out before proper testing. I routinely turn down some device update requests when update steps are convoluted, fractured or even requirements are no longer valid. I'll keep looking around and trying various methods as I come across them. Thx.

No problems, I feel for you because I like to keep people using devices that otherwise would be discarded without real needs.

Help with new Texco Moto G

OK I just bought on contract a 16GB Moto G. Very happy so far. It downloaded the new 4.4.2 Kitkat. Can't see any difference.
It is locked to Tesco.
My question is, what steps do I now take to get root access and install CWM?
Do I need to unlock the phone first?
Any advantages in using one of the new Mods?
Any other advice welcome. I just know how to follow instructions...:fingers-crossed:
thanks

Already answered hundreds of times in other threads. Do some reading.
Use search. But do it in the following steps. Unlock the boot loader, then install a custom recovery, then root.

If you ask these questions which are already answered dozens of times i recommend you to read more first before you do anything. Otherwise your next question will be how "to make a phone out ouf my brick?".
OK. Sorry. I get you guys. I just thought maybe the Tesco version might need some different approaches. Actually it is quite hard to find a simple list of "things to do" with your phone, tablet whatever or simple steps you need to follow. Of course the details are more complex. I wasn't sure if I needed to unlock the phone or could do rooting on a locked phone. Maybe each device forum category should have a simple sticky just like that for us non-techies who just follow the instructions without really understanding what is going on.
Also I was half asleep and I see there is actually an excellent introduction. Deaf, dumb and blind...

Note.... If you are needing to go back to locked and S-on for warranty purposes but are too leery to do it yourself, help is available via pm. Don't let your s/lock status from getting proper hardware RMA'S!
If you have bricked one beyond fixing and can't get it replaced, please consider donating it rather than throwing it in a desk drawer, shooting it, or whatever other crazy idea comes to mind. I can almost always put a bricked phone to good use.
Anyone who would like to use fastboot/adb for this device please use the following version fastboot/adb. It's HTC's own version. It works on pc's with less ram and it automatically breaks up a single zip into pieces for transfer. It also reflashes automatically if needed.
USE IT!

I managed to figure out the firmware largely due to dottat. There were multiple threads of various age, some with seemingly conflicting advice. This goes for most device forums I follow. There was no authoritative resource, IMO, until this thread.
The search feature was key, I am pretty thorough before embarking in firmware upgrades.

Your OP does contain the required information and instructions, so I can't really complain. One thing that could be helpful is to list the bootloader version info for each firmware release. You listed the most recent one right at the top of the thread, so at least it is easy to tell whether a given device is on the latest firmware or not. Because your thread is the main firmware thread, perhaps it would be best if the OP were organized into sections for 4.4.2, 4.4.3, and 4.4.4. It could be clarified which partitions are modified in the process, and whether the radios are affected. Install instructions could be put in their own spot.
These are only ideas! Also, your thread should probably be stickied. Thanks for all you do.

Firmware flash
Hello everyone. I am new to this Forum. I've only been here a few days. I have an Unlocked/S-Off Verizon HTC One M8 that I recently purchased from Ebay. I had a little trouble for a while when I first got it as it was running 4.4.2 and I took the OTA update to 4.4.3 and it messed up the phone. I didn't know it was Unlocked/S-Off'd. And the seller said it wasn't rooted any more. Well so now that I know it is even after running the Verizon RUU, I was wondering if I need to upgrade the firmware one upgrade at a time (meaning 4.4.3 and then 4.4.4)? Or can I jump to a 5.01 Lollipop ROM? I have TWRP installed and I used Flashify to install it. I'm hoping to use Flashify more for installing zips. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you....oh and I'm loving this M8!!!!

Hello dottat. Thank you for replying to my question(s). Yes I know that a ROM is different than firmware. I was just wondering if I had to upgrade my firmware one update at a time or if I could just jump from 4.4.2 to say 5.0 or 5.01 so that if I wanted to I could put a custom ROM on my M8. I'm not actually sure how high the firmware upgrades go. I've only seen 4.4.4 as the highest so far.

update process on factory unlocked VZW M8 used with GSM
Hi!
I am getting a verizon factory unlocked model and i am going to use it on a GSM network in india.Since its factory unlocked there should be no issues with the network. .however i had some doubts about the software updates. .so will i be able to receive and install updates normally without resorting to rooting the phone. .some people reported that they had an issue installing the update where it said that they have to be on CDMA or something like that. .Will i be able to overcome such issues by connecting to wifi?Is someone could shed a little light on how the update process works when used abroad with a GSM carrier it would be great!Thank you so much in advance!

You will always be able to install the s-on ruu from here. The problem is that the latter versions of software while sim unlocked have proven very difficult to use on some carriers because you can no longer edit apn. You have to chose from pre-provided apn and thats only if they show up with your SIM card inserted.
You would be really wise to s-off the phone even if you don't root it as this would be the only way to downgrade if you ended up not having a workable situation on the newer software.

Samsung Galaxy S10e [EXYNOS AND NOT ALL SD]Root made by possible with magisk

Courtesy and special thanks to John Wu developer of magisk!
Here is the info. It is highly recommended to read carefully and follow the instructions to the T. This is not for the faint of heart or newbies just trying to root their phone for the first time. You will lose some things (Knox and pay) and gain some great things by rooting this device.

From what I understand people are even rooting their snap dragon versions of the phones as well. I would let the more experienced flashers help guide you through.
Thanks again to John Wu for bringing this to the table.

I'm gonna risk it and try in on snapdragon variant
Do Not try on the snapdragon variant. It will fail at vbmeta.img
Samsung is making it harder and harder to root devices. For Magisk to work, we technically have to boot to recovery every single time.
@ironmaskusa, you really should change the title and include "[EXYNOS and not all SD]" because this thread does not appy to North American Snapdragon devices, as topjohnwu himself stated. There are reports of Chinese/HK SD devices that have successfully gone through the procedure (and yet other Chinese/HK have failed), but for those of us with SM-G97OU/U1 and locked bootloaders, the Magisk procedure will not work.

Any news on the snapdragon variant? I'm getting the HK version, G9700 dualsim/snapdragon, and would be interested in getting working magisk.
I come from oneplus devices, friendly with twrp and stuff. Last sammy was tye S2...
Also, is there anyway to avoid knox triggering?
The pros of rooting dicreased a lot for me anyway, want to use substratum and a few silly magisk modules (especially for viper)
Let me know who's up to mod our G9700 and have some fun with it.

Also, disabling mobile data seems to keep the "4G" icon visible afterwards. Only problems i've encountered thus far

Can someone give a detailed explanation or a link to information on why this won't work for us snapdragons. This is the first phone I've owned that I've not been able to root. Im not necessarily a noob to rooting phone(as in following a guide) but I'm very intrigued by the inner working of the process.
Does anyone have a link to any information that goes into detail on how one goes about finding an exploit to root a phone. I have a little bit of programming experience but I'm sure I'm no where in the realm of being able to come up with my own exploits. Im kind of seeking knowledge on what it would take in order to start learning how to circumvent the security on devices so one day I may be able to give back to the community by providing my own exploits.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. I love these forums and want to help the community but I don't know how to go about finding the information I need in order to start learning the essentials in going about finding exploits and providing root methods. Thank you everyone for your awesomeness.
If any mods feel this is in the wrong section please feel free to move it or let me know and I will create a new post.

Rooting won't work on US Qualcomm/Snapdragon S9/S10 devices because Samsung has tightened their security a lot since the S8. In fact even the S8 is difficult to root, it only works if you have an old bootloader. Your best option is to go with the international/global "F" devices which has full custom recovery, Magisk, hide root, etc. While they say that the intentional devices won't work with Verizon (CDMA/LTE), I can confirm they work just fine since Verizon uses VoLTE for voice now.
As far as root being possible on US devices, it's hard to tell, if they find a loophole it could come tomorrow, but it could also come in 10 years from now, so it's probably not worth waiting when you have the international Exynos models available for rooting today.

Inquiry about SafeStrape, Downgrading from 4.4.2 and rooting...

Hi guys!
I'll start this as I do many posts...but apologies if this is in the wrong place or if the questions have already been answered....
Been a while since my last post but I am a long time member and still in the phone game. Over the years I've had to focus on other areas of my life as time has gone by but I still find time to tinker on occasion. If there is a thread that adequately answers these questions please link it in the response. But again, so far, I have not been able to find the answers I need. I am about to install SafeStrape on the device anyway but thought I would throw out a line in hopes of getting a bite.
With that said, I have scoured the forums looking for a definite answer. From what I can gather it appears that if you have the 4.4.2 OTA update that you cannot unlock your bootloader....ever.
Is this the truth?
Can I downgrade to an earlier FW such as 4.1.1, etc?
If so, can I then use SafeStrape or will I even need to?
The reasons behind these questions is to determine if I will be able to root this beast or not? I am unsure what the original FW was on the device or if it came with 4.4.2 on it. I mention this as I cannot remember if you can downgrade if your device never had the older version of the FW you wish to downgrade to on it sometime in the past. Can someone verify if this is true as well please?
Thanks in advance all!!

It's impossible to downgrade any of the firmware versions for the d2vzw device. The Knox within the devices bootloader will prevent this from ever happening.
If any attempts are made to do this, you will take the chance at Soft/Hard Bricking your device (or even worse).
The versions "at & below" Android v4.3.0 AND the Firmware version "I535VZWCML1" CAN be unlocked.
Any versions "at & above" Android v4.3.0 AND the Firmware version "I535VZWCNC1" CANNOT be unlocked.
SafeStrap = NOT a Custom Recovery. It's only designed/themed to LOOK like TWRP because of its familiar look and such.
TWRP = Custom Recovery. This replaces the stock recovery.
I hope that I had clarified this okay via text...
Good Luck!

Thank you my friend!!
Ibuprophen,
Thank you for the info... It has been a long time since I have done anything with an S3, particularly a VZW S3. Btw, I've used a lot of the times you have hosted so thanks for those too.
Before I posted my thread I flashed a semi stock f/w with SU added. But the device went into the "Verizon has detected non approved software on this device, blah, blah, blah.".
I was able to flash the appropriate stock FW via Odin and got out of the aforementioned loop.
But anyway, you answered my questions brother . I appreciate your time and effort.
Have a good day!!!
Regards,
PAinguIN

Your very welcome![emoji106]
I have 2 d2vzw devices (with 1 of them that has an Unlocked Bootloader) and, though I don't use them as my primary device, I still use them for testing purposes (ie... my developments and such) but, their still a decent device to use when necessary.
Enjoy!

Rooting one plus nord Online paid service

I saw one website claiming online rooting of one plus nord, having charges 39.95$
Some one please guide me is this a trustable service?? Website link- https://www.oneclickroot.com
Scam, even if it works it won't last long due to OTA's. Better root manually. I wouldn't burn my fingers on it.
Who needs that? If you wanna root, there is a guide available. If you still have some questions, open a thread in the correct section. And if you want to root your device and you aren't sure why, just don't do it.
there is literally a rooting guide here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-nord/how-to/guide-how-to-root-oneplus-nord-t4139411
this is one of the main purposes of xda forum, since you already made the first correct step to come here..
I saw the guide but, i cant understand clearly i always end with bootloop, thats whybi searched online for paid services..

I can understand it's somewhat an hassle for people who don't often root there devices. The last time I unlocked my bootloader was when I purchased the 6t. Now after purchasing the Nord need to do it again, but still it's a bit complicated. Driver issues, comand one can write wrong etc, and we don't always see what mistake we make. Maybe a complete video could help.
