First off I just got the TMobile 8T from the free promo December 22nd and just now got it sim unlocked. I'm currently waiting on oneplus to give me my unlock token but I have a few questions before I start trying to root and rom. Why won't the oneplus 8/8 pro twrp work for the 8T? And for the t mobile 8T+5G version would our phones be compatible with flashing the regular 8T unlocked version roms or do we have to convert to global first?
How did you unlock your sim? I just got the T-Mobile Oneplus 8T +5G. It is free after loyalty credits. I am wanting to root but T-Mobile says it's locked and I have to pay off phone to unlock.

@magnefica unlocked mines. I'm sure he's doing them for free but I offered a tip. I'm already rooted and rom'd but also make sure you convert to global before flashing roms so that your sim works in custom roms.

You guys could be correct but when I installed paranoid android it wasn't reading my sim card. I haven't really tested another rom until after I converted to global first. Every rom has been working with my sim now. Been running evolution x for a few days now.

It's all good. We just put it out there for those willing to try and save some steps.
Well, guys, I am totally lost here. I am not a nooby with computers as I have built and repaired many. I have rooted a couple phones and a tablet before but the instructions on how to do it were crystal clear. ( And a few years ago) I understand what you are telling each other but I am still lost on how to actually unlock this phone to move to another carrier. Thanks.
Maybe your not understanding me. What I am trying to say is that your knowledge of rooting, roms, etc is far better than mine. I just need simplified ( if there is one) instructions on how to unlock my phone, then I can start rooting, moding, etc.

Why won't the oneplus 8/8 pro twrp work for the 8T?
Cause they aren't the same phone. As far as I know there is no TWRP that work for any android 11 device, and won't be until someone put in a lot of work on TWRP. I read somewhere that one of the TWRP lead developers was busy with family and other things right now.
User beware, I have an 8T 5G.... But currently experiencing connectivity data issues and then finding that my baseband is not what it should or needs to be... For obvious optimal connectivity with the T-Mobile servers. So one I did convert to euro before rooting. Two how do you get your Sim unlocked well I still owe plenty on my phone and after converting the Euro and throwing in and out different Sims but then downloading T-Mobile's unlock under a temporary unlock I then converted again to Euro after ****ing it up and got lucky swapping Sims hitting unlock which you can download from the Play store and it worked. Worked so well that I thought there must have been a glitch with them finances nope I still owe them lol but look at these stats and by the way TWRP works just fine 3.52 which I successfully run however do not flash both partitions only the one that you're operating under do not flash magisk to both partitions only the one you're operating on do not flash your wrong on both partitions only the one you're operating on. Unless somebody can shed knowledge with me that's what I've ascertain to be the right thing to do on these eight models opposed to my six? When I used to copy partitions like lineage will have you do?

Thanks for your info. I too am having cell issues with my 8T. I even sent it back to OnePlus under warranty, they sent me a new phone but still have same issues. I have given up on rooting my phone as most replays that I get are way over my head. Their are no clear instructions on how to root.

I have the tools but the images from that thread are 4.4 , as I understand I can't downgrade to kit Kat and the lollipop update is ota, so how would I go about flashing the ota then? Rsd lite tells me it can't downgrade my device.

Apparently Motorola released a small update : 24.201.2.quark_retbr.en.BR tefbr and im unable to successfully install SU by any means it is killing WIFI and modem. All i remember about this update is that it is abut a small security update.

I got two quick questions:
1) How is everyone's battery life after flashing a non stock 7.1 rom? I mean jesus i had about 3 days of battery on the stock_debloated 6.0 rom. If i get one day without charging on a 7.1 im lucky.
2) Is there a way to install Magisk on stock? Worthless people at bank company decided that it was a smart idea to block rooted roms from using the newest bank app. So i'm stuck on 7.1 roms.
can someone help me get XT1225_QUARK_RETEU_6.0.1_MPGS24.107-70.2_cid7_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC stock rom please

1) You hope someone will have a solution to a problem that does NOT exist?
WHY would you think it costs $25 to install custom recovery on the Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo XT1225 or U.S. Moto Maxx XT1250? It's FREE. You are making no sense.
2) Try glancing over the forum before posting questions to basic questions?
This is XDA, which is a developer forum, and this is a 2-year old phone. So, all the basic questions (like unlocking bootloader/root/TWRP) have been asked and answered many, many, many times.
I looked at your past posts. You aren't a newbie. You've discussed in-depth how to port ROMs, etc. So, you know how to use a forum.
Here's the guide I wrote that gives you all the instructions for the Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo and it's at the top of the list in the GENERAL Section. You cannot miss it. It's RIGHT THERE in plain sight.
> UPDATED GUIDE: How to unlock your MOTO MAXX/MOTO TURBO bootloader/install TWRP/root
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-maxx/general/guide-how-to-unlock-moto-maxx-moto-t3455341
3) You DO have a Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo XT1225 or U.S. Moto Maxx XT1250, right?
Otherwise you wouldn't be asking how to unlock bootloader in this Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo forum, right?
If you have another phone, you should ask in the correct forum, not this one.
Sorry if it seems I'm coming down harsh... but all the information is already here, very visible.
If you READ and then had more questions that's one thing -- but you didn't even bother to look at the information easily available.
Why do we bother writing up guides and such if people just blithely IGNORE them?
Sorry, my fault.. i own a Verizon's droid turbo xt1254... Now if i ask again do u have any solution...
No. IF you have the Quark variant XT1254 Droid Turbo, that is the one Quark phone for which Motorola will not give a free unlock code because of control freak Verizon's insistence. Blame Verizon. All the others (XT1225 and XT1250) are unlocked easily and free, via Motorola website.
The XT1250 U.S. Moto Maxx is exactly identical in every way to the Droid Turbo XT1254, including FCC ID and radio bands. (Sold by at least a dozen regional U.S. CDMA/LTE carriers.) So, a lot of Verizon people bought that phone, unlocked the bootloader, and use it on Verizon with a Verizon LTE SIM card. It's like using a non-Verizon Nexus 6 on Verizon. You can even flash Verizon's firmware over that phone, as it's an exact clone of the XT1254.
Other than that, if you cannot sell your XT1254 and get an XT1250, then you have to use Sunshine paid exploit to unlock the Droid Turbo XT1254 -- and right now it only works on Lollipop firmware. If you have already updated to stock Marshmallow, Sunshine (at this time) does not work on Marshmallow for the XT1254.
The Sunshine exploit was published publicly. You can write an installer yourself if you have the skill, and give it away for FREE. The fact that no one else has done so means there must not be that much demand. People are willing to pay the $25 to save time, and they KNOW it works and won't brick their phones. (A lot of phones were bricked while the Sunshine team worked on the Droid Turbo exploit. They only released it when it was perfected.)
You will see lots of Droid Turbo stuff over here in this Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo forum because of cross development. All the Quarks have the same hardware specs (except for internal memory: the XT1225 variant comes in 64GB only while the XT1250 is 32GB only, and the XT1254 has both options), are the same phone (just like all LG G3 or LG G4 phones sold in different countries, by different carriers are the "same" phone). The only real difference is the Moto XT1225 phones have different FCC ID, different radio bands from the Moto XT1254/XT1250 (both of which share the same FCC ID as they are both the EXACT same device, just sold under different names to let Verizon claim a bogus "exclusive"). But by having the same hardware for all the Quarks, all the CM-based custom ROMs and custom kernels run on ALL the Quarks. So, there are ROMs over here, ROMs over there that we all use, no matter which Quark we own. (I own three XT1225.)
But there is a devoted Droid Turbo XT1254 forum, also. We all go back and forth between the two forums, this one and that one. In my guide, which I linked above, I point out if you have a Droid Turbo XT1254 you have to use this guide below found over in the Droid Turbo forum:
[GUIDE] How to unlock your Droid Turbo XT1254 bootloader, install TWRP and gain root access

Sunshine now works on Verizon Marshmallow 6.0.1
FONT="Georgia"]Sunshine ($25) now works to unlock bootoloader for Verizon Droid Turbo XT1254 on stock Marshamallow 6.0.1. Until now Sunshine only worked on stock Lollipop firmware SU4TL-44 and SU4TL-49. But as of this weekend it now works on Marshmallow.
This paid unlock is NOT necessary for all the other Quarks (XT1225, XT1250), only for the XT1254. [/FONT]
Hi All,
As the title suggests, I just acquired a very lightly used Verizon Branded Samsung Galaxy S7(regular, not the Edge or Active) and I want to load the very common "unlocked" firmware to it. I plan to use it with my current At&t prepaid service and don't want any of that stupid bloatware. I'm currently using a Verizon phone(iPhone 6s) with At&t Prepaid now and it works just fine. I have put my sim card in the S7 and confirmed it works with phone calls, texts, and internet.
Before everybody lights me up on here and tell me to use the search bar, let me explain. I have done hours of reading threads and even different forums and while I have an idea, I don't have a perfect picture yet. I did see people mentioning that you needed to use the Odin v3.12 PrinceComsy so I have downloaded that. what confuses me is the firmware I need. I see firmware referenced in write-ups but it is always the S7 Edge and if I understand correctly that won't work. Also, if I'm flashing my phone to another firmware, will it matter what the current OS or Baseband version is on the phone? Do I need an "unlocked" firmware version that is specific to my phone's current carrier(ie. Verizon). There also seems to be a ton of broken links on the threads I have read, likely because the S7 is no longer current and the threads are all old. If you could include links to any files referenced I would really appreciate it!!

So the LG Stylo 4 is a beautiful budget smartphone and i cant find any information on it here at xda so i figured i would start a thread for people to go to and discuss getting root on this device. Anyone with any experience or if anyone thinks the root process for another lg phone might work with this phone and is willing to test out and report back let us all know.
I am afraid we are out of luck this time...see below
messi2050 said:
Unfortunately stylo 4 requires unlock.bin from lg to unlock the bootloader to be able to flash twrp in order to flash [magisk or super su] and root the device [those information are according to 2 of the real device owners as i don't have one] this is similar to what exist on some lg v20 and g6 [carrier models] and from my experience lg won't allow bootloader to be unlocked similar to what they did on the models i mentioned, this mean that it will be very difficult if not impossible at all to root the stylo 4 and it will end like the still non-rootable stylo 3 ls777 from boost mobile.

Haven't tried anything yet.
Root x Recovery
Stylo 4
There is article that a quick Google search will turn up that claims to have step by step instructions including unlocking the bootloader of the Stylo 4 which is supposedly done with a .bin file emailed by LG after submitting IMEI number of the phone. But have yet to see any confirmations of this.
Any solution yet to unlock it?, mine is lg-stylo 4 metro pcs
Have any if you guys tried kingroot? I'm thinking of upgrading my stylo2 plus but I'm not going to if root hasn't been acquired. I used Kingroot about 7 times and got root on the first day of getting my Stylo2. Maybe it'll work on the 4?
Look, I want root as much as the next guy, but it's not happening this time. We gotta keep bugging LG/MetroPCS so the next time they release a phone it's unlockable! In my opinion root isn't as needed, although I'm missing some features like the ability to download Instagram photos, and some eye candy mods, not much is needed.

The bootloader not unlockable using the previous terminal or new fastboot commands....fastboot oem unlock, fastboot flashing unlock.
The carrier influenced the locked down of obtaining root.
Hope you guys can crack a hard shell..
Good luck...
I may try the old towelroot app, but i currently have a metro lmq710ms stylo 4 and it IS bootloader locked...you need a bin file that's derived from an algorithm that uses the device ID and IMEI supplied by LG to unlock the bootloader using a fastboot command. Currently, this device isn't on LG's list of approved devices for an unlock but if I'm correct the device is essentially a slimmed down spec lmg710 which means it likely uses the same bootloader. Only problem is without knowing LG's algorithm that's building the unlock.bin file we can't generate one using our device ID/IMEI combination.
I would say bug LG about it, but i fear this device isn't going to get enough people angry to get the job done! :/ which is a shame because it's a lovely budget device! Runs great! And a few root tweaks and kernel adjustments could really have it running like a flagship!

Root may be possible for things like TiBu but until someone cracks the bootloader (unlikely) ROMS, Recovery, Kernels are out...

If someone was willing to share an official unlock.bin for a lmg710 then there's a REMOTE possibility a .bin could be built but it would be device-dependent, meaning the file would need editted for each device cuz they all have different dev id and imei's....i know there were some folks looking at it on another bl locked lg device but it's a real toughie with STRONG chances for bricking the bootloader...

The only thing i want more than root which is alot easier is the AR Stickers port from LG G7 ThinQ.. Im currently working on it with an apk tool app i can share.. Its hard to find.. Any help would be appreciated.. This phone is beast even without root.. I had a guy tell me he prefers it over the iphone 8+ cause its all screen like Galaxy S8, has wide angle camera with qlens so camera port is possible, android 8.1 and 6.2" lcd?! Best free phone i ever had.. Even got the $6 a month issurance cause I'm keeping this for awhile.. But root would be nice..
Ok so without a proper app port im not having luck.. Phone is only 32bit and main apps are 64bit.. Apparently the change need to be made in the manifest but not sure where in the manifest.. So far the ar core app install no prob since its 32bit.. After days found a google camera with modded manifest, its now 32bit and install.. Just ar stickers app port left and no info on modding manifest.. Any help would be appreciated.. This thread got quiet.. What you guys working on
Here are pics of cam working..

Will there be a bootloader unlock or root any time soon? Or does that usually take a while?

Will this work on the $120 Verizon "unlocked" Z4? I don't see the Z4 listed in the list of compatible phones on that site, and it also makes a mention that Verizon doesn't often let people unlock their phones. Since I'm not on Verizon will that not happen? Or since it is a phone from them, even if I don't use them I won't be able to unlock the bootloader at all?

I just tried it with mine $120 BB VZ phone, and it did not work:

I guess that's part of the penalty you pay for getting the phone 75% off the unlockable price. Hope they're able to offer us some relief. I just want to run adaway.
Any past moto owners know when they unlock the bootloader?
I noticed that the z4 isn't on the link for bootloader unlocking but the other z series are. Does anyone know how long it typically takes motorlla to add a phone to the list?https://support.motorola.com/us/en/solution/MS87215

Motorola has never, to my knowledge, kept that list up to data or complete.
The only way to be sure is go through the unlocking request, to find out if your device's bootloader can be unlocked.

Have you (or anyone else reading this) purchased a phone before the bootloader unlock was released? Basically I am in a situation where I have to decide if I want this phone within a short timeframe, if it would get a bootloader unlock in the next few months I would be fine with it but if its going to take more like a year I would go for a different phone.
I have the unlocked Z4, and tried the Motorola bootloader unlock page. Successfully got a code, but haven't unlocked yet.

I also have the unlocked Z4 I went to the Motorola website got the unlock code. I am trying to root it and with all the bad thing i read about Kingo Root I did not want to use it. SuperSU and Magisk only show the installation with TWRP but when i try to download it does not have for the Moto Z4. Any ideas how to root? This is about the only site i found https://myphoneupdate.com/root-motorola-moto-z4/

Best to wait till someone builds a twrp for moto z, unlikely kingo would work anyways

Sorry, no idea. Since there seem to be very few sites that can be trusted, I usually wait for something to pop up here on XDA.
Sunshine (at theroot.ninja) worked great on my first-gen Moto X, but then I sorta lived with the full lockdown on the Z Force Droid until the Z4 came out. I've been hoping that Sunshine would get support for the Z4, but dunno if that's even possible.
I've seen various reports on wether Kingo (King?) Root works in general. Tried it on the ZFD without any luck, but also didn't notice any sudden weirdness either, so maybe it's safe?
You must First: unlock bootloader, get rom, extract boot.img patch with Magisk and then flash new patched boot.img.. This is my first Moto phone... Should have gone with the pixel.. I believe you are supposed to use fastboot for flashing. I have Verizon version and owe $499 for this pos, so I unfortunately won't be testing shiite. I have not compiled TWRP before but I will contribute what I can.. any good ideas for pi 4 1gb..
Can anyone tell me where to find stock ROM .zips for the Amazon version? I have the bl unlocked. But no stock ROM to get boot image from I'm on ppfs29.105-25-13-2 build. Does anyone know if the boot image magisk uses to patch has to be from same build version of Rom?
