I got this status within 3sec, meaby try a China rom or wait for a update.
(I have a China rom btw 2.14)

No problem in Los Angeles. I tried it a few times... I get a 5m lock within 2-3 seconds.

Hi,
I haven't measured. I don't givbe a s**t about measurements.
But I have used the GPS for several hours in real use.
And it has NEVER quitted, disconnected from signal (except when in tunnel and hooked back in 3 seconds when I'm out of the tunnel).
I would say it is super reliable in real life...
Of course, if measures says the opposite, they must be right.
Regards.

Thank you..you got it inside house or outside? This what i am got inside a car outside.. what about battery life? I am disconnect it in 5 in morning and reach 1% at 21:40 its good?

Inside my house. And the battery life depends on what apps you have used and the screen on time, screen uses most battery.

heat from bottom of phone - 44 degree temp

i havebeen using my phone for the last couple of hours to listen to music and do a bit of surfing whilst bored at work ... the temp has got upto 44 degree's , its not plugged in charging .... is this normal ??
the heat seems to come from the bottom of the phone .....
ive had some hot phones but this is ridiculous - htc really need to sort this before our phones ... excuse the pun burn out !
what temps have your phones got to ?? is 44 degree's ok or is it too high
i dont want to turn the phone screen off every time i use it for a while just to cool the damn thing down.
What phone are you using. I have n HD7 that gets really hot. I mean really if it wasn't for the development on HTC devices no one would be buying them. The build quality is poor from the processor to the display to the housing. That's why Samsung is a trusted manufacturer but lacks development its truly their only flaw.

I use" Battery Indicator " app and i chill usually at 32-34C.. just played one level of plants vs zombies and im at 42C kinda ridic if u ask me i usually put it down at 41C or beyond to let it cool down
Yep using sensation - the heat is crazy .... ill try the app
how long do i have to put up with this heat before it settles ???
the temp doesnt seem to come from the battery as it radiates at the bottom
i cant believe htc released a phone which causes so much heat - will a firmware release sort it ?? i wonder

Cool it man I'm using the xda app for android and it doesn't exactly tell you where you are unless you navigate there yourself. Also don't ask me why and how I got here I just saw an interesting topic an decided to add my 2 sense. Had a sensation and it crapped out on me within 3 hours. Got a second one same thing after 3 days it crapped out to.

well today mine got up to 44 but that was my fault. i always take the case off when charging it and i forgot to do it. also i was using it during this.
the case reduces heat dissipation. as soon as took off the case it went down to 38.
so i recommend that if you have a case on your phone and you see or feel that is getting too hot, take off the case.
I wouldn't want to say it's normal however I've had at least 3 sensations that were hitting around 43 to 45deg C just on battery while using Google Maps or browsing the web. The reps (all three working at the time) in the store found it strange that the phone was getting so hot just to the touch.
May have to underclock our devices like the iPhone. shouldn't be much of a difference considering it has a dual core processor right?

The most important isnt the Frequency, the most important is the voltage in the processor...
On SGSII, you have practically the same voltage at 1.2Ghz than 1Ghz or 800Mhz...
So i think is the same on Sensation... lower voltages, or you never get decent temperatures.
Am I being to simple here or is it just the fact so much tech is in the handsets now that it will obviously get hot? I would of thought this is the norm for phones nowadays and without sticking a fan on the back there is nothing that can be done?
Can we compare this to a PC? What temp do processors run at on a PC, and is there a limit before they lag or fail?

You cannot compare a smartphone to a PC, due the pc have an active cooling, and an smartphone have a passive one...
So, the smartphone will get more hot than a PC.
This temps are good, but think this components are more delicated than a pc, so the temperature isn't good for her life.
Played 15min of asphalt hd and the phone got very hot. I took off the back cover off to investigate and noticed the microsd is located at the bottom of the phone. The microsd was untouchable. Hope the device heat will not damage it.
All HTC devices have inbuilt thermal protection. If the phone gets too hot it will shutdown and/or reboot.

Well I contacted htc who advised 44 degrees is a fault so I've taken my handset back to three and bought a dhd sensation is worst handset I've ever had, the dhd is quick does not lag and heat its fine even on using the phone whilst charging sorry htc you have let your self down with your new flag ship handset

Mine got up to 52C while outside using the GPS Saturday.
i think the highest mine has got is around 115deg. (around 46C). this is rediculous i think since it only happens when i play a game for like 20 min..browsing the web reaches around 107 sometimes. but im past my 2 week remorse period so i cant return/exchange the phone at t-mobile, dont know what to do since some ppl say this is normal for being a dual core and wut not, but then not everyone has these overheating issues

GPS + Charging = Overheating :-(

Hello all,
Saw a few other posts to overheating when not doing much or anything but recently noticed a problem with using the GPS while charging will cause it to over heat and no longer charge. The battery will get in excess of 47° C when this is happening and idles at 33° C.
Seems mainly with GPS though, on call with wifi and bluetooth running at 35° C.
I am using a HTC - T-Mobile myTouch charger with 5V-1A put so is not a high output charger.
Has anyone else seen this?
I know I am not having any luck with these phones.
First one had problems with when using GPS would loose data connection till GPS was discontinued.
Second (this one) has the above problem and had a exchange sent for about 4 hours wouldn't turn on no matter what I did. After I had exchange sent turned on fine and hasn't happened since.
Third (sent back already) had the same problems as the first one will loose data and cell signal when using GPS and will come back when disabled but not till then.
Honestly, you can't expect a phone not to get hot while charging and using GPS. GPS takes a lot of power, also with the screen being on the entire time it takes up even more.
Almost any smart phone should be able to handle 47° C, I wouldn't suggest it for long extended periods of time though.
Most android devices have heat alert that pops up if your phone gets too hot, I'm not sure if ours has one. I've read on a couple of posts of phones running around 125 Fahrenheit, without a warning.
As for the Data kicking off while using GPS, I don't see why it would, mine doesn't. Not sure what to tell you.
Are you running a custom rom?
I do expect it to get hot.
That is normal as the phone is using alot of resources to do that function.
But it should not get to a point where it stops charging.
I have had the Amaze, Sensation, MT4GS, and G2x all have gotten warm but not really a problem where it caused it to stop accepting a charge.
I always remove it from the d30 case and set i cup holder so not trapping heat to avoid the problem.
A few times I have gotten it that hot with it not plugged in.
I only see the "overheat notification" orange blink green blink cycle when it is plugged in charging. If not charging not a problem there.
No custom rom or anything 100% stock and locked yet.
Data connection lost is a weird one.
My Girl has the same phone with no problem there and the 2nd device don't loose data connection just that it heats up really good. Don't know about heat on hers since she don't use GPS long enough to require a charge like I do.
Just the first and third phone that was sent to me have this problem with lose of data connection. Can't use it long enough to see if it over heats :-( lol
I completely skipped over the not charging part, after it gets hot.
I'm going on a trip in a few days, I'll see if my behaves similiarly.
I would just take it back and try again, no data while using GPS is pointless, unless its just a simple setting somewhere I've never seen.

Just tried a different charger and it got up to 45°c too
Both car chargers work fine on my other phones so don't think is that.
I use mine for GPS a lot (just made a trip from Atlanta to Knoxville ) and had my phone charging playing music and navigating and yes it got hot but it never stopped charging or did the blink cycle .. only time I saw anything remotely close to that is when I left my g2x outside while I was playing ball and saw a notification saying its too hot to operate but nothing on my s

I've been using my GPS for the last couple of hours now, been downloading maps for when I know I don't have service also along with navigation.
I'm ay 45 Celsius right now. I'm using a fm transmitter with a built on usb outlet on it that doesn't put out the needed power to keep my phone charged. If I was using a real car charger work the correct output I'm sure I would be a little more hot.
No data problems so far or anything else.

yeah the last few days I have been using it didn't break over 45 much but seems like I need to keep the AC pretty high to accomplish that.
Currently here in PA we have had a few really hot days for us which I know is much toward other states but has been in the mid to high 90's.
I think just the heat from that with windows down is not enough to keep it cool enough.
If the phone gets arround 45 c will be border line and seems like 46 is where over heat protection comes in and stops charging.
As a test I put my sensation in a thick rubber case left charging from 70% and gps that got up to 48 c but never stopped charging. Normally I never ever leave the case on while I do that but wanted to see in this case what would happen.
So it seems like just a HTC One S thing that if reaches a certain point to stop charging to help prevent damage or something.

i always have a data connection issue while using gps i have ever since i got this phone so that custom rom talk is bs this phone drops data all the time while using gps at the same timeand will not return until the gps is off
My phone also has the loss of data issue while using GPS. Shortly after the data loss it will also loose GPS signal and for me a reboot is the only solution

Just got mine today and I have the same problem with my Nexus 4. Does not seem to want to hold a connection and charges for a few seconds, then off for a few seconds. I would stay away from these if you have a Nexus 4 as it seems to be a crapshoot whether it works with your N4 or not.

I have the same problem. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this charger if you own an N4.
I don't understand why people keep buying the DT900. The problems have been mentioned time and again with the frequent disconnects and the extremely slow rate of charging. Newer hardware versions (Rev 11 and 12 I reckon) of the N4 have been reported to be working fine. It's just not worth the trouble even at that price. There are other QI chargers available for around 20.
It's on sale again at att

Works great for my N7, so when I ordered two N4s my dumb ass ordered 3 from the AT&T website, and am getting the same issue with the two that I unpacked. Hopefully the AT&T store can take them as returns.
I picked one of these up for 13$. I don't recommend this charger either. If it is not sitting on the charger just so it will just cycle charging/not charging. If you look at a photo of the phone with the cover off, the battery is pushed down to one side of the phone.(lower left corner of phone looking at screen.) The charger works best for me when i position the phone so the left edge is lined up with the edge of the charger. Once it gets in the 90 percent range the charging rate really slows down, like a percent or so an hour. It WAS working good for me until.....
I got tired of searching, but I had read a thread where people were stating that the phone starting switching through apps, opening and closing and doing weird stuff. Well, it started happening today to me. Somewhere along the line it changed a setting and i lost my nav bar. Tried for hours to find what setting it changed, but never did. Imagine trying to navigate around your phone with no home or return button. PITA. I flashed a updated rom to fix it. What was even worse is I set it on the charger when i had TWRP running and it started cycle screens there also. Considering that it changed my navbar settings, scary what it could do with TWRP.

GPS issues - tempted to throw in the towel

hi all,
my Honor 8 is stock on the latest OTA update and often has GPS oddities. I play a lot of Pokémon GO so it's really apparent. A lot of the problem is that I get "GPS Signal Not found" whereas 3 or 4 other branded phones right next to it get a GPS signal first time no problem
Also when GPS is working it either stays totally stationary (unrealistic) or darts around hundreds of metres from where I am. Either way it's really not fit for purpose, I'm having to use a £100 cheap phone instead.
Any ideas? will a ROM fix it? is the phone faulty? do they all have this?
Cheers.
Backup, factory reset, restore backup.
Calibrate GPS once in a while, specially when the facing blue area in front of the blue dot is wide.

If you updated from previous firmware version without factory reset, then yes.
You may just have a dud GPS chip.

GPS goes wandering off

One of the reasons I upgraded from my OP5 was that on the old phone, GPS apps (such as walking apps and my camera app) when using the GPS, would suddenly wander off about 1/2 a mile and then wander back. So it looked like I had walked a lot further than I really had.
I've just been for a walk with the new OP8 - and it does exactly the same.
So, my question is - are all the apps using the same library (and thus giving the same error)? Or, is this a fault with the OnePlus implementation of GPS? I don't believe it's the app as I have had this issue with 3 different ones on the old device (unless they all use the same library)
Any ideas?
Alan
One of the GPS settings was to also use Phone masts and Wifi to assist in the GPS positioning. I turned that off and went for the same walk today. It all worked. Now, it could be coincidence as I've had an accurate walk before (on my OP5), but it's looking hopeful.
Alan
2nd walk and still working OK.

Did the problem ever come back? The gps on the 7t is just atrocious for that reason but to the extreme so I was hoping they fixed it?
No it's been fine ever since I took off the 'assisted GPS' stuff.
What I haven't done is gone back to my old OP5 and tried the same thing.
I've been using Strava and it seems to be more accurate than my Garmin Vivoactive HR once it gets all the satellites (it's more granular). It seems to be accurate to about 6 feet, so sometimes if you stand still, it can look like you are going round in circles if you zoom in far enough. But no wandering off for a mile and then coming back again.

They only use while in use - but when it's recording, it is in use. And it's working OK now.
