Hi All,
I've just got my OnePlus 7 Pro 5G and it appears their is no support for dual SIM. Is this genuinely genuine or have they just misfitted the incorrect SIM tray?
I thought all OnePlus devices came as dual SIM as standard...
Thanks,
Speedy!

Same here, not impressed. Returning it tomorrow to EE.
It's not a deal breaker for me. I'm just a bit surprised that the standard model has dual SIM but the 5G model doesn't...

You sure the tray doesnt hold two sims, one on each side. I thought I saw specs say dual sims for 5g model.
Are you sure there is no dual sim? The tray has a different configuration where the two sims are stacked on top of each other like a sandwich instead of two parallel slots. At first it got me confused as well.
Mine also can be stacked on both sides...

Models sold through carriers are single SIM
Mine's Dual Sim, but if you bought it through T-Mobile or certain other carriers....it's single SIM. Buy it straight from OnePlus

I have a Canadian X Play, and while taking my sim out, noticed it said Sim 1. Thought it odd, so looked at the other spot. It looked like a dummy plate, so I peeled it off, and voila. It says Sim 2. Taking a quick peek inside the slot looks like it has the pins that would make contact with a second sim. I put my Sim in slot two, but it didn't pick it up. Not sure if you need to have a Sim in both slots, or maybe if it's enabled in software. I don't have a second nano sim to test. It looks like the hardware is all there. Once we get some factory images up, and some devs, it'd be interesting to see if these are all just the same device with a different tray and software.
Maybe it is disabled in software. Like a single sim build flashed.

From what I know there's three current versions of the Moto X Play.
Canadian, Europe/UK and Nordic.
The Canadian and UK ones do not have two radios, but the Nordic one does, and that one supports Dual-Sim.
The Canadian and UK ones probably still have the pins for the sim card slot though.
I'm getting my Dual-Sim one in a couple of hours, we can try and find out if there's any differences?
Makes sense about the dual radios. I was silently hoping it was simple lol.
What makes me a bit sad, is that I have to choose between using two sim cards, or one sim and one SD card

I don't understand what you mean.
I have a dual sim model (XT1562) and don't have to make the choices you state. I'm using 2 SIM cards and a microSD card.

I thought the SD card was also where the second sim would be, now that I actually have the device in my hand I see that it is not so

Yes it does:
4G LTE (1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 19, 20, 28, 38, 40, 41)
Ah now that's tempting. I'm getting bored waiting for the Honor 7 and I can get a dual-sim Play down the road from my local equivalent of Currys (if that still exists).

I'm impressed with the phone. I'm not a heavy user, but the battery life is very good. Especially after using a Nexus 4 for the past 2 yrs.
Even with both SIMs on, I'm getting 42-50 hrs of battery life and approx' 6:30 hrs screen on time. I'm sure I can get even more with only one SIM on.
I had a nexus 4 and battery life was pretty bad. However I struggle with battery life on all my android phones. I see people with 6 hours screen on with other devices and have no idea how even with kernel tuning I don't get near that. My Voda Smart Ultra 6 I occasionally got 5 hours screen in but then some days I got only 2 and a half. Nothing significant showing in usage either...

Which model is dual SIM? XT1562 or XT1563 or another model?
From gsmarena the XT1562 is European model (?) comes only with SS (single Sim) and has less LTE bands while XT1563 comes in both SS & DS (dual SIM) and has more LTE bands - AWS for one which is 1700/2100. I just looked this up from website so there might be more variations worldwide but if you are in NA (North America) I would make sure it's a XT1563 so you have the right bands for LTE. AFAIK the carriers in Canada are all bringing in SS units (XT1563) while the Mexican /Spanish units (also XT1563) are all DS units.
Not exactly a cut & dried answer but I hope it helps you out.
I have been more than happy with mine XT1563 SS but would have got a DS if available for same price & on shelf.

Did you flash that on a European XT1562 or a XT1563? I'm wondering if I should try XT1563_LUX_RETLA_DS_5.1.1_LPD23.118-6.1_cid12_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip on mine.

European XT1562.
That's pretty cool that Motorola left things "doable" for us enthusiasts to utilize the second SIM by flashing the right ROM.
I am fairly sure that's just a (wonderful) side effect of technically inept management
I wonder if that affects LTE bands also?
Hi
Will there be a version of galaxy s7 (maybe just for some regions) with capability of using 2 sim cards and a microsd at the same time?
I think there's no 128gb version, so what if I want more space (128gb) with two sim cards inserted?
Highly doubt it. I don't know of any phone that has. The dual sim will probably be software locked for certain regions and I don't see Sammy redesigning their phone to accommodate 3 cards, I.E 2 sims and an sd.

I can see that Honor 8 has Hybrid SIM slot in all variants released till now.
Will the Indian version of Honor 8 and Honor 8 Smart have capability to accept dual sim?
The reason why I'm interested in knowing this is that Honor 7 has Dual Sim enabled in some variants.
But when it came to Indian Variant, it was having only Single Sim enabled.

We have shown our dissatisfaction on Honor 7 when it got released with single sim already.
Even though Honor 5X is less powerful than Honor 7, i switched from 7 to 5X bcos of dual sim compatibility. Especially for 3 card slot design.
They need to keep the 3 card slot design in all devices.

The 3 card slot design in Honor 5X can be incorporated in all models I think. That's the best way to reduce the customer dissatisfaction towards the good mobile.
Especially in India, where people are trying JIO 4g network for the first time, they dont want to lose their primary SIM.

Correct but it's still the same phone. There is nothing special about the t-mobile one. They advertised like the tmo one had better 5g capabilities, but it is the same. I have an 8t bought from oneplus and I use it on TMobile, compared to a t-mobile employees' who I rooted and poured over, no discernible difference other than ram size and storage but none of that is anything important in terms of is it 2 diff devices?? Nope.

I buy a oneplus and a pixel every year. The pixels suck anymore compared to oneplus. Buy oneplus.
The T-Mobile version has sim slot 2 disabled and no assigned imei for it. Might still work once converted but only one sim active at a time. AOD is also non existent until future update or conversion. There's also more steps to unlocking the bootloader. It requires sim unlock and you need to submit a code to oneplus to get the unlock.bin but their site is bugging out for now. Sounds like it'll be fixed within the next week though.
Edit: the T-Mobile version KB2007 is still the hardware equivalent of unlocked US KB2005. Only actual difference is software limitations. Once we can convert firmware its just another KB2005 hardware amd software wise.
