Was wondering if you can Warp Charge the Oneplus 7 Pro with any USB 3 cable? (oneplus warp charger but any USB-C cable)?
Or does it have to be the red cable.
And also, would any USB-C cable charge the phone normally at least?
Thanks!

I wouldn't say any, but at least those rated 5v 4A do or could also support warp charging current at 5V 6A . The Anker 6ft powerline+ supports it despite not being labeled. What happens is Warp is relatively new and they didn't see that coming in order to test and label the cables.

You need the Warp charger and a compatible cable from Oneplus for Warp Charge due to the proprietary charging technology. If the charger you use supports USB-PD you get a maximum of 5V/3A.

You don't need 5A rated cable necessary. Good quality cable could haldle more than 6A and 5V. Its not like the cable are programed or have a chip in them. just need a thick enough coil and well soldered USB C connector.[COLOR="Silver
@Vanhoud
Thanks. we can see how the amazon cable leads even a bit higher voltage although it fluctuates with both cables but still topping the stock one
So, you get one and try it?

I use the one plus 3 cable and it warp charges. The OP 5T one works too
Yes other cables including OnePlus cable will work with the warp charging block. I use those same amazon cables with my 6T and have test those cables on a friends 7 Pro and they work great. OnePlus is trying to lead people to believe otherwise so they can charge $5 more per cable just because it says warp on it. Just more proof OnePlus is all about the money now even if it comes down to lies and ripping off their fan base.
Don't get me wrong business is business and I still like OnePlus phones...Just saying the days of cheap phones with them are coming to an end, even if they still under cut the other major players we will be paying more for phones among other things from them in the future.
The stock cable is usb 2 btw

Hi guys first time here. I am not entirely sure what you are asking. If you are looking for a USB warp charge compatible cable you can use the one linked. BTW that cable is magnetic meaning that it disconnects under too much pressure. I've tested these guys cable before and can say for sure they warp charge. But its standard USB type A to type C. Just like the red cable that comes with the oneplus.
Actually, yes. I have been testing this recently. If you buy ANY USB 3.1 cable that has Superspeed+, it absolutely works for warp charging. I tried using all of the ones I have at home, and they all work. One of them is random generic cable, one of them is walmart's Blackweb brand, and the other is from amazon. None of them are warp charge cables. They are all USB 3.1. When used, they all show the warp charge symbol, and using ampere shows that it indeed charges at the same rate as the original cable. This should help us in finding the cables that we want, etc.!
I was extremely surprised, because I had the 6T before this, and dash charge definitely does not work with the same cables mentioned.
I tried this cable that was Superspeed+ and USB 3.1 compatible and it did not seem to work. Any thoughts as to why?

Got this in tonight, thought I'd share some pics. All of the paperwork that came with it is pretty much either how to return stuff you don't like or how to post a review on Amazon lol. The pictures attached show you all the information on the actual charger. I obviously don't have anything that can use the Type C for it yet but I will charge my lg g3 with a regular micro USB tomorrow. If anyone knows of a way for me to do some testing and tells me how I'm more than willing to do it.

It's says 3A on the charger by the ports, but does that mean its 3A divided among both usb points or 3A in each point?

As per one of the description on Amazon:
2x 1.5A if both ports are in use
or 1x 3A if single port (which is what RED ZMAN is hopefully able to test for us)
AFAIK you can't deliver 5V @ 3A over a USB-A connector... that is wholly unique to USB Type-C. The best you can do with USB Power Delivery spec is 5V @ 2A. So IF this charger can really deliver 15W power, it will only be via the USB-C port. I plan on testing with my Chromebook Pixel using a USB-A to USB-C and a USB-C to USB-C. I don't think I can measure actual wattage, but I can compare "time to full" calculations using each port.

I messed around with it today along with several different apps to try to measure the actual charge rate but wasn't successful. The LG g3 seems to have issues with most of these apps and the ones that showed readings that looked meaningful we're showing things like 520 mAh. This was with a decent quality cable that I have grown to trust quite a bit.
I have some types C cables coming but without anything to plug it into I really can't do much more measuring. I will say this does not feel like a cheap charger and I'm kind of impressed with how good it looks in the car. It also did seem to be charging my phone very well, and was a consistent 50 to 70 mah higher than the other charger I was using which was the accessory USB A port for a Tylt Qi wireless charger dock/mount.
Hopefully somebody with a USB C device they can measure with is able to get us good readings.

I'm pretty sure you're right about the limits of the USB-A. I think it's limited to 2.1A, so yeah, you'll need to have a type-c to type-c cable with a 5v/3a charger to get this to work. Ah well, the micro-usb run was nice while it lasted.
Question for the OP also, how well does the charger fit in the outlet? I read a few reviews on Amazon that say it's pretty loose in some and doesn't stay seated.

We had no problems at all with it staying in place. I use a lot of retractable cables so you're pulling on them to let them retract and it never moved unless they directly pulled on the charger. Tight fit.

interested in updates. although i'd like to see a charger that doesn't split the amperage between ports. i have a BT receiver and a charging cable in the device that i have now, so if there's one that can provide power to both A and C without splitting, that would be ideal.
who know, it's 3A at 5V, no one will know until we have the 6p

Hmm, you got me there. I got in my Cable Matters USB-C to USB-C cable, to go along with my USB-A to USB-C cable. Sometime soon I will try both with the Vinsic charger and my Chromebook Pixel and see if they both charge at the same speed. I'm still not sure if Chrome OS has a "time to full" charging indicator or anything, though. With the Pixels 60W Type-C charger, the thing charges so dang fast it's almost always fully charged
You can use an app called GSam battery to measure the current, very interested to know if the A port is a proper 3A one

No. I just received it today, and the usb-c interface is for charging the battery only. The legacy USB interface is said to support fast charging, but it didn't when I connected it to my Nexus 6P; it charged the phone at normal speeds.
I suspect the advertising around "bi directional usb-c" means simply you can plug the cable in both ways, and "fast charging" means you can charge the *battery* quicker.
In fact, if you connect the battery and a Nexus 6P via a usb-c cable, the phone starts charging the battery!

This is true on many (all?) batteries that allow you to both charge or discharge on the Type-C port. You might have to push the power button for the phone to start charging. What happens if you unplug the Type-C cable, push the power button on the battery, and then plug the Type-C cable back in? Does the phone start drawing power from the battery instead of charging the external battery?
IF the phone starts charging itself from the external battery, can you please let us know how much power is being delivered per the Ampere app? I'd be curious to know this. I couldn't find anything on Xiaomi's web site that gave a definitive output current number.

Nope, pressing the button on the battery makes no difference (before or after being plugged in to the phone). The USB-C port is purely for charging the battery, not for using the battery to charge other devices.
I've attached a scan of the booklet that came with the battery. You'll need to read Chinese (I can't) to understand it though. 2 colleagues have told me it explicitly says only the legacy USB port can be used to charge other devices.

I fell for the same ****. I got mine today for $60 AUD, the only reason i paid that is there is no power banks in Australia that support USB-C. The USB-C port is only for charging the power bank, you can also charge the power bank using your phone. Xiaomi mi 10000mah doesn't rapid charge.

Hi guys, sorry for the UP but I bought the power bank today and I run into your same issues.
I saw a video (in bangladeshian, LOL) that actually from Type C port you can fast-charge the Nexus 6P, and also if the phone is off, it starts to get fast-charged by the battery via USB-C.
So basically, is there a question to disable "Nexus power output"? This way the USB quick charging should work fine.

This powerbank looks quite nice but it doesn't support USB Type-C Fast Charging. It only supports 2.0A output so it won't charge the Nexus 6P or 5X at full speed . Looks like I'm gonna be looking elsewhere.

So no quick charging with it unfortunately.
Hello,
I bought a google pixel yesterday. Everything went fine at first, even charging it. But today, I'm trying to charge it and it charges really really slowly. 5% in two hours, and it loses battery if I use it when charging.
Found out in parameters > battery that my phone says it's charging by USB even though my phone is connected to the wall socket.
So basically I can't charge my phone.
I don't have more cables, I'm using the one that was sold with the phone. So I'm gonna return my phone to where I bought it.
Any advise / help / solution in the meantime?

Try rebooting the phone and switching the orientation of the usb-c cable as it's plugged into your phone. There's been reports of problems with the stock charger and it's not clear if it's a problem with the phone or charger.

I rebooted it, factory reset with all data wiped, nothing changed. Still says "USB charging" while being on the AC.
Not sure about the orientation of the USB-C. I'm using the USB-C to USB-B cable sold with the phone, and plug the USB-B to an AC adapter that I previously owned and works just fine (no issue until 4 hours). I live in a tiny country where the pixel is sold with a british adapter which doesn't work since we don't use the british sockets here, so I don't use the USB-C to C that is used with this adapter. Not sure if I'm being clear. But I don't think it's relevant anyway. Yesterday it was charging just fine.

The Pixel comes with a AC charger which a USB-C connector on it. The cable it comes with is also a USB-C to USB-C cable. The other cable USB-A - USB-C with the adapter is for quick data transfers, not for quick charging.
It comes with TWO cables, one adapter and one USB-C Charger AC plug.

Very sorry about the confusion. I use the USB-A - USB-C cable that I plug to a AC charger that works in my country. The phone charged just fine yesterday as far as I know, but not today. The AC charger sold with the Pixel doesn't work in my country since we don't use the same socket.
Is it possible your charger just went bad?
So, the USB-C cable was indeed the one I should have used. I just bought an adapter for the british socket of the original adapter, and now the phone is charging perfectly. So problem solved, thank you all for helping.
I bought this desktop charger on Amazon specifically because it did not have a hard wired cable and apparently would allow use of the Pixel XL OEM USB C cable and charger to support rapid charging.

Surprise. The input port on this charger is micro USB not USB C, and the included cable is USB A to micro USB. It doesn't accommodate the OEM USB C cable and charger. Nowhere in the description does it mention micro USB. If you look closely at the picture, you can tell what it it is, but describing it specifically as a "Pixel XL Charger" is misleading (at least to me).
The hardware is good quality and of course works as a (slow) charger for the Pixel. As often happens with a low prioced item, it's not worth the cost of return shipping to get a refund so I'll just use it as is.
From the picture it mind of looks like that but not easy to tell. I agree. I also wouldn't feel comfortable with having it hold up the phone by only the charging port. Just a bad feeling that it could break the phone.

They sent you the wrong dock by accident. If you look at the reviews on amazon, people actually posted pics of the Type C version. Are they not wanting to exchange it? I wouldn't buy that one anyways because the design is EXTREMELY flawed. The Pixel XL is heavy, top heavy, that port wouldn't last too long supporting all that weight at a 40* angle.
I see no other version of this dock. This one has a USB-C on which the phone stands, and a microUSB port in the base. Based on a review from another buyer, it does provide rapid charging when connected to an OEM Pixel charger block using a USB-C to microUSB cable. Problem is the cable provided with the dock is USB-A to microUSB, preventing use of the OEM USB-C charger. I've ordered the correct cable and will see if it works.
I am very happy with the Seidio one. It has USB-C for both connectors: https://www.seidioonline.com/product/seidio-desktop-charging-cradle-type-c/
I would avoid any dock that does not have a stand section. As was said, the Pixel XL is fairly heavy. I went another way I picked up one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XDJ2K44/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm not sure how but when a use a wireless fast charger the Pixel says "Charging Rapidly". The connector is easy to remove for connection to a PC or standard USB-C charger. It also fits with my Spigen Rugged Armor case. At first there was a small bump on the back that kept the phone from laying completely flat on it's back. After 3 days that bump seems to be gone.

I bought a USB-C to microUSB cable and tried this dock with the OEM USB-C charger that came with the Pixel XL. Works, but still no rapid charging. Am returning the cable and using the USB-A to microUSB that came with the dock.
On the dock itself: As I mentioned before, it's high quality and the USB-C connector snaps securely when the phone is mounted. The phone stands nearly vertical and it seems to place very little leaning pressure on the dock's USB-C plug. Other docks for USB-C that I've used (e.g. with a Nexus 6P) held the phone at more of an angle and needed a "backrest" to offset the lean. We'll see over time on this one, but so far I love the look of the dock and the "snap-in-place" when mounting the phone.

No USB-A to USB-C cable will allow rapid charging of the Pixel XL. The cable must be USB-C - USB-C and the brick needs to support PD rapid charging. You cannot use a QC3.0 Fast Charger. It will not charge it rapidly.
I thought my wireless stand was charging rapidly but while it says it is, it is still slow charging. Fast wireless charging is the ONLY think I miss about the S7.
I'm using an original dash car charger that worked fine on my 6T however when I plug it in it to my 7 Pro it only for a moment says charging rapidly then quickly changes to simply charging. Seems it's only getting a max current of 1.4A ...Can anyone else confirm this? Is it a bug?

I did see this posted the other day on Android Police..
https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/...ables-charge-the-7-pro-at-full-warp-30-speed/
Same, I have a 3rd party dash charger that worked fine on 6/6t, slow charges on 7 pro tho.

That is testing warp charge using the same warp brick with different cables, not the same situation as fast charging. Old Dash chargers could fast charge but not warp charge, now it seems only standard charging is available on old Dash chargers. That's a real shame considering the new warp car charger is $50.

My bad, I read that all too fast. I also just looked and see that don't even sell the warp brick. I had to buy another charger last week as well but would have went with the old ones if they worked.
I noticed Warp charge does charge faster especially from 85 to 100%, Using my old Dash Charger and Dash Car chargers, it seemed to charge about as fast as it did for my OP6 which slowed from 85% to 100%. So to me needing to buy Warp charging cables is not worth it. I will keep all my older Dash chargers and just use Warp charge in locations I need a faster charge.
I used a 5t charger today. Charged quick but I didn't time it

I'm asking if it specifically says "charging rapidly" for you guys, you are all being very non specific and keep mentioning warp charge. The cords have been tested and don't matter for warp charging only if you are using the warp charger but that's not my issue. I'm asking if dash charging is working consistently. There will be a lightening symbol in the top right status bar and it will say "charging rapidly" on the lockscreen. Mine starts and immediately stops on stock rom using a stock dash charger.

I have the same problem with a 3rd party dash charger I bought on Aliexpress... Slow charging only.

I wouldn't call that a problem. Being Oneplus leading in changing speeds with their included chargers, why would a 3rd party charger best their technology..

Yeah I agree with that. But with my 6T i had dash charge without any problem and now with my 7 Pro I only have slow charge.
Mine still shows "Fast Charging" when using a OnePlus 6 brick and the standard OnePlus cable.
Just as an FYI, you don't need the 5 dollar more expensive cable for Warp Charge cables. The original cables allow Warp charging just fine.
5t dash charger with 1+cable charges at 3.3ah. I don't have the warp one here to try

My old OnePlus 6T charges fast along with the PD charger I have

No it's not a bug. Dash charge and Warp charge are 2 different things. Warp charge is faster and uses a different brick and cable. Using any other charger (fast charge or not) you will just get regular charging speeds since the only type of fast charging supported is Warp Charge.

There is no dash charge on the 7 Pro? Dash charge is the older standard you can't Dash charge with anything on the 7 Pro. You either use the Warp Charge cable and brick and get Warp Charging or you use any other brick and get standard charging. OnePlus has their own fast charge standard and it only works with their brick and cable and for the 7 Pro it's Warp Charging.

Also they stopped using the branding "Dash Charge" if you look on the OnePlus site they have the "OnePlus Fast Charging Adapter" it works with the OnePlus 3 all the way to the 6T. Starting with the 7 Pro it's now Warp Charge. 2 Different things and not backwards compatible. Using an old brick not for the 7 Pro will not get you Dash Charge, Warp Charge, or Fast Charge. You just get regular old charging.
here are my measurements using the Dash and the Warp charger ...
so, both work as they are intended ...

I see the results, I believe the results, I just can't get those results for my Dash car charger. The AC Warp charger crams in about 5 A for me, but moving to the Dash car charger (phone at same charge level.... very low) I get less than 1700mA. Not sure what the deal is. The Dash car charger is new. I tried swapping cables from the Warp to the Dash.

hmmm, strange
i´m using my old dash charger from the 5t in the office, and the new warp charger at home. i even use the old cable that comes with.
perhaps it´s because it´s the car charger ... i also have an old dash car charger i bought with the 5t, i´ll try out and let you know !
