[How To] Root OPO without unlocking bootloader ?

Currently running COS13 Stock 6.0.1. Has anyone ever tried rooting the OPO without unlocking bootloader ? Is it possible ? If yes, how ?

No, I don't trust apps because they're bad and without unlocking bootloader is like calling for BS because it can brick your phone and without OEM unlocking ticked we can't unlock bootloader. Then your phone would work till bootanim but would be rendered useless (impossible to unbrick)

What's your reason behind not wanting to unlock your bootloader?

I unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom rom from androplus that had supersu.
after the rom was installed the unlocking status is unlock allowed: no
now I have a nagging notification to update android on my phone and it can't because I'm running a custom rom, and I can't update the rom because the bootloader is locked. what do I do?

So, basically you unlocked your bootloader to flash a custom rom and now you want to receive official ota updates from Sony?
If so, you have to stay in stock roms (flash with flashtool in flashmode or Xperia Compation in repair option) otherwise you need to wait for developer of custom rom you installed for an update.

no not quite, as I said I want to update the custom rom, but I can't flash another rom because my bootloader has been locked and I can't unlock it again.
the escape plan would be to flash stock rom back onto it, but I'd like to keep supersu if possible.

no, the site that provides the guide and key to unlock the bootloader specifically says I can't unlock it if the status says unlocked allowed: no
are you saying I should try anyway? other forums says there is no way around it if unlocked allowed is no.
the reason I haven't tried is the threat of having my data wiped without actually unlocking it

If you can enter recovery then make a full backup

lock and unlock your bootloader as many times as u want by FLASHTOOL. just keep the key with you
or even if you lost the key! request new from sony website.

1. Qfil flashtool driver ( install them first)
2. Qfil flashtools
3. Android Debug Bridge ( ADB)

Place the zips into your internal stoarge and use settings/system/system update ( fota app)
How To:
extract the downloaded zip files
1. install QPST/QFIL Flashtools and place adb to C:/
2. Install drivers ( qualcom drivers. make sure that they dont interrupt with other device drivers you have .)
enable usb debugging in developer settings
you have to reboot your device into edl mode by

C:\>cd adb
adb shell
reboot edl
phone will reboot to edl mode ( black screen, no led)
Now check your device manager . the COM & LTP port should show "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008"
if not then update the driver and choose it from your internal list. or google for it
if the driver is fine, open the QPST/QFIL FLashtool in
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Qualcomm\QPST\bin\QFIL.exe
prepare the Flashtool:
in Select Build Type:
choose: Flat Build
in Select Programmer:
browse and choose the "prog_emmc_ufs_firehose_Sdm660_ddr.elf" file
( you cant see it, change to "all files" )
Load XML:
now choose the rawprogram_unsparse.xml and right after the patch0.xml
you can press the "download button"
wait a bit , at the end of the flashing procedure it will make an error, thats normal because i left the patch0.xml empty.
after all disconnect the cable and hold Power button a few seconds. phone will reboot .
the build is without userdata that means it will be Stock and like a factory reset.

My Elephone U Pro has stock rom Build 20180227 and stopped receiving OTA, dont know why the updates stopped from Elephone, do you know why?
Would like to use the OTA files doing your instructions:

2. then this 20180918
Place the zips into your internal stoarge and use settings/system/system update ( fota app)"
can this be done directly or before doing this, i need to do other manual updates (from April/May)?
Does this will change bootloader status?
May i lose IMEI's?
Do this will disable oficial OTA's (if there is any) from Elephone?

You can do it.
(Hope there is no error 20 issue) when tell me I know how to fix.
You will nothing.
Just update.
And future also will work (at least I hope , that the ota system don't work is a Elephone issue..)

I have local updated without any issues. Thank you. At least the security patch is now 5 Sept 2018.
Not sure if it's relevant but on Play Store > Settings it now shows that the device is not certified. But i think i don't need that and will be a problem more for Android Pay users.

I know. Only 0227 and 423 base has certified play protect.
But it is not an issue at all.
All will work.
Not certified means that the safety net isn't passed.
You can fix it with root. And a patch.
But for only stock users that isn't a problem.
I think all will work.
You can check that. Search in playstore for Netflix
. If you can install that app , all is fine.
Btw.
In 3hours I upload the new 20190918 base stock rom.
With locked bootloader. So it's fully stock . I was able to fix that unlock issue in later builds...

This is the latest rom. (There is the no forward OTA file)
And flashing will wipe all.
So I would say stay on the ROM you are and wait until Elephone fixes the issues with ota

no elephone ota issue we have two the one with the factory for updated normally the one with yours april stock rom no
I have a laptop now with win 10 but I can not connect to the phone the adb commands do not work on C
can not put the phone on debag mode and can not make a back up of it
im stuck with sceletons rom and do not know how to update this

I provided a solution for it.
Flash stock 227 rom
Flash the 227ota dtv stock then
After that it's works and all fine...
Not at home now, so I can't provide the files..

Error Message: "The system has been destroyed"

So what happened was I ran into some issues with notifications not being pushed onto the phone. I thought it was a MIUI version problem, because previously I didn't have any problems with notifications, and it was only until after the latest MIUI 10.2.2.0 update that I ran into them. And so I decided to download the official MIUI v10.2.1.0 ROM from xiaomi's official website and tried to downgrade. Big mistake.
Now my phone is perpetually being stuck with the error message "The system has been destroyed". I really don't know what to do and I'm hoping someone here is able to help me with it. My Mix 3 is running MIUI v10.2.2.0 prior to the downgrade, and has the China ROM. Bootloader is locked too. Is there anything that I can do to kick the phone out of this status? If you need more information, I will gladly provide them. Will greatly appreciate any help that comes by. Thanks.

Checking your phone if it can get into bootloader.
If it can,just open the unlock application and unlock again.
And then you can use miflash to flash 10.2.1.0 on your device.

How do I know if the phone can get into bootloader? Sorry I'm pretty new to this bootloader thing. Honestly, this Mix 3 was my first ever Xiaomi device so I'm a bit unfamiliar with how it works.
If you meant holding down the Volume Down and Power button to access Fastboot mode, then yes, that's the only thing I have access to currently. Otherwise, no...

It should be possible to use fastboot to install a working official firmware. Was your device originally a Chinese ROM or Global ROM device?

It was originally Chinese ROM. So I guess flashing a Global ROM wouldn't work? Especially since the bootloader is locked.

But doesn't the bootloader have to be unlocked for a fastboot recovery?

Hi. My friend has a Mi Mix 2S and he bought it as a Global Unlocked Version... Like always, it turned out to be a china specific device and he accidentally flashed global rom with miflash and it was set to "Clean and Lock"... Now the device keeps boot looping into recovery and says "This Miui version cannot be installed in this device"... I tried via test point but my account is not authorized. Is there any other unofficial way to recover my device without paying anymore to s-unlock or any other shady services? Regards, InfernoWolf19.

unfortunately, no. the only thing u can do is either bring it to a service centre or buy a new phone.

have you tried boot to bootloader and reflash China rom ? I think the miui package ended with tgz can be unzipped and run flash_all script from fastboot

Your only chance is to pay for the shady service...
