[How To] Root OPO without unlocking bootloader ? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently running COS13 Stock 6.0.1. Has anyone ever tried rooting the OPO without unlocking bootloader ? Is it possible ? If yes, how ?

No, I don't trust apps because they're bad and without unlocking bootloader is like calling for BS because it can brick your phone and without OEM unlocking ticked we can't unlock bootloader. Then your phone would work till bootanim but would be rendered useless (impossible to unbrick)

Pls dont try this just unlock your bootloader!

You will most likely lose root and TWRP, but your bootloader should remain unlocked.
thanks guys, last question there is some risk to unlock the bootloader ?

If you're worried about bricking the device, the risk is very low. All you are doing is simply typing "fastboot oem unlock". It isnt meant to be anything dangerous or risky.
In terms of security however, there are some risks. If your bootloader is unlocked, a thief can easily flash a recovery and pull your potentially important and private information/data. Although the likelihood of the thief knowing how to do this is very low.
Sir will this guide also work for Oneplusone on cm13-Incremental-OTA-Official?
searching everywhere but couldn't find any guide to unlock bootloader on official Cos13.If anybody has successfully unlocked his bootloader on official cm13 then kindly guide the same to me.
Thank You.

Bootloader

Quick question, I've rooted with kingroot ,replaced with SuperSU and have twrp as my recovery with locked bootloader,my question is do I need to unlock bootloader to reinstall stock recovery.
Thanks

you can try to flash stock recovery the same way you flashed your twrp.
if it doesn't work you'll need to unlock bootloader and flash stock via that.
Unlock the bootloader - it costs nothing (just to send an email to Huawei) and then you can do whatever you want.
Anubis
Yes unlocked bootloader and now back to stock.
Thanks

Can I unlock bootloader on 5.1.1 eXistenZ rom?

How can I unlock the bootloader on my rooted 5.1.1 d6603 eXistenZ rom without having to loose all my data? And if that's not possible, then how can I unlock the bootloader period? Does it matter if you're rooted and can you do it while on 5.1.1?

You always lose data when you unlock the bootloader.
It does not matter what ROM you are on or if you are rooted.
Any ROm that works on locked bootloader also works on unlocked bootloader
To unlock the bootloader go here http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/
Will I loose root and my dual recovery and if so is there root for 5.1.1? Thanks for the help.

No, (well you shouldn't) as root and recovery are installed to the system. Unlocking the boot does wipe data though.
And if once you have an unlocked bootloader you can always root any firmware on any android version. That's the main reason to unlock the bootloader. You will also be able to delete recovery from your system and have a custom kernel with recovery built into it.

Xperia Z5 Bootloader unlocking not allowed after having unlocked it once before?

When I got my phone, the unlocking status was unlock allowed: yes
I unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom rom from androplus that had supersu.
after the rom was installed the unlocking status is unlock allowed: no
now I have a nagging notification to update android on my phone and it can't because I'm running a custom rom, and I can't update the rom because the bootloader is locked. what do I do?

So, basically you unlocked your bootloader to flash a custom rom and now you want to receive official ota updates from Sony?
If so, you have to stay in stock roms (flash with flashtool in flashmode or Xperia Compation in repair option) otherwise you need to wait for developer of custom rom you installed for an update.

no not quite, as I said I want to update the custom rom, but I can't flash another rom because my bootloader has been locked and I can't unlock it again.
the escape plan would be to flash stock rom back onto it, but I'd like to keep supersu if possible.

no, the site that provides the guide and key to unlock the bootloader specifically says I can't unlock it if the status says unlocked allowed: no
are you saying I should try anyway? other forums says there is no way around it if unlocked allowed is no.
the reason I haven't tried is the threat of having my data wiped without actually unlocking it

relock bootloader

Hello, can anyone confirm that after a relock of the bootloader the Mix 3 becomes a brick? This is supposed to be so, according to Trading Shenzhen. I'd like to switch back to Global Stable and close the bootloader for Google Pay.
I have relocked accidentally with a fastboot flash of a rom with MiFlash and my device is not became a brick.
The best way for you is to flash a fastboot original rom and choose the option "Clean all and lock" in MiFash program.

It will brick if you lock a Chinese device on global rom or a global device with Chinese rom

bootloader play store
i saw you say something about google play, does unlocking the bootloader cause the device to not be certified anymore? and can you 'recertify' the device just by locking the bootloader again?

No, it doesn't. Every Android device I've ever owned has had an unlocked bootloader, and I've never had a problem with the Play store.
my specific problem is that i can't download Netflix (yes very 1st world?), it just says your device isn't compatible with this version
mix 3 with an unlocked bootloader, current os: miui 11 global (i flashed miui 10 then updated with standard updater), previous os: miui 11 global
