Well, title says it all. Can't get Assistant open with the phrase. Tried retraining the voice model a bunch of times, turned off and and on voice search in activities and have restarted my phone. I'm rooted with magisk. Anyone else experiencing issues with assistant?
Me.
I am 9.5.4, unlocked bootloader, magisk installed, super clean installation. Ok Google recognition was working totally perfect the few times I used it in 12 hours; in the last 5 hours it started not picking any voice command, be it in a locked screen or not. Wiping Google's cache didn't help. It must have something to do with OOS (maybe rooting? not likely I guess)
PS voice dictation seems to be working properly

I'm on 9.5.3 with the other stuff the same. And yeah, all the other voice stuff works. I can open assistant other ways and then use my voice to say a command. Just cant activate assistant with voice. Hopefully it's not something to do with rooting, that would suck...

It cannot be. I used to activate Google assistant during the few hours after having rooted my phone and it was fine. It just stopped working. It sucks but that's our paycheck for being early adopters lol

After having tried all of the solutions I could think of - clear Google app cache, clear Play services cache, clear any sort of account, clear my desk lol, uninstall and install updates here and there, retrain voice, change languages - I reset everything and start with a fresh OOS install. Now it works no matter what as I am still rooted, with Nova and I have rebooted my phone several times. I suggest you to do the same. Well, maybe wait a couple of days so I can tell you whether it stops working or not. FINGERS CROSSED!!

You have updated OOS ie you went from 9.5.3 to 9.5.4 and then 9.5.5 so did I. And so my phone was screwed.
Take my advice: backup, uninstall all Magisk modules and then go to settings and reset everything. You won't even need to boot your phone from a modified boot image!
Please do it for me lol
Any chance of resolving this without full reset?
I'm seeing something similar, 9.5.5 with magisk and Nova, upgraded from 9.5.4. I did full flash of 9.5.5 OTA (ie. all partitions not incremental) without wiping data.
I can only get Assistant to react when the screen is off or when the screen is "half on" (ie. black screen with clock). Other places it does not work, ex. lock screen, home screen, in the assistant app, in the Google app etc..
In 9.5.4 I could get the assistant to react from the home screen but never when using a BT headset.
Hi,
I can not use assistant
I set my voice in the settings , but when the screen is turned on and I say "ok google" the wizard does not run.
If the screen is off, the "ok google" launches but I can not talk to him. He does not react to the voice.
I erase the cache + data from the wizard but nothing to do.
Do you have any ideas.
Thank you
I don't root
Sorry for my english, I do my best
Bringing up the post hoping for new insights. Mine just suddenly stop working.

Did you find a resolution to this issue? I'm experiencing the same and have not been able to fix it...
Edit:
I see that you've resolved the issue. I'm not using the Plus Beat app so your resolution will no help me.
I'm 9.5.5.GM21BA, rooted with Magisk 19.3 and Nova launcher (no idea if this matters).
I already saw this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/help/google-match-lockscreen-t3936647
But hiding Google Services Framework and Google Play Services in Magisk didn't help.
Any tips are welcome.
I don't root
Maybe an incompatibility with another application or Nova

I can't use OK Google, and OTA doesn't work because the OTA process detects that I'm rooted, and tells it tells me No Update for you. Why does Samsung always have to make things more difficult than they should be?

The same thing happened to me. Though my situation was a bit weirder. I got it to work this morning (about an hour ago), then 5 minutes later, it wouldn't and the setting to use it from any screen disappeared.
I'm having the same issue.
My "OK Google" detection from any screen option disappeared.
same here
option is gone
only work if i have the widget on home screen
Weird, I keep seeing this issue pop up in several threads. Mine works just fine. For what it's worth, I'm on the latest OTA and rooted, using Nova Launcher.
Same here. I have even tried it the first time with the lock screen, but now I can only use it with the screen on. Options for screen off have dissapeared
I just updated my google play services to this one
http://www.talkandroid.com/245692-go...d/#more-245692
installed the apk, now my google detection from any screen is gone now to , might have to do with this version of the play services.

anyone here experiencing the same or find a solution?
My buddy is also experiencing this. None of the potential fixes he found worked. Reverting to old versions, clearing data, or enabling "Enhanced" voice support didn't fix it.
I've seen some people mention Google disabled the feature due to the phone picking up excess background noise and interpreting it as "Ok Google."
Gone for me too.
Weirder still (and completely infuriating), that option is gone, but I now have "trusted voice" under smart lock, but of course no ability to use it.
Yeah.. why wouldn't google or samsung communicate what they did and what they will do about it... hmmmm
Ok Google missing
I wonder if it has anything to do with Samsung's S-voice being able to open the phone from a "screen off" position?
Maybe Samsung and Google fighting it out?
Just resurrecting this to see if anybody knows of any updated info on this?? I really miss this.
It is now fixed!!!!! simply go to the play store, or your application manager, uninstall updates and reinstall.
I can confirm it is back up and running look likes it was a conflict with Samsung voice...
My google now from any screen no longer works as well

Trying to turn on the "Ok Google" voice activation option... but I can't get it to work.
I've attached a couple screen shots. I hit the agree button on that first screen and it takes me to the second and just stays there. Nothing ever happens.
Any ideas?
I ended up force stopping the Google app and then doing the retraining. Works fine now.
Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

I had to do something similar, but I think I disabled the Google app, then re-enabled it. (Which also would have stopped and started it, I guess.) I think it happened because the first time through setup I canceled the voice training without finishing it (was in a noisy environment). When I went back to it later, it froze on that screen.
yup... y'all are correct. i stopped google and i actually cleared the data (not sure that was necessary). worked just fine after. thanks!
My "Ok Google" hotword does not work anywhere EXCEPT the lock screen and waking device. Once my phone is unlocked, it will not respond. When I tap the microphone icon, it will listen, and the voice typing on my keyboard works. So I don't think it's an application holding the mic.
Issue on OOS 9.5.3 and OOS 9.5.6. I am rooted, but no mods that would affect mic.
I have gone through the usual:
- Toggling Voice Match off/on
- Deleting voice model and retraining
- Deleting the offline speech recognition language pack (US English) and re-downloading
- Clearing cache AND data from the Google app
- Removing the latest update, and going through the above in an older version
- Installing latest Google app (even tried beta).
Essentially, I've gone through all the troubleshooting steps I could find from Google and other sources. It seems like a security thing gone buggy but I can't for the life of me figure it out. Any help is appreciated.
Update: I added the Google app to Magisk hide and it now works as intended. I never had to hide it before on my 6t.
EDIT: Just hiding Google Play Services works.
Thank you for posting this. I have the exact same issue. Lock screen and "wake screen" I get a response but nowhere else.
I've tried all the steps you mentioned except Google app beta. Sadly Magisk hide on the Google app dosen't help me.
I'm 9.5.5.GM21BA, rooted with Magisk 19.3 and Nova launcher (no idea if this matters).
Anyone else having issues? Got any tips for me OP? Could it be that the combination of Magisk hide and something else you did resolved the problem for you?

I was mistaken - hide Google Services Framework. That worked for me.
I don't root
Maybe an incompatibility with another application or Nova
Edit
oups topic error
going insane with this. won't work just like you describe. recognizes OK GOOGLE only when screen is locked but won't perform anything.
hiding google play services and then rebooting did nothing to help for me unfortunately
Any new fixes for this one? Even with latest 9.5.13 OS, "Ok Google" is broken. I need this for traveling while driving.

Update: found the culprit, it's an App ? .. Specifically it's my Touch Blocker app that I use in AFK'ing Online Games
I'm using a Pixel, still on Android 9, and my orientation sensor (and accelerometer) have suddenly stopped working. However, it appears that it's a software issue as the auto-rotation still works when in Safe Mode. I've uninstalled every app that's been updated in the past two days (roughly when I think this problem began) but it's still a no-go. I've also installed a sensor test app and I find the sensors do work initially on boot, but freeze after 5 seconds or so.
Any ideas of how I might fix this?
Clear system cache.
You update, install or uninstall any apps recently?
I tried clearing the cache but it didn't change anything. I also uninstalled all the apps that had recently updated, restarting the phone each time, but the sensor is still frozen unfortunately.

Factory reset time...
I have the same problem also with Pixel 1 and it happened on the same day (Oct 20)! The difference is I'm on Android 10.
After factory reset and backup restore it works.
After updating all apps, it still works.
After restart once all apps are updated... No work.

Roll back to factory settings, one by one and find the culprit(s). Sounds like a rogue 3rd party app.
Once I have a device running well I almost never update anything. I'll run on the factory loaded versions for years many times. Result, no issues.

Thanks for the help! How do I do this?
The return to factory settings is in the app under settings.
You can try uninstalling it otherwise.
I don't see that option all the time and you may have to hit uninstall for it to appear.
A forced stop might be enough for troubleshooting.
Typically I use my package disabler for things like this.
So I've done a factory reset with no restore (to keep it clean). Updated every app individually and restarted the device each time.
Updated GOOGLE MAPS. Rebooted.
Presto! All sensors are now locking up and battery starts burning away.
Disabled Google Maps, cleared cache + data, and rebooted. Problem did NOT go away. Now I'm doing one more (hopefully last) restore and will disable Google Maps right away.
Wow... did not expect it to be Maps...

I'm not, Gmaps updates are a back street abortion.
So it was the update that trashed it?
I always keep gmail and maps on the factory load version. Invariably updates make them less user friendly on a Samsung
I set Playstore settings for auto updates by wifi only.
I always keep wifi disabled, effectively preventing any auto updating. I also firewall block and disable Playstore unless I need it. It's a background pocket hog.
Updates generally cause more harm than good if the app is already running well...
I have the same issue, and after guessing which app was causing the problem I found out it's the Google app. I disabled it and all the sensors started working back and also automatic brightness. Also I tried leaving the beta updates of the Google app and whenever the Google app is active the sensors stops working. Probably Google trying to kill the pixel 1 or a new function conflicting with the sensors
Oh my god! I have the same issue! Stock Android 10.
Sensors work fine on Safe Mode, but on normal mode they sometimes don't work.
Same problem here, since a couple of days ago, some sensors (gyro, light, accelerometer, compas) stop working after a couple of seconds after reboot. I factory reset my pixel, I tried uninstalling GMaps, I tried deactivating Wifi and Bluetooth,... but nothing is working.
Proximity sensor still work though.

Have you tried disabling Google app as mentioned by cristejeda33 above?
I have the same issues, it happens when one or more apps get updated, don't now which one is causing it exactly, but the issue goes away after the next update, and comes back at the next update and so on ..., features like, adaptive brightness, tap to wake, lift to wake, display rotation os and in camera, youtube video rotation....... stopped working and the battery is draining a lot faster. thinking of getting rid of the good old pixel ..

Try disabling Google play Services... just a wild guess.
It's a dependency or a parent app of Google App that's maybe causing the trouble. These can be hard to ferret out... play with it.
You could just go shotgun and revert all Google apps to factory load version -if- it wasn't a system wide firmware update that triggered it.
I've experienced this too many times, updates break things.
On my N10+ I lock down all updates, especially firmware. I'm rarely updated anything because it causes trouble. Result is a very fast and stable operating platform with minimum maintenance required. When there is an issue it's much easier to track down as the system is a known and familiar quantity. My current load is over a year and a half old... still running strong.
Wife and I are using OG Pixels and a couple of weeks ago we both noticed massive battery degradation. Then we both realized that auto rotate is extremely slow as are a bunch of sensors. Skymap doesn't track anymore. Both our phones also get extremely hot.
Google brought us here and we see that stopping the Google app makes the sensors work normally again. Lots of issues being reported in the playstore for this app also. Would love to hear if anyone has made any headway working around this or are we screwed until an update comes out?
What's the best way we can report this to Google publicly? And put the link here
All accelerometer, compass, gyroscope and proximity sensors turned off a few days ago on my og pixel and after disabling the google app all the sensors are working again.
I had a look on the play store and the last update for the google app was on the 21st October, which is exactly when it broke.
I disabled google maps first, then the google app, then sensors worked, so i re-enabled the maps app, I then cleared the cache on the google app and re-enabled that too, and all is still working.
Thank you very, very much for finding the cause of this, I was about to factory reset the phone and then have to reload everything which may or may not have worked anyway. Your efforts are much appreciated, long may your technology function correctly.
