Can you suggest and App to show people how fast the phone is, and to show off the display ?
Showing people it can open Gmail is not too impressive
While I can't think of any one app to do that specifically, you can demonstrate using multiple apps, and show how quickly that you can switch between them. Social media is a GREAT example because that's what most people desire.
Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, back to Instagram. Do it as fast as you can. That should get the job done.

I never had a smartphone so may look like a stupid question
I know you can do many great stuff, like browsing net, listening music, using skype, watching movies, etc. But is there something really cool? I know there a thousands of great apps to download but most of them you don't need. I mean yeah you can have cool weather app in your phone but who cares, you can just go to web and look what the weather will be.. It looks like smartphone is just an expensive toy, or?
I plan on buying SGS2 and I like browsing net, watching movies, so I definitelly will find what to do with this phone, but I wonder maybe it's something cool what I still don't know
once you have a smartphone you will soon learn to rely on it for everything....it becomes a necessary evil lol
don't think of it as a phone, more like a handheld computer that can do everything you desire and still make phone calls
Games
I use mine as a to replace my psp, mp3 and usb stick. But the most useful is web browsing

GAMES...it's freaking me out every time playing mobile games on a touching screen
have full control ..........
Well games are something what I really don't plan to do on smartphone. Unless really cool games comes up
You do everything on it... quick computer needs, write notes, keep schedule, check mail, send mail, read news updates, play games while riding the bus. You know, the usual stuff.
I find it impossible to go back...
Convenience. What else?
You can do pretty much everything: play games, listen to music, take pictures, record video, browse your internet, download lots of useful apps from the Market, root your phone, install custom ROMs, and even make your own ROMs!
Games, Movies, Music, GPS, Camera, Calendar, Internet and more and more... and this is why it is so needed. There are so many things to do with a smartphone and i'm sure when you'll get one you won't sorry and you'll know what to do with it.
I dont use it as phone. More of a pocketable laptop.

IMHO is a complete replacement of a pc
Games, Music, Ebooks, ..... But it can't replace a PC
So I wasn't sure if this was the right place for this so if a mod needs to move it feel free and thanks ahead of time.
So my idea here is to make a list of realistic apps that Devs (perhaps new app creators) might make. Discuss the possible usage of the app and ways of making it work.
So I have 3 ideas:
1 - a way to send links to your comp from your phone without having an extension (instead have like a .net receiving server that will open it in your preferred web browser)
2 - Send page/link from phone (& if possible comp, but phone would be best) to tablet.
3 - a video catcher. When you stream a video it asks which app do you want to use to play it and instead of streaming you choose this app and download it.
(1 & 2 might be able to be combined)

I recently thought of another good idea
For the Facebook power user that has a lot of friends... a way to fetch all friends and there most recent post only and display them in a vertical linear timeline or alphabetical with "like" & "comment" button. And then you can click or hover over 1 friend and see their last 5 or 10 updates with the same buttons.
Also maybe a similar setup for G+, Twitter, or another social media.
Another big step would maybe be a merger of all 3 and if a friend is on more than one you could link them.....
Just an idea that I thought I'd share, I know I would love for this to be a reality as I'm sure others would too.

I like the video download/stream option application, it should be based on decoding flash and catching flv or mp4 (not youtube).

That's a good idea, just one Q. Do you mean catch from an embedded flash/HTML5 player?
I was talking about sites that below the embed have a mobile stream option or when you click a link and and it opens the "play with" option text.
Catch from an embedded format like flowplayer or MegaVideo would require the app to be an integrated browser/plugin and share the page to (or just an addon for like dolphin). If FF mobile worked the way it said yoi could just install a plugin like downthemall or something similar made for your PC/Unix machine and do it that way...
Thoughts?

I like flipbook on my Android phone, because in collects and mixes popular news coming from different sources like twitter, facebook, news feeds, ..
It's also very fast and has a decent layout.
But its not available for Android tablets ;-(
I tried Currents, Pulse and Tapto, but all lack the possibility to mix social feeds and news feeds.
Any alternatives?
feedly is a very nice app for on the tablet.
However I don't know if you can mix social and news feeds. I just use it for RSS.
It is called Flipboard not Flipbook.
That may explain why you can't find it.
Because as you can see in this video it works for the tablet:

All social networks and unfree Google proprietary software is a gigantic data mining botnet.

indeed, wrong naming, I'll update the post.
I had a look at the video: it's not available in the play store, but I found and installed the apk: it works but is not usefull as explained in the video: only optimized for phones, not tabets.
tnx anyway!
Yeah there is no landscape mode implemented.
But maybe you are lucky contacting them and asking for one.
I barely got my infinity yesterday and was too disappointed flip board wouldn't download from the play store... So I did a search on this fine Site... "flipboard for android" and found the apk... So now I'm using that just something to think about

Seriously thats the real fun of owning an android device
Remote PC control,
A remote for presentations and such.
Media consumption (Goodness I use my Note more like a tablet than a phone)
I mostly use my android devices for web browsing I would say. First on my OG transformer and now my nexus 7. Its come to the point where i hardly ever turn my PC on anymore. Unless I'm writing up some form of word document or something.
Also EBay, Amazon, Xda, Gmail, YouTube and virtua tennis challenge! Can't stop playing this game as I am a huge tennis man. The controls, graphics and challenge are all fantastic. Not an easy game but a lot of fun on the hardest difficulty level.
Also I use my galaxy nexus and other smartphones before it as my GPS for driving.

I click on a link on the facebook app to read an article, it crashes. I refresh and within 5 seconds, it crashes again. I cannot watch videos on articles that contain them....I get a message that states "Cannot upload/play this video" and then I only get the audio and no image. This happens, even when the link is not through facebook's app, I am just browsing the web browsing app that came with my phone.
What are my options for fixing this issue?
Thanks to all who respond!
