Confusing Fast Charging Issue - Samsung Galaxy S10e Questions & Answers

My S10e is like a week old now and I was charging using the fast charger and assumed everything is on track. When battery hits low like 10% and I put on charge, it says 1hr 30mins or so remaining until full but it's taking way more time that that. Today I noticed that my dad's S9 Plus charges way faster with the same S10e Fast Charges, I am confused and not able to understand why this is happening. If I am on 90% and I charge S10e it says 10-15 minutes to complete the charge and takes that much time approx, when I put S9 Plus on the same with 10%, says 3 minutes until full and finishes it in around 4mins. Why is this disparity?
Also, I did charge my S10e initially with the MacBook charges as I read it's safe but my phone never charged on time and heated the phone so I switched to Original charger. What can be done to fix my issue.
Thanks.

Not sure if it's any consolation, but same sort of scenario with my note 9 compared to the s10.
Edit. I use slow wired charging for both.

I had my phone wirelessly fast charging overnight (I know...), the phone was at 100% in the morning when my alarm went off, but once I took the phone off the wireless charger the phone powered off and was at 0% battery. Has happened twice. I now have wireless fast charging disabled.

How long does your nexus s battery take to charge?

crappy charger. someone asked this a day or so ago here. on phone so cant give you a link. try a search (not being a ****)

I donno...between 3 and 3.5 hours roughly. Pretty fast.
I'm using stock charger that came with phone.
No light indicator to indicate charging or fully charged? I've been charging via USB and it gets to 94%, so fully charged and stops charging. That's as high as it will get...
About to go work out, going to put it on wall charger and see what happens!!
Anyone else have this problem or just me because of the usb charge?
Mine only goes upto 94% br well with the wall charger.
Apparently It's a safety feature

Mine goes to 96% typically and I've once seen it reach 97%, it's a bug, not a safety feature. As a safety feature, to prevent it from overcharging, it's supposed to charge up to 100% then stop charging until it reaches a safety level such as 95% then resume charging again. This is just a bug in the system.
Takes me just over 3 1/2 hours from dead to fully charged.
Mine goes up to 98%. Once in a while it will go up to 99%.

1500mAh/700mA = 2.1h, i.e. less than 2h.
It will never (ever) reach 100% if your charger and phone is working correctly. It IS a safety feature. Eventhough the phone is connected to the charger, it still uses battery to run. The charger stops charging when it gets close to 100% and charges some more when it's safe to do so. Meanwhile the phone uses the battery to stay alive and if you unplug it between theese charging cycles it will be anything between ~93 and ~99%.
It seems like forever honestly with this phone. My Evo would charge in about an hour and a half. This phone takes easily 3.5 hours if not more.
For some reason Samsung chargers take longer to charge a phone.
If I use my HTC charger the phone charges a lot quicker
I also read this somewhere on another site

HTC chargers are typically 1000mah and samsung chargers are 700mah... So there's the difference.
what is up with this phone i went to sprint got a new battery not knowing this was an issue of not getting to 100%. i came from att and having the htc inspire kinda like the evo i guess it would fully charge in about an hour and last me about 12 hrs of actual use. the nexus s takes about 3 hours to fully charge and i get about 5 hours with 0% brightness im thinking about going back and returning the phone.

While I do not what is draining your battery so quickly, the reason for the charge time is stated in the post above yours. The charger that came with the Nexus S is a 700mAh charger, while many others (notably HTC's) use the full 1000mAh charge possible on a MicroUSB line. More power over the same amount of time = faster charging.

how many hours of battery do you get normally?
I got to say via. Battery is a lot better than my desire hd.
This only has a 1230Mah battery. Still can't believe it lol

Mine usually stops charging between 92 and 96 percent. I thought mine took a while to charge until I read somewhere that draining the battery completely leads to faster recharging times. I didn't keep track or anything but it does SEEM to charge faster now.
hi there
is any one have my problem?
i buy a nexus s in yesterday
but the battry cant hold charge for atleast 1 day!!
it usage is about 1 - 2 % charge in every houre!
i do workinig for example 10 minutes with the phone for setting ant etc .and then i saw the 4-6 % of battry charge go down!
or sometimes the phone is puting on standby for 30-40 mintunes
with no sms or calls, but its use about 6 % of battry chage!!!!!
and for wifi and games its even faster that it!
finally for a normal usage like 10-20 sms ,15 min call ,30 min browsing phone menues and apps and 20 web,
its going to be full empty!
and its meaning it cant keep charging for atleast 1 day!
i have the SLCD one ofcourse! => I9023 XXKD1
i couldnt find any superamoled version in my country to buy,
do you think its for the slcd screen?
i didnt think that its may cause this charging resaults for me just for the screen type!!!
my charging time is about 1.5 - 2 houres to full charge, that its not acceptable for me too!
i had a diamond2 with that poor battry.but i didnt think so the NS could be the same and even worst!
i upgrated my device to gingerbread officaly, from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 by the phone, but its still no differance!
it the back of the battry i can see the 1500MA Lion , but the battry control app i my NS shows maximun 1200 MA power!?!!
can it be the truth?
do u think its battry power completly depended to rom and radio version to fix?
if that is,can any one intreduce me a good and fast and bugless rom and radio version?
thanks a lot :roze

Hot after overnight charge (not wireless)

HI everyone, for the second day I noticed that after I left my N5 to charge overnight it was fairly hot after I took it off the charger. I have been leaving it to charge overnight for months and normally its not even warm since it trickle chargers after hitting 100%. My Nexus was charging right next to it and it was cool when I took that off the charger. It did fully charge and I checked if the phone was maybe not sleeping the entire night but that wasn't the case either. I checked with Current Widget and it was showing that even at 100% it was still taking around 200 mAh power. Usually it shows very minimal charge at 100%. Has this happened to anyone? I know I've read this happening with wireless chargers where it the phone wouldn't even charge, but in this case the phone was charged and it was just using the stock charger.
It also seems like I'm getting the Android OS bug after taking it off the charger. I suppose this might the cause of the entire thing. I'm just worried that it happened two days in a row.
The phone continues charging passed 100%. First it will still show 450mA eventually dropping to 200mA or so as you saw. Eventually true 100% is reached and the battery starts draining 0-10mA while the AC provides the rest.

Thanks, that's what should happen. But it seemed the past two nights it never dropped to 0-10 mah. Which is why I think it was hot in the morning. I just charged it from about 70% to 100% and it did trickle charge this time, so hopefully the issue is solved now. Has this happened to anyone though?

Galaxy S8+ Slow fast charging

Sup guys, just got my new Galaxy S8+ out of the box. I've noticed that my device charges a bit slower than usual. I'm using the stock fast charger that came out of the box and wireless charging IS TURNED ON but it takes me about 1 hour and 40 minutes or more to charge it from 0% to 100%. In comparison to my friends S7 edge which has a bigger battery, his phone charges about 20 minutes quicker than mines and his is practically brand new. I would still be charging at 50% and his S7 edge would be at 65% which is a big difference when it comes to most situations. Normally before I leave the house I charge my device and at this rate, this is pretty slow for me. Anyone know any possible fixes? I did the low battery dump method already but I might try to reset the phone if nothing else works. AGAIN I'm using the original charger that came out of the box.
My charging time from 0-100% is about 1 hour and 50 minutes for my S8+
My friends charging time from 0-100% is about 1 hour and 25 minutes for his S7 Edge
There has been some discussion about this elsewhere on the internet. It would seem that Samsung have limited the charging rates slightly on the s8, in addition to being conservative with the battery size and leaving empty space around it so that it can expand freely when hot. All measures completely understandable given what happened with the Note 7. It's slightly annoying that they went to these extremes but they could not take even the slightest risk of a disaster like that occurring again. It would have been the end of their smart phone division.

Time until full "charge" time incorrect?

This is not a complaint or a problem requiring fixing, but some curiosity. Does anyone else's phone lie about how long till full? Last night it said 10 minutes till full at 96%. I looked away for maybe 2 minutes and it was 100% charged. I thought maybe the battery could need to be drained and recalibrated but no, it drained normally. Took like 5-10 minutes of facebook scrolling to go down maybe 1%. Used it down to 35% today at work listening to spotify and playing games on my breaks. This was probably 96%-35% over almost 10 hours, so I don't think I have a battery problem, it just does not display eta of the charge correctly?
The reasoning behind all this is I'm trying to practice good Li-Ion health and not charge it fully. I usually get it to around 95% and unplug it. I don't charge it all night, and give it a boost on the way into work in the car. Im using the PD 2.0 fast charger it came with at home, but a older Samsung fast charger in the car from the S8 era.
Trust the shown percentage and not the time remaining ?

Samsung Original Wireless Fast Charger Duo Pad 2.0

I have bought long time ago new version of fast charger duo pad. I use this charger to charge my SM-G977B S10 5g. I used this charger almost from s10 5g was released. It was charging battery from flat in about 1:35 every time when I was using this charger. From about 2 months I have noticed that charging is slower and it takes 2 hours to charge battery from flat. Maybe it's nothing important but the difference is especially noticeable at the beginning of charge process if I have only 10 - 20 minutes to charge it's really noticeable. I thought that I happened after certain update and firstly ignored that because of I wish to have only this type problems in my life. Anyway recently I have seen that if I use both pads and during charging my s10 5g I remove second device from pad s10 will switch to faster charging and I am able to achieve 1:35 charging time the same like before otherwise it charges a little bit over 2 hours. Is it software bug or problem whit my charger? Charger is quite expensive so I prefer to don't buy second one just for testing purpose. Have you noticed slower wireless charging yours s10 after one of recent update? What's the normal charging time for s10 5g on this charger? Thanks
Hi, is the same for me, I use it for about one year and at the beginning one charge (from 20% I never go under that or rarely) take approx 1h40 and it take 2h10 now ....
It's not an a really big problem for day to day use but sometimes it's annoying when you have less time for charge your smartphone.
But I need to say after one year this charger stay in a good condition especially in term of temperature management.
Anyone ?
Hi, an a factory reset solve my problem ?.
Before : 0,5%/H full charge in 3h20
After : 0,8% /H full charge in 2h20 (like at the beginning)
After the reset when put my phone ? on the wireless charger an notification appear "you can program the time when you went to stop the fast charging option to avoid noise and light during the night ? "
I never seen it before, I think ? the problem is that.
My 'fast charge' charger is as slow as the 6 times cheaper one I have had for more than a year, this means that a full charge takes about 3 hours. I bought it because I got a smartwatch and I didn't want to have two chargers on my desk.
I wiped the cache partition but the situation is the same. I followed other tips but nothing helped.
I did not do a phone reset because it takes me a long time to return to the normal state of the phone with passwords and other things and settings.
It is very annoying that samsung does not mention such a situation, as well as the fact that the estimation of the charge is far from the actual charge ... stupid is the one who buys this charger !!!
