Does The OnePlus 7/OnePlus 7 PRO Have Emergency Download Mode Support (EDL) + Tools? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi All,
Does the OnePlus7/OnePlus 7 PRO have emergency download mode (EDL) and the necessary recovery flashback tools? I recall that the OnePlus 6 could be rebooted into EDL mode buy holding the Power and both volume up + volume down and could be reflashed using MsmDownloadTool in the event of a hard brick. This is a must have feature for me as I'm looking to switch to Custom ROM's once they are fully matured and suit my needs or once official support ends in 3 years.

It should

Just wait a few weeks, it will be posted

Can you confirm it has EDL for sure, since its a must have for me personally? And how do you boot into EDL mode, do you just press the power and volume up + down like on the OnePlus 6. I'm going to be buying the phone as soon as support has come out

Are we waiting on the developers to post MSMDownloadTool or for someone to crack it as I can't seem to find either the tools or drivers on Qualcomm's website? Sorry for the paranoia but the only way I'm going to be able to get the phone is by importing it , since it not going to be stocked in Australia; and 1.5K AUD import is something you don't want to screw up. I also just found out you need to quote someone for notifications to show up in their inbox.

I think the steps should be clear. It's always the same since OnePlus 3/T. There is only one little different thing.

Hi friend, what is that different thing you say? Some is the first time we have a OnePlus, so we do not know.
Another question I have is that my OnePlus 7 works fine, but I wanted to see if this program recognizes me my OnePlus in case I ever need it, how can I enter the necessary mode to be detected by this program?
I press volume up and volume down and then I connect the cable, at that moment the program makes me "connected" (see attached image, left side), but after a few seconds it appears that "disconnected" and the phone restarts and OSS starts .
When I connect it, the images "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM3) appear in the device manager.
I do not understand why my mobile when I connect it by pressing the volume buttons and without touching anything of the program it appears that connected and after a few seconds it disconnects itself and OOS restarts.
Regards, and thank you very much.

The different part is you need to press volume up and volume down. With the older phones there was only one button. Don't remember volume up or down.
Not sure why your phone disconnecting automatically.

Hi friend, could you try if the same thing happens to you?
Made the mistake of locking my bootloader directly and bricked the hell out of my standard 7. I kept getting "Your device is corrupt and it can't be trusted". No Recovery accessible, only bootloader.
Followed the steps here and everything is back to normal now!

Hello friend, could you help me to know why when I connect my device appears as connected and after 10 seconds it automatically restarts the OOS operating system? My phone works well, it's just a test to know if one day I have a brick to know that this program works in my case.
I would need (now that your device works, like mine) to start in a way that the program detects and looks "connected", then wait a moment and without pressing any button on the program or phone to see if it restarts alone. I am thinking that if the phone works well, the program when connected only starts the system automatically.
Read some messages above in case I have not explained myself well.
Could someone who has a good phone confirm this? Can the program attempt to automatically restart the device if the "Start" button of MsmDownloadTool is not pressed within 10 seconds?
Thanks greetings.

Yep, same here. Maybe it's because device isn't bricked. I'm not sure about that. Never tried MSMTool when my device wasn't bricked.

hello, thanks for trying it, then that happens, if it is not locked it restarts, or maybe the EDL mode restarts for security if you don't press Start on the Msm tool.
---------- Post added at 12:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:10 PM ----------
Indeed we have already resolved the doubt about why EDL mode is disconnected after 10 seconds. It is a security system, you have 10 seconds to press Start. here another partner who has tried it and that happened to him, until he hit start and flashed everything well.

I see that you sent a private message to me also and mentioned that you got into the Bootloader. That is not what you need.
First of all, you will need to install the qualcom drivers from here: https://www.androidjungles.com/qualcomm-hs-usb-qdloader-9008-driver-64-bit-windows/
Afterwards, you will need to hold both volume buttons, and after a few seconds connect your phone to the computer via cable (while still holding the volume buttons).
The phone will be detected as a Qualcom device and you cand start following the tutorial that was provided earlier.

Hello friend, I already managed to enter the EDL mode correctly, the doubt is that when I connected it after 10 seconds, the phone disconnected and relapsed. That's why I said that if I could test now that your phone works, it also automatically restarts without touching any Msm program button once connected in EDL mode.
Something with EDL mode in OP7 is currently wrong.
As the predecessors wrote, after connecting, it is interrupted after a few seconds and the phone reboots.
I also have OP3, OP6 in them after the EDL mode is switched on the connection is maintained all the time.

That's what @Thelargeportion wrote at OP7Pro thread:
"Yes, it did on mine. I've just used this tool to recover from root to stock.
Noted that if the program isn't started within 10 seconds, the phone rebooted automatically, I'm guessing as some sort of security lock. Restarted in EDL, connected to the MSMDownloadtool and executed the program as soon as it was connected and it flashed absolutely fine.
Note that after the phone is restarted after a successful flash, it takes about 1-2 minutes to boot again having stuck on the OnePlus boot logo."
Could be true. But nevermind... It works and that's important.
Yes, it is the most important thing that it flashes the system image.
However, it does not maintain a permanent session in EDL as
in previous OnePlus models, and that may be worrying.

Hello friend, yes, that happens to all of us, it is not an isolated case, but if once you enter EDL mode and connect the phone to the PC and it appears "connected", you press start and everything works. You must press start in 10 seconds since entering EDL mode, once you press start, it no longer restarts and blinks correctly.
This of the 10 seconds occurs in all OnePlus 7 series (normal and PRO).
Comment where I ask about 10 seconds and colleagues confirm that they used the tool: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79997414&postcount=54

how can I unbrick Realme 5?

Hello Everyone.
While I was using my phone (playing a game), it shut down, then rebooted but got stuck with the Realme logo.
The phone didn't respond even when pressing the power button. I left it until the battery ran out and then it shut down.
I tried to power it up again, but the phone froze at the Realme logo. So this time, I shut it down again, then I tried to enter fast mode/recovery mode using power button + voulme down/up. But the phone does not respond to any button combinations, and I can't reach fast mode/recovery mode. Weird isn't it? I dont know why this happens given that I was only playing a game!
Anyway, I searched the internet for many hours trying to figure out how to fix this. I read about EDL mode and followed all the instructions untill I managed to get the phone in EDL mode and it was recognized by the QPST/Qfil flashing tool. This weird tool requires a certain type of ROM with certain files, namely firehose programmer, rawprogram.xml and patch0.xml. None of these files are included in the stock ROM I downloaded from Realme.com.
How and where can I get these files? And if these files are unavailable for whatever reason, is there any other way to fix my phone?
I'd really appreciate any help.
Thank you in advance.

How can I do that without access to fast/recovery mode?
If you can access phone by means of ADB then you do it via ADB Sideload method.

As far as I know, ADB requires the phone to be in debugging mode. Can I activate debugging mode while the phone is turned off?
No.
Anyone please?
Something on your motherboard is probably fried, and you need to find a professional to fix it.
Sorry to tell you that.

Question Last effort for bricked phone LE2117

Hello,
I followed the steps for the T-Mobile unlock...unlocked the SIM and the bootloader with the unlock token from OnePlus. When I rebooted after running 'fastboot oem unlock', I did not have root yet, I was not able to backup my partitions. Apps like Maps would crash immediately.
Stupidly, I decided to move forward with installing the latest global open beta rom using https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/convert-t-mobile-oneplus-9-to-global-or-other-firmware.4277169/
Once i executed flash_all, I saw errors for being unable to write to partitions and most of the .img files failed to install.... due to me not having root. At this point I was stuck in fastboot mode. I was NOT in fastbootd, I did not run 'fastboot reboot fastboot'. I was in the bootloader instead.
Since I'm on linux i went ahead and downloaded the Tmo MSM tool on my windows box and went to bed.
Even more stupidly I did not plug in my phone, and it died overnight
I can get it to boot for a second or two holding down the power button + volume down. Neither ADB nor fastboot can see my device.
I'm pretty sure I hosed the phone, just checking with you guys to make sure.
I'd appreciate any help.....
Update: When I use the MSM tool, i see the qualcom driver being used. However I'm not sure how to get the phone to be seen, i've tried holding down the volume up/down + power button at the same time.
MSM tool can't see the COM....Is there another way to enter the LDS or whatever?
You need the correct drivers and will need to go to advanced reboot, troubleshooting, allow unsigned driver option to be able to install the driver.

I had similar issue and had to hold power and volume up to reconize the device. I thought it just wouldn't power on.
Yetry vol+ and Power for like 20sec.
Just an idea.
I'm in the same situation. Got my unlock token, ran it, and then....
EDIT: I just read something about using the OnePlus 9 Pro India MSM tool, and click "Lite Firehose"

we shall see....
Fixed using Tmo MSM. Switched Firehose on/off. Thanks everyone!

Question How to Boot into EDL mode

Hi everyone,
Just your typical 'so I bricked my OP9' post here. I have the LE2110, bricked it pretty bad, spent the day trying to find an msm tool that worked - none of the OP9 worked but a global OP9Pro bought it back to life - the catch is that the device is formatted as a One Plus 9 Pro even though it's listed as OP9 (LE2110) in sys info - a very fine mess.
Anyway - now that the phone is at least booting and the screen is working, i thought I could now msm back to OP9 using an MSN tool that did not work previously, the problem is that I cannot for the life of me get into edl mode. Ive tried a bunch of fastboot commands, enabled usb debugging, unlocked the bootloader for good measure and tried the volume keys + power + cable....Im running out of ideas.
Anyone know if there are any other avenues I could take? Would rooting it as a OP9 pro give me more options to get into EDL? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks guys
You can boot edl from adb. With device on and plugged into pc.. Adb reboot edl. There is 1. All 3 buttons with device plugged in. Vol +& vol - & power. Option 2 Or you can boot edl through TWRP. Option 3

Thanks a million, for some reason I though that command was limited to fastboot - too many hours spent going down rabbit holes . But this worked - back up and running, lots of lessons learned!

Question Hard Bricked device

I hard bricked my phone while attempting to convert my device to global. I have never seen a device this dead though, it won't attempt to boot, it gives no vibration when chargers are plugged in, holding the power and volume keys for extended times does absolutely nothing, the device acts like it is absolutely fried.
I tried leaving it on the charger for about an hour and still, there is no sign of life. This was a new (to me) refurbished device that I just got a few weeks ago. Is there anything I can do or try?
You should have all this in place prior to doing anything to device. Unsure if you can even boot edl mode for msm tool now. Probably so !! https://onepluscommunityserver.com/list/Unbrick_Tools/

For some reason I could never get into EDL mode after brick to Qualcomm error. I used the key command you mentioned after plugging in and nothing happened. I even held it for over a minute. Also the tool on OP site didn't work either. I had to send my device for repair under warranty with OnePlus and lost my unlocked bootloader and device was locked and OEM option greyed out again. After OTA A12 update the other day I could OEM unlock. Waiting for unlock code again
