Guide to get 60fps in pubg and settings - Realme 3 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello there,
Realme 3 pro is a powerful device. All you need to do to get 60fps in pubg, is just a little optimisation.
Steps to follow :
1. Go to game space and select balanced profile. (Performance is battery hungry)
2. Download pubg gfx tool xda version. Link : MOD EDIT: Link Removed
Working and tested on my realme 3 pro.
3. Install the apk and open it.
4. Select global profile.
5. Disable shadows. Enable anti analysing. Select game profile as smooth with 60fps. Enable save sensitive controls.
6. Apply and run the game.
7. Profit!

What's with the link? It's not your work, so lets not monetize it

If this is a xda-made app, why provide an outside link? Why not the xda link? Are you monetising clicks sent via an outside link? Please correct, or else this goes to the forum admins.

Game space show permission denied.how to solve this problem.
I tried to clear app data. But its still not working
Game space only work through system settings.
Solved after new update.

Thanks man! I've tested these exact same settings and my game is much much better now, no lag whatsoever in my realme 3 pro.
Before these custom settings, my framerates were not satisfying at all, as I came from Oneplus 5t.
But now its almost the same!
Thanks a bunch mann :good:

[q] shadow gun on lg optimus 3d?!

Hi Everyone,
Is it possible to play Shadow gun on Lg p920?! Market says my device is incompatible because its not Tegra-based. But I hear there is a way to play tegra games on LG optimus 3d. Can anyone tell me if they have successfully installed this game on this phone? if yes, how? Many thanks in advance!
peace.
Yes it's possible i test it with chainfire 3d and nvidea plugin the game works.
Er.... Could you tell me how you did that? or at least a guide in this forum where the root procedure is given?
First install Chainfire 3d.
Then download invidea plugin
Install this plugin with chainfire 3d
In Chainfire 3d go to Default OpenGL settings.
Choose Use Plugin NVIDIA. Go back and choose Reduce texture quality, reduce texture size. Then restart the Phone and install the game and download sd files.
I've posted nvidia plugin in my post.
Sorry for bad english i am from Russia
PS: You need root
Tkx for the guide!

install chainfire. then install driver (you get a warning that your phone may brick but no worries). then phone restarts. then you open chainfire again. then you install nvidia plugin. then you go to default settings and choose nvidia plugin. then you tick only reduce texture size. NOT quality. then you tick disable map buffer emu. then you exit chainfire but not reboot. install shadowgun. download data. it crashes several times (i think at leat 3) during data download at which point you restart it to continue. then when all is done game tries to open itself but crashes. then you get another crash (possibly) after intro movie. then next time game plays ok...
all of the above if you have tegra version. if you have cracked no tegra version you still need chainfire but no plugin. and you only need reduce texture size in default settings no disable map buffer emu. hope i helped...
caution. loading takes a lot of time for tegra version with nvidia plugin. much better for no tegra version though...

ohhh a genius... we do know there is a thread for that. just that some games require special configs to play on chainfire and shadowgun is one of them by needing the disable map buffering option. he asked if anyone got it to run so we answered.

runs like a charm... you won't even know the difference between reduced size and normal size textures....
install "free automanager memory". get it free from market. Set to fast mode to gain more ram. Setup chainfire as above. Then restart phone. Try run the game, it run perfect.
i have bought it and tried several different versions with diff sd card caches all of them still try to download and fail on the third one... really really upset about this.. if someone can send me their working titanium backup for a fully working version... i have paid for it and madfinger just told me to wait for a port...
Mine is Shadowgun version 102 + Custom ROM ThiaiO3D 1.5.2. Install and download the data using WiFi. It work for me.

no official versions out yet man. If you want to run it find it in sites like mobilephonetalk. version 1.2 runs great the one called no-tegra. The normal one not the reduced textures one. And yes during download you can expect a couple ofapp crashes but eventually it will go all the way. Still need to reduce texture size through chainfire though, just no plugin.
Official version ready https://market.android.com/details?id=com.madfingergames.shadowgun
working fine at 600 mhz

[share] REAL RACING 3 graphics change

There's a method to change the graphics quality in REAL RACING 3 which needs you to change the files in the data folder of real racing depending on your current graphics config... but for that you need to identify what are the current configs...
But in this method you will just need to know which settings you want..... the configs are
AndroidLow.plist (blurry textures, no real-time reflections only shadows from bridges, car has blob shadow)
AndroidMid.plist (normal textures, no real-time reflections only shadows from bridges, car has real-time shadow)
AndroidHigh.plist (normal textures, real-time reflections of environment and bridges, car has real-time shadow)
AndroidXtraHigh.plist (no difference to AndroidHigh.plist)
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Just decide the config you require based on the above description....
The default path to the configs is "/sdcard/Android/data/com.ea..games.r3_row/.depot/eds/" if you dont see .depot dir then check your settings for show hidden folder......
1) Make backup of all the files...
2) now if you want Highest config i.e. AndroidXtraHigh for you then
3) delete all the files from the default directory (of course after making back up)
4) then from the backup, copy the AndroidXtraHigh.plist to the default directory and rename it to AndroidLow.plist
5) then again from the backup, copy the AndroidXtraHigh.plist to the default directory and rename it to AndroidMid.plist
6) then again from the backup, copy the AndroidXtraHigh.plist to the default directory and rename it to AndroidHigh.plist
7) then again from the backup, copy the AndroidXtraHigh.plist to the default directory and do not rename it....
Same way you can do with other configs also..... :good:
so what we will have in the default directory is the same XtraHigh config files but with different names.... So whichever file the game loads by default we will get the XtraHigh config......
Go and Enjoy RR3... :good:
Worked great for me......

anyone with a Nexus S able to run this game on High? The highest I can go is Medium sadly
Tries this little "mod" on my Galaxy Note 8.0 and it bumped the gfx up quite a bit with renaming XtraHigh to all the other names.
I thought that the Note 8.0 with its quite impressive hardware would use High already but it seems it didnt

I bumped up the gfx one step on the Galaxy Note 8.0 with this little "mod", thanks alot for this
I'm Using An AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 "i747" & The game just will not run in Any higher quality in that RR3 Graphic's app, So i figured i'd ask here & try to do this manually, Why does my GS2 "i727" Skyrocket, Run this game better than the GS3 "i747"?
On My Skyrocket, the graphic's run in high with mirror reflection's, but on my GS3 I cannot for the life of me get the game Running With High Or Even Medium 2 Graphic's Setting's!
& I Know it can handle it, it work's but then it crashes when i go to repair a car, or even view a car. than sometime's it load's, so i'm not sure what's causing the crashing, but it crashes a lot on the GS3. What's the best way for me to get Reflection in the Mirror's But keep the Other Graphic Level's down a bit? is there a way to fine tune which graphic area's are high & low in the Plist File's?
I Really want to get back to progressing in RR3, As i'v gotten pretty far already, just got the Mclaren MP4-12C, It was a Gold Only Car & 20% Off so i figured id just get it. Is there anyway to Unlock ALL? Like an Offline sort of cheat? which i still want to use my save file to progress & really play the game through, but i'd really like to test drive a few of those race car's i won't get anytime soon. The Veneno Cost's 900 Gold & It's A Gold Only Car. R$ Can't buy the car, So it cost's 100$ to add 1,000 Gold, & This car cost's 900 Gold, Yikes... It's Basically A 100$ Car, they definitely should of thought over those prices for those new car's, it's really hard for a new player to get into this game, especially when i started playing on the GS2 Skyrocket With High Graphic's & No Crashing, Now i got a GS3 & the game doesn't even run in Medium?
Something's very oddly wrong with this GS3. Also Google Play Store, I'v Bought Asphalt 8, & Now Google Play keep's saying Update Game, & When i go to Update The Game, It Say's It's Unsupported? Yet i bought that exact game ON this GS3! & It worked before, now i can't even load the game cause it just say's update, & i can't get the update, cause it's unsupported now? I want to Root My GS3, But i'm being very careful with it, I Rooted My GS2 Skyrocket "Android 4.4.1", Which maybe why it run's in full high graphic's. & the GS3 is "Stock" "Android 4.3."
I Just don't understand why i can't get this one game running on the GS3? Anybody have any idea's? or is there any other RR3 Graphic App's that are good i can test out? I Have to deal with my GS3 for Awhile till i can upgrade, which will be awhile. so it seem's right now at this point i can play maybe 1 race, & then Crash & Force Close. & Sometime's the Crash Is BAD! I'll Finish 4 Lap's To Find Out It Didn't Save. I Just can't take the crashing anymore, but still want to keep playing this game as it's grown on me as something i do a few races a day. but now i really can't sense i switched to a GS3.
I Can Probably record a video Of RR3 Running In High Graphic's, But The GS3 Cannot Handle High Graphic's?
It Act's like it want's to but just crashes & i have no clue where to begin to get it to stop crashing like that. i cleared the Plist & re-installed, It was working on Medium High for 1 day till i restarted my phone, & i had Mirror Reflection's, & they just disappeared & now there smudgy/blurry again. so I'm 100% the game can run in High. But it just won't, Maybe Rooting it will fix the issue? i still never touched it after stock cause of all the new security app's like KNOX, & all those other background program's that make it harder to root the phone. so i'm taking it slow with rooting it.
Dude u r awesome!!!!
hello guys, this no longer works right?
Hi, many people know that directly change those plist files or using rr3 gfx no more work, since rr3 rewrite those plist file every time we launch rr3. But I found a thread.

You need any filecommander and copy the apk to any folder. Open the .apk with MT manager and make step 4-6. In MT manager you can sign apk. Then make steps 10-13.
doesnt work atm, any another solution?
The directory structure changed, it's now $GAMEDIR/files/apk/res/eds
The directory rebuilds itself upon launching
in 2020 we cant change files, if we alter files then when we start the game, it will download all the files that we altered. how to prevent this?

[PORT] Quake 1 on FTEDroid (w/ gkp profiles for newer & older GameKeyboard apps)

--THREAD REQUESTED TO BE CLOSED 6/23/17 DUE TO BEING UNABLE TO MAINTAIN THREAD OR PROVIDE SUPPORT TO QUESTIONS --
Hi All,
I've created this thread to share information on an Android port of the FTE QuakeWorld client called FTEDroid. (Scroll down for download links, installation, and setup instructions). The app is free to download and use and it allows you to to play Quake 1 in Singleplayer/Multiplayer modes. If you use Gamekeyboard+, you can play using the Xperia Play's slide out game controls rather than using the touchscreen. (Also... it may be able to run other versions of Quake, but I haven't got around to trying yet).
Along with the FTEDroid info, I'm sharing 2 Gamekeyboard gkp profiles that I mapped out. The first one is for the newer "Gamekeyboard +" app v. 6.0.0, that is currently available through the Google Play Store. The 2nd gkp is for the older Gamekeyboard app v 4.0.1 that I thought some of you may still have on your phones. (See the Gamekeyboard setup instructions below for the download links).
FTE developer "Spike", (who developed FTEDroid), has done an awesome job with this port. He and the FTE team all deserve a HUGE thanks for their hard work. I've tried several other ports for Quake 1 and this is the smoothest and best performing one that I've tried so far. I'm really hoping that some other Xperia Play owners will give this a shot and provide suggestions and feedback. I also think it would be a blast to try to set up some Multiplayer Quake sessions with anyone interested, so please try this out and give some feedback.
(Below are some actual screen shots of Quake 1 running on FTEDroid, taken from my Xperia Play).

DISCLAIMER:
None of these steps or suggestions should harm your phone. However, if you choose to follow the steps in this thread and install any of the linked files, then you are choosing to take full responsibility for any bad things that could happen to your phone. Please don't proceed with the below steps if you don't agree with this and are not comfortable with using root apps that modify your phone. (Gamekeyboard needs root to work with this gkp, but you can use FTEDroid with touchscreen if you're not rooted).
(IMPORTANT) You should own a copy of the Quake 1 game to run it on FTEDroid, as you need the PAK0 and PAK1 game data files for the game to work. I'm not able to supply the PAK files to you, as they are copyrighted by id Software. If you don't own the game, you can do an Internet search and buy the original Quake 1 from Steam as a direct download (it's currently about 10 USD). You can also obtain the PAK files by purchasing an original Quake 1 installation CD off of eBay, and then copying the PAK files from the CD over to your SD card. I've seen just the original Quake on eBay for as cheap as $5, but I purchased a Windows version of “Ultimate Quake” off of eBay for $25 USD (and it includes Quake 1, 2, and 3). I was able to insert the CD into my laptop, open “My Computer”, right click on the CD/DVD location, and then explore the CD's contents without needing to install the game to my computer. I located the PAK files by going into the Setup folder, then going into the ID1 folder.
-------------------------------------------------
STEP A.
Instructions to set up FTEDroid – adapted from this website: http://wiki.quakeworld.nu/FTEDroid
1. Download and install the FTEDroid apk onto your phone. (You must enable installation of “Unknown Sources” in your phone's settings to be able to install the apk). You can grab the FTEDroid apk from a download link at the above referenced wiki website: ( http://wiki.quakeworld.nu/FTEDroid )
2. Connect your Xperia Play to your computer with a USB cable. On the root of your SD card, create a file folder named fte. Then within the fte folder, create another folder named id1. (Make sure to use lower case letters, as this is important).
3. Copy the files “PAK0.PAK” and “PAK1.PAK” into the id1 folder that you created on your SD card.
4. After doing these steps, you should be able to open the FTEDroid app and run Quake on your Xperia Play. When it first starts up, choose whichever Graphic Preset you want. I've been using “Normal (Faithful)” and it works good for me.
-------------------------------------------------
STEP B.
Detailed Setup Instructions for GameKeyboard+ (version 6.0) for Quake1 using FTEDroid and the linked gkp profile: (use the alternate gkp down below if you have an older GameKeyboard app).
**If you don't own Gamekeyboard +, you can purchase it from Google Play at this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.locnet.gamekeyboard2&hl=en
1. Download the gkp profile from this link and save it on your SD card: LINK REMOVED - as I am no longer able to provide support to this thread.
2. If this is the first time you are opening the GameKeyboard + app, then click "Not Now" when it prompts you to "skip soft keyboard and choose stand alone mode."
3. Now follow steps 1 and 2 on the GameKeyboard main setup screen to enable it as the active Input Method
4. For “Input Device”, set it to “Keyboard/Digital Gamepad”
5. For “Usage Mode,” enable the “Show Qwerty” setting, (you'll want the Qwerty keyboard to pop up later when playing the game so you can type in the Game Console). (**Also make sure that “Emulate Keyboard” is chosen).
6. Now go to "Settings" and enable "Use Advance Input". (This will likely prompt Superuser to ask you to grant permission if this is first time running GameKeyboard).
7. Scroll up a little and enable "Alternate Key Detect"
8. Now go to "Import Profile" and import the Quake1-FTEDroid3.gkp. Then go to "Save Profile" to save it, and finally go to "Load Profile" to load it - (you should be able to just load it in the future after you do these steps the first time).
9. Now scroll down and uncheck the box for "Use Hot Key" to disable it.
10. Then scroll all the way to bottom and go into "Internal Options. Make sure the boxes are checked for "8-way D-Pad," "Show Start and Select," "Show Analog Stick," "Remap Hardkey," "Show Keyboard First," and "Use Analog. "
11. *This step is important-- Go to "Custom and Test" in the main GameKeyboard setup screen... this will pop up the game controls. Then touch quickly in the very center of the virtual onscreen "Dpad." Now go to "Rotation" and select Left rotation. (Now use the back button to back out of the GameKeyboard app and go on to Step C).
-------------------------------------------------
STEP B - ALTERNATE DOWNLOAD/ SETUP INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE OLDER GAMEKEYBOARD v.4.0.1
(The left touchpad does work with this gkp, but I gave up (for now) on trying to get the right one to work. All of the other controls are mapped the same as the gkp for the newer Gamekeyboard app above).
1. Download the gkp profile from this link and save it on your SD card: LINK REMOVED - as I am no longer able to provide support to this thread
2. Now follow steps 1 and 2 on the GameKeyboard main setup screen to enable it as the active Input Method
3. Now go into settings and in "Quick Setup", choose "Xperia Play->Touchscreen"
4. In settings, scroll down to "Import Profile" and import the file "Quake1-FTEDroid-v401b.gkp" from where you saved it on your SD card. Then go to "Save Profile" to save it, and finally go to "Load Profile" to load it - (you should be able to just load it in the future after you do these steps the first time).
5. Now, scroll through these different settings to make sure they are all enabled:
__8 way D-pad
__Show Start & Select
__Show Analog Stick
__Remap Hardkey
__Go into Customize Layout and make sure that "Enable Custom Layout" is enabled
__Show Warning
__Use Advance Input
__Use Analog
6. Make sure to disable "Touch Screen Mode" by removing the check box next to it. Now use the back button to back out of the GameKeyboard app.
-------------------------------------------------
STEP C.
Last Step is to make a couple small changes within the Quake 1 game's configuration settings.
Boot up into the Quake 1 Main Game Menu, then scroll down to “Options,” and select it by pressing the X hard key. Now select "Customize Controls" and scroll down to "Attack." Now press the X hard key and it should say “Press Key” to let you change the binding setting for “Attack.” Press the X key again to map "Attack" to the actual X hard key on the phone.
**I would also advise going into the game's Video Options and increasing the Contrast. This makes the game look much better on our phones. Just Apply Settings afterwards and it should stick after you back out to the main menu again. Now just use the back button to go back to the main menu.
~~~~ THAT'S IT! You should now be able to play Quake 1 on your Xperia Play with the hard key game controls ~~~~
-------------------------------------------------
Here's how the Xperia Play Hard Keys are mapped:
“Directional Buttons”-- Up and Down are mapped to walk forward and backward, Left and right turn the character left and right.
“Left touchpad” will move the character forwards, backwards, left, and right. (should work on both gkp's)
“Right touchpad” pans the character's view around in the game -- this does NOT work with the gkp for the older GameKeyboard app v. 4.0.1. (I'm having a hard time with the touchpad controls being too sensitive and difficult for me to control. But, I mapped them out just in case others want to use them or want to try to improve on them).
“Triangle” key is mapped to "Jump/Swim Up"
“X” key is "Attack"
“Square” key is mapped to "Look Up"
“Circle” key is mapped to "Look Down"
“Select” key is mapped to "swim down"
“Start” key is mapped to switch weapon
“Left (L back shoulder)” key is mapped to Step Left
“Right (R back shoulder )” key is mapped to Step Right
“Volume up” key shows info on progress/stats within the game
“Volume down” key should toggle between the Gamekeyboard controls and the Qwerty Keyboard
“Menu” key pulls down the Game Console (it should also pull down the Qwerty Keyboard to let you type in the console if you set it to show Qwerty in the Gamekeyboard+ settings)
“Back” button brings you back to the Main Game Menu where you can load/save the game, change options, etc...
-------------------------------------------------
That's great! Please give some feedback after you try it out and share what you think about it. I'd also appreciate it if you could let me know if you like the way the Gamekeyboard profile is set up. I'm still pretty new to gaming on the Xperia Play and I mapped out the gpk to what seemed most comfortable for me. If there's a better way to get the controls set up for the Xperia Play, I'm open to changing things around.
Also, I'm going to try to upload an additional gkp that would work with the older Gamekeyboard v 4.0.1. I know that some people still have the older Gamekeyboard apps and would probably like to use that rather than the newer version.
As far as the mods question.... I'm not sure about other mods, but I don't think FTEDroid will run Laser Arena. I checked out your link and tried to run the game with FTEDroid tonight. It gave an error that said "Server is using protocol version 18, which is not supported by this version of FTE Quakeworld. (see the below screenshot from my phone). Maybe there's some other Android port out there that would run Laser Arena... it looks like a fun game .
I've never used Gameboard before. I see the Play site says it works on Xperia Play for Gingerbread. I'm running SlimBean, which I think runs Jellybean. Any idea if it'll still work?
I'll look into that server version thing. Maybe it can be patched to become compatible in some way.
That would be cool if you could figure out a way to patch things so it would work. :thumbup:
You probably did the same thing, but I searched the SlimBean thread, LuPus V3, and Turbo JB kernel threads... and didn't see any mention of GameKeyboard. I went ahead and posted a question on the SlimBean thread to see if anyone knows if it's compatible with that ROM and kernels. I'm currently running rooted stock 2.3.4 Gingerbread with stock kernel, and it works great with that. If no one responds and if I can get the time, I may try to install SlimBean and test it out.
Hi pWEN,
I found this post where someone said that the "Gamepad" partially works with SlimBean (see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40996551#post40996551. They said the touchpads don't work, but it sounds like the hard keys probably do. (I think they were referring to the GameKeyboard app when they said Gamepad) .
When I play Quake1 on my Xperia Play with this port...I honestly find the touchpads too difficult to use due to lack of ability to precisely control player's movements... so I prefer using the hard keys anyway.
(EDIT: I tested out the Gamekeyboard app on SlimBean ROM with Lupus kernel v.13 and also with Turbo v3.1. Both the gamepad/ hard keys and the touchpads worked with the ROM & either kernel.
I found this post where someone said that the "Gamepad" partially works with SlimBean (see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40996551#post40996551. They said the touchpads don't work, but it sounds like the hard keys probably do. (I think they were referring to the GameKeyboard app when they said Gamepad) .
When I play Quake1 on my Xperia Play with this port...I honestly find the touchpads too difficult to use due to lack of ability to precisely control player's movements... so I prefer using the hard keys anyway.
Ah, okay. I really love the touchpads so I'd be a bit disappointed if I couldn't use them, but it's not a deal-breaker. Can you link me to your thread so I can subscribe to it? I'll get Gamekeyboard on and try it out.
I dunno what ROM you're currently running, but SlimBean is pretty cool. It's got launcher and ROM customization built in, including theme support. Really speeds up the phone, too. Only issue seems to be that it requires an SD card to install some OS files to, which is irritating since the OS itself is only like 26 mb. I used the Lupus kernel, which is really nice, as it has TWRP custom recovery built into it. If you need any files, just let me know, took some detective work for me to find them all, but I've got them. I used this install guide, which was way more helpful than the one in the SlimBean thread.
SlimBean does look cool and I'll probably try it out soon. Thanks for the install guide link. I'm just currently running stock rooted 2.3.4. (Edit: I used Titanium Backup Pro to debloat the stock ROM... so it's not just straight stock now).
The touchpads are cool, but I'm hoping you'll like Quake with just the regular controls. If GameKeyboard doesn't work, you should be able to get a refund if you go back into the Play Store within 2 hours of buying it... (I just read on the news where Google increased the refund time window).
(Confirmed the the touchpads do work with Gamekeyboard using Lupus v13 or Turbo v3.1 with SlimBean ROM).
I'm not sure if this is exactly what you want, but the web link for this thread is:
LOL... It didn't make sense to me that you would need the link to this Quake thread that I created... but I just wasn't sure what you meant. Sorry about that.
I asked about Gamekeyboard in the SlimBean thread: here.
pWEN,
I went ahead and flashed SlimBean and LuPuS JellyBean v13 Kernel 720p version ... (I also tried Turbo Kernel v3.1 ).
I can confirm that the phone's hard keys and the touchpads BOTH WORK using GameKeyboard with SlimBean and either one of these kernels. I also tested out the Multiplayer mode while running SlimBean and was able to connect into it (I attached a few screenshots below).
As far as the Quake game performance with SlimBean, I found that the game didn't run as smooth as it does on stock 2.3.4 GB. On Quake, the Turbo Kernel seemed to perform pretty good overall without needing to overclock... but with Lupus on Quake, it was really laggy and I had to overclock up to 1209 MHz to get it to stop lagging. (Using both kernels... I also tried to play one of my current favorite games (Aralon Sword & Shadow). With the Lupus kernel, Aralon really struggled and froze on me anytime I would toggle the Gamekeyboard controls while playing the game...even with the overclocking up to 1401 MHz. Aralon seemed to run smoother with Turbo kernel, but the game froze on me after playing it for a while. (Aralon runs smooth with very few hiccups running stock 2.3.4 GB/ stock kernel).
I'm pretty new to the Xperia Play and I'm not a developer (just an android enthusiast ). I'm not 100% sure what the best set up is for gaming on this device. I've read some thread posts, (example here: from darkharbinger81), where others report that with this device, Gingerbread seems to work better than JellyBean for gaming. So for now, I'll probably just stick with debloated 2.3.4 GB.
(Edit: I've played with SlimBean some more this evening and I'm really impressed with the ROM itself. It's put together really well and has lots of great features. I found the "Performance" settings where you can overclock and change Governors/Schedulers without even needing an app like SetCPU. If I wasn't using my Xperia Play soley for gaming, then I would seriously consider sticking with the SlimBean ROM).
What settings did you change to overclock in SlimBean? I've never messed around with that before, but I think it might be a good idea (especially since Minecraft runs more laggy on SB than it does on stock).
Pretty cool that online multiplayer works. Have you tried adding bots? Is such a thing possible here?
I seem to remember someone ported Quake 3 Arena to Android. Ever tried that?
You can access the overclock/governor/scheduler settings in SlimBean by going to phone's main settings menu, then "Performance," then they should be somewhere in there. :fingers-crossed: (I flashed back to stock GB last night and don't remember exactly where everything was). You probably know this, but If you decide to overclock, just be really cautious as it can damage your phone if you aren't careful. Here's a link to an overclocking discussion for our phone that gives some tips.
From what I can tell, Quake1 on FTEDroid doesn't have bots and I'm not sure if they can be added. I see in your profile that you have a background in game development and if you want to get some technical details on FTEDroid, I think that Spike (the FTEDroid developer) and the other FTE dev. team would be willing to chat with you on their FTE IRC channel. I chatted with him and a couple others on there briefly and they were nice and seemed open to discussion.
I think the Quake3 port you're talking about is Zeus Arena. It looks like it was pulled off of Google Play a while back due to development issues/terms of use issue... (I'm not sure what that means). My friend has it on his Xperia Play and I've played both Quake2 and Quake3 on it in Singleplayer mode. The game runs and looks great, but I had trouble using the controls well enough to effectively control the player. (Maybe I just need some more practice).
Yes, I'll definitely have to look for Zeus Arena!
Thanks for the link to the overclocking thread. I'll have to take a look later. I tried running FTE with Quake 1 as-is, and it's a bit laggy (and I'll definitely need that Gamekeyboard app). I've been trying to get on top of this Quake stuff, but all of my free time has been absorbed by work lately. So I'm trying to get as much information on it as I can, while I can.
I looked into bots, but so far haven't found a tutorial on setting them up with FTE (Android or no). A lot of this Quake stuff is as old as the game itself, but I feel my Google-fu is strong, so I'm sure I'll dig it up eventually. Omicron bots seem to be the best choice going by the forum debates.
Another question for you: You only mention Quake 1 on here, but shouldn't the mission packs work as well? I copied the pak0.pak files from the hipnotic and rogue folders to sister locations at the same level as the id1 folder, just as it shows up in my install directory (I got all of the Quake games through Steam). Not sure how to tell if they work or how I'd access them, though! And have you tried Quake 2 and its mission packs with this yet?
I plan to test out Quake 2 on FTEDroid soon. It'll be great if it works.
I don't own mission packs for any of the Quake versions, so I can't test things out, but I'm wondering if you could just use a file explorer and temporarily cut the Quake 1 pak files out of sdcard/fte/id1 and place them in a different folder... then copy the mission pak files into sdcard/fte/id1. It would be a bit of a pain to move things around like that... but I wonder if it would let you run the mission packs. That's how I got Laser Arena to boot (though it didn't run because of the server issue).
Ah okay, cool. I started a thread over on QuakeOne with a bunch of questions for them about this. Here's the link!
Also, I set up overclocking on my phone. Didn't make Minecraft less laggy (SlimBean issue, I guess) until I turned off fancy graphics, but what can you do. lol
Too bad that the overclocking didn't help much. Maybe there's some other tweaks you can do to improve performance with SlimBean...maybe try out Turbo Kernel, as (IMO) it seemed to perform with less lagging when I tried it. And thanks man for starting that thread on Quake One Forums. I just don't possess the knowledge to even know what to ask Spike and the others.
I used the info from the QuakeOne discussion and loaded Quake2 and Quake 3 into FTEDroid. They both started up and I was able to connect with some limited servers... but more testing and playing around with it is needed to see if the games would be playable on our phones. Also, the GameKeyboard profile that I mapped out for Quake1 didn't work with the games that did connect... so we'd have to play around with Gamekeyboard and the config files to see if the controls could be remapped for each game. I took some screenshots of all of the different games that FTE says it can run (see content below). I don't think all of them work on the Xperia Play, but I'm blown away by the list of games.
Even if none of the other games work well for our phones... hopefully other Xperia Play owners can still have fun playing Quake1 in Singleplayer mode with FTEDroid. :good: I need to get into bed so I can get up for work tomorrow... but thanks again for your time with this considering your busy work schedule.
Hello. I have not tried to play Quake on the Xperia Play in over 1 1/2 years, but these instructions worked for me when I last tried them.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to help with troubleshooting as I'm no longer using this device.
(Guide) Dolphin Emulator and the best settings for each game for the P20-Pro
I've made one of these tutorials for the HTC 10 and Oneplus 5 and both went down well, have struggled to match the power of the 835 and it's Adreno GPU on the P20 Pro, the Kirin is fast but the Mali has been this phones achilles heel , it isn't awful but it simply does not have the most optimized drivers and no one will ever get the most out of it.
Until now...
A chap over on the Dolphin-emu forums called Zhang Wei has went and done some amazing wizardry specifically for Kirin based devices.
Moving onto the emulator itself, it's brilliant compared to the original, the results which I've seen for myself are nothing short of spectacular, not every game is perfect (but then no emulator is perfect)
All the games I tried ran at a solid 60fps without anomalies and without any crashes, below i'll post specifically how to replicate this on your devices and any files you'll need, it's not hard but one thing i have found that i needed was GPU Boost, anyone who has EMUI 8.1 past 130 will already have this, if you like me are running a non EMUI ROM then you can install the Magisk module for the same effect.
Although I believe that this version of Dolphin is made for Honor / Huawei devices, some Samsung devices run Mali so should see the same benefits, albeit without GPU turbo.
Hope you enjoy, any questions, plz let me know
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pre-requisites
Root Access - if you wish to use advanced kernel features or if you haven't already got GPU Boost / turbo as part of your ROM / stock ROM.
Android with a Mali based GPU, this specific version is for Mali / Kirin
A legitimate ROM file of the game you want to play
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Files
1. The emulator - https://github.com/weihuoya/dolphin/releases (This is the main GitHub page for Wei Zhang's builds)
2. A GameCube ISO / ROM file - unfortunately I cannot provide links for these as it would infringe on XDA rules and by not owning the original you cannot have a copy, I will leave this to your googling abilities, please DO NOT link to any ROM sites here they will be removed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installation
NOTE**** For the purposes of this tutorial i will assume that you have never installed Dolphin on your phone, should you need a clean install you'll need to remove everything first
1. Grab the emulator and copy it to your phone, if it's already there then open it with a file manager, click install
2. Open Magisk, click downloads, search or find GPU Boost, click install and reboot.
3. (optional but recommended) Open Magisk, click downloads, search or find Swap Torpedo, click install and reboot.
4. Open settings and stop the android system from optimizing the Dolphin app, this will help with performance.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Setup
Below are the settings for each section, I've found can max out most games
Zelda - The Windwaker, MarioKart, Smash Bros, Mario Strikers, Tiger Woods 06, Burn out 2, Ikaruga.
Resident Evil 4 is a different animal altogether but the settings here should be enough to make it totally playable.
My personal favourite is the WindWaker which is just a superb game, this has been causing me some problems using Vulkan, so Open GL is preferred, I'm trying to find the perfect settings for it still, will update here once i have.
1. Open the app up and click the settings bar up the top (3 dots) you'll be given a list of options, below is each section and their respective choices, there is a floppy disc icon at the top of each section, everytime you make a change click the disc to save.
2. General:
CPU Core - JIT ARM64
Dual core - on
Override emulated CPU Clock Speed - off
Emulated clock speed - unchanged
Speed limit - 100%
Sync on skip idle - on
JIT Follow branch - on
Enable cheats - off (only noobs cheat )
Change discs - on
Audio stretching - on
Audio back end - Cubeb
3. Graphics settings:
Video Backend - Vulkan
Show FPS - on (unless you're happy with performance and don't want to test or tweak for more performance)
Shader compilation mode - Synchronous
Compile shaders before starting - off
Back end multithreading - on
Aspect ratio - Force 16:9 (for me this is the best ratio for the p20 pro, it's up to you here)
Display scale - 100%
4. Enhancements:
Internal resolution - depending on the game I toggle between 1x and 2x
Full screen anti aliasing - off
Anisotropic Filtering - off
Post processing effect - off
Scaled EFB Copy - on
Per-Pixel lighting - on
Force Texture filtering - on
Force 24 bit colour - on
Disable fog - off
Disable copy filter - on
Arbitrary mipmap detection - on
Widescreen hack - personal choice ( prefer this to be on, more screen to see although a little zoomed out)
5. Hacks:
Skip EFB Access from CPU - on
Ignore format changes - on
Store EFB copies to Texture only - on
Defer EFB Copies to RAM - on
Texture cache accuracy - Low
GPU Texture decoding - off
Store XFB copies to texture only - on
Immediately present XFB - on
Fast calculation depth - on
Framebuffer format - RGBA8
6. Interface:
Use Panic handlers - off (personal choice, i don't need it, shows errors when they happen)
Show on screen display messages - off (again personal choice)
Use Built-in Database of game names - on
7. Gamecube / Wii and Debug:
Leave all of them at stock, none need to be altered.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And Finally
Thats pretty much it chaps, get yourself a ROM which you own (we have to say that) and load it up, I personally have a folder called ROM's which i've pointed to within the app.
All games can be played with touchscreen but I would definitely recommend a bluetooth pad, the one i use is the iPega extendible, which has proven to be brilliant, the below link is not the cheapest I've found it for, mine cost £16 so shop around.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wireless-C...d=1550867350&sr=8-6&keywords=ipega+extendable
The touchscreen controls can be turned off "Whilst" you are within a game, just swipe down and then click options, you can toggle the controls from there, move them around, make them different sizes etc.
You do have the option to make some changes from this same menu but I would advise against this as it can get confusing.
One thing i would say to do if you have a few people around is to get a USB-C - HDMI converter and get a few pads, you can use up to 4 on this emulator.
This is my hub
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-Prem...=1550868584&sr=8-13&keywords=anker+hdmi+usb+c
A bit pricey but a great unit.
The install path on android is /sdcard/dolphi-mmj/
The GC folder holds your save games so make a back up if you need to complete a full uninstall if you are testing or changing versions.
Screenshots in 2nd post, taken from my phone, note at the top left, a solid 60fps, it does drop to mid 50's now and again, but then again so did the Gamecube, I would say that there is headroom for up-scaling for textures and or resolution.
Enjoy, hopefully this tutorial helped you and you're enjoying games on your P20 Pro the way games should be played, if you liked this tut then please hit thanks..
Cheers, any questions let me know and I'll do what I can to help.
:good:
Screenshots
Will upload more and maybe do a video once i've got the windwaker working as it should.
You shouldn't have to. But you may have to disable "optimise this app"
Performance mode should not be needed.
Not sure pal, haven't had it installed for some time now...been flashing and testing ROMs so not ideal..
Majority of games work relatively well, compared to Snapdragon devices it's not as good but the version here is decent for mali chips.
i see, well legend of zelda wind waker run half speed in first stage where env is large, beach spiker ,beyond good and evil also run stuttering with half speed. Altough i can push with performance mode and get full speed, the heat is awful and killing battery, fyi i was using mate 20 pro with kirin 980
Depends which version you're using mate. The 710 won't have the grunt I don't think.
If you use the version I posted here on Huawei devices then it'll benefit from it..
Snap dragon needs a different version or it'll have a negative effect.
Exynos does not play well with this emulator at all.
The one I've put on here is probably your best bet, seeing as I've never used an s7 I couldn't advise on settings but they won't be too dissimilar to this.
So what device are you using?
2x Res is a hell of a push.
Especially for Wii games.
Appreciate your feedback.
The last built by MMJ, he's now stop dev the built exclusive for mali device, i will try to upload it
Mate 20 pro with EMUI 10 . EMUI 10 Break vulkan drivers but enhanced the opengl performance on par with vulkan so is still a win win situation. Also the skip sync on idle is making game stuttering in some title, ex symphonia.
Btw i also found performance mode in EMUI 10 is a lot lot better, you can use it without fear of overheat. My mate 20 pro with performance with 5 minutes of playing still render on normal temp, it seems they tweak the scheduler , while in 9.1 they just simply push the clock speed to the max which make the phone hot in just 5 minutes
in symphonia i can get slow down sometimes in 720p but with performance on no slowdown and game always run full speed, also i can ruh MH3 in 2x res full speed without any stuttering or slowdown even without performance mode in EMUI 10
btw i tested zelda with 2x it constantly run on full speed using the performance mode, before it will become hot after 5 minutes and throttling a lot
Btw the same can't be said for beack spikers, this game run 45 fps on normal but with performance mode it will run 60 fps , unfortunately this exhibit same behaviour with zelda on emui 9,1 it become hot after 5 minutes and minutes 6/7 it throttling making the performance mode useless. I think this is because its a action game so it constantly push max clock where zelda and symphonia only push mere second to prevent slowdown or lag
What did you do to fix it? In my case, the game crashes on the Activision logo after installing, closing and launching it again. Can only play if i reinstall/clear data and keep the game running. If i close it, its the same process. I really dont get it.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and I also removed it from game mode. Also, when I launch it, usually the 1st time it crashes but always loads on the 2nd try. I think that might be our phones fault. I'm pretty sure it wasn't meant to run on a this beast of a phone. Lol
I use QHD and 90Hz but after testing in numerous places I found it was a data issue that foreclosed or gets glitched out and I have to force close and reopen the game to get back in battle royal .
Also make sure to have the app installed from play store.
The apk some of us has been using won't work now the game is officially out.
EDIT: also I turned off ram management and battery optimization
No force closes or issues here. Android 10 user.
I have this issue when I was on open beta 2 of android 10. Tried to fix the freeze issue in battle royale, but no luck. Now I have reverted back to pie. Haven't seen any issues of freezes in the battle royale. Will update once I see any.
