Moto Bootloader policy News

Motorola has not yet officially responded to the query of this petition, but we are seeing some progress and they have noticed us.
https://supportforums.motorola.com/message/355098#355098
The Quick State of Play:
Motorola recently stated that there would be an announcement to their bootloader policy that would help to benefit Developers while protecting its users.
(Refer: http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=495971028278)
This Groubal is in place to request that Motorola provide an unlocked/unencrypted bootloader option for its end users. This option should be applicable to all currently supported Motorola phones and upcoming phones.
At the very least this should also be a call to have Motorola make its official announcement sooner rather than later.
I encourage the following types of user from the Android community to support this Groubal:
• Developers with a Motorola Phone
• Developers who have left Motorola due to this reason
• Developers who will not touch a Motorola phone due to this reason
• Advanced Users with a Motorola Phone
• Advanced Users who have left Motorola due to this reason
• Advanced Users who will not touch a Motorola phone due to this reason
• Any End User that believes in the openness of the Android Platform
Please also spread the word about this Groubal on Facebook and Twitter and use the following hash tag to help it trend. #unlockmoto
Also consider following me on twitter if you want to keep involved:

It will never happen. Sorry. Believing otherwise is giving Motorola too much credit. When you carefully read the facebook announcement it says nothing. They were just defusing a PR bomb.
Motorola releases more devices than they can support and we were triaged. As recently exposed by Cincinnati Bell, Motorola has already been lying to our faces by telling us that it's the carriers that refuse them to allow 2.2 updates for the XT720. Motorola screwed Cincinnati Bell, and now Cincinnati Bell is selling Samsung. Motorola are snake oil salesmen from Texas. End of story.

so .. disappointed at MOTOROLA ..didn't even give us any updates to fix the bugs in stock 2.1 (low mem when 720p taping, the lag, freeze ,hang problem, slow processing...etc....)..can't believe they treat their customers like this ..such a liar
Motorola promises to unlock our bootloader in the end of 2011. (maybe NOT EVERY ?? )
For everyone speaking german: http://www.android-hilfe.de/news-ankuendigungen/98282-motorola-verspricht-entsperrte-bootloader.html
And for everyone speaking english: http://ausdroid.net/
But I fear that this might be just for new devices

Smartest move moto could make. Hope they update all devices. Older and newer

It is our intention to enable the unlockable/relockable bootloader currently found on Motorola XOOM across our portfolio of devices starting in late 2011, where carriers and operators will allow it.

Guess we'll see whatever is supposed to happen (new or old phones + carrier willingness + Moto not lying) in quite a while...

[PETITION] Possibility to unlock the Bootloader - PLEASE SUPPORT THIS

-
Today I have started a petition in the Nokia Phones Community for being able to unlock the bootloader on the N7+.
In my opinion that should not be a question - and it is long overdue.
I hope MANY OF YOU WILL SUPPORT THIS and we will be able very soon to have unlimited contol over our device.

I'm in. Is replying to that thread enough? I couldn't see a 'vote' button like in change.org.

That should be enough. I didn't find an option to create a poll in the Nokia Community.
Thank you for your participation! :good:

i think reply AND click to "Do you have this question as well?" in first post, this count people who like this...
@Micha El
i start too "thread" about unlocking bootloader before some days, but inappropriately in private "Developer preview" part of nokia forum... anyway without answer
You could also tweet to CPO(@sarvikas), CTO(@MikkoLJaakkola) of HMD and NokiaMobile(@Nokiamobile). It is a better way to gain visibility.
Joining the petition!
I joined petition too.
@Micha El I 100% support your petition. I would just like to add something though. Since the new Nokia smartphones are using Android OS and is already part of Android One initiative, I would like to request for Flashing tool, Fastboot & OTA files in order for users to use, update and reflash whenever users need to revert to stock factory firmware just like the Google Pixel series, the Xiaomi Mi A1, Moto X4 with Android One and all other Android One Devices.
today Honor presents his flagship in London... 399€, kirin 970, ... and we are still crying for bootloader
What we are talking about?!?!?!?!?!?
NOKIA WAKE UP!!!
I'm curious if any Nokia employee or a Nokia manager reads our post or is interested in community opinion...
Count me in
bootloader
This may seem a dumb question, but whats the unlock bootloader option in development mode for ?

That option should allow you to manually unlock it via a fastboot command prompt, but even though you enable that flag, Nokia bootloader can't be unlocked because it is encrypted.

Done, but I doubt it changes anything.
Maybe if somebody highlighted it to Android Police and they wrote about it...
My post on that Nokia forums thread:
Allowing user to unlock device bootloader and gain full control over the product he bought should be obligatory for every OEM, next to releasing karnel source on the launch day.
C'mon Nokia, you're doing good with Android One, fast updates and Android P beta now. Go on and make your devices developers and moders friendly. We just want to own the device we paid for.

I've already posted on your thread, great work.
I think we should stop hoping, praying and fighting for that HMD will allow bootloader unlocking.
Even Huawei and Honor have stopped providing bootloader unlocking for all new devices launched after 5/24/2018. For devices released prior to this date, it will only be possible for 60 days from then on.
For Nokia phones now there is the alternative method to pay for unlocking the Bootloader. You need 2 setool credits, but the smallest pack you can buy are 30 credits for 90 USD. But even it it would be cheaper, I will never support this rip of.
I have paid almost 400 € for a Nokia 7 plus with wich I can make phone calls and send messages, but not much more, and the reselling price is about 220 - 240 €...
THAT IS WHAT I REALLY CALL A BAD DEAL!

Hi everybody,
yesterday I've open the nokia support app (every nokia user has it on is phone) to ask for bootloader unloking by chat with nokia support.
I asked to the operator why our bootloader is locked and he told me that is a Nokia developers issue.
So I told him to take note of my complaint and share it with Nokia development department.
I think you can use your app too to do the same.
If we do this massively I hope Nokia can hear us and may give importance to our request.
What do you think about it?
IMHO this could be one of most efficient way to have Nokia attention on our request!
Bye,
syncro.

Warning Bootloader Lock down may affect Nokia 3 Users too!!!

This is just to raise awareness of the possible impending bootloader LOCK DOWN which it seems is been rolled out by HMD Global (Nokia).
Please READ the article which was featured on XDA for all the Info. https://www.xda-developers.com/august-security-update-on-nokia-phones-blocks-the-only-bootloader-unlock-method/
At the end of the article there is a link to sign a petition asking Nokia not to lock down the bootloader without at least first providing an Official Unlock service so be sure to sign it :good:

I've started a change.org petition to let Nokia know the power of the consumer

Hello all
I'm from the Nokia 6.1 Plus community.
Okay, Why are you here?
I'm here becuase i've started a petition to let Nokia know about people who are still waiting for HMD/Nokia to let unlock the bootloader.
Petition
Please support it and lets make Nokia do this!
We did already try petitioning and it did not work out. Looks like it is not the right time to demand again. HMD is itself going through shuffling, financial and manufacturing complexities. Such a topic will not make a priority for them at this point.

Why in you opinion some companies like Rea*lme, oppo, vivo... Are making their phones prisons?

Well we all know that Rea*me, oppo and vivo are the most companies who make everything hard to do in phones, and the most things that they don't want you to do is unlocking the bootloader, in my opinion unlocking the bootloader is the key to do anything in phone, but they are making it the 7th possible thing to do.
Few days ago, i contacted Realme's support, i said hello i have this phone... And i want to unlock the bootloader, they replied with
"Kindly know that it is not available due to the security of the phone" hahaha, are you kidding us, the developers know what they do, don't lie on people with this things that a 7 years old boy won't trust, please note that they talk about there security, not users' one.
Finally, don't ever ever buy an oppo, Realme or Vivo if you are thinking of being free to make any
