[PETITION] Possibility to unlock the Bootloader - PLEASE SUPPORT THIS - Nokia 7 Plus Guides, News, & Discussion

-
Today I have started a petition in the Nokia Phones Community for being able to unlock the bootloader on the N7+.
In my opinion that should not be a question - and it is long overdue.
I hope MANY OF YOU WILL SUPPORT THIS and we will be able very soon to have unlimited contol over our device.

That should be enough. I didn't find an option to create a poll in the Nokia Community.
Thank you for your participation! :good:

@Micha El
i start too "thread" about unlocking bootloader before some days, but inappropriately in private "Developer preview" part of nokia forum... anyway without answer

You could also tweet to CPO(@sarvikas), CTO(@MikkoLJaakkola) of HMD and NokiaMobile(@Nokiamobile). It is a better way to gain visibility.

Joining the petition!

I joined petition too.

@Micha El I 100% support your petition. I would just like to add something though. Since the new Nokia smartphones are using Android OS and is already part of Android One initiative, I would like to request for Flashing tool, Fastboot & OTA files in order for users to use, update and reflash whenever users need to revert to stock factory firmware just like the Google Pixel series, the Xiaomi Mi A1, Moto X4 with Android One and all other Android One Devices.

today Honor presents his flagship in London... 399€, kirin 970, ... and we are still crying for bootloader
What we are talking about?!?!?!?!?!?
NOKIA WAKE UP!!!
I'm curious if any Nokia employee or a Nokia manager reads our post or is interested in community opinion...

This may seem a dumb question, but whats the unlock bootloader option in development mode for ?

That option should allow you to manually unlock it via a fastboot command prompt, but even though you enable that flag, Nokia bootloader can't be unlocked because it is encrypted.

Done, but I doubt it changes anything.
Maybe if somebody highlighted it to Android Police and they wrote about it...
My post on that Nokia forums thread:
Allowing user to unlock device bootloader and gain full control over the product he bought should be obligatory for every OEM, next to releasing karnel source on the launch day.
C'mon Nokia, you're doing good with Android One, fast updates and Android P beta now. Go on and make your devices developers and moders friendly. We just want to own the device we paid for.

I've already posted on your thread, great work.

I think we should stop hoping, praying and fighting for that HMD will allow bootloader unlocking.
Even Huawei and Honor have stopped providing bootloader unlocking for all new devices launched after 5/24/2018. For devices released prior to this date, it will only be possible for 60 days from then on.
For Nokia phones now there is the alternative method to pay for unlocking the Bootloader. You need 2 setool credits, but the smallest pack you can buy are 30 credits for 90 USD. But even it it would be cheaper, I will never support this rip of.
I have paid almost 400 € for a Nokia 7 plus with wich I can make phone calls and send messages, but not much more, and the reselling price is about 220 - 240 €...
THAT IS WHAT I REALLY CALL A BAD DEAL!

Hi everybody,
yesterday I've open the nokia support app (every nokia user has it on is phone) to ask for bootloader unloking by chat with nokia support.
I asked to the operator why our bootloader is locked and he told me that is a Nokia developers issue.
So I told him to take note of my complaint and share it with Nokia development department.
I think you can use your app too to do the same.
If we do this massively I hope Nokia can hear us and may give importance to our request.
What do you think about it?
IMHO this could be one of most efficient way to have Nokia attention on our request!
Bye,

I hope there's some devs willing to work on it. It's a relatively new software version. We all gotta have some patience. I'd really like to get CM10 up and running on the HOX. Works great on my Nexus 7.

I know, I actually emailed htc saying something like "we pay for these phone with our money we should be able to do what we want to do with them." and here is what they said: "I understand that you have some concerns regarding the bootloader unlock on the HTC One X and I would be more than happy to assist you with information!
HTC is committed to listening to users and delivering customer satisfaction. Since announcing our commitment to unlockable bootloaders, HTC has worked to enable our customers to unlock the bootloader on more than 45 devices over the past six months. In some cases, however, restrictions prevent certain devices from participating in our bootloader unlocking program. Rest assured, HTC is committed to assisting developers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC devices and we'll continue to unlock additional devices in the future."
I personally would love to be able to unlock the AT&T HOX through the htcdev website that would be awesome!

Unfortunately, the carriers have the upper hand when it comes to bootloaders and whether they allow them to be unlocked. It could be a while, if ever, until HTC adds the AT&T HOX to their supported unlockable devices. I'll take an unofficial method instead if that's what's available. But yeah, it would be great if it happened officially.
asking when root will be available is like asking a dev when his rom is going to be updated. rest assured it will happen eventually, but the devs that do this do it in there spare time when not at work or with family, and most of the time end up doing all for free and risking there own devices. so the answer is it will come but only when it ready.

Mod Edit: Content Removed and thread closed. This thread served as an advertisement for a paid unlock service offered by another xda member. Since that violates rule 11 of xda's site rules, its not to be discussed here. Thanks!
This is a great long-awaited event! I hope for an open service for the global version.
Unlocked mine [happy] , thanks <mod snip> . Guys - go ahead !! Make our device the based SOC 835 device available in the market.
Well this is a great news.. Finally people will be able to use this phone to it's full extent..

great news, but to late on nokia 8 will no development growing.
I have to agree that it won't get that much dev work done. If at all.
Never buying a nokia again though. Instead of saving up a couple of dollars to get the specs it has, I'd rather spend a good amount on some other phone with more dev-community support.
Atleast minimum a custom recovery is required. Rest can be done by the common users !
Nokia is not for enthusiasts.
But there is no other SOC 835 based phone with almost vanilla Google ROM in that price range are available. This device is having enormous potential - but HMD global taken wrong decision !!! Bad luck for us.
I have nokia 8 chinese version (TA-1052).
How can I request unlock bootloader?

Greetings,
I see manny dramma about unlocking bootloader on nokia devices.
Nokia statement is NO OFFICIAL METHODE TO UNLOCK them, even they server is up and runing
I am offering unlock of bootloader, no matter which nokia.
nokia 2,5,6,6.1,7,7 plus,8 are supported models.
How to do it?

I will calculate 5 free signatures (unlock.bin), if you are lucky you will get it, but hurry up.
When free signatures over, there is paid way (cheap)

Hi.
I strongly recommend you to use my guide posted on Nokia 6 forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/how-to/guide-how-to-unlock-bootloader-qualcomm-t3769930
Critical unlock is necessary in order to rollback - you can just try.
You are absolutely WRONG.
This unlock is OFFICIAL unlock and uses official server.
Ask nokia developers
P.s. We have same nokia 8 prototype, i have also nokia 7plus one of first protos with unlock BL

In the initial release of Nokia 7 firmware (C1N-0430) and Nokia 8 firmware (NB1-303A), there's an app called SecureBootUnlocker which can be executed by dialing *#*#865625#*#*, and send required info to nbls.c2dms.com.
I guess the official server you mean is under the domain of c2dms.com, right?
As for the importance of critical unlock:
Without critical unlock, you won't be able to flash abl, xbl or aboot partitions, which is required when using OST LA without service permission.
You can try it
You are on good way, but not that server. Ask someone who work in HMD, who supplied you with protos.
Alas, why use OST LA to flash, when soon will be able to do any tool on market. I will trust more to the_laser than to you. If he said this is correct to do, he is right.
If bootloader is unlocked and it says that, i dont have nothing more to do about flashing.
The_laser, my idol from good SE days, said how uo flash signature and that is correct for sure
@hahahah1 hikari_calyx
I am interested. I don't need a free unlock, but how much does it cost? And how do you accept payment? If you can not post this information publically, Please send me PM.
PS
I don't speak Chinese and I don't live in China.
Random extraction?I really want to unlock my Nokia 7 plus.

ACT now for bootloader unlock | Official Whatsapp and Telegram groups Realme1

Hello folks,
So i've recently bought realmeone recently primarily due to its hardware. Am not a big fan of color os tbh and in my limited research found some stuff from the internet
First, the bad bit :
Realme1's twin brother oppo F7 still has no way of unlocking bootloader.
Oppo seems to have disabled (deleted?) fastboot binaries.
Expecting GPL compliance from mediatek SOC is asking a bit too much.
Now the good bit :
Realme1 is project treble ready.
We've had examples treble doing wonders for even obscure mediatek devices like this one.
Root and twrp and custom roms are only possible once we have a working way to unlock the phone. And with the issues like messed up multi tasking atleast on the 3gb variant (which i have by the way) it becomes all the more important to have a good custom rom scene to fall back to if color os becomes too unbearable.
I'd assume anyone whose come looking for realmone here on xda, like me, would want to see some dev support for this awesome device. So I am hoping all you folks would take some time and mail oppo at [email protected] asking to make the device's boot loader unlockable.
For those of us who are laziest here's a draft that you can copy paste but i urge people who have time to make their own mail body so that every mail wont look same
Dear oppo,
First of all, as a user of realmeone, thanks for this great value for money smartphone. Many of us power users in the realmeone community would love to have the option to unlock the boot loader so as to be able to root the device. Rooting is essential to some of us who've been used to some nifty root tools like system wide ad blocker etc. We hope oppo will help us exploit full potential of its hardware by allowing boot loader unlock at the earliest.
Thanks

We've also have whatsapp and telegram group for realme1 running to better co ordinate these things and help each other out, find links below:
PS : If anyone knows any other mail id to contact them, feel free to point out I'll add that too here.
Done, email sent! Though I've just ordered my phone and yet to receive it.
We can backup and flash images using miracle box. I mean I haven't personally tried because I don't have miracle box but have seen in the forums that ppl are backing up invidiual images n flashing the firmware back into the device.
I don't know how miracle box works but if some genius can help us then maybe we can make some easy fastboot/sp Tools based tools to flash images..
I'm talking about Oppo f7..
I've already mailed and got response that there's no way I can unlock bootloader and they also told me that it voids warranty and crap so they don't provide that. Regarding kernel sources, they simply ignored it.
I'm going to return the phone back to Amazon. No wonder why XDA opened a forum for OPPO phones which is not developer friendly.

Sorry but had to cancel the order due to stubborn policy of Oppo not allowing bootloader unlock and fastboot binaries. There won't be any development for this phone despite being such a good phone. Heck, I need root for few of my favorite apps and thus can't miss them due to this stupid policy by OEM. No thanks, will wait for Mi A2 or buy Asus zenfone max pro
I think we can plead them through change.org

I just chatted with cc and told him the phone has ram management issues and ask him to check the reviews, everyone is complaining about it. He asked if I need a replacement or return, I politely told him to refund/return, he processed the return request.
This is the first time I ever returned something to Amazon so may be that's why the cc agreed easily. Your mileage will vary. Good luck.

A Request to RealMe Officials
Hi, The RealMe Team
This device really has got the attention of the people with it's specifications, just like how Xiaomi redmi phones did but unfortunately this Locked Bootloader thing is really making me feel as if i am using an Apple, please let the people enjoy their freedom of using an Android. Perhaps in return company will gain more customers.
Thank You.

Has anyone tried the Kingoroot app on the phone? I know MediaTek phones can be difficult to root but I was able to root MTK6737 devices with Kingoroot. It does not unlock the bootloader or anything but it gives you root privileges.
I use Oppo F7 and it won't work on the phone...

OEM / bootloader unlock , we gotta standup for our selves.

Brothers, we need to standup for ourselves and stop this ***** madness.
1. I've sent Huawei many emails, it obviously didn't help.
2. If we start like a mass petition or class action or some other case together, we might stand a chance. Remember we're not the only ones with locked bootloader. / Grayed out OEM unlock in developing settings. The mate 20 pro users and possibly other models have the same issue. We have to team up.
Perhaps we can make an email format here that we copy paste and send to hauwei each of us individually. They would be spammed with say 1 million emails.
3. We have paid allot for this device , an android device should be open and customizable. There is absolutely no valid reason to lock down an android device, unless you as smartphone brand try to protect your spyware .
Anyway are you with me brothers ? Let's get the full potential for the hardware that we paid for. Huawei needs to start offering the bootloader codes again and enable OEM unlock. Period. Other resolutions are not acceptable.

I guess 99,5 % of the users don`t care about root. So it will most probably not happen. Nokia also will not provide help to unlock the bootloader as most other OEMS. Get a Samsung , Xiaomi, OnePlus or Pixel phone if you want root. You buy a phone as is, not how you want it to be.
I do not agree with your mindset. That's a typical beta give up mentality.. no offense.
Huawei used to provide the unlock service service before, and now suddenly it stopped doing so. It can't go without consequences..
I love the hardware and the big screen, there are no better alternatives at the moment.
That 99% of the people doesn't want root, it doesn't mean that the remaining 1% is wrong or need to be neglected. If 1% of the users team up we would have 200.000 plus supporters that can show their voice and that can make this happen.
I am in
Count me in too!! This insolence cannot go unpunished.
Not to play spoilsport but your suggestion would work if indeed a million people request for it. From what I understand, the Chinese version of the Huawei phones can be unlocked without issues. Only the international version has this issue. Considering that the majority of the phones sold would be Chinese (which is their main market) who are not affected and accounting for a minuscule part of the phones they sell for the global audience are that interested in rooting, getting them to do anything has a low probability. Having said that, if root is so critical for anyone, the Chinese version is always an option. Most of the issues are resolved related to the Chinese specific devices
