slow WiFi download - Huawei P30 Questions & Answers

So I have recently had ultrafast broadband installed (upto 150meg) but find that when I download content like videos or music etc it seems to take forever . I mean with this kind of download speed and album on Spotify for instance should be there really quick right? Sometimes it's taking 20-30-40 mins.
Anyone else aware of any issues around WiFi performance?

Browser mp4 streaming issues

On a website that I frequent when in the car to watch random junk (tech and other news) often times the videos are upwards of 100+ megs. rather than watch the annoying talking and summary of the videos i like to skip ahead and just see what all the stories have.
often times when doing this i will get a FC on Movies.apk and if i try to start it again it will show the first frame of the file and then do nothing. The bar moves like the object is playing but there is often no sound and never any video once this happens.
I have found that if i let the film completely download first and then play it i dont get these problems, but if I try to move around, either forwards or backwards thats when the problems happen.
FWIW, i am on enom 1.8.1 and it has been doing this since 1.7.1
no theme and no browser mods.
i hate to do this, but its killing me as to why it wont stream properly... especially when the G1 has no problem doing so.

[Q] Google Music 4.x is slow and uses a lot of battery

Hi,
No matter the rom (ICS) I use (Gummy, CyberGR MOd, PixelRom 1.60...) + google music app (4.1.152 and 4.1.153) + Eugene kernel 7 or Air kernel.
When I say slow I mean the browsing through files or, eg, when showing recent music Thumbnail... it takes year to show up. And when I press play it takes a lot of time to start the track.
Go a lot of battery drain too and when i play music and the cell getting hot.
it's acting like HDD with a lot of random access with poor data rate transfer...kind of wierd
any idea?
PS: did try to format the sd
Weird, because I've been using Google Music 4 since it came out and became my primary music player. I have no issue with the music app.

Are you playing music from the cloud?
The long loading times and pictures being shown slowly are because its downloading them to your device from the cloud.
And again, it takes a few seconds to play because it's streaming from the cloud.
So in this case, your internet must not be that great.
This is all assuming of course, you are using it to play from the cloud.
no i'm not. all mp3 are on my nand.
Bu Well, for nown it's fixed... made yet an other install (Gummy 0.8.2 + Google music 4.1.153 since a don't like the old music app form CM7 + Eugene's kernel).
Don't know what happen tbh since i did not changed anything in my way of installing a custom rom.
Maybe it's linked to an app I use for some reason.

Cannot say I have had any issues.

I had severe buffering issues with my Infinity that I returned and when I was playing with the Note at BB it was taking forever to buffer on YouTube but I chalked that up to BB poor/overloaded WiFi. Hoping when my 32g Note arrives this week it buffers better on my home WiFi. I'll update as soon as my Note arrives.

I can confirm a similar experience... great web speed but not great youtube. Only tried one video and wrote it off as a bad feed until seeing your post. Will test further.

The issue seems to be if you have the video set to HD. Must be a YouTube specific issue as this tablet gets excellent WiFi signal. Hmmm will have to contact Samsung about this, should have no YouTube lag at all one tablet of this quality.
Is there an app that helps cache YouTube for android like there is for PC's?

Are you sure that you have the most recent version? I was having this issue but I updated over the weekend and it's now it seems to be gone. :fingers-crossed:

Haven't had this issue with updated YouTube version 4.0.23. Been playing a lot of Lady Gagy videos to test since they're high quality HD with clean sound. They start within a few seconds of clicking and buffer far in advance of play with no pause over a wimpy 4864/768kbps DSL. Suggest updating the app and making sure your broadband can play on another device such as PC/laptop and if on WIFI try a different channel with less interference from other access points.
No issues whatsoever using the YouTube App or playing YouTube videos from within Opera or the stock browser.

Horrible buffering on my EVO 4g LTE

The problem with lag-diagnosis always is to exactly find out WHERE in the chain of data transmission ther might be a lag:
An example:
I open the browser, search and find an American site (which might be complex, buggy, not coded minimalisticly) hosted on an American server and want to load it:
I call the site
Now if the server is very busy my request will be delayed (waiting circle), then the data packets are transferred from host server to regional node then to a central node, then to the undersea data cable to the European central node, then to a local node and then to me home to my router. In alot of cases the data transferral is even much more complex and inclides many more transferral steps.
Now the data packets are transmitted from the router via WiFi to my SGN10.1:
Also here a lot of obstacles could reduce the transferral rate of the data packets and cause a lagginess: distance, how many WiFi devices are connected to the router and are they active or not (e.g. in case my 3 other Galaxy devices and notebook download updates from the Play-store data transferral rate drops to almost zero) or is there another device producing electromagnetic disturbances so that data packets are distorted and have to be reloaded.
Only if all data packets are transferred at maximum speed and arrive undistorted and You find a lag THEN You can speak of a device's lagginess and even THEN You might not know if the lag is not produced by the device itself but some other background apps or apps that secretely send infos or download/upload bloat thus blocking Your processor or surfing.
On 3G/HSP/LTE the issue could be even worse if the PROVIDER decides that everytime there is an interruption in the data transferral the data connection is interrupted to give other participants logged to the cell/radio mast more bandwidth. And THIS differs a lot between different providers HOW they handle the requests for bandwidth. (If You are on 3G You can see this on the graph for the battery in settings how the reception is and this differs a lot even if You donĀ“t move the device from the spot)
You can blame a device to be laggy only when data stored in the internal memory and are scrolled through show lagginess.

[Q] wifi slower than on laptop, jerky net video

Hi to all,
On my TF700, when I watch a video on the net, youtube for example, it's very jerky, as if the wifi data flux was to slow. On the same place with my laptop, the same video is perfectly smooth and not jerky at all.
Any idea where the problem is coming from ?
Thanks
Regis

Are you in the YouTube app or on the desktop site?
Many people have reported that FlashPlayer doesn't work correctly on their tf700.
I don't have that problem, since I am on CleanRom, which basically solved that issue (and much more! )

[help please] live streaming, watching live stream and face filters are disappeared !

Actually, this is my first thread but I need some help. I'm using an android device with Jellybean (4.2.2), 1.2 GHz Dual-Core CPU and 1 GB RAM. I updated Instagram to latest version exist at all (10.33.0). But I don't have the option to create live stories or even watch them! I also don't have the option to face filters . I think it is something they added to apk file. It probably detects that I have low spec phone and it hides these options . I have a theory actually. I think it is possible to mod that apk and enable these options. Because I know my phone is capable of streaming and watching them (i can watch live streams on other apps). I tried to edit apk but i couldn't . So I need someone experienced at modding apk. Can u guys help me? (Pretty Please )
Edit: I also want to say that I was able to watch streams for few hours (I did nothing). I thought it was a bug and it is fixed but then, it disappeared again.
