Hi guys,
I'm looking for a new phone, I've narrowed it down to 2 :-
Huawei p30 pro
Galaxy s10 plus
Anyone have any ideas which one to get, I've read reviews on both but seem to be very close in comparison
TIA

Never buy anything that is Huawei, they are made with cheap Chinese hardware and many nations recognize Huawei devices as a security risk due to the fact that Chinese companies are known for manipulating code to steal your personal information. ZTE is another brand to stay away from.
I recommend you buy non-Chinese Qualcomm based devices.
MTK devices have decent specs at decent prices but the hardware is low quality and cheaply made.
Spreadtrum devices are also cheaply built.

Yes, it's quite a rabbit whole, be mindful that this also applies to just about any Chinese manufactured software and hardware. There are so many wholes that it is best to trust none of them. Especially apps built in China(Kingroot is a prime example), it's hard to say which are legit or not, it's best to avoid them all, just to be safe.

What do you guys think of the MI-TWO? for only $313 dollars OFF contract, it's amazing, and 2gb ram+Qualcomm Snapdragon Pro Quad-core, its a bargain. what do you guys think?
I would like to order, but how? It is only available in china as I know.

I dunno, I think it's releasing in October, and I will sent someone to China to get it for me! Lucky me.

It looks really good. I have held off on getting a new phone since my contract expired as there is nothing out there that does everything I want, but this might just be the phone for me.
Quad-Core, large screen (+ high resolution), Add-on Micro SD-Card slot, looks like removable battery as well, so can upgrade to the 3000mAh one for longer life.
There has to be a catch somewhere ...
Looks freaking insane, but I dont like MIUI that much :/

Not only removable but from the article I read this morning the 3000mAh is going to cost you a whole 2mm in thickness.
This phone looks amazing, can't wait to see if it's obtainable in the US and if it gets any momentum going. I'd expect a lot of prepaid folks to give this a hard look for what looks to be the best bang for your buck ever.

Hate to say it but this phone will not get a big following anywhere outside of china for many reasons. Some being that these types of china knock offs tend not to have the hardware that is advertised, no real warranty outside of china, and normally don't run official android builds, nor have access to the market due to Google and china issues.
Might not be bad if they could get their act together but I don't see iit happening

I want but don't want to think about how much extra I will be paying to import it. It is really nice though and if I wanted to I could just use an alternate launcher. They should open up a shop in the states xD.

One look at the phone and UI and you will see why that won't happen. They keep it in china due to the lack of copyright laws.

Well china does have copyright laws. It's either just not enforced at all or it favors companies in the country.
Also as a reply to your previous post, this company is supported by Qualcomm directly (or at least so I read on Engadget). And since it is running MIUI, it also has full access to the Play Store and will get updates since it just updates whenever MIUI gets updated. Warranty probably won't work but I tend to try to not damage my products and keep them safe. If there are manufacturing issues, well that's my fault for not researching the product more before I bought it.
Sent from my Incredible S using Tapatalk 2
Just because it has MIUI (which is not something I would brag about lol) doesn't mean it will have the market. If it looks good to you then by all means give it a shot. Good luck just don't expect it to find a home here.

*sigh, you definitely haven't used MIUI, or any product by Xiaomi. They are TRUSTED. Go ask those who uses the Mi-One, they are the most satisfied bunch of all smartphone Enthusiasts. Why? They don't get updates not every six months, but every Friday! And trust me, they DID NOT make up the hardware specs. Its either that you're racists towards Chinese companies, or just a unlucky customer who bought a fake product.
Xxx oops! accidentally beamed from my awesome NEXUS S! xxX
First off I am not racist to anything at all. I give everyone a fair shake. As for MIUI your right I have never used it and never will. I don't support what they did.
As for the hardware specs I am not aging they made them up. Just stating what many have seen with buying knock off devices. If this device hardware is legit cool and I am sure people will be happy with it.

Xiaomi MI-2 - kind of future for Android Smartphones- ...
All the hardware of the Xiaomi MI-2 is surprising, especially for the 1999 Yuan chinese price...
For sure, the lack of a memory card slot is annoying, but it is the choice of Google too, inside all the Nexus models.
Now if people could write an authentic JB ROM in order to replace the miui "iOS like" ROM, and if the international price could be really low, I would be inclined to replace my Nexus
Xiaomi 2
Xiaomi 2 is nice between my and my girl we have the last two previous models....her service provider in china will give the phone free when she signs a new contract and I will be trading her a JM phone for it.

Hi guys
I'm thinking of getting a cheap phone from China to supplement my Note II. My main concerns (apart from the obvious reliability one) is battery life and camera performance. I plan to use this mainly as a going out phone so want it to be decent enough to take pictures in low light situations.
Very confusing with all these models and websites, and the fact there doesn't seem to be THAT much info on these phones.
I would appreciate any input from you lot who have any knowledge of these devices or have one yourself or have experience of getting these phones from China.
I have pinned it down to a couple of devices, but I'm not sure if there's something more suitable instead. I'm not looking to spend much more than £150 to be honest.

In my opinion the Lenovo is a better buy because one it is a known brand. Two there is more chance of that having dev support compared to the other one.

Plain and simple, don't buy china knockoff phones. In the long run you'll be better off buy a cheap older android like the g1 or maybe a mytouch. Buying from shady manufacturers is a great way to get scammed out of your hard earned money.

It's not a knock off though.
Phones like the Zopo C2 and Lenovo A830 are highly praised.
I'm still a little worried though, mainly about the warranty.
My research has led me to believe that, in China, makes like Star are problematic but something like ZOPO C2 is more high end.

Most Chinese phones are knockoffs but lately china has been releasing good quality android phones which are not knockoffs and the ones that you just mentioned are one of the two. Warranty might be a problem due to the fact that the company might only exist in china and therefore you might have to send it all the way to china.

Hm Well in that case just do your research on the phone. Read and watch reviews and then take it from there. I would suggest that you make sure the phones are at the least, evenly matched spec wise, there's no reason you should be downgrading when it comes to your device. Good luck.

The specs of the huawei are higher (quadcore, hd display, 2gb of ram...) but I'm afraid of the lack of development for the device, and I've never had a huawei so I'm not sure about the building quality.

You'll want to wait. Unfortunately. BLU has been very reticent about uploading source, which is about the only thing at the moment that's going to expedite development efforts. We were lucky to get root and Xposed, but I don't have tons of confidence we'll be seeing roms anytime soon.
I mean that with the utmost respect to the devs currently working on this device, but I'm sure you'd concur it's tedious work.

Yea, I would think being BLU's flagship (and the fact they do have a dedicated system for distributing source) they'll eventually do it, but I dislike the lack of transparency when they technically needed to have that done from day 1.
I'm frequently tempted to sell my BLU and invest in a Nexus, but I don't like Huawei and I don't want to keep answering "What's a BLU?"

It's kinda hard to match the pure xl hardware to price ratio, and that's what I was looking at. Usually a $500 phone is out of my reach but it's getting kinda hard to resist since there's not so many affordable mid/high range reliable phones out here anymore. I mean I don't have nothing against my alcatel idol 3, I like it, it's just Im not exactly in love with it... And the only reason I got it is because I couldn't afford the pure xl and it was a "I need a phone quick" kinda thing.
Buying phones is always a struggle for me.

The Pure XL is ballin' specs wise, and it should get support at some point. However, MediaTek is notorious for being anti-GPL.
If you're looking for a decent cost and good phone, many of my coworkers have a OnePlus One, and all things considered I still think it's one of the best buys on the market.

I moved to the Pure XL from a OnePlus One. Didn't consider the OnePlus 2 because it's the same size as the One - and the specs didn't change enough to justify moving to the 2. I like the Pure XLs larger size. Would be nice if Blu would at least upgrade to Android 6.
