My original charge HR got 4-5 days on a charge. After a couple years I was getting at most a day. I bought one of the TAE batteries from Amazon and it had less than 6 hours right out of the box. Has anyone found a reliable replacement?

Hi,
I bought an HP iPAQ 214 a few days ago and I'm concerned with the battery. I gave it a full charge (it reported 100%) and when I unplugged it, it dropped to 92% almost immediately. After draining the battery (which took about half a day with casual use) I gave it another full charge. This time it did not do the initial big drop, but it still seemed to drain faster than I felt it should.
For example, if I have a remote desktop session open for 2 1/2 minutes and browse the web for 2 1/2 minutes (example of 5 minutes use) I will loose between 3 and 5%. This battery is 2200mAh; I have an old model which has a 1100mAh and this battery seems better!
I can't find in any specifications of this model the estimated battery life. I believe I will get 3 or 4 hours at best, does that seem right? Maybe I'm just used to my netbook lasting twice, if not, three times as long as that and my phone lasts about a week with casual use. I feel I will need to charge the iPAQ once, if not two times a day; is that normal?
Are there any things I can try or does this battery seem bad?
Thanks for any advice
I have gotten two products from www.dealextreme.com that provides me with days of mobile power:
I got the 3500 mAh battery pack and the 6000 mAh External Battery Pack.
I got the 6000 mah external pack weeks ago and had to plug it in to my phone om my 70 minute commute home to use the phone as much as I want.
Last week the 3500mah-pack arrived and I am quite satisfied. After the first charge I got 23 hours out of it. After the second charge I got 27 hours. And now I have 30% left after 24 hours use.
I play games about 2 hours a day, listen to music (spotify) 2-3 hours. Talk on the phone approx 30 minutes and surf the web approx 2-3 hours each day.
Got my galaxy 3 for 1,5 year. Light usage, GPS rarely, 3g never, wifi only to download or update, no Internet, don't spend hours talking either. Battery lasted for about three days. About a month ago I installed the GO Launcher, looked nice, just to check it out. Removed it in a couple of days. Possibly a coincidence but right after the battery's life dropped to less than a day. Well I thought it's time was up so I ordered a new one (XDA will not allow a link from me yet) cause the genuine costs about 20 euros in Greece.
When I got the battery it was half full so I charged it fully - not for 8 hours or so- and then... it lasted for about a day. Drained it completely and recharged fully...lasted one day. Downloaded Battery Calibration and calibrated ...lasted one day. Let it charge for more than eight hours and then calibrated...lasted one day. I'm fed up! Should I consider it a lousy (chinese) battery problem and look for another battery or does anyone have another idea?
Would wiping everything out and installing the ROM again make a difference? I'm using Kyrillos' 9.6 JPU
Hello, i have my sensation from 2011.
I recently bought him a new battery (2 days ago). !I didn't charge it while being closed yet.
So far i only charged him fully once.
The second time this morning (8 hours of charge time) it was only at ~76%.
In the first 2 hours it charged fast, and when (apparently, i don't know if it really has anything to do with it) the battery temp got lower it stoped charging, when i checked the hour when i woke up the battery started to charge again because the temperature of it raised.
I'm not sure if it has anything to do with battery temperature, I observed this from the screenshot.
When i charge it closed it ussualy charges in ~2 hours. But it barely gets to 3/4 charged when left 8 hours?!?! this is ridiculous.
Do any of you know what might cause the problem?
Is it a genuine HTC Battery? Have you tried it with a different ROM?
Maybe a calibration using Battery Monitor Widget can help.
It is a geniune one.
My other battery had this problem too.
About to be taking the bus to my university and I was just wondering if the stock Samsung 2600mah batteries hold their charges for a while...like weeks or even months without significant loss..
I'm debating either getting a portable power bank so I can charge on the go while I am on the bus or roaming around campus or just getting a couple extra Samsung OEM batteries and calling it a day..

I have an extra OEM 2600mah battery that was fully charged a couple of weeks ago. I just swapped it and my phone is showing 90%.

Very nice to know...thanks very much :good::good::good::good::highfive::highfive::highfive::highfive::highfive:
Just get any 3rd party battery that has a good rep. I used the zerolemon ones that fit the stock battery door, and they lasted me about 8 mths before starting to discharge more quickly and shutting off my phone randomly. It got slightly bloated too so i threw it away and got a pair of new ones.
I'm not into powerbanks, but if u are u can get one.
I am using spare battery (not original) and Philips power bank.
If you are using your phone very much you cannot survive all day with one stock battery charge.
I have an OEM battery i got from Amazon for $5. It holds charge pretty well. Typically i only have to swap to my spare once a month or so. After a month to six weeks my battery is about 89%.

I have two Onite 2600mah battery with charger. After charge and dully drain the battery for the first 3 cycles as the service team told me,the battery can last a long time.Even when heavy used,I have an extral battery to replace. In this case,I think a powerbank is no need.
But if you don't want to bring an extral battery in your bag or you have many devices need to charge,a powerbank is more useful.
