Hey fellas , a few days ago i stumbled across this kernelsu or KernelAssistedSuperuser (read up on here)
since this is a kernel modification its working on q DP1 regardless of the new overlayfs .
I would be kinda carefull with this so , since there is no management of root access (like magiskmanager or supersu app) it just allows anything.
Also please be aware that even if ur rooted now u still cant mount system as read/write , so many rootapps / rootstuff is likely to not work.
Im not quite sure if this will trip SafetyNet or not
If u want to try it anyway , here is what to do.
Download the boot.img for DP1 from here or for DP2 here
Reboot ur phone into fastboot (if u dont know how , pls dont use this)
flash the new boot.img by typing "fastboot flash boot pathtodownloadedboothere" (without the "")
Reboot into Android
Profit
In case u would want to switch back to non root , just flash the boot.img of android q for 3xl like u flashed the rooted boot.img and ur back to stock

it could and it could not , it depends if the app needs /system to be writeable , for example adaway doesnt work bcs it wants to edit /system/etc/hosts , but luckypatcher for another example works fine bcs it only works with /data.
Just try and report what works
Anyone else try this yet?

Ok, so EX kernel manager works, pixel launcher mod works. I can't get titanium backup to work, it keeps searching for root. Doesn't say I'm not rooted though.

As we all know Samsung has started pushing the final Nougat build to users, Indians are going to get the OTA soon in the coming weeks. I want to update my phone finally & root it at the same time. Before I do that I wanted to clarify the steps I'm going to perform with you guys to avoid any mistakes. Hope this is full proof.
I'm currently on 6.0.1 SM930FD.
The attached screenshot has all the steps I'm going to perform, the only change is step 12 where ROM will change to Super su zip file.
I hope there is no modem changes? Or any sort of bootloader upgrade that needs to be performed?
Thanks for all the help people, hope this helps everyone.

I'm from India and flashed the BTU firmware to checkout the official unrooted Nougat.

Well I found much better way with installing this [Universal Script S7/S7 Edge] UniMod V1 (Debloat+Root+Busybox+AdBlock+More)
So I've been watching some videos on how to root s7 on nougat & I can see mostly people using magisk with phh root? I really liked the idea of magisk as we can un root the device at any give point just with a simple switch. Imagine OTA updates (not sure if it works) though there is flash fire for that purpose but if magisk works flawless then why not? What are your thoughts on this?

Worked on the root today and posted a thread. Root is working on Nougat. No Problem. You've to use the latest supersu build.

Yeah I've seen that video made by Shark Jungle channel in YouTube. I did not try that.
He said that Magisk is not workin at the moment.
To use phh root, you need TWRP.
And Inorder to get the OTA updates, you need to have stock Recovery
BTW, You can also unroot in supersu with one click.

I got same problem, solutions for my was:
1. install BusyBox by Meefik ( Google play)
2. install Kernel Adiutor ( https://github.com/yoinx/kernel_adiu...pp-release.apk ) ( Kernel Adiutor from Google play dont work)
3. opem BusyBox tap Install
4. open Kernel Adiutor and go to Misc Controls, change Current SELinux Status: Permissive (after reboot SELinux stay premissive )
5. flash Viper4 via TWRP
6. go to folder: root/vendor/etc and rename file from audio_effects.conf to audio_effects.conf.bak
7. open Viper4
8. Install driver (thats can take 1-3 min)
9. reboot - done
this I do always

So need add a command in boot-script to set selinux status to 'permissive' .

TIMEWARP! Today is August 25th!
Xiaomi has released betas earlier than expected/scheduled!
-> http://en.miui.com/thread-751928-1-1.html
therefore xiaomi.eu has released their build at 2017-08-18 here:
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/7-8-17.41122/
BEFORE installing/upgrading to this rom - consider this as early BETA with all its consequences!
If you need an rock solid system its better to install the latest Global/China stable!
Update info:
- update MIUI as ususal
-> download .zip based ROM from xiaomi.eu
-> make backup
-> make backup (really! -> advice: create a full TWRP backup)
-> personal advice: install update via TWRP recovery (on my device MIUI 8 Updater damaged the downloaded MIUI9-ROM)
--> If you get an ERROR 7 while install and check if all partitions are marked under mount options. Then enable and disable MTP. Restore your fresh TWRP Backup, reboot into recovery and try the MIUI 9 ROM update again.
---> behaivior seems to be a mounting glitch in TWRP - but was not able to reproduce :-/
-> result: be happy with your fresh installed MIUI 9!
- install your favorite root if needed via TWRP (Magisk 13.5 beta works perfectly)
TWRP recovery info:
- modded TWRP recovery 3.1.1-0 for weekly ROM 7.5.15_v8-7.0 - 7.7.20 20170523-2356 by raupe stays compatible with this ROM
- modded TWRP 3.0.2-0 by @MrRaines stays compatible with this ROM
OTA update info:
Today (2017-08-25) xiaomi.eu enabled the OTA update server - you can update your MIUI the easy way again! *yay* -> just press the check for updates button from within MIUI

OTA file is stored in root directory under cache folder after dowloading it as I know so basically someone could be able to grab it and share it.

Yes it's smooth but interms of features and accessibility it's a backward step.
1) Removal of screenshot button in power menu
2) Removal of most used apps in recent screen
3) Too much space wasted in headings in the notification area

Screenshot is more accessible than pressing a button, I don't use any buttons, just swipe up and screenshot is down below, except for powering off, used gestures all than time S2S and so on with clean slate kernel, 2 and 3 don't mind and don't use it at all. That's my opinion, plus on this ROM sometimes it freezes...so far on 11 nothing so far. But it all depends on who uses it...at least developers giving us an option, just stating the fact coz I used both Pixel dust caf and aosp... there's a hiccup freezes sometimes. Anyway, enough with this, this is Pixel Dust topic anyway
