Rooting on Nougat. - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

As we all know Samsung has started pushing the final Nougat build to users, Indians are going to get the OTA soon in the coming weeks. I want to update my phone finally & root it at the same time. Before I do that I wanted to clarify the steps I'm going to perform with you guys to avoid any mistakes. Hope this is full proof.
I'm currently on 6.0.1 SM930FD.
The attached screenshot has all the steps I'm going to perform, the only change is step 12 where ROM will change to Super su zip file.
I hope there is no modem changes? Or any sort of bootloader upgrade that needs to be performed?
Thanks for all the help people, hope this helps everyone.

Its the same procedure I think. We have got the rooted Custom STOCK ROMs as well.
I'm from India and flashed the BTU firmware to checkout the official unrooted Nougat.
I'll try rooting today and let you know.

If you plan to root, Package disabler pro stops working. Try Titanium backup to uninstall apps.

Well I found much better way with installing this [Universal Script S7/S7 Edge] UniMod V1 (Debloat+Root+Busybox+AdBlock+More)

So I've been watching some videos on how to root s7 on nougat & I can see mostly people using magisk with phh root? I really liked the idea of magisk as we can un root the device at any give point just with a simple switch. Imagine OTA updates (not sure if it works) though there is flash fire for that purpose but if magisk works flawless then why not? What are your thoughts on this?

Worked on the root today and posted a thread. Root is working on Nougat. No Problem. You've to use the latest supersu build.

If you use this, you may get bootloop on Nougat Better to root and remove the apps by Titanium Backup.
Did you try it on Nougat ?

Yeah I've seen that video made by Shark Jungle channel in YouTube. I did not try that.
He said that Magisk is not workin at the moment.
To use phh root, you need TWRP.
And Inorder to get the OTA updates, you need to have stock Recovery
BTW, You can also unroot in supersu with one click.

Bro. Touch the more options arrow/button and tick the " keep anyway(unsafe) " option. Ignore the Google Alert it's not a big thing. Google will stop u from doing stuff like rooting so it tries make us feel as if apps like Lucky Patcher, Kingoroot etc. Are virus. But if you an antivirus like McAfee they won't recognise these apps as virus ?

Well, first of all it only worked with Android 5.1 Lolipop
Second, it soft bricked my device, so I am pretty sad.
I would recommended the pixel rom by helloffire. It is debloated, extremely fast, and preinstalled with root.

Would be interested in TA-1052 updates thanks as I cannot update directly via OTA.
PS - also interested in how to grab them, I tried pausing the OTA update just before installation and searching for the file with ES Explorer but no luck.
EDIT - I found it after activating ROOT Explorer in ES File Explorer and searching for OTA, it's called "update_s.zip". Now to be brave enough to flash it, hehe...

It's not to hard. I just take in a lot that I read from other forums. I'm not as experienced as others but I've been learning on the way.
I can try to change the calling app, I did it once. Do you have any suggestions as to what app I should use to replace the call app? And would you like some more features to be added. I'm lacking on some idea's. I'm already looking at adding Substrantum, Audio FX, Eleven Music, and a CPU Controller. "Those will be in the next Update, along with a new boot animation."
Thank you for the work you've put in! I just wanted to report that I crash when I try to click Home Screen in the Settings under the display tab. Also, would it be possible for you to post the vendor files or what ever you used to compile the rom. That would be extremely helpful.

I'm about to change the ROM's build.prop to fit the ROM. Can I get some volunteers to help me edit the settings app.
Thank you for this custom ROM and TWRP! I tested this (and still using as a daily driver) and can confirm working on the LG Phoenix 4 AT&T unlocked bootloader. With Magisk 18.0 I wouldn't recommend you update till a later version is released due to force close errors, but is rare with bash installed to /system. This ROM is very clean and I'm impressed and big thanks to the developer I've been looking for a way to root my Phoenix 4 and have a debloated rom

[Guide]Kinda root Q DP1[CROSSHATCH]

Hey fellas , a few days ago i stumbled across this kernelsu or KernelAssistedSuperuser (read up on here)
since this is a kernel modification its working on q DP1 regardless of the new overlayfs .
I would be kinda carefull with this so , since there is no management of root access (like magiskmanager or supersu app) it just allows anything.
Also please be aware that even if ur rooted now u still cant mount system as read/write , so many rootapps / rootstuff is likely to not work.
Im not quite sure if this will trip SafetyNet or not
If u want to try it anyway , here is what to do.
Download the boot.img for DP1 from here or for DP2 here
Reboot ur phone into fastboot (if u dont know how , pls dont use this)
flash the new boot.img by typing "fastboot flash boot pathtodownloadedboothere" (without the "")
Reboot into Android
Profit
In case u would want to switch back to non root , just flash the boot.img of android q for 3xl like u flashed the rooted boot.img and ur back to stock

it could and it could not , it depends if the app needs /system to be writeable , for example adaway doesnt work bcs it wants to edit /system/etc/hosts , but luckypatcher for another example works fine bcs it only works with /data.
Just try and report what works
Anyone else try this yet?

Ok, so EX kernel manager works, pixel launcher mod works. I can't get titanium backup to work, it keeps searching for root. Doesn't say I'm not rooted though.

How to root OnePlus 7 Pro?

Is there a guide or a wise person who could help me with rooting
-OnePlus 7 Pro
-Android ver. 10
- OOS 10.0.7 GM21BA
-Model 1913
I already did root once or twice but it is not working as intended, my camera, video and WIFI are not working at all. Haven't tested any other apps or functions what works and what doesn't.
Magisk is the latest version (and the Manager).
Please help, i'm completely new to the rooting thing, I rooted my old OnePlus 5T with a guide from here and it has been working to this day (used it mostly to spoof in Pokemon GO)
edit: I have tried using the guide By Arden144, Senior Member on 17th June 2019, 02:52 AM but that one is a little bit old and it does work yes but my WIFI, camera and video doesn't work.
Really? There are topics a lot. Basically;
Backup your data.
Unlock bootloader
Flash twrp
install magisk

It's early access and its full so no and all the data is gone from it sadly. I hope there wasn't anything super important.
I updated Oneplus7 pro to Android 11 using the information found in XDA.
I am unable to install TWRP to it now using fastboot.
I am still rooted but cannot install custom recovery.
Any ideas guys???

Don't flash custom recovery yet. There isn't one for OOS 11. You will end up with the phone being stuck. Once the OOS source is out Devs can make one that works with A11.
