Hey there,
I've got a problem since I first updated from B131 to B360 when it was released. On a different Forum I informed Honor about this and they said they will look into it. But as always I never heard back and the recent Update from B360 to B380 didn't fix it.
So I thought I might ask you guys here, maybe some of you experience the same issue. Right now I couldnt find anything about it on the Internet.
The problem:
While watching Videos on YouTube or on websites I suffer from "Stripes" on my screen. It looks like bad interlacing but I have no idea.
I can't really describe it, that's why I made some videos to show it. It's really noticable with low resolution, it's getting less noticeable the better the resolution is but even with 720p I can see it.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8JGN2ihtVAFYVV3Znk4NEFDWU0/view
In the 2nd video at 0:14 you can see the cathedral. While the cathedral is moving, the stripes remains at the same position on the screen, they aren't moving along to the image. So you can see its not the video which is causing the stripes.
I have filmed my phone while playing the videos. I screen recorded it before but it appears in the screen recordings the stripes are gone. That's why I assumed it's a hardware issue. To verify this I went back to android 6 EMUI 4 and tried it there. But with Emui 4 I have no problem at all, and now I have no idea whether it's an hardware or software issue.
I'm really hoping for some answers, if not I probably will return the phone as long as I still have warranty....
I have the same issue since Nougat. The only way to "fix it" is to rotate your phone until they gone
EDIT: after a rollback to b131 and update to b380 again seems to fix the problem

If I rotate they are still there.
I did a Rollback to B131 from B360 as I said. I updated to B380 from B131, so it didn't change anything

For me sometimes I had that bug sometimes no, it happens especially when I watched YouTube and charge my phone in the same time. Since the rollback and b380 I haven't noticed that bug... But even when I had it, rotate the phone multiple times MAY solve the problem (or close YouTube and restart your phone), it's so random
OK for me it's not random at all. It's always there....
This thread is created to find a fix to the Huawei Mate 9 fingerprint sensitivity (or lack there of) sensor issue, an issue that also plagues the Google Pixel phones.
Since upgrading to Android 8 I have found the registering a fingerprint with the phone is next to impossible. The sensitivity of the sensor has been cut down from Android 7.x. I have left messages to @HuaweiUSA in a DM to them and in the general public areas of Twitter. I have also posted this to other social venues.
Now, without resorting to rooting and changing a kernel file, I am asking others what can be done to fix this. Before you respond, please note:
1. Yes I cleaned the sensor
2. Yes my fingers are clean.
3. Yes I actually have fingerprints.
4. This thread is to see who else has this problem and to provide fixes/workarounds for those with the problem.
I do note that the fingerprint sensor does work somewhat well after to register your fingerprint. It is only the enrollment of a fingerprint that is the hardest.
If anyone has fixes, please note them here. Many thanks.
UPDATE: Huawei's official answer to the fingerprint sensor problem is to perform a factory reset after you upgraded your phone to Android 8.
Another issue that will affect fingerprint resolution: users REBRANDING their phone.
Huawei has specific firmware to specific brandings. So if you changed your C185 or C900 to C567 (or any other rebranding), you need to change back and then try the upgrade, reboot, factory reset method to fix things. Tech support said this would solve a number of issues beyond just fingerprint issues. Including call quality issues, networking, etc.
My wife updated her Mate 9 to Oreo using OTA, she received the 363 (C432) version directly.
After the update she lost her SD card, ringtones etc...
After a factory reset she struggled to get her fingerprints recognised, as if the phone could not "read" her finger. I did at the end but it was clear the sensor lost its sensitivity...When I tried to store my fingerprint in her phone it worked a lot better but still more difficult then on my Mate 9.
Her phone is an original German phone and not a rebranded model and the factory reset did not solve the issue...
So your not the only one facing this issue.
i use my m9 with OREO (b361) without problems so far! I have no recognition delays more than on my Honor 7 or my LG G5!
i did a factory reset after upgrading and have registered two fingers twice! This is a little bit tricky because often i got the notification that my finger was known by system. But it is possible to register every finger twice if you are a little bit patient.
Please try different finger positions too.
We tried different positions...I stated that compared to my mate 9 running on Oreo the mate 9 from my wife - also running on Oreo has a fingerprint reader who became less sensitive after the update. We have 2 mate 9's so we can compare both of them...
Our both mate 9 too.

How do I downgrade from android 8 (oero) to android 7 (nougat) ? I have serious problems with the fingerprint sensor after the upgrade.
Thanks.

Depending on your model, connect your phone to your PC annd open hi suite (if it doesn't automatically), click on update and if your model version is supported, you'll have an option to go back to an earlier build.
Couple things I find that works. About once a month (more if you use your phone more), I will take an alcohol wipe, and clean off the fingerprint sensor.
Next, I have found that once in a while, my index finger on my left hand is REALLY hard to use, but the index finger on my right hand is very fluid and fast. I simply go into the finger print settings, delete the one that isn't working well, recalibrate it and everything is good. Only had to do that once.
I find the sensor pretty fast, even the smallest portion of the finger seems to be registered and the phone opens, hundreds time per day.
BUUUUT, when trying to answer I call I have to rub my whole finger several seconds until it actually answers, I end up with a ringing phone on my ear waiting for it to recognize me.
I had the same problem after updating. Had to reset from factory and fingerprint management was impossible. It would vibrate after every try then fail. Tried dozen times, then factory reset again, same problem. Finally got it to work by pressing my index very hard against the sensor while rotating it. Took a few tries but it worked. Once it was recorded it now works perfectly. Strange. Hope it helps someone

Haha
cuz you need to hold your finger on sensor a few sec in order to answer calls xD
to avoid mistakes
I rebranded my Mate 9, re-installed a factory image -- thank you FunkyDruid, and then the fingerprint menu settings disappeared. I would hate to format it if it's not gonna help.. Annoying though..
Hello everyone, I have a fairly new OnePlus 7 Pro (GM1910) and needed to root it for something. I was on the latest OxygenOS, 10.3 and rooted it after several attempts. However, I wasn't able to do what I needed on OxygenOS 10 so I downgraded to OxygenOS 9. Rooted again, did everything I needed and formatted the phone several times, installed OxygenOS 10.0.3.GM21AA. I also re-locked the bootloader.
The issue is that whenever I launch my stock camera app, it tries to load image from the camera but then crashes before showing anything from the camera. Camera works in Instagram, WhatsApp and some other apps just fine, as well as during face recognition. In addition, rotation sensor doesn't work at all. Auto-rotate on and off, it just doesn't work. Finally, the proximity sensor doesn't work either. It doesn't turn off the screen when I'm on a call and hold the phone near my face. It doesn't change screen brightness when it's on auto.
These all happened at once. I believe it all started around when I was first trying to root the phone with Magisk on OxygenOS 10.3. I used the phone on OxygenOS 9 with and without root, these 3 problems were also there. Now I'm on OxygenOS 10.0.3, unrooted, bootloader locked but problems still exist. It's driving me crazy having all these issues even after turning everything back to stock, factory settings. I spent 4 days on this whole process and ended up with these annoying problems...
I can provide any additional information you need. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Even if you can just direct me towards the right direction to identify why I'm having these problems.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Update: The camera app just started working after another factory reset. A little off topic but now I'm having another weird issue where the Android Setup doesn't see my last Google Drive backup but sees the older ones from a few days ago.
I think it would be useful to have a collection of all bugs of the android 10 update. From my point of view it is a disaster.
I noticed the following (after I factory reset it) :
Touch issues - touching the screen lightly does nothing. I have the actually tap it... This makes writing a pain, as hard to reach keys do not always register
Backlight auto adjustment issues - now it's very aggressive and basically stupid. I'm sitting in home, in the evening, almost without moving, definetly in the same spot and the backlight just jumps around in big increments
Lag and shutter in daily usage - a restart solves this for a couple of hours...
apps are now often reloaded - memory manager is too agresive and kills background apps
GPS NOT WORKING. It was flawless before update ?
build-in swiftKey keyboard does NOT remember how and where you type IF you change the keyboard layout /position (compact, split, side, etc...). This essentially makes it useless
A factory reset is not enough , try software repair using Sony companion
Im not having touch or GPS issues, but my phone is definitely slower and laggier since the upgrade to android 10. ALso my battery seems to be depleting faster. Is there any way to roll back to 9?

Wifi is often lost and quickly reconnects
fingerprint sensor isn´t as sensitive as it was before
battery drain is bigger than before
bluetooth pairing with tablet doesn´t work properly...being paired: YES, but no connection at all...tried three different tablets...bluetooth headphones work!
The camera application is crashing when I take photos.... :crying:
I really haven't faced any of those issues. The fingerprint is the only things that have become laggy, the phone is louder now when playing music, camera works great even with unlocked bootloader.
You should try to do a clean install with newflasher my phone is even rooted and works great.

Scratch that... I am experiencing all the issues from OP's post. It is especially severe when trying to use two apps at the same time in split screen.
Sony mobile engineers answer my bug report
Android Beam doesn't work (transferring files by touching two phones with NFC).
Nothing works on this phone any more!
I will never buy another Sony phone and surely I will advice others against buying such sh*t.
------------------
I contacted the Sony support in my country and they said "the download must have been corrupt" and I "should try to reinstall" via the Xperia companion (some kind of desktop app).
Mind boggling is the fact that this answer comes "directly from Sony engineers".
Now... I guess it is clear for everyone why they f*ucked this phone so bad. Their engineers think that a corrupt file can 1) be installed successfully 2) cause all these bugs...

Why factory reset is not enough?
If the corect procedure is to use that "companion", WHY they pushed the update via OTA?

The only brand who has this crappy issue is Sony ! Companion fills all the missing files or damaged files .. during the ota download and installation sometimes things go wrong
For everyone reading this thread: there is no such thing as instalation with corrupt or missing files.
All files in today's IT world are uniquely identified and double checked after download.
Their answear is only a way of not telling us that they f*cked up this + they think that we are stupid. Some of us might be fooled by this, but surely the majority won't be.
We have primarily the camera issue, a reboot resolves it temporarily.
Anyone managed to fix these issues with a fresh Sony companion install?
52.1.A.0.618 here. Fingerprint is slower and the battery drains faster while screen on. (Standby and deep sleep are both ok). Everything else is the same as Pie, at least for me.
Add me to list of unhappy xz2 compact owners. Phone is almost unusable since the update. More often than not the finger scanner only works when you press the power button first, it lags awfully in most apps, I get errors in apps I never did before, battery drain is about the same as previous. Overall this is my last Sony. Very very poor. Should add I did full companion restore and it made zero difference
I have to add my voice to this thread, short as it happily/sadly is. Since the update I've experienced a number of issues: Fingerprint scanner is less sensitive and sometimes doesn't work, the wake-up procedure is strange, in that the icons will appear before the background loads and even though I have security set to not show notification details on the lock screen, they'll reveal for a split second before waking up to the home screen, the camera is unreliable, the timer app doesn't reset or dismiss when appearing on the notification bar..
It's the first time I've ever emailed Sony Support on what was (and I hope still will be) my favourite ever phone. They of course just tell me to factory reset. Such a shame and I hope they fix it.

I'm having the same issue. Not sure what is wrong. I have not factory restored my phone. That is ridiculous
I also add the bug of Google Assistant in Stamina Mode:
I always keep It disabled when long press home button, but when Stamina Mode turns on, Google Assistant switches on again automatically although in settings shows that is off.
wow its been 2 years since I bought the XZ2C, had issues with the wifi and data so I went back to android 8.0, and use it for O2 priority only. Came back to see if android 10 fixed the problems. Disappointing.
I am not surprised at all that Sony still hasn't fixed any of the issues.
With today's New Update the the voicemail-Record-Volume Bug is fixed.
Finally. Too good to bei true.

there are still a lot of vital features that were bugged in android10 and i´m not sure they´ll be adressed in the near future.
Hi all,
I just got the OOS 13 update this evening, and I have an EU version of the Nord 2T. Hopefully all regions should get the update now!
Might as well do a discussion thread to see how people get on with it. Hopefully it's all good, it's been fine for me so far!
First bug on C.24 EU version that I see:
Sometimes the HOME button doesn't work, need to go in multi-task view then home button is back working.
Double tap on multi-task button sometimes doesn't switch to previus app.
After 3 days of use I would say that the battery life has not changed.
As on OxygenOS 12, NO call recording option here in Italy, but with THIS solution is partially working.
Where are you live? In Poland I don't have any update
Edit:
I have used the Oxygen Updated and I have a13
At the moment everything looks fine...
Sometimes the fingerprint scanner does not appear on the AOD.

Yes bug confirmed
I just installed this update (euro) and think it just made the phone so even worse than (wasnt fan of previous either). The settings are just less accesible, there is an imbalance in font / icon size options, bothering me with even more added 'smart'features. Does anyone know how to downgrade / rollback?

Maybe you should try do wipe?
For me everything works well, so I guess tahat it can resolve a lot of issues after update
I always do it after big update like this.
I appreciate the suggestion but I really want to do a rollback, because I really dont like the UI changes.
With second update C.26 bug always present:
Sometimes the HOME button doesn't work, need to go in multi-task view then home button is back working.
Double tap on multi-task button sometimes doesn't switch to previus app.
