Google play services won't stay hibernated ?

Is there any way to view the full path for cut off in greenify? Trying to figure out what keeps waking Google play services when all I've done is unlock my phone and open greenify.
There's also at times conflict between disable services and greenify. Play services show in greenify as running but when I go to disable services it often shows none are running.
I want to kill the path that keeps waking it for greenify but I want to research it first.
Literally all I use is the store at this point. YouTube too but through browser not the actual YouTube app. Chrome here and there but not often, been mostly using armor fly.
Does there exist a list which shows which services are needed for what functions? I can find other people's troubleshooting but no confirmed lists.
Also been wondering the same for everything in general, there are probably more apps I don't need but can never be sure.

What is the current method of disabling unwanted (google) background services?

I used the app "Disable Service" developed by "wangqi060934" to get rid of unwanted google background services in the past. Unfortunately this simple end effective app isn't available on the play store anymore.
Does anyone know the reason why its gone?
What is today's best way to take control over the android background services?
Some alternative app suggestion would be much appreciated.

many apps don't actually need Google play services to run properly. It's a huge battery hog, and since I only use the very occasional maps, and I check for app updates manually already anyway. I have it frozen with no ill effects for what I normally use, and enable when needed.
The only problem is that popup saying to enable them or the app won't run. I can disable notifications for Zedge and I don't care, but for something like my texting app, if I disable those ones I won't know about new messages either. The texting app itself, of course, runs just fine as well.
Please don't preach about how essential those services are, I know most users rely heavily on them. My situation is rare, I know that. Just looking to save battery without the hassle of those pretend warnings.

Maybe, instead of freezing Google Play Services, you can manage the individual services that it has running(I can't remember the name of the app used to disable in-app services) to disable the battery hogging services while leaving the rest of the services going. This might trick the system into detecting that Google Play Services is running(this might stop the error message), but the services that are running will use very little battery(depending on which services you disable).

Only issue with going that way is I've never found a comprehensive list as to what each service is needed for (for my needs mainly the play store, but also the occasional maps). Those are the only 2 things that truly don't run properly with all of those services stopped. With the apps I currently use that is. I know things could change, but for now at least...

How to stop Google from disabling already installed apps "for our protection"?

My Google Play Protect is turned OFF - yet Handcent Next SMS app was disabled from my phone as well as everyone else's recently. Why Google did it is a separate story [issue has apparently been resolved with a new version of app] - but let's talk about how Google does this?
I manually reinstall the old .apk which reactivates the app, but Google nukes it within 24 hours.
What can be done to stop Google from doing this?
If you feel that Google should do this 'for our protection,' I respect your opinion, but this thread isn't about that. What can be done in Settings to prevent / stop Google from disabling an already installed app on our phones? This is not about the Play Store. It's about already installed apps on our phones. Play Protect is OFF.
There are reasons people want older versions of apps - such as features no longer available on new versions of a given app.

Disable all Google apps that are set as System Administrator including Find my Device, etc.
Disable Google play Services when not needed.
If Google play Services in enabled on a reboot it will trigger that type of behavior.
This may or may not work on a non Samsung device. Google apks are drooling pigs... and only getting worse.

It sounds like the suggestion is to disable a plethora of apps and services that would have the end result of transfroming the phone into more or less a device that doesn't use anythig Google, even services that we actually may need..
Is there an app that could accomplish this, I mean all that's needed is to block disabling one single app.
I don't need to password protect usage or anything else - just prevent anything from disabling the app / removing it. Thank you.

I'm also very much bothered by it. Like, on my older phone google just outright disabled the font manager app, that was a system/vendor app. What risk would that app would pose, if it was risky it surely wouldn't be pre-installed! Moreover it was just a font manager!!!

The app may have been compromised. Scan the apk with online Virustotal.
Google on the other hand has long been compromised
Blocking Playstore with Karma Firewall will stop this behavior.

It isn't about if the app was compromised or not, it's just that google doesn't give us the choice. That's what iritates me. Just as @c627627 said, isn't it more like china or Russia? Dictating without our consent.

It's great. My one Note 10+ is still running on Pie. Karma's logging feature is fully active in that version. Even tags/time stamps each app that connects. That functionality was lost with Android 10☹ It still will block but it greatly reduces its use for fast troubleshooting.
One reason I still run Pie.

I would still scan that app to be on the safe side. I use ApkExport to make installable copies of all my apps and updates and take Playstore out of the loop. This protects those apps is case of bad upgrades or deletion from Playstore. Makes reloading much faster and no guessing/searching.

I have discovered [the hard way] how to successfully deal with this.
Fact: Turning OFF Google Play Protect does not turn OFF Google Play Protect. Google *will* scan and disable anything it wants using Play Protect, *regardless* of whether your Play Protect is ON or OFF.
Play Protect OFF button is there as an illusion that you have a choice, you do not. Your phone may have any app disabled any time by Google... for your protection of course. For our protection.
Now here's the correct way to do this:
Google Play Store > [upper right corner] Tap your name icon > Play Protect >
You will see your disabled app listed, with two options:
Uninstall
and
Enable app
The *only* correct way to re-enable it, is to TAP on Enable App here > Enable [to confirm.]
Doing anything else, such as uninstalling/reinstalling/manually installing an .apk file will only _temporarily_ work.
Google will disable it again, 24 hours or so later...
So you must follow exact procedure above to Enable App if you wish to continue to use it, after it has been flagged by Google Play Protect.
Being able to re-enable it is a big deal. You don't get to do that in China or Russia so tank you Google for giving us this choice.

Blocking Google Playstore with Karma Firewall will probably stop it.
I have some apps long gone from Playstore, it ignores them if it runs. I don't know... maybe time to scan those apps you have getting wacked off with Virustotal, again.
They may have been compromised.
I always keep backup installable copies of all my apps for reloads or in case something else goes south.

Thanks for this but, in my case, a certain app has parts of its features stop working and THEN play protect disables it all. If I enable it in play protect section then some features are missing, until I uninstall the app and reinstall. But then I face the same issue with play protect slowly dismantling my app and the finally disabling it.
I wondered, what if I enable it once I get the prompt in play protect section then just install the app again without uninstalling it. Would that work without play protect disabling it again?

Question Disable Google Play Services Alert in Phone App

Boost carrier Moto g Stylus 5G 2022 XT2215-4 with Android 12. Google Play Services App is DISABLED. I cannot completely disable the Google Play Services Availability alert option in the Phone App (SHOW NOTIFICATIONS locked). Other apps allow the user to disable the Google Play Services Availability alert. Is there a fix for the Phone App?

You can temporarily disable Google play Services. I normally do unless it's needed like for Gmail. Playstore, Backup Transport are also a dependencies of it. Pretty much a menace... even on Android 9

Change the default phone app and disable Google Dialer.

Thanks for your input. I disabled Google Play Services. Even removed it using ADB. Unfortunately, I cannot turn off the alert in the PHONE APP that's looking for Google Play Services (see attached screen shots). The radio button to disable the alert is greyed out.

2. Isn't Google dialer part of the phone app?
Phone app is fully functional. The issue is the alert message prompting the activation of Google Play Services. I can turn off this prompt with other apps, but not the phone app.

Yes. Since the notification cannot be disabled, it can become annoying after a while.
Google Dialer is currently your phone app and is set as default.
Install a 3rd party dialer app of your choice and set it as default. Now you'll be able to disable Google Dialer (or Phone) app from its app info page.

If you're fine without call recording feature, the above is an excellent and safe alternative.

Excellent! Will install the other option. I also have the 6 GB RAM version of this phone from Metro. Per app inspection, the other phone app is identical in revision number, but it doesn't have the Google Play Services Availability radio option.
If time permits, I may remove Phone App via ADB, then download the next Phone App apk. I don't know if Google Play Services Availability is hard coded into Boost's Android 12 build. Thank you very much for your input.

On Samsung's they use their own phone/messaging apps and Google play Services isn't mandatorily intergrated into them so they will run fine without it. You're going to have to play with it.
Completely removing Google play Services could cause headaches. It maybe possible to block the popup via a adb edit but no idea how or if possible on a non-rooted phone.
All Gookill apps are a pain and Google play Services is integrated into them to a greater or lesser extent. 3rd party phone app... maybe.

I suggest that you install the alternative app first, set it as default and test everything is working fine (although there is no reason why it wouldn't) before attempting to remove the stock dialer.

A whole lot of apps are dependent on Google Play Services. On one of my devices, I disabled it and soon after I got some 12 to 15 notifications from different apps asking me to enable it. The notifications were so frequent and annoying that I just re-enabled it for peace of mind. 🫣

Yeah, the dialer is part of the core function of a... phone.

Maps (not just Google Maps), SMS app, mail apps, taxi apps.... aren't trashware.

Will test drive the alternate phone app. I also saw a bunch of alerts, but I was able to kill them by going into each app and disable the Google Play Services alert radio button. The GPS's main function is probably to update the app. All the apps are fully functional without GPS running in the background.
Google's is in the business of data mining. That's why I want tight control of all Google apps whenever possible.

Updating is handled by Google Play Store.
Google Play Services offers a whole range of services that apps use, such as location, push notifications, etc.
If you are able to find apps that offer full functionality without depending on GPS, then you'll be fine disabling it.

Yeah, they are... sorry.
Gmaps runs fine without it. Less some of the junk features.
Driving a taxi sucks... people are trouble.

I use HERE drive. Download the map into your phone and turn ON location. Hopefully, I only need to use the SMS and Clock app. But I agree, a lot of useful stuffs are in the Google ecosystem. Chrome is significantly faster than Firefox per my setup. Edge was fast until it got bogged down with AI search. This is how they push you to upgrade the processor.
