Emui 9 big notification panel - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Greetings.
Ive updated my mate 9 to emui 9 a few days ago and i found that the swipe notification panel is very big rather than before and i made all the text and font on the smallest size and restarted the mobile with no hope.
Its really big that i cant see more than 3 notification specially if i swiped the whole list down.

If you have root, you can change display density from build.prop from vendor folder. I set 441, it is nice now.

Nope I've the original system. And it's weird as I've used some other mobile with android 9 (not mate9) and the icons were fine.

there is not a workaround to modify it without root this is fugly....

as i know there is a DPI setting in the developer mode

I've tried everything and even adjusted the DPI in the developer mode but nothing is changed in this notification panel … but everything else is getting small except the notification panel … i'm really frustrated.

You need to root and add qemu.sf.lcd_density=xxx to the vendor/build.prop if you want to shrink the systemUI.

Same here. The user interface looks really ugly now. The first thing I always do with my Mate 9 is to change the "Smallest width" in developer options to 520 db. Everything looks fine then except for the notification bar/panel and the navigation bar, which are muuuuch to big in comparison.
I much regret the update to Andoid 9 and even think about buying another phone. Root might be a solution, but what's about side effects like problems with banking apps etc?

Yes it's really annoying and wish that i can go back to android 8.

Same problem I think that this update is a beta version and it is not completed there are many problems like camera and music because I can t play music and open another application at the same time
I hope that Huawei post a new Updates for Mate 9

Since emui 9. I started to hate my phone. Because of this big notification panel. I guess ill be going back to xiaomi again. Much easier to have and customize. Jeeeez.

More shortcuts in slider menu in EMUI 4

Hi,
How the hell they mess this up in new EMUI 4.0 ? Now we only have 9 shortcuts. That's right, You can edit them and switch with others, but You cannot have all 17 of them in one time (like in old emui 3.1)
My question in, what kind of bulls**t is that? Can I somehow repair it?
The funny part is, everywhere on YT, they are pointing top 5 or top 10 most irrytating things in new emui 4 and there's no word about the little number of shortcuts? Are these people blind or something? How can You dont see such a con ?
its so sad, they removed it in emui4.0
even the settings icon is fixed

I have dev version now. Please tell me if in stable version (i don't remember):
When You click on "edit" You see more icons. Can You click on them to toggle on/off, or You have to slide them to main menu and then toggle them?

Repeating my comment from https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p9lite/help/emui-4-1-shortcuts-panel-how-to-add-t3427666. It's P7 but similar problem.
I had Notification bar shortcuts customizable in A4.4 with B623 and EMUI 3.1, a plenty of them.
After the upgrade to A5.1 with B852 but also EMUI 3.1 I'm disappointed to see only 9 shortcuts and no option to change it.
I wouldn't say it's EMUI because it's the same in my case. Looks like A5 problem with Huawei.

Question: banner call

Hi everyone, I have a simple question that bother me a bit. If I remember correctly, when I used for the first time this phone, I saw a black little banner at the top of the screen for an incoming call, like the ones for the notification s. Now, when I'm using it and I receive a call, there is no banner at the top (useful if I don't want to answer the call and keep doing my stuff), instead the call appear in the whole screen.
There is a way to add this banner for an incoming call?
Thank you in advance!

There is an option for the heads up notification under settings --> notification and control panel --> notification centre. From there you can modify different apps for the heads up notification, the lock screen notification and the status bar. I have this option for many apps such as what's app or Facebook, but there is no phone app. That's the main problem! And I remember at the beginning, when I had this phone for the first day, I could answer a call from this heads up notification. I also tried to turn all the listed apps on but without success.

I'm using the EMUI 5.0 beta, so it could be different. If it's not there try Settings -> Apps -> ... (at the bottom of the screen) -> Show system processes -> Dialer (scroll down the list to find it) -> Notifications. I remember that being the same in EMUI 4.1.

Ok, it's the same in EMUI 4.1. I find the process and, sadly, the notification "banner" is on.
I also discover when i'm watching a video on youtube or with the player video, the call actually appear in the pop-up notification, so maybe it work for every devices like that. Now i'm curious if it is the same for your phones. Do the pop-up notification appear only when you are watching a video and if u are doing different stuff it appear at full screen?
Unless the app that is sending the notification is the one running if you've got banners turned on you should see them.

Looking for a way to increase the Haptic Vibration strength/length

Hey,
I'm looking to increase the Haptic Vibration strength/length of the Honor 8 and have been at it for a few hours. If you anyone has any other ideas like Kernals, ROMs, Apps or Configs to modify please post your ideas any solution will do!
Thanks
i think gboard (preinstalled keyboard for me) has this setting build-in. so for typing letters u can adjust the length of vibration.
i use this. look screen.

Yeah gBoard does a great job letting you control vibration settings. But my main goal is to change the vibration intensity / length in ms of the navigation bar.
I'm pretty new to android but I was exploring root files and found sys/devices/virtual/timed_output/vibrator/ might be the right place to start looking into.
Maybe a current or an upcoming kernel will support vibration settings.
When I use kernel adiutor on my moto phone it has a setting to adjust the system vibration strength under misc menu
You can do it in the keyboard app (that's all I can think of)

App Notifications [APP] Change any notification sound for any app, EMUI 8.1

I'm sharing another Tasker made app with one simple purpose: get you into the hidden App Notifications menu so you can change notification sounds. As many of you know this menu is not accessible through system settings. There are many methods of accessing it, including Nova, Tasker, or other shortcut managers but they all require work and a bit of knowledge. This app makes it simple for anyone. Even advanced users may find it handy.
It does not require root or any special privilege. Simply launch the app to enter the App Notification menu. This accesses the built in Android notification management system and is simply the best way to manage your notification settings.
Please hit thanks if you find it useful ?
(Because of the nature of this workaround it will only work on the official EMUI 8.1 release for now. No custom ROM or beta support, sorry. Once I've updated to 9 I'll share the new fix if necessary. I have Canadian L04 model though and updates happen here slowly)
Not working for me (P20 Pro EMUI 9 Beta). App doesn't launch when tapped.

I don't have 9 yet but I'd assume you'll find it in settings under Notifications where it should be. AFAIK it was unintentionally left out in 8.1 which is why we had trouble. If it's included in 9 a simple search through settings should reward you. ?
Works perfect, thanks!

Apparently you do not understand what we're trying to accomplish. You cannot change notification sounds in the menu you refer to in EMUI 8, only turn them off. But there is a secret hidden menu that allows to change any notification sound for any app you like. It may look similar to the one you are thinking of but if you know what you're doing it is very different, there are far more options available. You cannot get to this menu by any other means than sending an intent, whether via command, a shortcut from a launcher or an app like I've shared. Trust me, there is a purpose for this or I wouldn't have so many thanks for it already. But if you're okay with having the same notification sound for every single app on your phone that's cool too. Whatever floats your boat. ?
We can use Nova Launcher to create a shortcut that link to this Notification settings in this thread.

You can use Nova Launcher to do this, yes. Other methods all involve installing a shortcut creation app of some kind and finding the correct settings entry. This app is for people who do not use Nova or would prefer a simple method with the hard work done for them. It's a pain digging through all those settings entries if you don't need to. ?

I'm sorry, but to change the sound for any app I go to config/applications/aplications/ choose the application I want then manage notification then sound and choose what I want... Using pie with a L29. I came from a custom pie rom on an oneplus 2 and, as i remember, I use to do it like that also... Did I missed something? Sorry about my English.
