Question: banner call - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone, I have a simple question that bother me a bit. If I remember correctly, when I used for the first time this phone, I saw a black little banner at the top of the screen for an incoming call, like the ones for the notification s. Now, when I'm using it and I receive a call, there is no banner at the top (useful if I don't want to answer the call and keep doing my stuff), instead the call appear in the whole screen.
There is a way to add this banner for an incoming call?
Thank you in advance!

Unfortunately yes. When I bought the phone I started to modiy different settings and now I can't put it back.
Probably is in the notification menu, notification settings and there I should find the phone app where I could activate the banner option, but there is no phone app..

i used EMUI 1 day only then i start playing roms lool !

There is an option for the heads up notification under settings --> notification and control panel --> notification centre. From there you can modify different apps for the heads up notification, the lock screen notification and the status bar. I have this option for many apps such as what's app or Facebook, but there is no phone app. That's the main problem! And I remember at the beginning, when I had this phone for the first day, I could answer a call from this heads up notification. I also tried to turn all the listed apps on but without success.

In my menu there is no such name. Can u send me a screenshot of that pls?

I'm using the EMUI 5.0 beta, so it could be different. If it's not there try Settings -> Apps -> ... (at the bottom of the screen) -> Show system processes -> Dialer (scroll down the list to find it) -> Notifications. I remember that being the same in EMUI 4.1.

Hi,
What evilpaul13 wrote should work for your version of EMUI also.

Ok, it's the same in EMUI 4.1. I find the process and, sadly, the notification "banner" is on.
I also discover when i'm watching a video on youtube or with the player video, the call actually appear in the pop-up notification, so maybe it work for every devices like that. Now i'm curious if it is the same for your phones. Do the pop-up notification appear only when you are watching a video and if u are doing different stuff it appear at full screen?

Unless the app that is sending the notification is the one running if you've got banners turned on you should see them.

paid version does not contain ads , and will get new features before free.
Hi, The app is working great but you should add a fingerprint swipe indicator and also even if I thinks that It's hard but It would be great if you add some feature like re-lock the apps just after the screen is locked so users don't have to swipe there finger every time when switching between apps, and some other feature.
Anyway thanks.
very interesting app...Just wondering:
1) can we choose which (specific) fingerprint to use? (assume we have a few registered)
2) can you make it compatible for Lollipop?
Thanks
Hiding notification content
Does this hide the content of an app in the notification area as well? My whatsapp shows the message contents in the notification area. If I lock my Whatsapp, would the notification message content be hidden?

1=no google do not allow do it , as it will be security risk
2=no , google introduced this API in 6.0 , before that everyone was using their own API.

I think you can Hide Specific App notifications if you long press on the notification and choose not to be notified. This will disable it system wide, so you will have to periodically check for new messages.
I am not sure but you may be able to find a launcher that allows Home Screen Icons message counters, where it displays a number of missed calls, new messages, new emails, etc. Whatsapp seems to be popular enough that I would think it would have support.

Got the paid version. Works really well. I do have a suggestion though. Would it be possible to have an app unlocked till the next time screen is locked atleast as a settings option. Would be more convenient to use that way.

If you have already put whatstup app in list that still work after screen turn off and have give all permissions and a notifications then you missed one more step...
Go to settings - app - and click the left button "more settings" or something like that... Go to the latest menu "ignore optimization and put what's app and any other app you want to take notifications "allow"
After that kill what's app from ram and try it...

just bought Mate 8 NXT-L29C185B103

Although I have been using android phones sinec many years( all types). but I am having difficulties to adopt to that one :
1-Not able to download any app from playstore .??? The progress bar keeps going from lefyto right but no progress at all for long times ...The WiFi signail is strong .
2- Not able to find the Arabic language on the device, not able to display the menus in Arabic like all Androis device I used before.
For Arabic menus open
Settings
Advanced Settings
Language & Region
B103 also sounds like it would be an incredibly old firmware, I'd suggest updating to NXT-L29C185B320 which has brought about fixes for quite a few bugs (most notably the delayed notifications issue) and added a few features.

I already upgraded to B180 via air as B320 is not avilable yet . How can I upgrade to B320 ? It is official ?
How to remove tha phone icon from the home display ?
I do not like the deafult phone app, and I already installed another one from the playstore. But I am not able to remove the icon of the default app !!!!!! Very weared .
I hope I will not have to live with it...
Best bet is to install custom rom or unofficial build. Be able to get latest and greatest for mate 8.
Still some annoying small issues that hasn't been fixed. Like the black on dark notification text.

I will have a look on this.
I have another problem and it may be related to this ROM, as I have never faced on any android pkone ever befor. I am using blue mail for my gmail account and maildroid for my business account which on a private server.
In all phones i used before, I was having a push notifications easily, but now and for the same 2 apps I have been using for years, the mail is not received unless I manually open the app.
Is not this starnge ?

The battery saving feature is preventing these apps from running on the background. Go to
Settings
----Apps
Then select the app that you want and in (Notification) select allow notifications and then go back to the previous menu and go to (Battery) and turn on the first two buttons if they are off
Power-intensive prompt
Keep running after screen off

Ok try this one.
Go to

If Bluemail is there then Choose (Menu) button
Put a tick next to (Auto-sync) data

Then choose the launcher that you want.

Display Notification icons [Settings] [No Root] [No App]

[Update]: Turns out this is a new feature in MIUI 10 8.10.18 global beta.
To enable go to settings->notifications->show incoming notifications
Please ignore the below.
-------------------------------------------------------------
This is my first post, please don't mind any amateur mistakes.
I was going through the settings and found that turning off MIUI optimisation in developer settings will enable notification icons getting displayed in clock region.
I have tested this in MIUI 10 8.10.18 beta version. It'll be good if few people can test this in stable version and post the results.
Procedure
1) Enable developer options by clicking MIUI version 7 times.
2) go to Additional settings->Developer options.
3) Scroll to the end and disable MIUI optimisation.
Optional
1) Disable notify about high risk features. This will turn off annoying notifications stating to enable MIUI Optimisation.
2) Set the display size to small for better looks.
Below are the screenshots of the settings and the notification icons getting displayed.
Please feel free to comment your opinions.
Cons:
Need to provide app permissions again for few apps.
Some of the UI won't look good (limited to app info and settings app) trade-off
Reserved
Already did it , but still show clock instead of notifications icons?
and also unable to remove high risk feature notification.

I have not done any modifications. Maybe something is wrong.
I'm on 8.10.18 and notifications are displayed normally inside clock region. I didn't fiddle around with any settings, just updated and set up my own region (Croatia), everything is working as it should finally.

Bro I assume you are using EMUI 9.1. The option is still there. We can still mark notifications as read or reply to them from notifications. The options are not visible if you are using any dark theme. And options are not visible but they are still present there. Just try tapping a bit below the notification and you will get the options.
I think the font is also black which is the reason it blends in with the theme hence we are not able to view the option.
Hope this helps. Please post a screenshot next time so we will be able to understand the problem easily

apps locked with applock can not show the content via notification bar until you unlock it first
and if we still want to view what about notifications or mark them as read we must remove these apps from applock
