Always-on Display and Noval Launcher mutually exclusive? - Android Apps and Games

Hi friends,
I recently got myself an LG G7 which has the Always-on Display feature with a dimmed clock and notifications.
A bit of research I did indicated that Nova Launcher is not suppose to overwrite somehow the always-on feature.
But I noticed on my device after making Nova Launcher my default home app the always-on has been deactivated.
Within the LG settings it is shown active. I tried to deactivate/reactivate it and also reboot the device but still the dimmed clock won't be shown.
Any hints on how I can bring it back keeping the Nova Launcher too?
Thank you in advance for any replies.

Cant seem to get a custom launcher to stick since I updated to Marshmellow

Anyone else have this problem or know of a fix? I can hit the Nova app icon and it will set it the launcher. However, as soon as I hit the home button it reverts back to default. Additionally when in Nova Settings, I tap the header that says tap to set Nova as default launcher, for a half second it acts like it is bringing up another screen momentarily but then stays on the main settings screen. It does the same thing when I scroll down to the Select Default Home where currently Huawei Home is set. I have tried other launchers additional to Nova including: Google Now, TSF, and Smart Launcher. I am currently running the latest update of Nova Launcher Prime 4.3.1, on a GEM-703L, running Android 6.0.
Thanks for any help.
Try this:
1. go to settings > apps>advanced>default app settings
That fixed it! Thank you so much!

Events & Ambient Display

So I have a daily recurring event set up to remind me to do something every day. In the morning when the notification pops up I always just dismiss it. What's weird is that on the ambient display, the event still shows until the event time has passed (8am). It shows even after I've dismissed the reminder. I have no idea why this is happening. Any thoughts?
I noticed this last night. I believe you can long press on the Date/Weather widget > preferences > uncheck the option(s). I just changed mine this morning so I can't confirm but I think that'll change it.
i'm not sure which widget you're referring to. i don't have any on my home screen.

It's the default date and weather widget on the default pixel launcher at the top of the home screen.

Correct, guessing you can access the setting somewhere else but that is the only place I am familiar with.
You can get to that sub menu from the main launcher settings too. And if you're using a 3rd party launcher, you'd have to temporarily change your launcher back to stock pixel launcher to get to those settings

App flicker using home gesture on Android Q (LG V50)

Issue:
With Android 10 gestures enabled and using a third-party (non-LG) home screen launcher, swiping up to go Home causes a flicker showing the app being closed at the end of the close animation.
Environment:
LG V50 Sprint Unlocked (LM-V450PM)
Microsoft Launcher
Detail:
This is a rather minor issue, I know, but after upgrading to Android Q yesterday, I was excited to finally use native gestures as previously I was using a third-party app (Fluid NG). Most animations are very smooth.
When using the default LG Home Screen, the swipe up to Home animation is nice and fluid. For example, closing an app which is on the Home screen has the app screen collapse and spring into the icon.
However I prefer using a more productive launcher--the animation seems to glitch momentarily before going to Home. The app screen collapses into the background, but then briefly flickers and shows the full app screen before showing the home screen. This happens on all apps, including Settings and from the launcher settings itself.
Reverting back to standard buttons (or gesture + buttons) does not have this problem.
Things I have tried which didn't work:
Rebooting
Disabling and uninstalling Fluid NG
Using a different, non-LG launcher (Microsoft, Nova)
Disabling Developer mode (have .5x on all animations)
Disabling all animations (window, transition, animator duration) within Developer mode
Swiping slower or at an angle (animation changes but behavior persists)
Anything else I could try, or is this problem inherent to LG's UX?

Clicking on widgets from a 3rd party launcher doesn't do anything

Haven't used Xiaomi for a couple of years, but this is a weird one. I use Nova Launcher (although other 3rd party launchers seem to behave the same) and the added widgets are not clickable. Have any of you encountered this and found a solution (besides changing the phone)?
LE: I managed to get it work in the end after setting "Other Permissions" -> Home screen shortcuts, Display pop-up windows while running in the background and Permanent Notifications are set to ON. Also MIUI optimization from Developer Options must pe set to ON.

Nova Launcher switches to One UI when i clear recent apps

Hi, I have a Samsung S10+ running Android 10 and One UI 2.5.
I am constantly getting an issue with Nova Launcher where if i clear my recent apps the screen refreshes and then One UI takes over and it goes to that home screen rather than Nova. If i then press the Home button again it then takes me back to Nova's home screen again and does stay there until i clear my recent apps again.
Nova is definitely set to the default launcher and when this happens i go into the Nova settings and it shows no launcher is set as default, i then set it as default but the same thing keeps happening each time.
I have tried clearing the cache from both Nova and One UI but this didn't fix anything.
Is this a know issue? It has happened for a while but wasn't that annoying but since a recent android update it seems to be happening all the time now.
Does anyone know if i can fix this?
Thanks
James

Yes , it's because since Android 10, the nav bar and recent UI are managed by your default launcher. That's really infuriating I know. But if you root your device with magisk, there is a module called QuickSwitch that allows you to set a third-party launcher as the nav bar UI provider.
Hope that helps
