Hi, I have a Samsung S10+ running Android 10 and One UI 2.5.
I am constantly getting an issue with Nova Launcher where if i clear my recent apps the screen refreshes and then One UI takes over and it goes to that home screen rather than Nova. If i then press the Home button again it then takes me back to Nova's home screen again and does stay there until i clear my recent apps again.
Nova is definitely set to the default launcher and when this happens i go into the Nova settings and it shows no launcher is set as default, i then set it as default but the same thing keeps happening each time.
I have tried clearing the cache from both Nova and One UI but this didn't fix anything.
Is this a know issue? It has happened for a while but wasn't that annoying but since a recent android update it seems to be happening all the time now.
Does anyone know if i can fix this?
Thanks
James

Yes , it's because since Android 10, the nav bar and recent UI are managed by your default launcher. That's really infuriating I know. But if you root your device with magisk, there is a module called QuickSwitch that allows you to set a third-party launcher as the nav bar UI provider.
Hope that helps

Hi,
Just got HTC One X today and immediately updated to JB. After installing my apps and setting it up, I noticed that certain widgets would disappear from my home screen (Nova Launcher) and from lock screen (WidgetLocker). Only certain widgets - Battery Widget Reborn, Power Toggles, Smooth Calendar. After a reboot, they show up as grey boxes and I would have to tap and setup the widget again. Also noticed that SwiftKey would no longer be set as default keyboard and I would have to disable/re-enable to be able to choose it again.
Messed around and it's the same behavior with the stock launcher but with that, they the widgets just disappear altogether.
I did a system erase and pretty much nothing installed, same behavior. I've played with every setting to see if that had an effect but no different.
Has anyone encountered this or have any ideas on what's going on?
Thanks in advance.
Jeff
Self explanatory.
If I've missed a call, it shows on my AoD (which is good). But even when I clear the notification and/or go to my call log and clear the counter within the launcher itself, it still shows on the AoD. Only a system restart seems to clear it.
Everything is stock on my S7.

Didn't have that problem myself but mine just doesn't work at all. Could yours have something to do with the dialer?

Quite possible, but not sure how. I use Nova Launcher and everything else is stock.

For what it's worth I'm also using Nova launcher and seeing the same issue on a new GS7.
Drives me nuts!
Doesn't it go away after going on your call logs area, or does it require a reboot?
I cant remember what I did

I've had the same issue using Nova Launcher with a Galaxy S7 Edge. It turns out it's just a conflict between the launcher and TouchWiz itself, if you go to Settings > Applications > Default Applications > Home and change it from Nova back to TouchWiz, give it a chance to load up and everything, tap on the dialler to clear the little number that appears over the icon, wait for that number to disappear then make Nova your default home launcher again and hey presto the little notification on the always-on display will be gone.

Thank you also had the same issue with my Galaxy S7 Edge with Nova Launcher ( Paid Version ). Worked exactly like you said
- Go to Settings -> Applications -> Default
- There select HOME and change it from Nova Launcher to TouchWiz.
- Check your default caller app ( that green one that comes with samsung ), delete all logs for safety
- Go back to Home as described above and change back to Nova Launcher
Thanks for Asauz!!! was driving me nuts this issue
Anyone else have this problem or know of a fix? I can hit the Nova app icon and it will set it the launcher. However, as soon as I hit the home button it reverts back to default. Additionally when in Nova Settings, I tap the header that says tap to set Nova as default launcher, for a half second it acts like it is bringing up another screen momentarily but then stays on the main settings screen. It does the same thing when I scroll down to the Select Default Home where currently Huawei Home is set. I have tried other launchers additional to Nova including: Google Now, TSF, and Smart Launcher. I am currently running the latest update of Nova Launcher Prime 4.3.1, on a GEM-703L, running Android 6.0.
Thanks for any help.
Try this:
1. go to settings > apps>advanced>default app settings
That fixed it! Thank you so much!
Is it just me or does the system randomly reverts the nav gestures back to a nav bar with the back, home, and recents button and then I have to go back and manually change em
Edit: this happens on the Open beta 1 for Android 10

Hi,
it looks like the system is looking for gestures from your 3rd party launcher, but it could not find them and so resets to stock. I fixed by making Nova Launcher (is what I use) a system app (priv-app) with App Systemizer through magisk. Hope I helped you !
Hello Dadda98,
Can you please explain step by step this process: " fixed by making Nova Launcher (is what I use) a system app (priv-app) with App Systemizer through magisk."
I'm using Nova Launcher too and got same problem.
Yesterday, OB2 rolled out and the problem was fixed. Im with Nova and Oxygen gestures, and run smooth like butter.
I have it. It's annoying
Anyone else experiencing this issue? If I close an app down and go to select another app to quickly the device will open up the last recent app, I have to wait a few seconds between closing one app and going to the second. It's really annoying. Anyone else having a similar issue? I'm using Nova launcher as my default launcher and I've doubled checked I have no gesture enabled.
Swap to Samsung default launcher and see if you can replicate. I also use Nova and no such issue
I'm using Microsoft Launcher and I am not experiencing that issue. Was Nova Launcher recently updated? Try clearing cache for Nova Launcher and reboot your phone.
I can confirm that I have the same issue on my snapdragon S22 Ultra.
Change navigation gestures from bottom or to buttons and it will be fixed, it looks like a launcher issue(any custom launcher, tried nova, lawnchair, pixel....)
Yeah it was clearly a custom launcher issue, cleared data and it didn't help. I couldn't replicate the same issue with the default launcher but Samsung couldn't pay me to use that launcher... Used vluboshs solution by switching from gestures to navbar and back to gestures and disabled gesture hints and it seems like it's solved it.
