[LM-G710V] The LG G7 ThinQ Retail Mode/Demo Mode Thread - LG G7 ThinQ Guides, News, & Discussion

Got an LG G7 retail mode phone today for an okay price, and I decided to make this thread so others with the same device can discuss. This is for everyone who bought their device legitimately. Retail Mode devices are sometimes gifted to employees or sold when stores shut down, which is perfectly fine AFAIK. Sometimes Retail Mode passwords are out in the open (just Google "LG G6 retail mode" and you'll come across a Sprint manual with passwords).
Before you buy
Retail mode phones never come with IMEIs. There's no modem in them! Or if there is, it's overwritten with something else. You cannot use them as cellular devices--no calls, texts, or data via SIM cards. Only WiFi (e.g. WhatsApp, Viber). They're basically just iPod Touches.
Retail mode devices often have burnt-in screens. Before you buy check with the seller or thoroughly inspect first on a white background. Don't just choose any white background, but one in an app, like in Settings or Notes. Slide the brightness all the way up and down.
Retail mode devices always revert back to retail live displays every few minutes or so. You can extend the time it takes to come on and schedule it to only show at certain times of day , but never stop it completely unless you're able to remove the Retail Mode app and its Device/Phone Administrator.
Different stores set different passwords for the Retail Mode app vs. the Settings app. This was the case with my G710V. If you don't have the main password for the device, then you won't even be able to turn off the phone! Thankfully the main password for the LG G7 is the same as it was for the G6. For now...
You will be entering passwords all the darn time just to get around the Settings app. Be prepared!
No, disabling Demo Mode in Developer Options won't do anything. You'll quickly see that it's already disabled. The Retail Mode app is completely different from Android's native Demo Mode.
No way to access the recovery(?). Haven't tested this yet though. I was able to get USB Debugging on and I did manage to connect the phone with platform-tools, but predictably, I wasn't able to uninstall Retail Mode via ADB due to the Device Administrators policy >
Code:
[DELETE_FAILED_DEVICE_POLICY_MANAGER]
On my G7V10, System uses a whopping 52GB of storage... yeesh. Only 9.68GB available to user!! You'll need root to gain access to System files, which we don't have. No wonder people who flash other ROMs on this variant are getting weird storage amounts.
Speaking of the Device/Phone Administrator, no G710V can access the Administrators page. You'll always get this error:
You are not authorized to perform this action. Check with the device administrator for details.
Click to collapse
...which means that even if you do have all the Retail Mode passwords you need for the G710V, you cannot uninstall Retail Mode. You can delay the live display for up to 10 minutes, and that's it. Your phone will always go to that display no matter what.
That aside, what can you do with a Retail Mode device?
Retail Mode devices, despite the annoying live display, can be used as gaming and media consumption devices. The phone won't revert to the live display while you're using it, but leave it idle for a few seconds to minutes and it may.
You can take pictures, videos, listen to music, etc. with Retail Mode... but your music playback may be disturbed by the stupid live display. Can't leave the thing idle for too long. :/
You can add your accounts provided you have the Settings app password, and if you have the Retail Mode password (once again, it can vary by phone), you can set it to never delete/erase your account data from the phone.
Most G710Vs come with unlocked bootloaders--Developer Options has my OEM Unlock option grayed out, saying my bootloader is unlocked. Hooray? But it's not like I can access the recovery.
You can disable apps via Settings, but you can't uninstall anything due to the Device Administrators policy.
Now, I may very well be wrong about a number of these things, so feel free to correct me and I will make the necessary corrections to this page.
Here are the Retail Mode passwords for the LM-G710V model of the G7 ThinQ. This is a demo unit that cannot be used for cellular connectivity, as mentioned above. It lacks a cellular modem.

I was able to connect the phone via ADB after a lot of tries, as mentioned above, but I can't uninstall any apps. Here's a list of all the apps that come pre-installed on the LM-G710V here in Canada:

I think I found a way to stop the live display for good!!
Connect your G710V to your computer. Access its directory. Delete all the media files in Movies, Music, etc. You'll also see a .retailmode folder in there but there's not much you can do with it, unfortunately.
With those media files deleted, every time your G7 switches to the Live Display you'll stay on a black screen! Huzzah!
How to turn USB Debugging on
This isn't very easy because the option won't be retained every time you restart or power off the phone. You have to play around with it a bit. First start the adb shell via platform-tools on your computer and then quickly press "OK" whenever the USB Debugging dialogue comes up. Do this a couple of times and eventually the setting will stick (unfortunately your debugging authorizations won't).
I did manage to reboot to the recovery (there's no recovery here, just an Android lying down with a red exclamation mark above it) and the bootloader/fastboot mode (normal G7 bootloader). It's totally possible to flash files, but I've read through all the LG G7 Retail Mode threads out there and it doesn't look like anyone has gotten ROMs and other kdzs to work properly with this model. There's always a storage issue (16-32GB showing instead of 64GB) or a WiFi issues (it doesn't work).
To exit recovery mode (AKA the dead Android), press volume up and the power button. Eventually your phone will turn off.
Warning! Your G710V may not be able to connect to 5Ghz networks. I don't know why, but mine won't recognize any of the 5Ghz networks in my household, only 2.4Ghz, while super old devices can. I don't know if this is because it's lacking certain modem features, or if it's a weird LG thing. There's also an LG G6 in my home and it has no issues connecting to 5Ghz.
I've heard that sometimes, Retail Mode can be erased via a factory reset, but I think the Retail Mode app is baked into the G710V's ROM. :/ That isn't the case for the Retail Mode LG G6... I might end up factory resetting my G7 from the Retail Mode app. I hope that doesn't change the passwords on me.

I think it's possible to flash an European firmware and get rid from some of the limitations.

Maybe, but it's not worth it. I don't know if the firmware is compatible and whether or not it'll mess up the internal storage and WiFi. I've read a couple of people's experiences with the G710V here on XDA and they're all running into problems when they flash different ROMs on this device.

With not be able to use as cell phone, and having that annoying display.. Was it really worth the purchase.

Now that I've seen the available storage to the user... no, no it wasn't. lol Best for people to receive these for free.

Sad, that these phone are so locked down.. Hell this might be the last phone purchase I ever buy. Unless I can actually find one that can be unlocked/rooted, and can be used on my carrier might change my mind.

True. These LGs are being discounted by a lot of carriers in my area. They're not a bad buy at all. I actually rather like the G7, shame the demo unit has so little free space available to the user. You can install a ROM on even the demo units and get some space back, but not all of it. I guess LG learned from the super easy to remove demo mode on the G6. On the G7 One (a Canadian Android One variant of the G7), removing retail mode is super easy. It uses the same passwords as the G6 and there's an uninstall button! Which is sadly missing from the G7 units.

Maybe its possible to bootloader unlock. Since it doesn't have IMEI you can unlock it without a code or with empty code (maybe).

The bootloader is already unlocked (OEM unlock toggle is grayed out and says bootloader is already unlocked) and I was able to flash the vendor image from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/development/rom-phh-aosp-8-1-t3808649
But I can't do the rest of the instructions. Really want to get another ROM on this thing lol
Tried flashing with LGUP, says it wrong model, can't cross flash. Then I tried modifying LGUP and putting Korean 9.0 on it and still got the same error. That method is supposed to work for ALL G7s so I don't know what happened there.
I am receiving updates on the phone too. Security patches only. I went from V10k to V10m.

EDIT: I should mention that I did try that Korean Pie method... the one listed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJ4w7G8zl7s
I tried it multiple times but I always get the cross-flash error listed here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/help/lm-g710v-to-stock-t3886173
AKA "LGUP Error! cant cross flash G710V to G710N". Gets stuck at 4% and then the error comes on. Same thing happens with unmodified LGUP.
Sure! Typing this from the phone in question right now, lmao. I'm willing to risk a brick as Retail Mode is super annoying. Right now the software version is LG710V10t. I wish I got it on 10b (it was 10k originally)
Luckily I'm able to charge this thing to 100% even in Retail Mode, but I think I have to shut it off to charge it fully. It charges extremely slowly from the ROM itself.
I managed to bypass the storage issue by popping an SD card in and I was able to enable it as adoptable storage. Now every app and file I download is sent to the external card, and I also have Force apps on external enabled.
There's also a way to set a password lock on the phone via ADM. You can't access the Security setting otherwise (blocked by Device admin) so it's pretty useful. For some reason, the demo unit can be located without issue via ADM. So now it's linked to my Google account and I can remotely erase it and such. Remotely erase it back to the Retail Mode ROM
Finally, deleting the Preload folder in the internal storage stops the live display, but the folder populates on boot. No way to get rid of it completely. There's a black screen where the display should be and the screen returns to the level of brightness you set in the Retail Mode app when you unlock the phone.

There's a new method that will skip the verification method and it's much more easier. If that something doesn't work it's still possible to flash AOSP through fastboot

I see. Can you link me to the Discord, in that case? I've never used it before, lol.
EDIT: So I redid (modified) LGUP twice. I managed to flash both the Korean 9.0 kdz and the European 8.0 kdz successfully, but the WiFi drivers are messed up (this thing doesn't have a modem), so I can't connect to Internet. Which means I can't get past the startup screen as it doesn't let me skip the Internet connection part. And because this thing doesn't have a modem, I can't use mobile data with it either.
And I can't access fastboot on either kdz because I don't have OEM unlock enabled... because I can't get into the system. Great.

Are you able to execute *#546368#*710# in the dialer there seems to be a factory reset option in there I'm not sure what it does specifically as I don't feel like factory resetting my phone its in SVC test and says R&D only. Not sure if it would help

That’s a great idea but of course... the emergency dialer doesn’t let you put in any codes! It’s supposed to take you to the menu immediately after the last number sign but the emergency dialer treats it like an actual number.

Yup did that here as well...

Welp, party's over. I am now in soft brick state. Can't get past that WiFi screen, so I'm screwed, unless someone is magically able to create a .kdz that removes the set-up screen (or at least lets me skip WiFi) and get straight to the phone. It was fun while it lasted. I tried 3 different .kdzs, including European 10b. No fastboot for any of them. Now I'm pretty sure the only way to fix this thing is to somehow get the original ROM back. I bet it's still on the phone itself somewhere. The phone still remembers my secure boot up code that I set via ADM. Wonder what would happen if I entered the wrong code 30 times? But I can't get to that screen anymore. It only appears the first time I flash a .kdz, and only by chance.
I'm surprised the phone didn't hard brick and go straight to 9008 mode.
EDIT: So I was screwing around on the first screen, and I ended up tapping the screen 7 times, which took me to QR code setup. Pretty cool. But of course, you need to be connected to the Internet to do it. Sigh...

Bypass Gmail sign-in, Bypass passwords, Bypass screen lock drawing!!!!!

I read this over at tmonews...
"While playing with my G today, I found a way to enter "safe mode" which will bypass the initial gmail signin and allow you to straight to the good stuff with out activating via google. You can also bypass the security drawing pattern.
1. Power off your device
2. While device is powering back on press and hold the "menu" key, keep holding it past the G1 and android splash screen.
Phone will boot all the way to the main screen and display "safe mode" in lower left corner.
I have confirmed that data is still fully operational and all of my downloaded programs."
Very interesting

How about a ROM DUMP?
I think there's already a thread or two about that.
im sorry to say this but the safe mode does not allow to bypass the initial activation screen but it sure does bypass the security screen

Correct I already posted about this. You still have to activate service with Tmobile and Google. Safe mode on the phone is just like on a regular computer help you fix issues.

I was smart enough to download that converter program floating around before reading about it and I get non stop errors on the home screen.. but for w/e reason running the phone in safe mode does not let the program load so I get no errors now but I can't unintsall it from the applications uninstall from settings.. it gives me an error when iit treys to compute the program sizes so I I can not run the phone when not in safe mode.. would be awesome if someone could help me here
try connecting it to the computer in debug mode and uninstall using adb
i have been google searching for two hours and i have yet to find how to put commands into the g1 i got the drivers and everything and its recoginzed by my comp but i dont know where i type adb shell uninstall or w/e can you direct me in the right direction?
you need to download the SDK from google. You should see some threads with the SDK or the Emulater... it is all the same. adb is in the tools thread. Ohh and you need to enter "adb -d uninstall (name of apk)"

[HELP] Cannot factory reset a Kyocera Hydro Wave (C6740N) on Metro PCS

Greetings to all the developers and registered users on this site... Yes, this is my first post, but I read here pretty often and I used the search function, trust me! Seriously, I've tried all I could and I am at my wits end, but this is technology, we can't let it own us, we gotta continue owning it and that's what online communities like xda help us do, so thanks for all your past, present, and future contributions here. So I got this Metro PCS Kyocera Hydro Wave (C6740N) that I can't factory reset for a number of reasons, but mainly because I believe that there is either no boot-loader or no recovery partition as a result of Metro PCS flashing the ROM...
Anyway, lets get to the juice:
- Device powers on/off, but no combo of Vol -/+ and Power buttons bring up a recovery menu or anything (holding any combo down just boot-loops)
- Device has no SIM and no micro SD card, and the battery is not removable
- Device is locked... Like, pattern-locked/google account info/too many attempts/yada yada yada
- Device has no data and no WiFi connection active, so I could not use the google account to get past the lockscreen
- Device does not have USB debugging enabled/Google drivers for ADB do not work (Windows 7 auto-detects when I plug in the phone and installs a generic Microsoft driver which cannot be removed even after uninstalling the device, and also I pointed the Device Manager to the correct Google drivers I installed with the Android SDK Tools, as well as the Samsung Naked Universal Drivers I found on this forum, and Kyocera ADB drivers I found through Google which all failed, Windows returned a message stating that the most up-to-date or best driver for this device is already installed)
What I've tried (everything possible really):
- Hard reset/Recovery from phone: FAILED
- Connect to Linux and install ADB, then tried running the adb shell, adb devices, fastboot devices, etc but phone not detected: FAILED
- Connect to Windows 7 and install ADB (Android SDK Tools), I literally checked every single box and installed Platform-tools, google drivers, everything, got to the command prompt as admin, cd to the ADB directory, ran same commands as in linux, also tried commands on several forums and posts like adb shell rm /data/system/gesture.key to remove the lock but everything: FAILED
- Connect to Windows 7 and attempt to install proper drivers using RootGenius, MoboRobo, PDAnet, and several other suggestions which all were oblivious/unable to detect the device despite Windows recognizing it, so they all: FAILED
- Connect to Windows 7 and attempt running ADB through a Cygwin terminal, but the command "sudo" was not recognized/not valid, so: FAILED
- Connect to Windows 7 and use XRYViewer to extract data from the phone, possibly to see the system files and get an actual understanding of what everybody is saying you need to mount from the recovery partition, but no clue how to use this, since I can't find an XRY file in the internal storage, so: FAILED
- Connect to Windows 7 and access data/recover data from device using "Wondershare Dr.Fone for Android" and "iLike Android Data Recovery Pro" but both programs instructed me to enable USB Debugging, which is not possible, so the both also: FAILED
Despite this being my first post, I have scoured the forums here in addition to every other forum and webpage regarding this issue as well... There just isn't much about this phone except negative reviews, and I have come to the conclusion that on this particular model phone, I am out of options... I have a paperweight... I'm not very familiar with Android... So please correct me if I'm wrong...
Any input?
I'm curious if there are any options at this point, I have been trying to get through to this phone on several computers for the past couple days and it is frustrating me... Any input from the community would be much appreciated...

may be this:
*2767*3855# - Think before you give this code. This code is used for factory format. It'll remove all files and settings including the internal memory storage. It'll also reinstall the phone firmware.
I found code in internet, but may be it works? can't check, my "wave" comes to me from USA by post for a few weeks..

let me work on this, been trying to master as many FRP bypasses as i can. I don't have the device but a client is in the same boat
I accidentally stumbled upon a something weird. I've managed to make the camera crash to the home screen somehow. I believe this was a result of holding both volume buttons and opening numerous menus while using the camera. My guess is that it overloads it after a certain amount of times and causes it to crash. I've gotten the android UI to crash like this before. I will try to recreate the scenario and update you guys on this. it's on a Kyocera Hydro Wave. Running android 5.0 I believe. Try going wild until the phone starts to lag. eventually stuff will crash and the lock screen may go with it. use this to your advantage and enable USB debugging as quickly as possible because it will reset itself after about 30 seconds. Someone else on YouTube has recently told me that it worked for them. I would look into doing that.

Is there anything a little more realistic possible? Lol, I can see an update available, can't connect to WiFi to update haha. The stuff they lock these phones with anymore i swear
I'm new to this forum, but NOT new to this site . I have visited here on numerous occasions seeking the help that needed . With that being said, I would like to offer a Bonafide, Tried and True way to factory reset the Kyocera Hydrowave . I KNOW that this work's for I have done in on numerous occasions for a friend of mine that works for Metro PCS ....
Step One: Completely power off the phone .
Step Two: Hold the Power AND Volume DOWN Buttons SIMULTANEOUSLY .
Step Three: DO NOT release any buttons, even when you get to the Boot Menu . (Very Important, If you don't do it right, you have to start all over lol ) .
Step Four: Once inside the Boot Menu, ONLY release the Power Button; or the Boot Menu will close and you have to start all over again .
Step Five: Use the Volume Down Button to Highlight the Wipe/Factory Reset Option .
Step Six: Use the Power Button to Select the option .
Step Seven: Watch the bottom of the screen for the progress, and then use the Volume Up Button to restart .
And there you have it . I hope that this helps out SOMEONE out there, because I feel good giving back for the help that I have received on here .
PS.( If you would like for me to post a Video Tutorial on this, can someone please tell me how to post the Video; I guess by me being a Newbie on here, I'm not allowed to do as of yet ) . If Anyone needs to contact me, as I'm not on here very often, my email is [email protected] .

As unrealistic as it may sound it actually works Trust me on this. its similar to the LG attack which... is nothing but entering a long password.
betanews.com/2015/09/16/bypass-the-android-lollipop-lockscreen-by-entering-a-really-long-password
Just give it a go. it already worked for one dude on youtube. it takes a while but it honestly works. If you can get it, update the phone as soon as possible turn the screen timeout off and let it update. when the phone resets the update will install and you will be able to factory reset.
I mean it couldn't hurt. if you're locked out with no factory reset and ADB tools won't work what else can you do?

1 week old Mate 9 bricked?

So after performing a factory reset on the device it booted normally the 1st time and asked me for my PIN (??). It accepted my usual PIN (!) and took me to a clean slate (all Play Store apps gone) BUT the wallpaper was still the same, my username was still there and the other user profile was also still there. What was missing was a keyboard so there was nothing I could do with the device.
OK no problem, lets perform another factory reset. So once again I hold volume up & the power button, select reset to factory settings, reboot... and this time it boots to a black screen with only the android navigation bar at the bottom and the words emergency mode on the bottom left.
Any ideas on what to do now, short of sending it back to the store?
This is a brand new unit, running EMUI 5 from the box, bought from an authorised dealer. It was not rooted or tampered with in any way or form.
I've seen those symptoms and I had to perform an erecovery. If you have the Chinese version you can do that if you have the international version I think erecovery isn't working just yet.
Sent from my MHA-L29 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I have a MHA-L29 bought in Europe. I assume erecovery is the mode enabled by pushing volume up, volume down & power button at the same time? At that point I would need the full OS in a microSD inside the device, correct? Apologies, I'm not well versed in Android...
Huawei's website offers very little help . All one can find is a link to the 'quick start manual', a link to EMUI's source code (Mate 9 is absent), a mobile wifi inspection tool, and HiSuite. I'm assuming HiSuite is of no help in this case?
Have I run out of options here? Is my next step returning the device to the shop?

The easiest choice for you is returning the device to the shop, but it can definitely be fixed.
Huawei made some very stupid decisions with the Mate 9. You cannot flash firmware from SD card anymore. You have to use eRecovery (boot the phone plugged into a computer holding the volume up key) to recover. However, this eRecovery has not launched for the european model, so you can't restore.
I might be able to help you using my DNS server because I have reverse-engineered a lot of how the Mate 9 works, but I don't have a European model to test with. If it's easy for you to return it to the store, that's probably the best option.
I've contact Huawei support and they'll be picking up the device by courier. They expect to have it returned in 5 days max. I did test the eRecovery mode that you've described and indeed it fails to gather the needed files ("Getting package info failed").
I appreciate you input, what would your method involve? I've seen firmware (B122) floating around the web, how are people flashing it if the SD card method isn't working for this unit? Having said that I wouldn't personally attempt anything that could possibly void the warranty.

when you make a factory reset in recovery on first boot you see lost the google service and also the keyboard (i know well i have done it two time in 4 days cause bootloop) how got the google service back? simply download from apkmirror a google keyboard (you need it for next step) and install it then go to settings/advanced settings and make a factory reset(need a pin in my case that why have installed a keyboard) when the device boot again you have the google service again
I see, thank you. I'll keep that in mind next time I reset the device. :good:
I then ask, if I do reset the device to factory settings and it craps out again, how would one know if eRecovery is able to recover European models? As of 3 days ago this option would throw a 'Getting package info failed' error. Short of trying it myself when I get my device back, has anything changed in the meanwhile? Is eRecovery working now?
hi mate, I only know what I've tried: eRecovery delete google service, eRecovery not erase password.factory reset from settings does reappear google services .... likely these problems are software bugs or are linked to nougat that has different partitions than to the past....sorry for now thats it

So I just got my phone back from the service center and the first impressions were not good. Before returning the phone they called me to ask for my Google username and password (!!) to make sure the device was successfully recovered. I obviously refused and just told them to kindly return the device and I would test it myself.
Well the package arrived today and is missing the SIM ejector and the IMEI back sticker. Not only that but it now refuses to install the Amazon Shopping app and Google PhotoScan app because "this app is incompatible with your device". How can this be if I had these two apps installed before??
I also noticed that the device claims to be an "Orange MHA-L29"... have these guys just flashed it with a firmware meant for Mate 9s sold through Orange?

mmmm too bad mate, your M9 is no brand? Orange is a carrier ....my opinion is ask why this change and ask for phone replacement
Yep, unbranded bought from an authorised dealer.
I am now going to escalate it and try to have this unit rejected and exchanged for a brand new one. I sure hope they don't propose replacing it with a refurbished unit, after all we're talking about a €700 device here and it has spent more time in the service center than in my hands. Very frustrating.
And this whole "no way to use eRecovery yet" and "no way to flash it from MicroSD" is just the last nail in the coffin... I mean what were they thinking? Even Apple devices allow me pick up the corresponding firmware and flash it at home from day 0. I hear the P9 Plus is less restrictive, maybe I should have gone for one of those instead?
I've got a real lemon here... let's see how they handle my case, I'll keep you all updated.

Cant seem to bypass FRP on Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge no matter what I try

I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge from a guy off ebay with smashed the screen for a cheap price and recently took it to my local Official Samsung repair shop who repaired it for a reasonable price. I turned the phone on and it had all of the other guys personal stuff on the phone and he had a screen lock on there that I didn't know how to unlock so I did a factory reset in recovery without realising about FRP. When the phone rebooted I get the google screen asking me for the original google account credentials. I have tried contacting him and getting no joy. I have tried all of the methods in youtube but as the phone has the December 2016 security update none of them seem to work. When I plug the phone into my PC windows just says the USB device has malfunctioned and does not connect. I have installed the full Samsung USB drivers but the PC still doesn't recognise it. Could the fact it is not recognised be due to the google frp or could it be to do with the fact the phone could still be damaged from when it was dropped. Im not fussed about the USB port in normal use but it appears the only method to bypass the FRP is via the USB and using one of those methods. Can anyone help please?
I had the same problem and from my understanding all the methods are blocked now I'm trying to find out if theres a way that i just havent figured out yet i've book marked your question and will keep checking back to see if you have had any help
I know it is a tricky subject as I could be in possession of a stolen phone in which case I am rightly being locked out of it but I have the receipt to prove I have purchased it which I am willing to show to anybody who might know a way around it.
Have you tried putting it in download mode then using emergency recovery on Smart Switch?
Yes tried that earlier. Smart Switch doesn't recognise it. Just stays on the screen telling me to connect the phone even though I already have. When I plug the phone into the laptop it says the USB device (my phone) has malfunctioned and Windows doesn't recognise it. I have tried ODIN and that doesn't recognise the phone either as it isn't being given a COM number by Windows. Guess I will have to take it back to the Samsung Support Centre as I paid them to get the phone working and he said the price quoted was to get it fully working. If the USB isn't working then they can repair it!

I've just unlocked a S5 Neo.
I flashed the very first firmware version (5.1.1)
FRP lock still there BUT I could now use the side sync hack or samsung unlock APK on OTG cable.
Then flashed the latest 6.0.1 version
Did you manage to unlock it?
I have the same problem
Any good current methods for this
uninstall all drivers related and kies. Then install kies and needed drivers. See if you can connect via download mode now.

Have a look at my post here... How To Reset FRP (Nearly All Fones From Android 6.x.x to 7.x.x, No Trips, Flash counter inciment, Knox, Still Mode = Official, Warenty 0 (0x0000) (Still working 16 June 2017)
You see, im not all that good with programming APK files, Dalvik VM, Obex, ect, but Linux I'm your man so i figured where is the email/pass info held and is there a switch to keep it on off, ends up one of the easiest hacks i've ever done, no complicates hashed/salted double coded switch, or hard wired switch,
just a very small partition that when or if you have any google account info stored in it you get locked out till you enter the exact same info, so i just dd,d the partition after taking a backup of course lol (; then when the fone booted to download mode i noted FRP=OFF so i flashed the stock bootloader to let the fone boot all the way to video mode and YES!!! it thought it was a new fone never been used before then i check the switches/trips KNOX , device status = official, to test i just made a new google account on the spot on the phone filled all the [email protected] in then voila its working, calls, all menu items ok, official all knox fine, just the way it was when i first got it, except obviously I've upgraded to v7, hopefully this works for you, please dont use or talk about illegall activity with this, or using it for profit, it's agift I gave you's for free so i want it to stay that way, all i want is a thanks, and a beer, lol, no but seriously, when the guy that invented the hammer to ease the effort of pussing nails into wood with you hands, never got hassle about murders with them, tha fact the could be used to rob banks, rob people, damage things, smash up shops, etc so... think about it, all i done was make a tool to help people too. theres litteraly millions of exploits, including android based ones out there just now check, https://www.exploit-db.com/ , OWASP_Vulnerable_Web_Applications_Directory_Project , http://www.exploit-db.com/ , http://www.blackploit.com/ , packetstorm cve etc etc. #
This is a tool to help people how when they first got there fone, and just filled in any old stuff to get into the fun part of the fone. ie "you cannot use [email protected],com as it already in use how about [email protected],com then the password, use one lower case, one higher case, one number , one symbol, more than 12 letters but less than 20, don't use anything you talk about, your name dob etc etc etc , so most people just pick the random one google pumps out and tries random passwords till one goes through, "I've seen this done a few times with my own eyes and had to stop them and explain and this was b4 FRP" Also if you change one letter in your google password, Factory reset your fone, your locked out if the fone never got the change in time, try it, Anyways if people use this for illegal purposes its there evilness there using not mine, there just using my tool as well as the thousand of others in the arsonry, even the OS check out "kali linux OS", "Parrot OS" "Blackbuntu OS"," BlackArch Linux" Also say you code a program to check hashes at a faster rate to speed up logins etc, a hacker will use it to check stolen passwd lists faster, if a faster CPU is made, the first thing a hacker thinks of is how many words/letters it can do a second so they can bruteforce the wifi key of the local bank, hospital etc.... so?
tried EVERYTHING ....
I have the USCellular G935R4 .... S#iiiit , like I've even gotten to the actual HOMESCREEN , but no matter what I do it wont do it.. i can access just about any app and the settings accurately every single time within seconds-mins, even tried flashing it, even had FULL access and control over it using sidesync, and i tried rooting it from oneclickroot on pc but thennnn knox trips and won't let me enable developer options.... And got the error with "sign in using email and password" on quick shortcut maker , PLUS tried everything to fix the error by reinstalling google account manager , etc ...
But NOTHING ...
If ANYONE has any idea how to successfully do get into it , Pplleasee let me know!
???
Seriously ,
I swear , I'll even pay someone ...
Try flashing the phone to the latest MM via odin and try bypassing. I tried it on my G** da** S6 with may 2017 patch. Dowgraded into latest MM and tried different bypass and it worked.

Need help undoing what my old roommate done to my phone

A guy that is apparently a hacker hacked into all my devices and have been controlling my phone. I just don't know how to get him off. Here's 2 pics of the recovery log.
It's taken me 2 months of reading different forums to kinda figure out what he has done to my phone. I just don't know how to fix it and get him completely off. Right now he can control all apps and anything I do on my phone. If I need to upload more logs I will do that.
I see NO logs whatsoever here. Can you please add the logs?

Yes sorry I thought I did put them up here's 3 pics I'll post the rest in a minute I'm gonna get an app that will generate logs.
If this post vanishes that means he deleted it. If been trying to post here for over a month now.
How did you find out he hacked you?
What's your phone model? (Edit: from the logs it is probably a Moto G Stylus 5G 2022)
(PS I saved those photos so I have them even if they're deleted)
@HackD_1 you might be able to reflash the firmware if you're scared, but I still want to know how you found this out (it would be helpful) and if you know what exactly he did.
Sorry for the delay in response.
Yes my phone is a moto stylus 2022 5 G.
I found out after a series of events took place that ended in me catching him on my network. When I confronted him and told him I got a screenshot is when the attacks really started.
He hijacked my network by installing openwrt on my router. I had TMobile home internet and they supply the router so I couldn't just go buy a new one. I eventually got a new router but he just did the same thing to the other one. It got so bad I had to just turn my internet off. In the beginning the attacks would be in direct result of things happening. He moved out but he still has my phone under control. When I buy a new one he just hacks it this is phone 5 in 2 months.

Im actually not sure what all he has done. I do know he uses system apps and changes permissions. He uses project treble to get system root and then he somehow has root privileges over on the phone. He can delete or just turn off any app he wants. It's so complex it's hard for me to even explain. Here's logcat logs hopefully it will help so you can help me.
I tried to reflash the firmware with the moto rescue and recovery but it stopped half way through. He messed the computer up so bad I can't even get on it without him knowing. Then he stops all downloads that have to do with fixing the phone.
It's extremely aggravating.
Ok this person is extremely intrusive and seems to be targeting you.
I have a question: the TMo gateway already runs openWRT, so how do you know he has access?
Did this happen to all your phones? Does he have physical access to your phone?
Can you reset your PC from Windows recovery (or settings if it is a Mac)?
And how do you know that he did it?
Can you boot to Recovery (volume down while powering on) snd send a pic?
Download this program and reformat your device

Follow the instructions to the link above you can manually flash the firmware and that should bring it back to it's out of the box state...
You will need to put ur device in fastboot mode and will need to install the adb Motorola driver's
You can find what you need to download at rootjinkysdl.com the first link. Good luck

@Cheshire147 @HackD_1 Don’t use that MediaTek flash tool; it won’t work in this case.
You should use RSDLite (Motorola’s internal flash tool; it works on 10/11 in my experience if you don’t plug your phone into a blue USB port (usb 3.0) ) to flash this (firmware for US retail version of the G Stylus 5G 2022).
and @HackD_1 The extent to which people on XDA can help you with are with tech related issues. If this gets serious, please report this to your local authorities.
Also, backup and reset any other devices (you said your pc is messed up) to remove any makicious software lingering on your computers, and DO NOT give this person access to any of your devices to make changes.
You should also change you WiFi password and take ALL devices off the network (for security purposes).
@HackD_1 Also, how come you now have 5 phones? You can reset all of them and sell off / give away the ones you don’t want.

I know there's only so much people on here can do. This whole thing has really been one of the worst things that's happened to me. People don't think about how much loosing control of your cell phone will stress you out. The aggravation I felt in the beginning of this because I didn't know what was wrong or how to explain it so everyone would say things like. It's possible to control a cell phone but it's HIGHLY UNLIKELY your phone is hacked. The helplessness I felt from not even being able to get tech people to believe me was unreal.
It's already gotten worst. There's no money in it for him so I thing he is getting bored with it all.
Worst part about all this and imagine how helpless you would feel when you finally say ok enough is enough and call the police just for them to say there's nothing they can do.
So here's what I know. He hacked into my network. Once on he could attack my devices. To get into the device he used either Google apps or Motorola app or even system update then once I unknowingly click his package it's game over
Project treble gets enabled and the recovery partition gets a genteric system image from AOSP once his OS is installed on my device he controls it like a developer building an os except he does things to stop me. I'm not even sure how this is possible if my bootloader is still locked.
I did read something about project treble and being able to flash certain images without unlocked bootloader so I guess that's how.
I wish i could have gotten the MOTO R&R to work but I think he did something to the download file. If I'm downloading a file he don't want me to have he will do a man in the middle and take away from the file or add to it to mess it up. I've download the Stock OS fir the stylus probably ten times. He will mess them up during download or delete them when he sees them in my phone.
I don't even have a computer anymore because he screwed mine up and got it stuck in boot loop.
If I had a USB OTG cable then I could download it onto a USB drive and install windows but mine unfortunately broke.
I have a question. Can I flash the phone using wireless debugging and another phone using tetmux or something similar?
He probably has tetmux configured to not flash it.
It seems every solution I try he has blocked.
Also if I flash the phone will that delete all the partitions? He has a bunch of partitions I've noticed. He's been kinda quiet these past couple days. Usually this post would have been erased and me blocked from this site.
He is also using my USB interface to gain access.
Rmnet. I know he's using it but can't figure out how to stop that either.
@HackD_1 flashing wirelessly is not going to work.
If he was intercepting requests to Google/Motorola servers (although idk how he signed any system apps for update), you should first fix your PC and network before trying to flash your phone.
You can order a Windows usb from eBay or something if you need windows now. And keep a USB around next time.
And can you remove all connected evices from the router configuration and change your wifi password?
