I have searched for a long time on how to upgrade my "Sony Ericsson XPERIA acro so-02c DOCOMO" with a 4.0 android since the japanese company is not going to push it. The only solution i found to work is this one taken from a Vietnamese forum, hance the poor google translation but you'll get it:
Guide update sony ericson Arco from-02c to Ics 4.0 world Lt18i.
So-02C currently no official version of ICS 4.0. But I can guide you to update the So-02c on the ICS 4.0.3 version arc s Lt18i.
Please note, read the directions carefully before making, I tried on two machines. I do not take responsibility for these incidents occur during up room.
1-Preparing the
PC Companion
Generic Nordic ICS Xperia Arc S firmware ( LT18_4.1.A.0.562_NCB.ftf )
FlashTool 0.7.0.0 (FlashTool 0.6. 9.1, update.zip)
SO-02C_4.0.1.C.1.9_docomo.ftf
Machine Xperia acro Compared-02c
Cable USB
2-Conduct
+ Install Pc Companion
+ Unzip Flashtoot 0.7.0.0, run the file to install FlashTool- 0.6.9.1-Windows.exe. Unzip the update.zip file, overwriting the entire new data extract the folder install of flashtool, usually in the path C: \ Flashtool
+ Copy 2 LT18_4.1.A.0.562_NCB.ftf files vàSO -02C_4.0.1.C.1.9_docomo.ftf on the folder C: \ Flashtool \ firmwares
+ In C: \ Flashtool run file flashtool.exe (win 32) or flashtool64.exe (win 64).
Flashtool will confirm the version has been updated to ver 0.7.0.0
Click Flash (lightning bolt icon), select Flashmode
Select LT18i 4.1.A.0.562 GenericNCB. Built choose three items: wipe user data, wipe cache, no final verification check as shown. Press ok.
Table inform
you turn off the power over-02c go, wait about 10 seconds. Hold the back button. Then start cable plug. Flash will start the process, you do not hold back anymore, flashtool run until the message appears as shown below
Disconnect the cable from the so-02c, but not turn on the light.
continue to select Flash as a first, and then select SO-02C 4.0.1.C.1.9 DOCOMO. Built select 2 items Exclude system, Exclude Kenel as shown below
Click ok, and then continue to do the above steps until Flash is finished.
Unplug the cable out, turn on, thrill to phone waiting for, for a long time, do not panic. And this is the result ^ ^
So-02c ran Ics 4.0 of the Lt18i
Note: Some features will not be used but no problem
+ Infrared
+ SEG (Japanese TV)
+ Felica (in Japan nodules)
Overall this is a very worthwhile upgrade, Ram released quite a lot, carefree setting.
I tryed the same thing with a new version of flashtool, but it didnt work got stuck at XPERIA, the 0.7.0 version stated in the manual is working just fine. The only problem i have now is that i can not root it using the doomlords toolkit. Before i did this upgrade i could root it using doomlord but it had the original docomo ics .9 as instructed on the doomlords thread.
As I am a tottal noob in this I really dont know how to resolve this rooting issue since i flashed my phone with a combination of two rom's, if someone has a workaround please help I'd be more than gratefull.
Just tried this. How long does one have to wait?

Your best bet would be to flash the stock firmware onto your device using flashtool.
1) Download flashtool from here: http://androxyde.github.io/
2) Download Miro firmware 11.0.A.5.5 from here: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_d8uWGbkaetR1ZuSWlUcTNNQVk/edit?pli=1
3) Install flashtool to your computer, keep the install location default to keep things simple.
4) Move the firmware to the flashtool directory. Default path is C:\Flashtool\firmwares
5) Install the device drivers provided with flashtool. Default path is C:\Flashtool\drivers. Install every driver firmware possible.
6) Open flashtool and click the lightning bolt. Select flash mode.
7) In the new window select your Miro firmware what you moved to the firmwares folder. Do NOT change any of the tick boxes as doing so can cause complications. Press okay.
8) Let flashtool prepare the file for flashing. Once it has it will ask you to connect your device in flash mode. To do so plug the large USB end into your computer, remove your phones battery and leave the back off. Connect the small end of the USB cable to your phone and hold the volume DOWN (-) button. Insert the battery. This puts your phone into flash mode.
9) Let flashtool work its magic. It takes about 2-5 minutes to make your phone work again.
10) Enjoy your working phone.

For Flashing Stock ROM fastboot drivers are not required, only flashmode drivers are required which Windows manages to get them easily. I wanted fastboot drivers for my phone which were in Flashtool -> Drivers folder. But the installing always used to fail. After lot of google searches I found out as the drivers were not digitally signed Windows used to block it's install process. If you are having same problem just Google 'How to disable driver signature enforcement in Windows'. It helped for me

Please follow this tutorial, it will lead you to flash firmware using Flashtool
How to install the newest Android 4.1.2 for Sony XPERIA S LT26i
a) First of all, you need to install driver into your PC (You can use PC Companion to do it)
b) Download and install latest Flashtool from HERE.
c) Download also Android 4.1.2 firmware (you can find it HERE or HERE) for Sony XPERIA S LT26i
d) Paste the ftf file downloaded in step c) to folder „Firmware“ included in the XPERIA Flashtool
e) Open the XPERIA Flashtool, click on flash and choose downloaded firmware, than click ok. Important - if you do not want to delete any data of your phone, just uncheck flashing userdata.sin file. All data will remain in your phone, but sometimes it can cause additional troubles. So it is better (and I recommend that) to do the backup of your personal data, than proceed with clean instalation and then restore your personal data.
f) Turn off your phone and when Flashtool shows pop up window, connect phone to PC with holding volume down button
g) After few minutes all is done and your phone gets the new firmware
GOOD LUCK
TWRP should allow you to mount your device as USB device and install a zip file that contains a rom.

preparation
place in sd card SR5 2.78 superSU .
there is NO KNOWN DIRECT METHOD TO MODIFY KERNEL of 32.3.A.0.372 (YET) so the work around is posted by
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70595975&postcount=1702 ( by @serajr )
extract kernel as elf (by flashtool) from ftf file of .372 and use the same root kernel to build your custom kernel and put inside the following zip file at
https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4006777&d=1484669198
there is no known direct way to edit kernel (yet) so the there is work around
Flash nougat with flashtools ( I erased everything so back up your photos videos etc)
2.After initial boot complete startup wizard.
3. Put attached file into root of sdcard
4. using classic adb ~ boot into fastboot and type fastboot boot boot.img image that has TWRP ( of MM Kernel) I used the one from latest MM

Is there any modified STOCK KERNAL for Z5 (dual)? or anything similar which contains TWRP recovery? I've been searching a lot of threads but I can't seem to find any. Thanks for the reply.
In which step are the DRM keys recovered/restored?

at the end you can restor DRM KEYS using same tool
https://github.com/DevShaft/Backup-TA/releases
however the Kernels by @KbaB.BroS already have DRM Stimulation so as of now even if you don't restore keys, it will be just fine. however keeping them SAFE for any future situation would be RECOMENDED

Use iovyroot, that other backup TA is a bit old last update was 2014...
When you backup with iovyroot using tabackup.bat you'll have TA-(numbers).img file (keep it safe somewhere as this is your unique and personnel backup)
To fully restore your keys on an unlocked bootloader, copy your TA partition backup to the rootkernel folder...command prompt to the rootkernel folder and type:
flash_dk TA-(numbers).img restore-drm-keys.ftf
You'll get a file called restore-drm-keys.ftf
Now use flashtool to flash it and all your keys will be restored (including fido)

The rootkernel folder from tobias tool, right click in that folder to open a command prompt...
Edit: if you go to the iovyroot thread, read the the 1st and 2nd post to understand what you're doing... In the 2nd post there is a link that will explain in details the all process, just adapt it to your own device...
To find out if your keys are re-enabled after you flashed them go to the services menu and under test/security you should see the 3 keys on top "active" and the fido key "provisioned"...that means that all your keys are back, if the fido key is not provisioned then your keys are only emulated...hope that it's a bit more clear now

the kernal made by @KbaB.BroS has DRM Stimulation enabled,
if you are making your own modified stock kernel then don't enable DRM Stimulation.
however modifying kernel is risky. be extra careful!

is this problem
1. with play store only ?
2. how about rest of the apps? (chrome / viper / whatsAPP)
3. or are u facing connectivity issue globally?
you mentioned first two days after rooting this means initially it was working just fine... what apps you installed and allowed root access via superSU ?
please specify....
my WILD guess is that you might be having DNS issues (but that was OLD time issue in Cynogenmod (build in Gingerbread) that you have to specify DNS in settings globally....

I have flashed my phone. but nothings change. but you cant safe your documents and data. because your phone already software crashed. so you can do it.
please note. this app is not recommended like flash tool. but you have no option to recover your phone.
did you try to repair your phone using Xperia companion.
before flashing using new flasher. try to repair your phone using Xperia Companion. which is officially recommended application. open xperia companion and click repair then select phone and wait until show you connect your phone with press and hold volume down key. if this works no need to use new flasher. if this not work you have to use new flasher
