Does anybody know what the Event_Log_Handoff wakelock is? It's been constantly keeping my phone awake and draining battery.
I have a XT925, 4.1.2, Rooted
All I have syncing is my Gmail. I don't use Facebook or Google maps. The only Google Apps I have are Play Store, Gmail, Google search, and Google Voice.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I found this solution for the Event_Log Handoff Wakelocks in an older thread, tell me if it works!
I had found this issue

This issue was giving me the ****s and finally I solved it - at least on my Phone. You should use the same steps below to solve 60mA drain or otherwise on your phones as well.
1. Installed Better Battery Stats 1.1.1.0
2. Goto Partial Wakelocks and choose option - Since Charged or Since Unplugged
3. Find the Top 2 consumers :-
Mine were CHECKIN HANDOFF - Google Services ( more than 86% use ) in my case over 4 hours - AND EVENT LOG HANDOFF - Google Services - again very significant usage way above what it should be.
The rest were fine ( significantly less than 1% ).
4. I Then installed AUTORUN MANAGER Version 3.1 ( pro )
This allows you to list Applications with Receivers and to disable individual receivers from user AND System Applications
5. Went to Google Services Framework ( obvious place to check )
6. Disabled ( unchecked ) the Checkin.EventLogService$Receiver
7. Disabled ( unchecked ) the CheckinService$TriggerReceiver
8. Disabled ( unchecked ) the CheckinService$Receiver
9. Disabled ( unchecked ) the CheckinService$SecretCodeReceiver
PROBLEM SOLVED - ONLY 3-4mA drain in Standby now Instead of the ****ty 60mA drain.
Finally I can have a 100% perfect Rom

[Q] Wifi & network location unavailable after switching location off & on again
Hi there,
I found this strange but reproduceable bug on my N5's location services and was wondering if it's the same for you.
Turn off location via settings or quick settings
Turn it back on
You'll be asked to accept Google location terms
Switch to battery saving mode (only wifi & network, no GPS)
After these steps, my N5 cannot find it's location via Wifi & mobile network anymore. In Maps it might still show the blue dot but moving around it won't update. When using any other app which will try to get a fresh location it's a no go. Like Google+, try and make a post with location, no joy.
I have to reboot to get it working again.
Did you agree to those Google terms? If not that's the reason...

I agreed to those of course. If you cancel that it will turn back to device (GPS) only

Strange. Are you running stock ROM? I had no problem doing the thing you described.

Just got it 2 weeks ago, all is stock, locked and original.
Did you try any other app besides Maps? That sometimes uses last known location and shows blue icon.

You're right, mine also won't find my position without GPS. However a reboot fixes it for me.
Somewhat glad to see others having this bug too. Indeed a reboot fixes it right up so it's not a huge deal.
Under normal circumstances I would't change this setting ever, but when I just got my N5 I wanted to test the GPS only feature. After turning it back to Battery saver I noticed and started investigating what caused it.
Thanks for testing mate!

No problem. I'm glad also to be aware of it now, so that I can avoid standing somewhere I need and it won't find it
Anyone else willing to try this? The N5 from a friend of mine did not show this behavior. And another did. Weird bug.

I have the problem on my 16 GB black nexus 5 with stock Rom and no root. I tested with dalvik and art but the problem exist. I have found 3 solutions:
1- reboot phone (temporary solution)
2- stop Google Play Services (temporary solution)
3- uninstall updates of Google Play Services use with stock/no update (permanent solution)
one more thing; when I can't get a location fix with network/wireless GPS mode on Google Maps or any other application, I can see a circle on " Yandex Navigation" that shows my location.
but more interesting thing is I can see a circle that shows my location on Yandex Navigation when my GPS is completely off.
I think this problem is about Google Play Services or Google Location Services. I hope someone find a solution.

Thanks for your (rigorous :good tests.
Reboot was the one I used to fix it, didn't know about the others you found.
In a strange way glad to see it's a software bug, which means it's fixable. I guess the friend I mentioned has not updated the Play services ever, that would explain why he is not affected.
happens to me as well on a Nexus 7 (2013). I've found that battery drains faster even when in deep sleep
Me and my colleague also have this issue...
Completely wiped and factory reset to stock, same prob.
Reboot solves it until you turn location services off and on again, or go from "device only" mode to "battery saving".
A quicker way then reboot (reboot actually does the same as this step) is go to settings, apps, running, Google Services (you might have 2), there STOP the GoogleLocationService (it will stop and reload the service)
Location should work again in battery saving mode...
Thanks for that one Foggy79!
Reboot or restarting the google play services takes much longer (especially when you have to disable ADM first) then your trick of only stopping the only location service.

No problem.
I just reproduced the issue on an other colleague's N5, that makes 3 ppl here in the office, can't be coincidence.
If the GoogleLocationService could restart automatically when you turn on "Location" and agree the terms, that would be great...

It appears the issue is fixed for me.
I have Google Play services 4.3.24 so it might be fixed behind our backs.
Now when you turn the location off and on again, the GoogleLocationService is automaticly restarted also
Fixed for me as well with the new Google Play Services!
The new version now indeed restarts the LocationService again.
I'm glad Google also reads XDA (j/k)
Now if they can get GoogleLocationsManager and NlpLocationsReciever to stop running when Locations Services are turned off completely, that'd be great.

Hi.. I have a problem. When I'm not using wifi, I find google play services always draining a lot of the battery... the % is always between 10-15% after many hours. I did some changes hoping that it would fix that... like I only sync emails with my 3 google accounts, I disabled totally google now, i disabled google location history and set location to wifi-mobile. But it still drains too much (i think, whats your % on google play services?).
Is there anything else I could do to lower the drainage? I have many apps installed but I cant think of anything that could cause that.
Thank you!
PS One thing I really dont get: why in wifi its not even listed in the list of the apps draining memory, while in mobile data its so high?
Make sure always scanning for wifi is off because that setting always enables if you use GPS and doesn't disabled aftewards
For me it was the Google Backups. That has always decimated my batteries lol.

I would think it would. Do you have screenshots of your battery screen you can share?
Settings > Backup and reset > Back up my data.
You should be able to check data usage by WiFi as well. If anything, I think you can restrict Google Play Services to not use cell data.
Settings > Data usage > (find the app) > Restrict background data (at bottom)
WiFi settings...
Settings > WiFi > More > Advanced

Btw i cant find any "restrict background data" option after selecting an app... why? I tried several apps and never show. I think i had this option on my s6 but i dont remember well.
PS:

I also dont have "advanced" under more... wtf? Do i have some menus hidden or what?

No carrier at all... unbranded. Any idea?
Under data usage I have a menu called "Background data" where I can prevent individual apps from using mobile data when not running in the foreground and not in wifi... problem is that i dont have "google play services" there... i just have a general "google".
And still cant find advanced menu under wifi setting... i checked on google and a lot of people dont seem to have this option anymore even on s6... Im confused tho, some people with s7 have it and some dont??

It is confusing, not sure why it's like that. One would think they'd all be the same.
Maybe someone else here is in the same situation. Not that it matters, but then again might as well ask lol. Are you using a GSM or CDMA phone?

That first pic I don't have the paragraph at the bottom.
The second, for me scanning settings are under Settings > Location > Improve Accuracy.
So there seems to be differences.

I'm in the same boat. A few days ago, all of a sudden, Google Play Services started to eating up my data like crazy. In less than a week it's eaten up over 1GB in the background, and now the "restrict background data" option is gone. Things like these made me want to dump my S7 and switch to a Nexus......
I have a bone to pick as well with Google Play Services, but it's regarding non-stop location requests. I've been searching high and low for similar issue but don't seem to find any.
Just t be clear:
1. I don't use Google Now
2. I have disabled Now Cards
3. I have disabled Location History
4. I have performed factory reset
5. It's not rooted
6. I want to keep Location Service switched on
Under Location, Google Play Services location would always indicate "Battery usage: low" and occasionally shows "Battery usage: high". I use GSam, and it barely register any GPS activity, and I think any GPS activity that is logged would be the ones that was "Battery usage: high".
I also use Greenify to take advantage of aggressive doze but doesn't help with the location issue.
I use Package Disabler and have disabled most bloatware and Google's apps I don't use.
I just want to see of anyone has noticed this on their S7. It's a European variant.
mines having this issue too. it'd wake time is 11 hours today outta the 13 hours off charger. it's been crap the past month. it was OK for 2 days and nowhere near the top, but now it's crap again. getting annoyed with this damn phone.

There was an update of google play services a few days ago to version 9.2.56. Since then I experienced a huge battery drain. I found out that my s7 doesn't go to deep sleep when I switch Bluetooth on and afterwards off. Reverting to an older version of google play services solve this issue for me.

I was having this problem, 65% battery usage with Google Play Service, I set up Google as below and it seems to have worked.
In Settings > Accounts
Tap Google and Turn off all the items you do not need or want to Sync
Also
In Settings > Google under the Services heading
Nearby - Set to Off
Google Photos Backup - Set to Off
Location On but Locating Method - Set to GPS Only
Ads - Op Out turned On
Search & Now > Now Cards - Set to Off, also Now on Tap - Set to Off
Exit out to the Home Screen and reboot your Phone, in the last 21.5 hours no Google Play Service draining the battery.
Failing that working you could try Settings > Applications > Application Manager > Google Play Service tap More and Uninstall Updates as suggested by @DSC05 and reboot your phone
What is the firmware version you are on?
I have a 930F with APE2 firmware and play services is the last on the list with 5% drain. Still, I have a smartwatch (LG Urbane) connected with bluetooth on all the time.
Hello All,
On both my wife's and my Tmobile S7s running 6.01 on the November security patch, the location services are terrible. The phone keeps thinking I am at my house when I am 20 miles away at work. My wife has the same problem. If I toggle location services off then on, it instantly updates to the correct location. Eventually if defaults back to my house. This wouldn't be such a huge deal if I didn't have a SmartThings home automation system. SmartThings keeps unlocking my front door, turning on lights, and putting the heat back on because according to the phone I am at my house and the automation kicks in. Here is what I have done to try to fix the location issue:
- Location on with method = GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks.
- Improved accuracy on with Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth Scanning enabled.
- Under Optimize Battery usage, I have unoptimized Location Services (meaning it should always be running).
Does anyone else have this problem with their S7s? If it were jsut mine, I would chalk it up to a faulty device, but it is happening to my wifes as well. Any other tricks to make this stop happening?
It's just you.

If you open up Google Maps, it shows us at our house on the map. If we cycle the location toggle on the quick link bar while on the map, it then updates to where we actually are. The home automation application is just effected by the location services being inaccurate.

You are not alone. I have a same problem as well. Mock location is disabled and thus also happens right after factory reset as well. I'm starting to think this may be a hardware issue.
All of a sudden when I try to use waze it can't find a GPS signal.
All my other GPS apps works fine (Google maps, runkeepe etc).
When I restart the phone and open waze again it finds the location and after a few seconds the signal is lost and after that it won't get any signal again.
It happened all of a sudden!
The GPS is on and on high accuracy,
I tried to reinstall the app,
I clear cached data.
wipe cache
Nothing works.
same here
same here, all other apps working fine
this issue started with update 5.1.11 with me
also waze does work for me after a reboot ... briefly then loses signal after a few seconds
I was able to fix this by always launching Waze from the "GPS Locker" app. You can get the app from the Play Store.
Ok so I tried everything and still no GPS connection to Waze. Started yesterday out of no where (didn't update anything) and now I can't use Waze at all. Google Maps works fine, gps tested fine , only Waze is not working.
Any ideas?
sounds like gps time sync error.
Same here, works briefly after I restart my phone. I also think it has something to do with the update I did.
Any solution?

Same issue here. Waze is working fine on the smartphone itsef (but only if I enable advanced Battery optimization). But through Android Auto the GPS is not taking position (only briefly after rebooting phone)....
Google maps though is working just fine!
OK on mine but I am using the One+ Android 9 beta and also the latest Waze Beta on my 6. Used it from Somerset to London today OK.
Continues to be OK
Same issue here, but i thought it was due to the Beta i am using, so i filled a report on the beta forums of waze.
Same here.
was working fine yesterday and sudnely afternoon waze cant fined GPS signal
A lot of people report the same issue on the OnePlus forum also.
I got contact with Waze support. After the starndard mail with the obvious suggestions, they've asked me to reproduce the issue in debug mode and to send them the log files.
I suggest that everyone of us contacts Waze support in order give them access to as much cases as possible. The more notifications of the problem they get, the quicker we will have a solution.

By entering 2##2 in the search box and then restart Waze (same to exit debug mode).
When you contact support, they send you mail with pretty clear instructions on how to send the report logs.
Please make sure to contact them first, otherwise they cannot link the report logs to the correct ticket!

If you disable the "Advanced battery optimization" it simply won't work anymore.
I enabled the advanced optimization again and set waze AND android auto (which I use) to: "don't optimize", after that, waze is able to position agian after a second or 10.
Though, when using it trough android auto, the GPS signal is lost, to only return for a few seconds if you reboot the phone.
Google Maps though is working just fine without any issues.
Updated Oxygenos yesterday, same problem after update. Anyone who has a solution or is in contact with Oneplus?
