Hi, thank you for this post, but I wonder is it possible to install this without root and magisk?
I have Redmi Note 5 AI with global stable MIUI 10.3.1.0 based on PIE. I have also unlocked bootloader, but I don't know to work with magisk.
Is there any solution to install this Dolby and enable it without root?
For example, can we do this via TWRP?
Please, advice?
Thank You in advance :good:

And selinux is set. Hmm well. My guess is as good as yours then.
If you are getting Force Close's with selinux enforcing then change it to permissive. With attached Magisk module.
Flash magisk selinux manager v1.0 in magisk and reboot.

Hi guys,
I am using the optimized stock rom located here. aaaaawawawaa using BitO-KU kernel. The sound is very low on my Nvidia Shield k1. I have done the tweaks located here. In the thread it says that viper4android makes a big difference as well. When I try to install viper4android I keep getting an I/O error when trying to install the driver. I downloaded SELinux changer but when I launch it I am getting an error in it as well. It says the app was unable to gain root access. I checked in supersu and SELinuxModeChanger does have root access. So I don't understand why it will not work either. In terminal emmulator it says that permissive mode is enabled. Can someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong? I would really like to get viper4android working.
Thank you,
Rocky
1. It isn't good rom, I've had it only two days. Stock kernel is better too.
2. I'm on stock 5.2(K1), rooted with Magisk 14, installed M modules:
V4A 2.0 by ahrion, busybox by osm0sis. V4A works good but I don't need it for speakers. @grimreaper1014
Do you have properly installed busybox?
Just flash Viper4Android using Magisk 14 (its located under downloads tab) and disable AudioFX if you even have that on stock ROM. Then it should work but note that if you get processing error just create a folder named "MagiskManager" and it should work then.
Ok thanks guys. Right now I have SuperSu flashed via recovery. Do I have to remove that somehow to install magisk?

I'm doing a clean install. I'm going back to LinageOS. Where do I create the MagiskManager folder at if I need it? Thanks again for your help fellas. I appreciate it greatly.
@grimreaper1014 create the folder in /storage/emulated/0/ in case it doesn't want to install the module. If it goes without any problems then congrats you have working Viper4Android !
(Make sure you disable AudiFX app in lineageOS before you do any flashing)

If for some reason you (or others) choose this route, you can remove SuperSU (mandatory in order to install Magisk) using the built-in function in the SuperSU app.

Similar setup: stock 5.2 ROM, with Magisk 14, and simply installed the V4A (version 2.0) module by ahrion. I think the module installed busybox (by osm0sis) automatically, as I don't recall doing it myself. But I maybe I'm not remembering that properly.
V4A working great, no messing with SELinux.

I believe you need a custom or modified kernel with SEL Permissive. Otherwise, even if it installs and runs, I don't think that it will work.

Can confirm, somewhat. I spent a while getting it running myself, the latest zip from @ahrion works, but for our case some things need to be moved.
For anyone interested in some behind the scenes audio changes; for the O update, our HTC audio effects file and all soundfx folders were moved from system/etc and system/lib to vendor/etc and vendor/lib. This is causing a bit of confusion with some things. When I flashed his zip, I had to move the system/lib/soundfx folder in his module to vendor/lib, go into the htc audio effects file and point the V4A library to vendor instead of system, then create a symlink for vendor as is usually done. I still have to go into developer mode and disable selinux for it to process, though.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/u11/development/kernel-cleanslate-v1-0-t3623310 this kernel does wonders for viper4Android and also make sure your using the latest beta magisk...

I've tried to install this several times and the driver never gets enabled. It asks to reboot in order to install the driver every time I open the app after rebooting the phone. Did you do anything special? What's the secret?

Because of this post, I decided to install the Audio Modification Library module to see what it does. Oddly enough, for me, V4A actually started working after enabling this additional module and setting my kernel to permissive. Weird. Glad it's working now though!

lol... nice!
I just had the same issue as a result of upgrading stock MIUI Android 7.1 ROMS on a Xiaomi Mi Max 2.
I solved it by:
1. In Magisk, disabled both Audio Mod Library and Viper4Android --> REBOOTed.
2. In Magisk, ENABLED both Audio Mod Library and Viper4Android. --> REBOOTed.
No driver errors and it works in Speaker and Headphone.
But I'm not getting any Viper Notification in the Shade or the Status.

Did you try Disabling/Enabling the modules in Magisk? I had to do this a few times before it worked. Viper status will report 'Processing: No' until you start playing a music file, then it should change to 'Processing:Yes'.
I was able to get the notification to show up by selecting the first option in Settings>Show Notification.
I've tried just about everything I can think of.
Here's what I don't get. I have 3 devices currently. All running Oreo. Huawei Mate SE, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Ulefone T1. The Redmi Note 3 and Ulefone T1 both have V4A working fine and both kernels are Enforcing. The Huawei no matter how it's set refuses to work.

I managed to install viper on op7 OOS10.0.1 with bluspark kernel with the following method:
1) uninstall every AML and ACP and viper stuff and reboot.
2) install ViPER4ANDROID 2.7.1.0 apk from xda labs and open the app but dont install driver. put the app in background
3) go to magisk>downloads and install AML module. it will ask to reboot. dont do it.
4) go back to viper and install driver. it will automatically reboot.
5) after reboot go to magisk manager and UNCHECK (NOT DELETE) AML and open viper and install driver again.
6) now your phone will boot with viper installed
Note: (if viper driver is installed but has no effect then go to viper and click on 3 dot menu then click on 'attach audio effects' once viper start working you can detach it). you can use App Systemizer on magisk repo to systemize viper app to priv-system app so that it doesnt get killed in background. you can also hide its always on notification. viper will always run in background. but i saw no battery drain difference. Enjoy
Worked for me in Stock Rom oos 10.0.1?
Or you can easily flash in magisk repo

I installed it the complicated way, thats written up there and it worked fine. I had to wait because i lost root in the oos 10 update, because i flashed magisk in the wrong way. And there was no twrp that worked for me, fastboot boot didnt worked at all, so i flashed magisk to the boot image and i got root again with viper4android and everything works fine.
