Which is your model??
It's not available for Pixel 3 in India.

I believe the poster was using the magisk VoEnabler to get the settings (or edit to build.prop). For any of that to actually work it needs carrier support. It is enabled in my settings, but I know no other person who uses it so cannot test it.

It is not about carrier unlock. It is if they have the service.

They have service. I have used it in OnePlus phones, all Xiaomi phones and Samsung phones. It is Google that not allowing this to promote their Google Duo app which requires data on ( if anybody is wondering why I am not using that).
When Google introduced Pixel 1 in India VoLTE was not available. After 2 months they activated it by an update ( codeaurora.ims) .

Sorry for any misunderstanding, I am not in India so cannot really get the situation. Here in China all google service is blocked. My phone can only use such service if the carrier allows it.

Has to be offered and enabled by carrier unless you somehow used qpst a d flashed different mbn files. As of now, impossible on pixel 3 to do what I mentioned.

Please don't say carrier. Huawei pushed ViLTE in Feb 2019 to Honor View 20 via EMUI update. Back in 2017 Google pushed VoLTE to Pixel XL via 7.1.1 update in India.
Google really want to use Duo for Video calling like Facetime

On dialling *#*#4636#*#*
I used old Google contacts app

It still has to be an approved device by the carrier whther or not the oem allows for it with their device. If this wasnt the case then there wouldnt be tons of forums with people using the forementioned qpst and other such methods to get the options working despite their carrier not allowing it.

Have they activated it on your particular sim card. I use China Telecom and could not get VoLTE until I contacted them and they activated it on my sim card.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/how-to/guide-qxdm-port-activation-pixel-2-xl-t3884967
Something like this is required.

My carrier China Telecom has enabled it at it works with the google phone app.

My thread here https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3/help/china-telecom-t3891520 might be related. The mbn files for Chinese carriers were not correctly put into the file, had to be manually added. I just looked and cannot locate any mbn files for Indian providers in that location.
Maybe you just need to get the mbn from another device and add it to the /generic folder and the sw_mbn.txt file. It requires you to disable verity to change the vendor partition, you can use magisk. After changing re-enable verity and do a twrp factory reset.

Ims registration is done by the carrier . Any basic sim engineer knows this. Some carriers are more liberal about it while others, like att are not. Glad it's working for you!

Same here, I have no desire for video chat... Absolutely none what so ever.
My question is; If this does go through and voice data is treated as data, on top of video chat, will data packages be realigned, or will it not be counted against the quota?
Still, it'll be nice to see this technology.
Got my answer:
http://www.droid-life.com/2014/08/26/hd-voice-calls-on-verizon-treated-just-like-traditional-calls
HD Voice Calls will be treated like traditional calls.
I'm excited. I just wonder which devices will be able to use the tech. My account has 2 s4s a note 2 (soon a note 4) and an s5. I'm sure the s5 and note 4 will be able to but the rest I'm not sure.

Video chat I'm sure we'll be optional. It's not a paid service from what I understand. You just have the option of using it if you want to.
What am in missing here? I have voice now, I'll have voice later, just over the LTE waves? It's not like my data where I get faster thruput, i still just get to make a phone call.

HD voice only if you're calling another verizon customer with a compatible phone. so really it won't affect any of my phone calls. Not an interest until all providers are connected.
Sounds good. But it will definitely require a serious OTA because I've heard of nothing being already developed in the S5 for this feature. Expect Verizon to mess with root.

In a nutshell, you'll be able to use Video calling and HD voice over the network without WiFi without any additional charges or hits against your data, provided your contact has a compatible device and the necessary software.
VoLTE is now available. I need to get my phone up to 4.4.4 (NI2) on Developer Edition so I can enable this feature.

The HD phone calls will not go against data, just minutes if you are not on an unlimited talk plan. The HD video calls will go against data.
Good luck getting it to work. If I enable HD Voice on my account, all my incomming calls stop and people get a message that the number has been disconnected or changed. Took 2 hours with Verizon to figure out thats what the issue was,. Once guy removed that feature from my account it started working again.

HAH. I was just coming here to post this. Although I didn't call Verizon, I did notice it only happened after enabling the features online. I can still make calls, receive texts I just can't receive them. Although I am kind of OK with that... LOL.
And to confirm. I just went online and disabled advance calling and now I can get calls again (called myself from work phone). Go figure... rolling out a broken product.

Z3, Where is Hd Voice?

hi, as many of you know, Z3 should support HD voice over 3G call.
but according to Service Menu
Code:
In your device, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
Tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
you can see
"available Speech codecs"
HR, FR, EFR (old gsm codecs)
where is AMR-WB ? for hd voice?
noone have info ?
I do not know, but I get HD voice when I call other people who also have a service provider with HD voice! It should be enabled by default...
Yup. Works fine for me. There's a small HD symbol when it's working.

HD Voice works only if both partys of call have "HD Voice" enabled phones and both of them are on "HD Voice" enabled networks.
If one of this is false, it will not work.

Me and caller are on T-Mobile. Caller has a iPhone 5C
For "Full HD Voice" not only phones must support, but cross network compatibility also needs to exist, if calling out of network.
For regular "HD Voice" aka Wideband AMR just both phones need support, correct me if I am wrong.
Currently Full HD from AT&T to Verizon not possible as cross network VoLTE won't be available till next year. I think TMO to AT&T is possible at the moment.
According to Verizon they are working with AT&T for VoLTE intercompatability by the end of next year. Don't know where that leaves TMO though.

I have a Z3C taking to a Nexus 5 on TMO. I never see the "HD" symbol on my dialer (like the picture 3 & 4 posts above this). AFAIK, I meet all the requirements. Any ideas how to test, e.g. some known client that definitely supports HD? Perhaps a dialer with particular HD capabilities or options?
Are you on WiFi calling?
I have spoke with my carrier, and they explained me that the symbol has to be linked to the HD Voice in order to show up. Some carriers do not have this system implemented, and the call are in "HD" but there is no indication for it.

I don't believe any devices not sold by T-Mo will be able to use HD voice. The Z2 supported HD voice as well but never showed the indicator either. I have a Moto X 2014 and that also does not work with T-Mo HD voice (as far as I've tested).
It uses HD Voice (AMR-WB), it just may not show it on an icon.
PC Magazine tested an unlocked Nexus 5 on T-Mobile:
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2458374,00.asp
On the theory that it may be HD, but it's just missing the icon... is there a way to confirm HD (other than a subjective listen test - I'm horrible at discerning sound)?
Also, one of my biggest complaints is full-duplex. Can anyone comment on whether HD automatically guarantees full-duplex? (I may be misusing the term, but what I mean is the ability to talk and listen simultaneously. A pet peeve is that POTS ca. 1960 allowed this, and technical papers I read about digital cell service - back to TDMA days - say it's implemented; yet my phone calls are plagued by 1-way communication only. I have to stop and wait for the other party to talk our I don't hear them.)

Force enable VoLTE and WiFi Calling

Hi!
I have Global version CPH2025, updated to Android 11 in Singapore EX region, but I can't turn on VoLTE and VoWiFi, it's just don't appear in settings. Under *#*#4636#*#* code is a VoLTE and WiFi calling option, but I can't enable it. I was trying to change software to different regions but with no result. In last phone OnePlus 7 Pro I turn this options in OnePlusLogKit, and this works for me for couple of months without problems, maybe in Oppo is also option to force enable it?
Thanks for any help!

Of course yes, as I sad VoLTE and WiFi Calling options is just not appear in settings, I tried 3 different carriers in Poland (PLAY, ORANGE, T-Mobile).
I was under the impression you ROM version indicates to a your service provider of the features you can have enabled on that phone.
Eg Vodafone UK only has select number of phones on their website that they enabled for VoLTE or WiFi calling. But these version would only work with specific ROMs.
Hence why I was holding off just to make sure on android 11.
Thanks
Thanks for answer. I have heard about this before, but as i said in first post - on OnePlus 7 Pro I can force enable VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling - in default also that wasn't working. Carries in Poland adds supported phones very slowly, and mainly most popular phones. Neither OnePlus 7 Pro or Oppo Find X2 Pro aren't supported officially by three main carriers...
The VoLTE/VoWifi is really interesting. Here in the Netherlands both were activated and being used until I received the last software update (carrier: T-mobile) since the update both aren't available.
Customer services said the device added, so maybe the latest software has some issue with it. No sure
Sent from my OPPO CPH2025 using XDA Labs
So after upgrading my carrier plan in germany from LTE to 5G, I am missing also missing Wifi Calling which worked before. I have both options but I cant change to call over Wlan. If I press the button Wlan-Anrufe (which should bring up the selection), nothing happens.

Reason to Root Fold 2

I have an unlocked Fold 2 from Samsung. I love the idea of rooting and having full access/control over a device I own, but it has been years since I rooted a phone. Recently my needs have changed and I find I am thinking about rooting again. Just curious if the below reasons are worth rooting and if rooting will even help or would I need to root and load a a custom rom?
1st I need to disable the 5g radio on my phone. I live and work in an area with poor 5g coverage, but have just enough that the phone can see it and try's to default to it and ends up providing far worse connectivity than the LTE that is steller in my area. AT&T is who I use and they have disabled this feature in their portion of the firmware. I can plug in a buddies T mobile sim and after reboot have access to the menu that allows me to pick LTE and my preferred connection type but not on AT&T.
2nd This is less of a concern as I have work arounds, but I would like to remove any and all carrier control of my device. In particular their ability to monitor and dictate how I use my data, i.e. wifi/BT/usb tethering. Like I said I have a work around but its fiddly.
3rd I would like to be able to run full weight cellular diagnostic tools on my phone as well as have full access to the USSD dialer codes.
Can these things be done after rooting and or loading a custom rom, in particular on the Fold 2? I have been searching for a bit, but can't seem to target my search to just this thread as I end up having to sort through a dozen other threads. I can work my way through rooting my phone and loading a rom, just curious which apps and or roms to look for once I have rooted. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Ok how about this. Can anybody point me to a location that can help me figure out how to removed carrier specific configurations once rooted? I want to disable my 5g radio on my fold 2. This is something that can be done when it has a T Mobile sim, but not an AT&T sim.

You should google harder dude
You could just Flash an international firmware of an un-carrier branded software, they can be found here - https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-z-fold-2-5g/firmware/#SM-F916B
Try this app - ESET USSD Control : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eset.securedialer&hl=en&gl=US
Disable 5G radio :
Settings -> Connections -> Mobile Networks : Change the network mode

Sorry about the googling... Could only find and confirm that it was locked on att phones. As I have an unlocked variant I was not sure why I was having that problem. Thanks for the tip on F916B I did not know I could load that on the F916U1, I will look more into that. But again I thought the F916U1 from Samsung was unbranded.
Thanks for the software link.

I have been an XDA Forums member for about 10 years and have enjoyed countless custom ROM on dozens of devices ... here is my opinion ...
In 2020 there is ZERO point in rooting a phone. Full stop. The end.
Edit: no point whilst the manufacturer is still providing software updates & support
Fair point... Is there a means by which I can manual control the radios in my phone without rooting? For example sending custom crafted AT commands to the radio to do things like IMSI masking, band switching, and most importantly band aggregation commands.

Everyone's mileage may vary but I stand by what is said ... For me, I see ZERO need to root on Samsung android 10 or 11
If you had asked me a few years back, what I would do with a brand new android phone out of the box and I would have said "root". I think the last phone I rooted was note 8, out of habit and that voided my warranty and I didn't gain anything in return... almost everything I used to do, can be done without root. Ad blocking via disconnect pro and netguard, to disable apps, use ccswe (as long as knox licence isn't revoked), youtube vanced to fine tune adfree youtube, naptime for putting device to quick deep sleeps, side actions to configure power button behaviour etc... these were probably the things I could have only achieved with root earlier.
I personally rooted my Samsung Fold 2 just so I can degoogle it. I cant stand big tech so for me it was worth doing

I've used this code change the region of the phone to US. Try using this and see if you can tweak something there. Please be very careful of what you do as I can't be responsible for any damage happens to your device. The code is *#*#4636#*#*
I have set the radio bands to USA..Still no luck...thanks anyway..

I'm sorry I wish I could be of more help. Asus sure knows how to lose customers like this. There is one more thing you can try. There is a code that will force Wi-Fi calling for Asus phones but I can't say it will work for your country this code will not stick if you reboot your device as well. *#*#3642623344#*#* enter that and go to the same location I asked you to look into in my first post and check if the options appeared this time. Good luck.
Here is what i get when i enter *#*#3642623344#*#* ..

Yeah..i got those options too..but VOLTE does not seem to be working..
UK user here. Entered the code too. Option appears for 4g calling (volte) but doesn't work even when switched on.
Guys I must stress, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to Zentalk and open a thread on there with all your rog 5 issues. Volte, WiFi calling, battery life, any issues with rog 5 please post on Zentalk forum under the Rog 5 thread. Asus will take notice then the more people that post on zentalk the better!!

My network supports it too. Works on my Huawei, but not on Rog , useless
You might want to call your provider to provision VoLTE
