Hey so I'm curious, I used firmware.science to update my t-mobile note 9 to pie. The build number currently is different from the official T-mobile build number, is it plausible that my phone would still recieve the official update, or would I have too use another method???

OTA updates are controlled by your carrier, if you update the device with a different firmware than what is offered by your carrier for your device, then yes, that may interfere with future OTA updates offered by your carrier.
But, you can always just update manually, some devices have updates available but actually have to update manually because the carrier doesn't offer the update via OTA, some devices never get OTA updates from the carrier even though there is an update available to the public for the device.

Thank you, that's good to know. My wife's phone updated last night and the firmware.science website now has the t-mobile build listed. Considered what you said as far as having a different build number from what t-mobile has and it possible affecting future updates, I'm thinking it might be a good idea to re update with the correct build as not to miss any critical updates in the future.

As long as you have a T-mobile specific build, you "should" never have issues with updates.
Other builds may or may not still allow you to get updates, but why bother with a guessing game when you can use a T-mobile specific build instead.

Unless I'm mistaken, I think you just got pushed the HSUPA update. This part of the file name, "1_84_502_11", matches my firmware number after the HSUPA update. I don't know what number was on the firmware before the update, but my firmware is 1.84.502.11 after said update. From what I remember, the file name is exactly the one I got when I checked for it after the update was officially released last month.
EDIT: Unless of course, I'm wrong, and that's a totally new firmware update. Though I haven't seen any info on any new firmware updates for us since HSUPA.

I got the push on this via wifi yesterday afternoon also. I was assuming that this was the update that would enable installation of non market apps but I was wrong. Anyone have any additional information on this OTA update?
Personally, I do not think this is a recent update as I have been running custom roms since I bought the device but had to revert back to stock because of a warranty issue that will require me sending the device back. I think it is an update that was missed in the timeframe from February launch up until about 3 days ago.

I just referenced those numbers to mine and it IS the HSUPA update. It wasn't released till late April, so it hasn't been out that long. I just don't know if you should install it. If your sending it back, and since you reverted back to stock, maybe you should try installing it.

I was at wendys today, used their wifi to check for the update and sure enough it was this same one. D/l'ed it and installed. My speeds went from 200kb/s to 500kb/s. That was just one test though
I just hope this doesnt effect rooting it in the future as i plan to do so.
Just got the Inspire for my wife today. Saw this update as well. She doesn't want me to root or flash anything yet. Wondering if it's ok to run this update without it affecting the ability to root and flash anything later.
TIA

update for GSM
hey!Im currently using this phone on a gsm carrier. .anyway i can update the phone directly by putting it in CDMA mode or something?Or do i need to wait for a RUU to flash? Thanks!
Has anyone been able to get the ota update from verizon ?
I went back to completely stock 4.4.4 rom with no system roms removed, stock 4.4.4 recovery and I flashed back to 4.4.4 firmware and the verizon ota updates keeps coming up that I have the latest software.
I know its out because verizon itself even shows it on the net going over the update in detail. They even show you can also get the update through the htc sync software by plugging your m8 in to yuour computer usb port and downloading the update. Which the htc sync software keeps showing no update either.
It would show a repair software option though which I tried that knowing I would still have s-off even if they did relock my bootloader because I could change my cid and use htc dev to unlock that if I needed to.
Anyone have any luck going back to stock and taking the LP ota from verizon ?

That would be most annoying if they did not. Seems like other handsets the same age have it. If this is a ploy by HTC to get you to keep buying phones I might reconsider another HTC..

The Lollipop update to the AT&T version of the M8 has VoLTE, indicating it's probably a carrier thing more than an HTC thing.
FoxFi
Does anyone know if FoxFi will still work after the Lollipop Update?
Has anyone actually received it? Droid-Life said it started rolling out last night.

Imagine Verizon ruining the experience.. like their bloatware lolz
I wonder since it has not been tweeted, and stated on the HTC site if vzw prematurely posted the update info page on their site?

Probably. HTC's update page still says that it's in the "3 - Certification stage of the Android Lollipop Release."
Although Mo Versi did say to expect it the first week of March. So must be close.
I just ordered an m8 from Verizon and I really hope it didn't come with lollipop.

Mo Versi replied this morning: "It's approved, you should receive the OTA soon. Thanks!"
Pretty sure one site saw that the lollipop documentation was up and just assumed the ota was released and then all the other sites just copy and pasted it and now its a runaway train. And it being approved is not the same as the update being pushed out. Pretty sure we got played as far as getting it today.

At this point your odds are 4.4.4. There is practically zero chance of it having lolligagger on it.
Just checked the TMO software update site and Nougat for the Note 5 now has moved from "Testing" to "Completed".

Because this is the first tmo confirmation of availability without Smart Switch or having to use Odin. We tend to forget that newbies get confused about options other than Ota.

One Talk℠ from Verizon:
The Galaxy S7 edge now supports One Talk, connecting your office and mobile devices with one number.
App update:
Amazon Shopping (version 8.1.1)
https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/samsung-galaxy-s7-edge-update/
Edit: I received it and it updated Android security patch level to April
Are you sure that the OTA Firmware isn't actually a 7.0+ Nougat Build? The QC builds that I've seen so far have all been at least base 7.0 Nougat.
I don't have a S7 vzw. Yet. Probably within a few days.

Yep. You can return to stock and keep some directory changes you made by using their desktop Verizon Software Recovery utility for Samsung. You'd lose root but the phone will get and install OTA updates.

I know we will lose root if we take this update but is the update still rootable? I'm rooted on QA4 still and refused to take this update yet as I just received the notification today(Tuesday 5/2/17). I like being rooted with dual speaker mod,and V4A installed. If you go to @jrkruse "root for nougat" thread and follow his guide, you'll be able to root the qc5firmware.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/how-to/root-method-nougat-t3566978/post71275316
I am already on BQC5 and just this morning I got a new system software update downloaded, ready to install message. Odd thing is in the past, prior to BQC5 the notification showed the build number, date and what was changing. Now it doesn't show me anything. It just says there is an update do you want to install now or later.....
Anyone have info on this "unknown" system update?
Looks like this
Software Update G930VVRS4BQC9 for Samsung Galaxy S7 and G935VVRS4BQC9 Galaxy S7 Edge
Android May security update.
Device Stability improvements, bug fixes.
Further improvements to performance.
http://sihmar.com/software-update-g930vvrs4bqc9-galaxy-s7-edge/
Should say further improvements to guaranteeing random lag.
So is it normal for Tmobile and Sprint go get updates first?
Looks like they have an update rolling out starting last night.
Anyone get one on AT&T yet. Might jump per to Tmobile firmware if They get all the updates first.
Also what security patch is the U1 firmware on? I know Samsung made some promises after the unlocked S7 that they would be better at pushing out updates directly to that phone. If they get better with those updates I'd switch to that firmware I think as well.
Yes, T-Mobile & Sprint are faster generally.
As for Samsung's promise to step up support for the U phones, I guess it's too early to tell. With that said, however, Samsung recently pushed out the May update for the 935U which was a pleasant surprise. So far after Samsung's promise, the 935U has gotten the updates 2 months in a row instead of once every 3 months.
