I know there is a 72 hour waiting period, but what if i factory reset the phone during that time frame? Any issues??? Thanks
No you can reset with the device locked, but you can't flash anything.

Hello.
I unlocked bootloader in my moto G and after this I lost everything. I've got 8gb version and with 5gb free for user I had only 500 mb left so I really lost a lot of stuff :crying: Is there any possibility to recover all those files ?
Nope, unlocking bootloader wipes everything... Its hard to say, but you should have read beter...
When you unlock bootloader at Motorola website, you practically have 3 pages where all that freaking text repeats
Your warranty is void, your data will be wiped; you no longer have warranty, all the data on your phone will be erased; you will lose the warranty and the data on the device

Did you really miss all that text saying that 3 times every paragraph, 3 paragraphs a page, 3 pages before requesting the unlock code?

Hey
One of my family members bought the Moto G 2014 (Thea/XT1072) and one day It decided not to boot up. We tried factory resetting and clearing the cache etc from within the stock recovery, still nothing worked. Eventually we decided it's best we sent it back to Motorola who then sent it off to the repair company. Now to cut a long story short, they have accused us of rooting the phone which is impossible because everyone except me in my family doesn't know how to root, and the bootloader is still locked. Now that Motorola or the repair company refuse to touch the phone I was going to attempt to 'actually' root the phone, unlocking the bootloader first. Problem is I can't unlocked the bootloader as I need to gain access to the OS to turn the allow bootloader unlock under settings > development settings.
Bump

I tried to unlock the bootloader of my mi mix 2s and waited the 360 hours (two days more)... i tried it again and now the tool tells me that binding time is too short and i have to wait 396 hours...WTF can someone help me.. why?
thank you
The only option that you have right now is to wait. There is no way around it unfortunately. Its just Xiaomi trying to prevent resellers from unlocking Chinese phones, flashing them with a global rom and then selling as a global device.
Please help...the problem is i face error message if i unlocking the bootloader
Can't unlock Your account isn't association with a phone number

You first have to enable developer options, then go in and...
1. Enable OEM Unlocking
2. Go into "Mi Unlock Status">scroll to bottom and then "Add account and Device."
With this said however, it will still not likely work. Once you try again and it fails, you have to request an Unlock on the site, and wait 720 hours before they allow bootloader unlock (roughly a month).
How do I know all this? I started my wait just last night, since I just got my phone last night.

In redmi note 7 i solved this with going to mi account un phone, security of account and adding a telephone number .
Yes, they've gotten much better about it. This was an issue for many at first, it's been resolved on Xiaomi end of allowing unlock.

I just got an Poco X3. I would like to root this phone but first I need to unlock the bootloader first.
After going through the unlocking application, I get a message saying I need to wait 168 hours before I can unlock my phone?!? WTF? Why can't they let me unlock it now?
Then I saw there is this tool called Mi Unlock Tool Mod. Where can I find this tool and does it work for Poco X3? After unlocking the bootloader, will I be able to root the phone using Magisk or I need to wait for the kernel to be released?
Please advice, thanks!
The advice is ... Wait

Everyone here suffered that. It's general Xiaomi policy, you want your phone unlocked, you wait one week.
I am currently going through the same "waiting" process as you . I've read on most posts that attempting to bypass the wait timer might increase the waiting time even further.
Truth be told, it's nothing new for me. The Samsung S9 when brand new also had a wait time of 1 week before the bootloader could be unlocked.
I was able to unlock my bootloader last Friday. I used the week I had to wait to familiarize myself this phone, all the needed procceses and ROMs. So, just use the time and start to look forward to unlocking it in a week. ?
Thanks guys for confirming about the wait time. I shall wait for 1 week then. In the meantime, what rooting the phone using magisk? I am also checking if possible to flash it with a clean rom that is like pixel experience. I do not like bloated miui.
Imagine they made you wait 1 full year before you can unlock your phone. Now that would suck big-time wouldn't it?
