Can't Unlock Bootloader, No Custom Recovery and No OS - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey
One of my family members bought the Moto G 2014 (Thea/XT1072) and one day It decided not to boot up. We tried factory resetting and clearing the cache etc from within the stock recovery, still nothing worked. Eventually we decided it's best we sent it back to Motorola who then sent it off to the repair company. Now to cut a long story short, they have accused us of rooting the phone which is impossible because everyone except me in my family doesn't know how to root, and the bootloader is still locked. Now that Motorola or the repair company refuse to touch the phone I was going to attempt to 'actually' root the phone, unlocking the bootloader first. Problem is I can't unlocked the bootloader as I need to gain access to the OS to turn the allow bootloader unlock under settings > development settings.

Bump

Rooting Moto G LTE (XT1045) without unlocking Bootloader?

I would like to keep my limited Motorola warranty. So I don't want to unlock the bootloader.... I just want root for basic things. But rooting this phone seems twice as difficult than my Galaxy S5.
I've searched around and found temp root methods. But no permanent ones.
I wouldn't mind unlocking the bootloader if it could be locked again and Motorola wouldn't know.
So I could use some help/guidance.
Thanks

Sorry bro, when you wish to unlock the boot loader, you send your device id to Motorola, so even if you relock the bootloader, they'll still have it in their records....
To get permanent root, the only current method is through unlocking the bootloader to be allowed to flash root.
Cheers
I used to worry about warranty too.
Now I just don't care anymore, and I've never regretted unlocking, on some 25+ test devices now.
If the device was returned to a store, I don't think they'll check Moto's database.
If I was worried about a bootup warning, and I didn't feel there were any moral issues (device is broken already anyway), I would just brick the phone. They can recover from that at the service centre anyway.
I DID return a phone to a store once which would not boot at all. They FREAKED out because they said they needed to boot it to see a number. Maybe they were just looking for tamper evidence, I don't know.
Anyway, that's 40 minutes of my life (plus the drive) I'll never get back, because they could not follow the normal return procedures.
And in the end they had to accept the return of course. You'd think they must have had SOME returns of completely dead phones before...

[Q] warranty question

Hello!
I have N5 from the first batch. GPS is like ***, recently even worse, problems with microphone etc. I've decided to return the phone. However, my problem is that the phone was bought in USA while I stay in EU. So I have to prepare the phone perfectly before I send it to my friend who will deal with returning it to google.
List of sins: unlocked bootloader, CM a lot, now upgraded to Android 5.0 (using factory images from google). Till the update the device was not modified. However, I'm little bit scared, because bootloader seems to be unlocked.
Is my warranty void? Or can simply I return the phone with bootloader unlocked? If no, please help - is there a step-by-step guide on how to completly return to stock including locking bootloader? Returning to 4.4.4. is ok, I'm sending the phone back to USA anyway
I'll be extremly greateful for help.
Br,
Piecho
Just flash back to stock relock bootloader.
You need the nexus 5 toolkit .

Reflash stock rom then return it as it is. Google does not care about have the bootloader unlocked or not.
Don't use any toolkit learn the proper commands and do it manually. The Google factory images page gives you step by step instructions. Like said before, Google doesn't care about unlocked boot loader. The factory images page even tells you to unlock, flash, then relock lol

[Q] help! 3of5 unlock attempts failed with RIGHT number

Have a samsung galaxy s1 i897 'captivate' from at&t phone.
Phone originally bought outright, didn't use for years, now trying to unlock so that a friend can use it.
First updated to the pacrom custom rom with kitkat 4.4 (is this part of the problem??) to test/be sure it would work before reenabling the phone. Got the unlock code from at&t - copied it exactly and it's FAILED now 3 times in a row, afraid to touch it with two left.
Is being under 4.4 part of the problem/does it have to have factory rom?
Asked some samsung people who suggested it may need to flash back to the original factory rom, but even thats not enough, mentioned "triangle" to "set back the clock" to pretend it's never been rooted or run a newer OS. Suggested it should then unlock. But also suggested certain Samsungs of this era were notorious for just not unlocking even with everything perfect which is why I was asking here before using up my last 2 attempts.
Does this all sound right/can only unlock the phone from the original factory ROM and OS version? Once unlocked when I update to PacRom/kitkat 4.4 I assume it stays unlocked or will it create a problem somehow?
If for some reason the last remaining 2 chances bite it, I assume this is what people normally mean by bricked and hopefully there's a recovery process or does locked to at&t forever really mean that?

Forgot pattern lock and unable to unlock bootloader

I hope everyone is doing well. I have an android phone Motorola Moto G(1st generation). I have been using it for 3 years, everything was fine until last week and, when I changed and forgot my lock pattern. Since its lollipop, there is no option of forgot pattern. I was guided from Internet to reset the phone, I tried that but discovered that there was no recovery installed in it, so it cannot be hard reset. I looked for methods to install recovery, it says phone bootloader needs to be uncooked for that. I tried unlocking it on Motorola website, but it says phone is not eligible for the unlock. I am not sure why is this not eligible for unlock. I bought it from Amazon, an unlocked and international edition. Does anyone have any experience or insight to offer what can I do with my mobile now?
I have the same problem when i try to unlock my bootloader, i try many times before to give the code. And then i can unlock the bootloader

When I boot into fastboot, I get an option for factory reset. But I assume you tried that one already?

i was using my phone(its never rooted or try to experiment something its just a original factory setted piece) and suddenly my moto g2 gets switched off and when I try to switch it on a black color screen came with just a message saying "AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)"
Please help me with this
I have tried to unlock the bootloader I got the unlock code from motorola and when iam using the next query "fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxx......." then error comes invalid unlock data
please help me in making my phone normal with back to stock rom
Thats a lot, sometimes the most easiest answer is just return the phone to carrier if under Warrenty. If not under Warrenty get another phone, sometimes we might not be able to buy new phone .
Then comes the headache of solving the question ??if rooted, easy install new ROM that works with your phone.
If not rooted then no Warrenty then root device, find other users that have rooted your device. I know I always find the most complicated answer to the simplest question by posting and asking other users. I wish you luck in finding your answer dont forget to share your answer and experience .
