Nvidia streaming limit - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there anyway to remove the streaming limit from playing games on the shield from the nvidia app? Like tomb raider, fortnite, etc.

I’m guessing there isn’t thanks...

[Q] How to play 720p/AC3 properly

From sd:
Whats the current common way to play 720p mkv with AC3 Audio.
I either get good video with no sound (hw decode) or choppy video with sound (sw decode)
i tried moboplayer, default player and rockplayer (i think)
the only player that plays it properly is diceplayer but its a 3 day trial.
Is there no easy way to play a 720p/ac3 video?
Streaming:
I have a 300mbit wireless at home, works perfectly with laptop<->desktop
No matter what i try with the eee pad, videoplayback is choppy when streaming it.
i tried mynet and those 2 other upnp clients that are out there using ps3mediaserver on my desktop (ushare, gmediaserver were not "seen" from the eee pad)
Whats the current common way to stream media?
Is there a way to play from nfs share at all? Or at least samba?

If you want to root your device, cifs is pretty common and reliable.
Revolver and Prime both include this feature as part of their rom. I don't have any experience with other roms.
Also, I switched to using mxplayer, i like how it has the ability to switch rendering modes from the play screen.
Thanks for the cif thingie, i am going to look that up.
MX player wont play ac3 audio in hw decode :/
For playback buy dice placer from the market. There is no better app for videos.
Streaming and watching HD videos is very difficult. Tegra 2's Videodecoder is very average at best. When you copy something to your device the android is using the cpu. For HD Videos with High Profile you need nearly all cpu power of the Tegra 2. When you streaming at the same time, you can run in performance and transfer problems because of the 1000Mhz. So you should overclock the cpu for a better experience.

10800 mp4 20fpm will not play on Playstation

I can't seem to play my mp4 videos on my ps3? Anyone run into this issue...i though ps3 could play mp4 no problem. It used to play my old Desire Hd videos no problem but now it wont. Anyone have any ideas.....

Streaming to Twitch with the Shield

Has anyone tried streaming with the shield?
Surprisingly, it actually makes a fairly decent streaming device, I've been using Kainy to stream my desktop to the tablet, and then broadcasting it to twitch. I think there is a tiny bit of audio delay and that's about it. The front-facing cam is also used as a webcam on the stream, can be switched on and off.
Anyone else had any experience with it, if so, what do you think?
Its worked well for me. The only issue seems to be with the more intensive Android based games, like HL2, where ocassionally it skips frames or stutters. However ive used it to stream gamestream of Batman AC and that worked without issue. Ive also streamed Trine 2 (rarely a stutter) and some emulator action with Gameboy and NES games without issue.
Very impressed so far with the streaming abilities. Nice for sharing despite me not being huge into streaming everything i play.

Adding audio libraries to VR player?

I am getting a bit sick and tired of messing around with my media server trying to get videos to work that play fine on all my other devices.
Got the Quest to play some games every now and then, but mainly to be able to watch my 3D movies again after my TV went up in smoke.
I am wondering:
Is it possible to somehow add the required libraries to the Gallery app or the discontinued Samsung VR player so videos with more than 2 channels can be watched with sound?
Otherwise I would have wasted almost 3 weeks of ripping my DVD's onto the server as of course I only converted them into MKV's while keeping all extras, like DTS and AC3 audio channels instead of converting to AAC or MP3.
I know you can modify apps for almost anything, but have no real clue how to "just" add some required audio libraries to an app
Just stumbled on this..
Here's my 2cents.
Not sure why you would be having struggles.
My setup;-
Asus RT-AC88u - USB 3.0 1TB Hard Drive connected - Running as a NAS
Connect with any device, including Oculus Quest vi same wifi network.
Stream 3D movies , others via SkyBox
Works great

Fire Cube / Stick enabling passthrough of DTS/all audio?

Hi all,
New to the forums, wonder if anyone could help?
(Have had a search but not able to find a definitive answer, apologies if I've missed something)
Does anyone know if there is a way (custom rom/sideload etc) to enable DTS (inc DTS-X/HD) as well as other audio formats to be passed-through on the Amazon Fire Stick or Cube?
Reason I'm asking is that I have a surround Samsung soundbar which is capable of decoding pretty much all of the audio sources chucked at it (Atmos, DTS, Lossless versions of these etc) and I'd like a cost effective way to stream videos with these audio types in them.
Conscious that the Fire (stick/cube) out of the box doesn't support DTS. I've looked at the Nvidia Shield and ATV4K but the Fire is quite a bit cheaper.
I plan to use Plex or something similar to host the media.
Many Thanks
