Trying to improve my hotspot for my PlayStation 4 connection - Google Pixel 3 Questions & Answers

Can anybody help me out here please, as you can see my hotspot speed from my pixel 3 is atrocious. I get about 417kbps down and 1.4mbps up. I don't understand this when my speed test show I'm pushing over 65mbps. I found a port forwarding app which is call fwd port forwarding in the app market to try to see if I can give port forwarding a try but the app won't allow me to open port 80 & 443 for my PS4 I guess I also need a server running with that app separately. I didn't root this phone yet in hopes hoping I can improve my hotspot speed without rooting it. Can anybody help me with this issue please I can't enjoy my PlayStation online at all until I can fix this issue.

The ps4 connection speed test is junk in my experience. I have a 400/25 connection using ethernet on the ps4 pro and it tells me its a 38/4 during the test. So i'd check download speed by trying to download something.

I know you said you hadn't rooted yet, but I'm at a loss.. without Root... but if you decide to Root... You could try a custom Kernel and change the TCP congestion control algorithms.

I can definitely root it if I need to. Let me ask you if rooted does changing the TCP control allows I guess higher demands for speeds via tether. It's this PlayStation 4 the way Sony built it. I didn't try other devices yet to see a speed test but PlayStation 4 will only take like a crump of data out of over 60-100mbps download and convert it to 350-660kbps in data and that right there drives me insane. But I'm definitely willing to root it to modify this process and try it out. Can you give me the guide for modifying TCP and I'll look for the guide somewhere on this Internet for rooting my Google pixel 3

Sorry Stryker I didn't see your comment earlier. At least you can do it via Ethernet cable. I can't do it like that until I have it back in the house i drive trucks so I took my PS4 on the road with me. The crazy part i notice it'll connect me to the game server at about no less then 550kbps but I'm quite sure it's something around the net I just don't know what it is that would increase the download capacity for the PS4

Sorry man, I wish I knew. I just know that when tethering, the phones data connection takes priority over the tethered devices. Trying different TCP Algorithms may allow the tethered connection to use more of that available bandwidth. Also, your PS4 may "prefer" one TCP setting over the others... its worth a shot.

As for a guide... once you've applied a Kernel (there's a few to choose from: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3/development)
Download Kernel Adiutor. from this app, you can modify the TCP Algorithm, under "Network" in "misc." section.

Oh wwooww I found the critical part. I thought it was my PS4 with these terrible download and upload speeds I just look at my plan and look real close next to hotspot in the pic. That's why my PS4 suffering a very lack of data speeds. Is there a hotspot here that developers made for rooted Pixel 3. I would have to pay more to get the full 4G LTE hotspot. I'm sure 1 of the developers here has to make something to bypass this for rooted phones if so I'm getting rooted now

Oh, wow... this makes sense. I wonder if by you adding the build.prop line: net.tethering.noprovisioning=true will skip checking for provisioning, not giving your carrier the option to differentiate tethered data, therefore not limiting you.
Source: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/help/net-tethering-noprovisioningtrue-counts-t3685750
There's also a possibility to go undetected, un-throttled using one of the VPN hotspot apps. this would be easy to try. (no root required)
Try FoxFi... let us know.

Firefox never worked for me. I did took the upgrade plan to check out the speeds and yes I was getting over 27mbps in download. After using 15GB data usage on the hotspot they throttle it down to 600kbps. Is there any app that chainfire or any of the developers on here made that will bypass the throttle hotspot detection. I'll root my phone if I need to. Just guide me to the right path to bypass this if you can please

htc evo root and wireless tether

Hi wondering if its possible to root and use wireless tether for the new htc evo. I see they have the hotspot installed but its a monthly fee service. Can I use the wireless tether like I use to on the hero?
Thanks
much like sublimenal above, I'm new to XDA, and I'm jumping in because this is the place to be for the How-to.
Can someone direct me as to where to read up specifically on the the EVO root and tether process? Am I jumping the gun, and there is a walkthrough in development?
Regardless, thank you ahead.
Hey there, actually i just did it yesterday. It was extremly simlple, nothing like rooting the hero and took me about 3 minutes total lol. Here is the process.
1. on your phone go to http://unrevoked.com/m/
2. download the apk file
3. install the apk file and click start
4. you are rooted!
5. go to this url and scan the code with barcode scanner http://code.google.com/p/android-wi...name=wireless_tether_2_0_2-pre14.apk&can=2&q=
6. install the tether app
7 run the tether app and your solid!
foserious? Man! THANK YOU!
I'm gonna do this right now!
Yeah I couldn't believe it, the hero took me a few hours to figure out how to root/tether even with the tutorials. This was extremely simple, i guess it works for the hero as well but only if you didn't install the 2.1 update.
man, thank you so much. Everything went awesomely.
Now it's time for me to donate to these code commanders.

whats wrong.
Why is everyone's evo working on tether and mine i always have problems. If its that simple i would think mine would work.I got tether running and says limited connectivity on my laptop. Also i downloaded the tether on the market place.Could that be the wrong tether...??
please check your tether log, and post any pertinent info.
Also, does your laptop identify the connection as Ad Hoc? What IP does your laptop get if any? Are you using any features with tether like WEP?
Details plz.
Thank you..................
I want to thank everyone that has helped me figure everything out.Just a few things i need to know.
1. Can sprint find out your using tether?
2. Are there settings i can adjust so no one can use tether but me?That way not anybody can connect to it?
3.When using tether,is it best to turn on 4g or is it okay with 3g running?
4. Can i connect more then one device using tether??
Thank you all...
Step 5
Ok i clicked on the url to scan the code and the page wont load. Any suggestions, or maybe different link? I got a 502 server error.
please help..newby...
hi all..please dont be hard on too hard on me for not being a "tech wizard" but I have a couple of questions..I just bought the EVO and I am new to android OS I have always been a windows user so I am pretty clueless on how the android operating system really works my main concern is being able to tether with the EVO with my TP2 I was able to use walking hotspot which now I cant use with android and pda.net which I cant use with my Ipad unless my android device is rooted.can someone post step by step instructions on how to "root" to be able to tether and also if there is a way to "back up" my info just incase something happens.and what to do if I want to restart the phones to the original factory settings just incase I decide to return the device within my 30 day trial..I am hoping all the battery tricks work and I am able to tether with out a problem if not this baby is going back to the store..thanks and I apologize in advance for my ignorance with this topic.I have owned windows mobile devices since it was first introduced so I am clueless to anything else
I'd start by looking in the correct forum or using search.

Sprint monitors data usage, however if you look at your bill the extra $10usd that you are paying gives you unlimited data usage on 3g and 4g. Just be aware that Sprint has reserved the right to throttle down your bandwidth.

Connect to adhoc Wifi network

Hi,
I need the captivate to be able to connect to a adhoc wifi network created using my laptop. However, android doesn't seem to be supporting it, just access point networks. Has anyone tried this, any success?
Searching revealed one thread where a guy modified some code on an htc phone, and got it to work, but seemed a little dated. Not sure if that would work with the android 2.1 and the Samsung phone.
Help appreciated.
The Captivate can connect to ad-hoc networks, but not through the native GUI interface. I tested mine via adb shell issuing some iwconfig commands via script to connect to a MyWi router on a friend's iPad. It's buggy, to say the least..

agentdr8,
Thanks for the reply.
Care to share details on the commands you ran? Or are you saying it's not worth it because it's so buggy?
thanks
To avoid a hard lockup, start with the wifi turned off. I tested it numerous times with it already on, and it resulted in a battery pull.
You'll need busybox 1.7x (maybe 1.8x will work too?). You'll also need a working iwconfig binary (I symlinked mine from the WifiTether app dir: /data/ext2data/data/android.tether/bin to /system/xbin)
With an adb shell, try something like this:
$ su
# /system/xbin/ifconfig eth0 up
# /system/xbin/iwconfig eth0 mode ad-hoc
# /system/xbin/iwconfig eth0 essid YourEssidHere
# /system/xbin/iwconfig eth0 key WEPkeyhere
Now with wifi turned off, these commands will all error since the interface is down/off (eth0 is the wifi, at least on my Cap). Turn your wifi on and rerun the same commands, followed by:
# netcfg eth0 dhcp
This may or may not error out, but ultimately, you should see a dhcp address for eth0 as handed out by your dhcp server/mywi device.
You may need to also manually add the ad-hoc network in the GUI with its key. I can't remember if I needed that or not, but with it I can see the connection status and when it's grabbing the IP. Even shows connected and signal strength once it does connect (assuming it doesn't lockup).
agent can you help me pls. Im a newbie still.
Do i run all those commands in windows when my phone is connected or do i run it through something like terminal emulator an app on the phone??
You can either use adb shell on your Windows machine (part of the Android SDK), or you can use a terminal on the device itself (ConnectBot is my preferred). Your phone needs to be rooted if it isn't already.
Okay, I'll try out the connectbot. Can you tell me how to do this part then if it's needed??
"You'll also need a working iwconfig binary (I symlinked mine from the WifiTether app dir: /data/ext2data/data/android.tether/bin to /system/xbin)"
how do you do this symlinked part?? I don't really understand it.
I tried ur commands without doing the symlinked part....everything just returned a "not found" message.
Maybe you could give me a dumbed down step by step way of doing this hahahaha??? Im rooted and i have busybox 1.7x, just missing the working iwconfig because im not really sure what it is.
If you're not too familiar with linux commands, it would be best to wait for someone to build a widget/GUI app around this, as poking around in a root shell on your phone is never a good idea if you're not aware of the potential consequences of blindly running commands.
It's possible that with the Froyo update adhoc connections may just work as intended, not that I've read anything that suggests that.

Okay, i'll go look for it though a link would help.
Maybe i'll just wait until something like Cyanogens ROM comes, i hear it usually comes with ad-hoc connectivity.

only problem is it's compiled for froyo and i think geared towards the Desire according to the replies.
I feel like it might mess up my captivate
Well if you're computer is windows7 you can use a program called conectify.
It makes win7's adhoc networks work as real hotspots

Issue isn't on iPhone-end, nor wpa-supplicant end (as the wpa-supplicant binary included in the android wireless tether app has this ability).
The problem is the GUI end of things (i.e., settings.apk) ALSO filters the results.
So it goes beyond simpy modifying the wpa-applicant (yes; this is sufficient for the basic-functionality), but is very crude & diffcult to do on the go from the tiny terminal emulator, etc.
What I've personally been looking for, is an update that modifies the neceasary files, and enables this extewmely useful function.
Something similar to the update package posted for the froyo-build, but instead for the ECLAIR-2.1 build of the captivate.
If anyone knows of anything availible like I'm describing (a GUI-centered mod that will remove ALL the STUPID damn (pardon language lol) IBSS filtration form the settings.apk, wpa-supplicant, wireless configuration files, etc for the ECLAIR-2.1 build of the Captivate so that it JUST WORKS lol -- this way we can SEE and CONNECT via our native GUI .
I've gotten this to work through running command line / configuration file hacks, but it's very messy/annoying AND to make things MORE annoying, once you've put it into Ad-hoc mode and have it all setup very nicely, guess what? The settings.apk application (which is needed to load the device into kernel), will actually COMPLETELY UNDO all the tedious command line efforts you've just made, and takes the wifi chip out of Ad-hoc mode every x amount of minutes! ARGH!! LOL!
Anyway, I've gone through the source code and patch diff's myself and it really doesn't seem very involved. I actually was planning on compiling the necessary modded binary (making a nice update.zip for all the frustrated captivate owners like myself lol), but I simply haven't had the time to setup the build environment for it at the moment (have several other build environments I'm juggling as it is with work).
Anyway, I apologize for the rant lol -- I just wanted to clarify exactly what is needed and point out it really wouldn't be much work (and would be VERY much appreciated!!!!) if someone with the skill, time, and a build environment for the galaxy s (captivate, speifically lol , could post an eclair mod for us -- you would receive AN ENORMOUS amount of praise & thanks lol .
OR -- if someone who has a little time, could simply modify the android wireless-tether-app to have one extra feature, 'connect to ad-hoc network' lol . This would also be ideal, as it already fully supports the initialization & loading of the captivate wireless driver properly, and can fully manage the interface & connections while running in the background (independent of settings.apk). PLUS -- it even already has full ad-hoc support built into it's own pre-packaged wpa-supplicant. Basically, all the hard work has already been done with the wireless-tether-app, just need a few extra functions to handle scanning for networks and connecting to them (relatively simple, considering they've already done ALL the hard work..lol)..
Okay, my rant is officially done! Lol! I just hope this helps those who have the capability to help, give a clear picture of all that's required. It's late, so some of this stuff may have already been mentioned and I missed it! Shoot, maybe someone just finished doing exactly what I just went on & on about? Lol.
In any case, if anyone is willing to help out -- or already knows of a solution already out there I've missed -- PLEASE let me' know! This functionality would truly help a great deal in my day to day work with my captivate! Thanks in advance!!!
holy need a bump batman!
i would really like this too!

Feature Request PPTP

Would one of the Dev's be willing to tackle getting VPN PPTP with encryption (mppe 128 or 256) working on the G-Tab? Right now it is either not working or working as unsecured PPTP (depending on the ROM). If anyone knows of a ROM where this is functional please let me know.
What little I have found on the history of VPN in android indicates that the last version with encrypted PPTP was version 1.6. Google was having problems keeping a connection to the VPN server.
Reference: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=4706
For myself and my coworkers this has become an important need. If we can't get the feature we may be forced to get iPads (*cringe*). I for one am willing to make donations to Dev(s) who can add this. Some ROMs have the option but seem to be lacking the module (unconfirmed) to handle encryption through the included PPPD.
It is possible this may come back in Android 3.0 since it is geared toward tablets but I haven't been able to find any information either way.
Thank you for your time.

Did you try one of clemsyn's latest kernels - they have the tun support. Also on market place there is an OpenVPN app that attempts to install an openvpn binary - that same dev also has an OpenVPN settings app that you can use to create your tunnel. Perhaps that will work for you.

I can currently get a VPN connection, but the server refuses it because it isn't encrypted - even with the encryption option on. I'll try clemsyn's kernel. I noticed he posted one specific to the ZTab ROM recently.

No luck. Tried the new kernel and still get the same error. G-Tab shows connection lost. Server log shows same error (port 47 blocked or unable to negotiate encryption). Since our laptops all work I'm going to assume port 47 isn't blocked on our network. Maybe not enabled on G-Tab?
Which ROM are you using?
EDIT: nevermind - I see zpad rom. Did you try the vegan rom or tnt rom?
I am setting up a server with two cards and windows server 8 and an accesible ip just as test lab for this. If any dev wants access pm me.

Brillant! I have a connection! From home even. Many Thanks! (but I can only hit the button once...)
I'll keep an eye on it and see how long the connection lasts. That seemed to be the bug that killed Google's interest in this. With luck it wont show because someone tweaked over it.
I'll spread the word. Thanks again!!
Update: Unfortunately the data traffic stops within a minute. The connection stays up and reports a server connection just no data passes. This is the same issue as Google has in it's bug report. I"ll look at the server logs in the morning to see if anything is reported, but it is at least a step in the right direction.
BTW: The GUI seems a bit faster. Were there any other tweaks in that kernel?

I might have to take a pause on this since I'm having issues with my Gtab at the moment. My screen turned white and I can't see a thing. I was playing angry birds and noticed that my screen sensitivity turned bad and a few seconds later it turned all white. I might have to get a replacement for my Gtab
I can build the kernel for Vegan tab but there is no way for me to test it but it should work fine
I read a post that doing this might fix it:
Add the following to /etc/pptpd.conf
mru 1280
mtu 1280
Please try and see how it goes.
More Info
I had our network admin look at the VPN server logs for my connection. No errors or warning from the server.
One interesting thing to note, it seems that when the data transfer between the tab and the VPN server stops it's only one way. I was able to send mail out from the tab, but not receive mail or view web pages. I'm wondering if the decryption side (incoming to tab) of MPPe is broken. That could explain why the server keeps a connection, but the data flow seems to stop.
Could we steel code from a linux kernel that works?

I don't have a pptpd.conf in /etc. What is the file syntax? I'll make one and copy it in. I'm assuming this is ./etc and not ./system/etc.
Edit: Never mind found info here: http://www.linux.org.au/~quozl/pptp/pptpd.conf.5.html
Edit Edit: Ok I think I have reached the level of my ignorance. How do you get a file copied to /etc? I have tried a file manager with SU permissions, and a terminal with SU permissions. In both cases I am getting a permission denied error. What's the secret?

Upload the file and ill make a zip file for you to flash it.
So close ... I think Google may need to work out a few of their bugs first.
First off a big thanks to clemsyn for the hard work. (I used Root Explorer to copy the file pptp.conf)
Using the latest kernel posted here for VeganTab I was able to connect to a MS PPTP VPN and ping for a long while however just like my Samsung Vibrant the VPN appears to die once a burst of traffic is shot through the tunnel. The tunnel I have discovered is not disconnected but unusable through the Android system. If I disconnect the VPN session remotely the log files indicate that the remote server killed the connection. Not sure much can be done as now I feel I am hampered by Google's inability to care for VPN access. I am sure the developers here can figure this out but why should they have to figure this out when it seems to be a fundamental issue with Google's code. Maybe this disconnection does not happen with OpenVPN? Anybody use it? I am tempted to setup a test OpenVPN server just to see how long I can keep my connection.
BTW ... After remotely killing the VPN connection the VPN services crashes and throws up an exception in the back ground when terminating the service.
Not working. I might try without the encryption in the server side to check if that works. It actually connects (pings) a couple of seconds with the LAN computers... then it nevers connects again... even with reboots. Does the pptpd.conf only need those two lines?
I found this site which may help
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=6402
A user stated this:
"Hey! Saw another post elswhere in the forum. For Microsoft VPN using PPTP, I think it helps to disable Software Compression in Routing and Remote Access Manager on the Windows server hosting VPN. After I did that, I was able to connect to VPN.
In Routing and Remote Access Manager, right click on the server in the tree and select Properties. Then, under the PPP tab, uncheck Software Compression. I am the Sys Admin at my Co, so I was able to do this myself. Others may have to submit a request to your respective Sys Admins. Besides, who uses compression on VPN's since the death of Dial-up?
Good Luck!"

[Q] Mobile Access Point?

My previous phone was a Captivate. I know by flashing Paragon you can use the phone as a Mobile Access Point. By doing this I basically made the phone a mobile wifi hub.
Is that a possibility with the Skyrocket?
Is there any way I can implement that now?

You can do it easily with the Stock ROM, Root, and Titanium Backup. All you have to do is "freeze" the Tethering Manager apk and then you can use the Wifi Sharing which is directly built into Gingerbread. Be careful of your carrier's snooping.
assuming you have at&t, you can use various apps to use the phone as WiFi hotspot. Be careful at&t is catching up with many apps and are billing there customers with tethering fee. Alternatively you're phone already has tethering built in. When using a custom ROM like CM7 tethering is hidden from your carrier.
I dont understand why AT&T feels it necessary to retard their phones just to milk their customers.
I understand they are greedy money-hoarding automatons, but really? If you're going to provide a phone service, provide service for the entire capability of the phone don't stop half way. I'd anticipate an official response like Dear Customer, It requires money to run these services. We want paychecks. Fork it over.
I'd love to poke holes in that perspective but truth is that it won't get me anywhere at this point in time.
Anyway - thanks for the heads up.

1. Root your phone (guides available if you search)
2. Install Titanium Backup (available in the market)
3. Freeze Tethering Manager (tap on app, and select Freeze)
It really is that simple.

I'm pretty sure AT&T can and does detect tethering/hotspot usage regardless of which ROM you flashed. Not sure the mechanism they use, but it might be their servers pinging your device and seeing TTLs that are greater than 1, or some other packet inspection.
The root/freeze app method works fine, but it won't prevent carrier detection. Cyanogen's Koushik has an alpha app out that purportedly evades detection, but you have to use it in conjunction with a laptop. So, no standalone hotspot with that one.
I said to hell with it and just froze the tethering manager. My plan is on a business account anyway so AT&T can bite me.

You could. That does seem like a great way to chew through your data plan limits in a hurry, though.
I have an unlimited plan. But really just for setup. I got my dada a new TV and it needs a firmware update but it can only get one thru a wifi connection and my dad does not have internet.

[APP][3.21.16] TWC TV - VZW/ADB/HDMI checks removed & watch away from home!!

UPDATE
Development of this app will continue here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-spectrum-tv-aka-twc-tv-t3847520
Thanks for everyone who kept this project going!
Hello here you will find the most recent TWC TV App from the android market... except it has ALL restrictions removed, NO ADB checks, NO proxy checks, NO HDMI checks, NO ROOT checks, and best of all, a method to watch ALL the channels while you're away from home, not just SOME of the channels TWC let's you watch; this can be viewed over 3g/4g/wifi... hell even 1x lol.
NOW the part I like... and maybe the reason why the root check was implemented by TWC.... you can actually WATCH live TV on any wifi, 3g/4G network away from your home! all you need is a few tools and you're on your way.... if this is of no interest to you then just scroll down to the download link
To watch outside of the home network:
Install a proxy server on a machine inside your network (a computer that can play live tv from twctv.com successfully)
I use wingate FREE edition (http://wingate.com)
Make sure you configure your router to forward traffic on that port to your machine
as a side note, make sure you assign a static IP on your local machine so your router doesn't get confused
also make sure you go to whatsmyip.org and get your external IP address (as you'll need this for the android side)
Install an app from the android market called "Auto Proxy (ROOT)"
Configure Auto Proxy to connect to your machine... here you will enter the IP you got earlier from your home machine and the port you chose when you configured wingate...
Now activate AutoProxy and all traffic will be routed through your home computer (all apps, etc...) meaning when you use the timewarner app it will think you're inside your home network!!
Make sure you turn it off once you're done watching TV, otherwise you will be consuming all of your upload bandwidth and also slow down your speeds since it has to go through the proxy...
Profit!!
Some Notes:
This app should work on any phone with gingerbread and up. (Tested myself)
Feel free to donate It took me a while to learn how to do this and it took alot endless nights
I think i should also point out that I didn't use anyone else's code to do this; I'm a lone developer and just like the challenge
I am also working on a workaround to the proxy thing... a way to watch Live TV on your cellular network alone... no proxy required (I make no promises but i'm looking into it and hopefully I'll come up with something)
I'll also try to release a new version if updates are released... try and keep everything current
Questions? need a more detailed guide or anything else? just ask! I'm here to help ... (but see post #2 first)
The 3.21.14 app would not be possible without GreenNasty... THANKS!

Bug List
APP Version 3.2#44: Some users report that HD doesn't work as well with the new app. Time Warner did alot of changes due to the move to streaming away from home, that means that they definetely could have messed something up.... if HD is not working properly for you and want to try the previous version (2.6#36) feel free to download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?s3evtfhdedy3061
If you wish to decompile the app yourself, i have included comments in most of the important parts of the code that i modified... i will admin, they are HARD to understand and modify, but if you're looking to do it yourself in the future, I've helped you out
Issues/Troubleshooting
If you have tried this app and it does not work for you then i need the following information:
are you using the proxy instructions I mentioned or using the app using your home network?
MAKE SURE your device is rooted
if you are then please test it on your home network first and make sure it works (whithout ANY proxy, etc...)... if it does then let me know what issues you get when you use wingate and Auto Proxy....
if it does work on your home network but not with the proxy, then please tell me detailed instructions on how you set it up or if you need a guide on how to do so
do you have internet service through time Warner?
what device are you using?
what rom and kernel are you using, and what versions? (if you don't what kernel then just tell me which rom and version and i'll figure it out)
Are you rooted? With Super SU or just SuperUser?
All of the above checked? then i will need a logcat while the app is running Feel free to pm me the logcat ONLY after you have posted what i've requested and I'll let you know to send me a logcat... i don't want to receive random logcats and will ignore them if i haven't seen your information in this thread first!
Logcats can be taken via: adb shell logcat
OR adb shell and then type logcat, you can use the -f parameter to save it to a file rather than copying it from your command prompt to a file...
If there is anything else you think i should know, then please post that as well.... any little bit of information WILL help, trust me
I am committed to help.... but please help me by following the above instructions to make both our lives easier!
Thanks!
Will this work home lan with rooted / adb on ?

I really do not understand why they care if rooted / debugging is turned on?
I mean its at least a little understandable if one has an unlocked
bootloader and running on a non-standard rom.

There is competing theories on why they care... one of the reason i can think of (which i said in the OP) is that you can use a root app to enable traffic tunneling through a proxy (thus circumventing their "home network") restriction
Is this the phone version of the app?? Just wondering because I'm trying to get it to work on my HP Touchpad with CM10 and the signed versions I have found for the tablet are around 5mb and yours its just under 2.
Thanks!
*UPDATE*
Not sure why you version is so much smaller but it works perfectly on my tablet. I have been searching high and low for a fix and this was it. I can't thank you enough!!!

I wish I could, unfortunately that's a problem on the server's end, not the app... sometimes certain channels are unavailable because tw is having an issue on their end.... unless you're getting the error on every channel... right now I think Disney channel is having that issue, is it happening with a lot of channels?

I will happily test it, i picked up a $10 cable from walmart, its a bit short but should do the trick. I managed to poke around in the code myself, dont know what the hell im doing, but thought i would give it a go. Anyway doing a file compare with your version and the stock version, i can see quite a few changes which im sure took quite a bit of time, so i want to say Thank You again!!!

I'm working on it right now.... just wanted to know: do you get an error message when you plug in the HDMI cable anywhere in the app? like even if you're not watching live tv? or only when you're tuned in to a channel?

I heard TWC app have troubles with some checkings with some ROMS maybe removing the checking when that message is shown. Look I tested on iPad, iPod, iPhone and. Samsung Galaxy Tab Android and works perfect but specific the problem is on Amazon Kindle 8.9 with iOs 8.1.4 and others in every channel no some channel is every channel the message and the message appears in no more than 30 seconds, in other words you only have around 30 seconds of video in any channel and the message is shown and other people have the same issues. If you have the code and you can check the message when is shown and remove the condition or if you have the source maybe we can see when the message is shown I can see to have an idea. If you look inside other forums in this webpage there are other people with dame problem in other devices.
Thank you

Can you tell me what specific message comes up? there's different messages that come up for different scenarios, if it's only "this channel is currently unavailable at this time" then i need to know specifics... what device, what android version, rooted or not.... a logcat of the app running would also be nice... I also don't understand what you mean by "iOS 8.1.4", afaik iOS is only on apple devices ... this fix is only applicable to android devices.
Let me know if it's happening to you and let me know the specifics i mentioned and i'll see what i can do about it.
