Hi, until few days ago I was getting 6h of on screen time without a problem(including some gaming), however 4 days ago for no reason i was surprised by having 19% battery left with just 1h20m screen on. It did not deteriorate over time, it was just one night fine and other night I was late to work because 50% was not enough, and it has shut down. Has anyone been affected by something similar? I am using xiaomi.eu rom, and did not make any update during past week. I tried rebooting and wiping cache but it did not help.
Thanks for the feedback!

If anyone is wondering, only reflashing rom helped. To be frank, it helped beyond my expectations, few days ago I got almost 11h SOT with 13% battery left, and currently 8h+ SOT, and still have 33% left, mostly using youtube and gmaps.

To be honest I don't think you should do it if you are still on stock rom(and I assume you are) as you would need to factory reset your phone in order to unlock bootloader(and probably lose warranty), flash recovery and then flash one of custom roms. If you are having similar issues with battery drain, I would first recommend factory resetting your phone, and only then looking into custom software. If you have decided to go for it I would recommend following this guide: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/how-to-flash-xiaomi-eu-rom-tutorial.40557/ and getting xiaomi.eu rom.

What ROM are you using at the moment? And some special settings to reduce power consumption without loosing important notifications?
I´'m only about 5 1/2h of SOT.. Using ROS 9.5.29 at the moment.
Thank you very much in advance!
To be honest I don't think 5 hours of SOT is bad. You have SOT where you game hard and screen gives bright light and you have SOT where you watch youtube in a dark room. SOT will be a whole different thing than.
I need help! I have stock rom with locked bootloader and I only get about 4 hours SOT. NO gaming, just some apps and youtube, webbrowsing. I am familiar with unlocking bootloader and flashing twrp recovery. So how can I fix my battery drain problem?

Hey,
because I have fewer than 10 posts so far I can't write in the rom development thread and need to post here although it is the wrong place.
So I installed ViperS 5.1.0 rom on my sensation two days ago and calibrated the battery after loading to 100%. Did two fully discharge/charge cycles after that
Now I let the mobile phone untouched from tonight ~0 am till morning ~6 am and checked the battery stats. It went from 95% to 78% in 6 hours of idle. Wifi and mobile data options were on but it gets automatically disabled over night, atleast it was when I woke up the phone at 6 am the first time.
That's almost 3%/h while at sleep and seems high for me. Anyone running the same rom and can check the consumption?
Thanks in advance.

for example 2-3 more circle charges
then battery will settle down and you will be able to see how it behaves

Do you have a lot of sync to Facebook, Twitter, weather and mail?
You could try to undervolt a bit in tweaks.
Remember to run through a couple of complete charges befor you can see how your battery life is.
And last, perhaps your need a new battery.

I will wait 2-3 more charge cycles then before trying something like UC/UV or even new battery. I hope it won't be needed.

Hi,
I know this subject comes up in a variety of topics and it's really hard to sort the wood from the chaff.
So my "cool story bro" is that I had massively poor battery life following KitKat upgrade and have tried many of those battery saver/greenify apps with no resultant improvement.
I bit the bullet and did a factory reset after I had backed up everything with Kies.
End result is battery life is back to normal today.
Cheers,

Hello, I've had the Note 3 for just under a week and this battery problem is insanely frustrating. Android System uses more than 30% of the battery. I've tried removing the battery, turning off location, wiping the cache and finally doing a factory reset today to no avail. Android System uses around 36% of the battery and AndroidOS uses 11%. I am on N9005 with Kitkat 4.4.2.

Also was the phone new or 2nd hand? Could have a worn out battery in there.

I was going to wait a little before doing another factory reset. On this cycle it went down from 75% to 45% in 3h 20m with Android System using 27% of the battery, Android OS using 11% and the screen using 21% with 1h 49m screen time. Is that right for this phone, or is it discharging too fast?
Thanks.

Depends on what you did with the screen time. Movies would drain it a fair chunk I'd guess. If it's new then surely the Samsung warranty can be used if it does turn out to be the worst case scenario of a bad one (which is very rare so I'd expect we can get this sorted with the help of the community here).

It is normal if u are running android 4.4.2. Android system takes about 20 to 30% of total battery life. You will get similar result although u use the best custom Rom and kernel.
Sent from N9005 Tweaked Rom & Colonex Kernel R22
I have fixed the problem to a degree.. right now Android System takes 19% of battery and Android OS takes up 10%. What worked for me was disabling an app called "Universal Daemon(EUR)" and changed keep wifi on during sleep to never. The phone used to always hover at the 300 Mhz cpu frequency and never go into deep sleep, right now it does go into deep sleep. Tho I think I'm really unsatisifed with Touchwiz I guess I'll eventually root my phone and replace it with something that isn't as much of a resource hog.
Horrible drain for me this night !
I apply exactly the same setting, after my fresh flash. (Disabled GooglePlay Services, Disabled lot of services in Privacy...)
So, clean install, remove uselesswares inside rom, i'm losing 1,3% per hour in idle !

And to compare, i also flashed my LG G3 yesterday, no optimisations, untouched rom, only lost 1% in 10 hours !

Post battery usage screens. Also, do you use greenify? Custom kernel? Dalvik/ART?
If it's draining that much there must be something running constantly in the background while you're idling and hence affecting the battery life.

I did a similar test to you. Last night, I charged my Nexus 5 and OnePlus One up to 100%. I took them both off the charger at the same time, put them both on Airplane mode and went to sleep.
Woke up this morning, N5 on 99% and OPO on 94%, couldn't see anything notably different looking at the battery stats either... Not sure why it is draining so fast!

Yes, but it only takes you 2 minutes to enter your name, nickname, email and password when registering.
To be honest, the problem is not only with the latest software.
I'm using gummy, which has a CM based kernel and even after disabling everything possible (keep awakes in app ops, all syncs, google play service stuf, app feedback and notification data) and with zero apps in foreground and in airplane mode, I'm still loosing ~1% per hour over night.
The device is in deep sleep and wakelock detector doesn't see any wakelocks besides a couple of minutes of "AudioIn" from google search.
It might be even worse on the latest software, but there is a general problem here.
Either it's a driver/kernel problem, or they're just selling really cheap batteries that get worse over time (unlikely, I hope)... Or it could be the double tap to wake/sleep function(going to test that next night).
On the nexus 5 this option was available when using a custom kernel, but the devs added an option that one could use it, but only when turning the screen off by using the double tap to sleep option.
When turning it off with the hardware button, dt2w would be deactivated.
The reason for that was that the device would always have to wait for and register the dt2w, which could drain the battery.
Anyway, this is the last thing I'm going to try and that I am able to test now, if that's not the problem, it has be one of the other two options.
We know one thing for sure - the idle drain was not there before the update, so it means the update introduced it.
If it's because of the proximity sensor for gestures/doubletap/etc. or some other bug - it's unclear at this point in time.
Most likely it's not related to the radio or mobile phone functions, as people report the same increased drain in airplane mode.
25R is fine for me. 4.4.2.
Nightlies are worst concerning battery drain.
30O has same drain as Nightlies, now 4.4.4
So, what is 30O ? Only M9 or Nightly rebadged ?

That's bad news, I was hoping one of the ways to get back to normal battery drain was installing M9... but seems if OP/Cyanogen don't react to this in a few days, the only solution will be reverting to 25R. It's a good thing I made a TWRP backup

Hey guys I know some people know this but some don't.
This works with or without root.
Cell Standby is using a huge amount of juice on some GS6 phones.
To fix:
Hello everyone yesterday I posted my stats and if it would fix, you can find that in my post history. I've been running my phone for over 4 hours and have ZERO mention of cell standby on my battery screen.
The fix was this:
1) turn off phone
2) hold volume up, home button, power button until it boots into recovery
3) wipe cache partition
4) reboot
5) turn ON advanced calling
Give it a day and a full charge.
I am on 18.5 hours with 3% left and almost 4 hours screen on time.
Cell standby significantly dropped drom 30% to 40% and 13 hours battery to
like 15% and 18 hours.
Not sold on the HD calling part.. I will do testing.
I can see Verizon seeing thess phones with bad cahce partitions.
Explains why ODIN to stock helps lol.
I have mine locked to LTE only and I have seen no mention of cell standby in my battery stats.
Edit: I just checked and it is in there but it's not an issue...been getting 18 hours no problem
Here is what I did:
- Set up as new
- Uninstalled DTIgnite
- forced to LTE ALL + VoLTE (Advanced Calling)
- WiFi On when plugged in Only
- Low Priority Locations (GPS Only)

It seems Android 5.0 has Wifi drain issues. Weird because pre 5.0 that was never the issue. I have noticed this on several phones.
Just tried this, hope it works. Any word on Verizon releasing a software update, similar to ATT/Sprint?

I had to do it again on CleanROM as I didn't wipe cache during my flash fire install of the ROM. Just wipe cache ans enjoy. I think advanced calling helps too from what I have seen.

My cell standby is still the biggest battery hog, seems like this only helps in some instances/locations.
Thanks for the info, I haven't been paying attention to battery usage and see that cell standby is taking up a lot of battery. Cache wiped and HD calling enabled, will keep an eye on it moving forward.

Yes. The app is called SignalCheck Pro.
Quick update, after following the suggestion in the OP, Cell Standby is only showing 2% and I'm halfway through my battery life, been off the charger now for 16.5 hours. Google Services is up at the top. Thanks for the tip!
Has anyone noticed a decrease in battery life after upgrading to Android (8.0) Oreo?
After updating the phone has decreased the durability in the battery, at least 35% less duration compared to Android nougat (7.1.2), even up to 50% less duration at times.
I have 2 devices, both TA-1025 and have the same situation, intense battery drain, just open the camera app and take 1 or 2 photos and reduce the battery by 6%.
Is someone else having the same problems in Nokia 6?
Unfortunately, but also I have it but on TA-1033. I used Oreo beta before and the battery lasted longer.
Wysłane z mojego TA-1033 przy użyciu Tapatalka
Did not notice any difference. Battery lasts 48-50 hours with my usage, approx 5h of screen time. I don't play games and don't shoot photos.
P.S. Tried shooting photos. Left camera open for 10 mins and was keeping screen awake by focusing and shooting, battery drained 3%.
Same here. I got the TA-1033 and after the oreo upgrade i noticed higher battery consumption. Use an app for a couple of minutes and battery is down by 2-3%. Tried to manage apps through battery management but not much happened.
Nice upgrade but the battery consumption is major problem. Made me look for ways to downgrade
If you haven't factory reset since taking Oreo you will have battery decrease. Factory reset and wait a day or two and it will be back to where it was.
There is 3 reason
1. random reboot
Means, if u notice that the btry is draining fast, just close all apps and reboot your device
2. Display DPI

Hi,
I experienced a big battery drain after upgrading the Nokia 6 TA-1033 to Oreo. A fully charged battery would completely discharge in 2 hours!
I downgraded by flashing Mena firmware back to Nougat 7.1
Same problem. So for me, it's a hardware component which is in fault. Most surprising is that this happens after an Oreo upgrade. Looks like the Oreo upgrade triggers a giant current leak, which is irremediable. That's why so many people experience this, even after a factory reset. So now I'm going to get informed on how this can be solved - or not - from hardware side.
