Android oreo battery life decrease - Nokia 6 Guides, News, & Discussion

Has anyone noticed a decrease in battery life after upgrading to Android (8.0) Oreo?
After updating the phone has decreased the durability in the battery, at least 35% less duration compared to Android nougat (7.1.2), even up to 50% less duration at times.
I have 2 devices, both TA-1025 and have the same situation, intense battery drain, just open the camera app and take 1 or 2 photos and reduce the battery by 6%.
Is someone else having the same problems in Nokia 6?

Unfortunately, but also I have it but on TA-1033. I used Oreo beta before and the battery lasted longer.
Wysłane z mojego TA-1033 przy użyciu Tapatalka

Did not notice any difference. Battery lasts 48-50 hours with my usage, approx 5h of screen time. I don't play games and don't shoot photos.
P.S. Tried shooting photos. Left camera open for 10 mins and was keeping screen awake by focusing and shooting, battery drained 3%.

Same here. I got the TA-1033 and after the oreo upgrade i noticed higher battery consumption. Use an app for a couple of minutes and battery is down by 2-3%. Tried to manage apps through battery management but not much happened.
Nice upgrade but the battery consumption is major problem. Made me look for ways to downgrade

If you haven't factory reset since taking Oreo you will have battery decrease. Factory reset and wait a day or two and it will be back to where it was.

There is 3 reason
1. random reboot
Means, if u notice that the btry is draining fast, just close all apps and reboot your device
2. Display DPI
means, there is three display option,
Small, normal and large
Make it normal so it will no longer drain faster
One more thing fixes, the response time of app when it is opened
3. Factory reset
If you upgraded your device nougat to oreo then must make a factory reset
This will help you
Hit thanks button if you find this useful
Happy flashing

I'm on Oreo February patch and for me battery is working fine.

Hi,
I experienced a big battery drain after upgrading the Nokia 6 TA-1033 to Oreo. A fully charged battery would completely discharge in 2 hours!
I downgraded by flashing Mena firmware back to Nougat 7.1
Same problem. So for me, it's a hardware component which is in fault. Most surprising is that this happens after an Oreo upgrade. Looks like the Oreo upgrade triggers a giant current leak, which is irremediable. That's why so many people experience this, even after a factory reset. So now I'm going to get informed on how this can be solved - or not - from hardware side.

Are these drops considered normal? They always happen around the ~30% mark and goes down 3 to 5% per drop, suddenly.
You may use Battery Calibrater. But it is not necessary that it will work, this may also be battery problem. I am facing the same problem since a week. My battery is a year old and now its battery life is reduced much.
Try your luck or google for more about calibrating battery.
Actually my battery life is good as ever, it just seems to be reading the gage wrong.

I have this problem too, and can't find solution. I think it has something to do with rooting the phone, because it happened for me since then

Stock 4.4.4 (I have the 1st gen LTE)
When the battery reaches around 60 ~ 55 % it's starting to update itself every ~5% so I can use my phone intensively for some time, and it will stuck on the same percentage or drop 1-2% and after a while it drops 5% instantly.
Another thing that happens to me is when the battery reaches 95% while charging it's jumping straight to 100% and after a few hours drains to 95% instantly.
This problem doesn't seem to affect battery life, just annoying. I just got 5.5h screen time yesterday.

Prior to 4.4.3 there was a serious bug related to the Battery Sensor. Some measurement quirks where introduced as a result of the fix included in 4.4.3 / 4.4.4. This is what you are seeing and why you are seeing it.

my LTE came with 4.4.3 so I don't think that's the problem, I never had the famous "drop" to 1% only the issues i described before.
Thanks anyway!

According to gsmarena Moto G LTE shipped with Android 4.4.2. The same behaviour occurs with non-LTE Moto G running 4.4.3 or newer - it seems likely that the fix applied there was also included in LTE's 4.4.3 / 4.4.4 firmware.

4.4.2 update and battery life fix

Hi,
I know this subject comes up in a variety of topics and it's really hard to sort the wood from the chaff.
So my "cool story bro" is that I had massively poor battery life following KitKat upgrade and have tried many of those battery saver/greenify apps with no resultant improvement.
I bit the bullet and did a factory reset after I had backed up everything with Kies.
End result is battery life is back to normal today.
Cheers,
Joe

I want to do a factory reset but can't backup app data. I've used helium before but half the app data backups were corrupted so I lost them.
Hello, I've had the Note 3 for just under a week and this battery problem is insanely frustrating. Android System uses more than 30% of the battery. I've tried removing the battery, turning off location, wiping the cache and finally doing a factory reset today to no avail. Android System uses around 36% of the battery and AndroidOS uses 11%. I am on N9005 with Kitkat 4.4.2.

Hi,
I would uninstall all apps you don't desperately need and then do another factory reset. Have you put a lot on it?
Also was the phone new or 2nd hand? Could have a worn out battery in there.

It's brand new. But I got it from another country and can not return it. And no I have nothing on it except a few images taken with the camera from the past few days and they're on dropbox.
I was going to wait a little before doing another factory reset. On this cycle it went down from 75% to 45% in 3h 20m with Android System using 27% of the battery, Android OS using 11% and the screen using 21% with 1h 49m screen time. Is that right for this phone, or is it discharging too fast?
Thanks.

Depends on what you did with the screen time. Movies would drain it a fair chunk I'd guess. If it's new then surely the Samsung warranty can be used if it does turn out to be the worst case scenario of a bad one (which is very rare so I'd expect we can get this sorted with the help of the community here).

It is normal if u are running android 4.4.2. Android system takes about 20 to 30% of total battery life. You will get similar result although u use the best custom Rom and kernel.
Sent from N9005 Tweaked Rom & Colonex Kernel R22
I have fixed the problem to a degree.. right now Android System takes 19% of battery and Android OS takes up 10%. What worked for me was disabling an app called "Universal Daemon(EUR)" and changed keep wifi on during sleep to never. The phone used to always hover at the 300 Mhz cpu frequency and never go into deep sleep, right now it does go into deep sleep. Tho I think I'm really unsatisifed with Touchwiz I guess I'll eventually root my phone and replace it with something that isn't as much of a resource hog.

Enormous battery drain by android system

Hi, until few days ago I was getting 6h of on screen time without a problem(including some gaming), however 4 days ago for no reason i was surprised by having 19% battery left with just 1h20m screen on. It did not deteriorate over time, it was just one night fine and other night I was late to work because 50% was not enough, and it has shut down. Has anyone been affected by something similar? I am using xiaomi.eu rom, and did not make any update during past week. I tried rebooting and wiping cache but it did not help.
Thanks for the feedback!

To be honest I don't think you should do it if you are still on stock rom(and I assume you are) as you would need to factory reset your phone in order to unlock bootloader(and probably lose warranty), flash recovery and then flash one of custom roms. If you are having similar issues with battery drain, I would first recommend factory resetting your phone, and only then looking into custom software. If you have decided to go for it I would recommend following this guide: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/how-to-flash-xiaomi-eu-rom-tutorial.40557/ and getting xiaomi.eu rom.

What ROM are you using at the moment? And some special settings to reduce power consumption without loosing important notifications?
I´'m only about 5 1/2h of SOT.. Using ROS 9.5.29 at the moment.
Thank you very much in advance!
To be honest I don't think 5 hours of SOT is bad. You have SOT where you game hard and screen gives bright light and you have SOT where you watch youtube in a dark room. SOT will be a whole different thing than.
I need help! I have stock rom with locked bootloader and I only get about 4 hours SOT. NO gaming, just some apps and youtube, webbrowsing. I am familiar with unlocking bootloader and flashing twrp recovery. So how can I fix my battery drain problem?

Remaining time left became much lesser than before

I noticed that the remaining time left in my honour view 10 phone became much less than it used to be before. When I fully charge my battery to 100% and then disconnect the charger, the remaining time left used to say about 35 hours or so but now it's about 16 hours. Is this a problem related to battery calibration or what? And how can I get the old remaining time values i used to get back in the days after 100% charge.

Did you get the remaining time as 35 hours in EMUI 9.0 before?
I only get around 14 hours since the day I have updated it from EMUI 8.0 to 9.0.
There is a thread in xda where people warned about battery life while updating to 9.0. But the extra features forced me to upgrade.

When I updated from emui 8 to 9, I decided to reset my phone and start fresh and my battery life was reporting around 35 and my phone was lasting for about 2 days without charge. After I get installing my apps and using emui 9 for 5 months until now, remaining battery left hours after disconnect from charger became much less than ever before and I'm wondering why. Maybe you should try a reset again if that worked previously.
In my case, I haven't done reset since I bought my phone and used to get good battery life in EMUI 8 but it became worse after updating to 9.0. I never got more than 5 hrs of screen on time while it was always above 7 previously.

Question Battery and SOT

I just got my One Plus 9 (LE 2110) today. It came with 16% charge out of the box and I charged it up to 100%.
My battery is now at 15% at 4hrs SOT. I only do facebook and messenger most of the time. I also tested some camera functions for a short period of time.
Is it normal or will it improve on the next charging cycles? Thank you.
I'm on Oxygen OS 11.2.10.10 build btw.

My last SOT is better with 5hr and 30mins. I optimized a bunch of apps. And I don't feel that much heating compared on the 1st time using it.
What is your usual SOT under normal usage?
That's absolutely terrible battery life.

Turning off 120hz and 5G have huge battery gains but even with them on I still get 7-8 hours.
11h14m is the best I have gotten so far (see the screenshot) but I don't push to 0 so I probably would have hit 12h.

I am using OOS 12. The c44 ROM that dropped and then was pulled. You have to manually flash it. I don't have the issues others have complained about so I haven't reverted to OOS 11. The battery is phenomenal, just beware that you will have to go into the settings for apps you want to receive notifications from and enable background battery usage.

Why is it a deal breaker? The phone charges from zero to full in half an hour.
That said, 5G and 120hz are huge drains. You get at least 20% more battery shutting them off.
