I have recently bought a mi note 3 and it has a strange echoing sound during call. The problem is only present during normal call (without earbuds). It seems like the top mic is not turned off during the call and it picks up the sound.
I have tried the following things:
- Reboot
- Factory reset
- Different sim cards
- Turning on off mobil internet
- Calling different persons
- Lowering the call volume
- Calling from third party app
None of this worked. The issue is present during every phone call. No matter where I am or who I call.
Miui version: 10.2.2.0 OCHMIXM Global
Kernel version: 4.4.78
As a last resort I am thinking about rolling back. Do you have any other ideas?
Rooting my phone and changing the following in the build props solved the problem.
persist.audio.speaker.dualmode = false
ro.vendor.audio.sdk.fluencetype = none

I have had this problem for quite some time now and I am at my wits end. I have a Galaxy S5830 which was working fine until end of last December when I decided to change networks Which meant unlocking my beloved Network 3 ACE all went well THEN I decided to flash a rom or 2 seeing as it was also so simple. Perfect . But the problems started when I tried to make a phone call, the call is canceled (CALL ENDED) immediately (EVEN EMERGENCY CALLS ). The phone is not Blocked or any silliness like that, weird thing is.. I can Go online on the phone EVEN Tether to my laptop (iv had friends tethering to it while I'M on it as-well) also SMS works! I have done searches up and down, even Google started asking me to give it up. But i'm determined I just figured I needed some Help from those who know how. (side note: I thought it was the modem since i flashed it to the Indian DDKQ6 changed it to XWKP7 base-band n still no difference) I'm pretty sure its the Dailer that's cooked some how.. also: Status of phone is normal connected to network 02, in-service etc.
Phone: GT-S5830
Vers: 2.3.4
build no. gingerbread.ddkq6
kernel: 2.6.35.7-CL561540 [email protected] #1
baseband: S5830XWKP7
IMEI: i'v been around
Any help would be much appreciated and please don't ask me to try reflash its the first thing i thought of.
Did you solve this issue?
Got the exakt same problem:
"Call ended" immediately after pushing call button. 3G, WiFi, SMS, everything works fine but calls.
IMEI is still visible
I tried following without success:
- SIM works on other phone.
- turned 3G and 2G on/off before call
- turned on/off call forwarding and call rejection
- hide/show caller ID
- factory reset
- different ROMS with different basebands (several stock ROMs; doesn't work neither)
- format data/system/cache
I'm running out of options..I'd be glad for any suggestions.
Thanks!
I installed Skype onto my rooted Galaxy SIII running 4.1.2 and ParanoidAndroid 2.56, my call quality is excellent through my cell line however trying to use Skype for video calls on my device leaves nothing but static on the other end. Even when I stay totally silent, the receiving line will not hear a peep but once I raise my voice, the white noise comes out to wreak havoc and does not stop until I mute the microphone in-call. Un-muting will only bring back the white noise. I can hear my caller just fine, but he cannot hear me. I have tried calling and receiving both ways through Wi-Fi, LTE and 3G connections to no avail.
I have also reset the dalvik cache and fixed permissions, in addition to disabling noise cancellation through the Call Settings on my phone. I'm running the kernel which came with my ROM, which I honestly cannot remember what it is. Would flashing another kernel help with a problem like this or would it only solve issues through my cell number's telephony? I have excellent call quality through my cell phone, but Skype itself leaves nothing but static even when I am not speaking. I would try to clean both my microphone holes on the bottom and the top if the static were to be on my cell telephony but it seems like it is only limited to Skype itself. I may try and back up my ROM through CWM recovery and wipe the system.
Anyone else experience an issue such as this and could give advice?
I use the Skype version found here:

I was having the same problem until I enabled Use MODE_IN_CALL found in the Sound Section of Advanced Settings. Hope this helps!
My Nokia 7 Plus (China Version) just got upgraded to Android P using HMD's official ROM (by copying it to root & install by *#*#874#*#*).
My phone will ring when it receives phone call; it can also make a call & hear the voice.
The problem is, the phone does not show any incoming call prompt, so I cannot "pick up" the call; nor will it show any outgoing call UI, so I cannot end the call.
Any one has any idea what's going on?
BTW all apps updated to latest via Google Play Store. Rebooting tried. SIM 1 slot used.
[Solved] Manually set default app to Phone
Sorry guys, just figured it out by myself. Go to Settings and found that the default app for phone is "None". After setting it to "Phone" manually, everything works fine now.
No calling ui
I'm experiencing the same problem after the pie update,
I can only hear the ringtone but it shows nothing, after the call it notifies me about the calls. Any solutions?
Go to setting>Apps& Notification>Phone>Notification>Incoming Calls>Behaviour>Select "Make Sound and Pop Up On Screen"
Just bought Nokia 5.1 plus yesterday... And I couldn't see the incoming calls..
I did this..
Go to setting>Apps& Notification>Phone>Notification>Incoming Calls
But I can't tap the behaviour option for incoming calls.. please help...
For outgoing, voicemail, etc I can tap the behaviour button.
Every couple days or so, my OnePlus 7 Pro loses its connection to Verizon.
Symptoms:
- VoLTE icon missing
- Mobile data works sometimes
- No SMS / MMS
- Cannot place or receive calls
- Incoming calls ring on caller's side
- Airplane mode and off doesn't fix
- Restart doesn't fix
Only a power off and power on fixes the issue.
Note:
- Verizon added CDMA-less to my account on day 1
- Oxygen OS 9.5.11.GM21AA
- Security patch level: August 1, 2019
What should I try next?
Upon further investigation, this happens after losing cell coverage. Again, the only workaround is power off and power on.
Did you give the airplane mode some time when switching? You should wait at least 10 sec between off and on. This way you force it to reconnect.
To solve this, try a new sim card.
I also got a very strange problem when I just got the device. When VoLTE is on I could not receive calls but I could call out... This was only happening whit one sim card. Long story short, I got myself a new one and my problems where over.
From last 2 days I am having issue with incoming and outgoing calls on my oneplus 6. Network bar shows full 4g network and I can browse internet using mobile data, getting sms frequently (not all the time though) but I cannot make call to anyone and from the other end caller getting my number switched off.
What steps I followed to fix this problem:
1. Reset wifi, mobile & bluetooth
2. Factory reset mobile
3. Changed sim. My sim is perfectly working on other devices though.
4. Changed operating system (android 8.1, android 10, android 11, android 12, android 13).
5. Changed preferred network type by *#*#4635#*#*. Sometimes I could make call but from other ends receiver couldn't hear my voice.
I am getting frustrated after trying all the possible solutions but unable to fix the device. Please someone help me
There is a common HW issue with the network IC, if you tried all the possible SW solutions then most likely you have a HW issue...
Not much you can do apart from replacing that chip or replacing the phone.
