Alpha Omega Rom - Bluetooth and Battery issues? - LG V20 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi guys,
I installed Alpha Omega Rom shortly after getting a used LG V20 and it's been the fastest rom so far!
Issue #1: I've tried a couple different batteries, and it's hard to get a full day's battery life out of the thing. I do make business calls and listen to podcasts/music on it, but I used to do the same on my Galaxy S6 and the battery would usually make it from morning to night without issue. I've cleaned up the phone as much as possible. Anything else i can do?
Issue #2: Quite often, when listening to music via bluetooth to my car stereo, it cuts out quite a bit. It randomly fixes itself for a while but always comes back once a day or more. Any fixes for this?
Thanks !

Generally you need a higher capacity aftermarket battery to last through a day of use, esp on used phone.

[Q] SE LiveView Micro Display

Has anyone tried this device with the Desire?
They're only £50 at most places now. Thought it might be fun to play with, but there are some horrible reviews about it loosing connections and not re-establishing. Someone said that it has to sync with your handset just to display the correct time?
Wondering if anyone has any experiences to share?
Have seen a couple of reviews, none of the reviewers seemed very impressed. In one review (coolsmartphone.com I think), the unit kept randomly disconnecting from the desire used. Was interested myself until I saw how temperamental it was.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Electricpig seemed quite impressed too, but I dont think they tried it with a desire. I like the idea, but the battery life on the desire isn't great as it is, having bluetooth on all the time would kill it i think. And on the liveView I've read battery life is as short as 12 hours...
Think I might have to give it a miss too.
BIG problems..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830734
I have one. Not good with Desire..
well, sometimes it works good, sometimes it doesnt ... the main problem is a connection problem. sometimes it tries to connect every time you press a button on the liveview.
sonyericsson is on its way to publish an update this month ... lets see if it helps
Update out now! Firmware and Market update!
How to update:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/liveviewupdate
More info:
http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/developerwor...-micro-display/
Don't forget to update the app in the phone using Market.
Stable for me.. just need to wait and see.
Got one on order, thought it was worth a punt, will report on the reliability of it once I receive it.

I got one a couple days ago. Its working great with the update. Only issue I've run into is I'm using cm7 and each time the display reconnects to my desire I have to approve the pairing on the phone. I wish there was a way to allow it to auto-pair when in range. Such a pain to have to acknowledge connection on the phone each time!! (just to be clear this happens when I get out of range from my phone, then walk back into range)
How are people finding the battery life?
The reconnect issue must be very annoying!
battery life is fairly decent. about 4+ hours. after the update from Sony and finally moving to CM7 build 13, it's been fantastic.
i only using the watch when driving around on the motorbike, for short periods of time. but, it's a world of difference from pre-update and pre-gingerbread.
remember, the LiveView is really just a fun little toy. don't rely on it for much more than that.
oh also, the plugins are working much more reliably than pre-update.
hello, I've got mine for couple of days. The LV shutdown after only three hours, it is for me not enough!

can you describe these 3 hours? what was your activity level and what apps are you running on the phone/watch?
in this 3 hours i only use the media player controler 45 min. and received one or two mail and sms.
I tried also to uninstall all the plugins,it only increase life time for 30 min.
Mine works fine since I read the threads on this forum regarding which processes to put in my ignore list. In fact, to test initially I disabled My Task Killer and it stayed connected for 2 days, I then ignored the correct processes, including goign into low security mode and ignoring everything to do with liveview. Since then it works great.
Mine lasts a couple of days with normal use. I use it as a remote for winamp at work for about an hour a day and read notifications every 30 mins or so.
An hour of charging every other day does it for me.
There is of course several things that I would like to see improved but it does what is advertised. The access to plugins I feel is way to cumbersome for one thing.
I had several problems with connections in the beginning, some even needed a unpair and the LiveView to be switched of for a day or so. The problem seemed to be that on connecting it tried to connect as my car stereo! After removing all other paired bluetooth devices the connection has been much more stable, though not perfect. The question is how it will behave if I start pairing these other devices again.
Now I loose the connection a couple of times each day but atleast reconnect is painless most of the times with just a few seconds wait.
Because of all the bad reviews and reports I bought mine used and cheap, so for the price I payed there is nothing to complain about.
Apart from being a nice gadget it really is a conversation piece, most people are very interested, and terms me gadget crazy =)
Planning on getting one as well, £42 on pixmania.
But was wondering are there any alternates to this for an android device. Or any other cool pocket devices that connect to the phone
There's a Sony watch that dies some similar things, but it us rather bulky and I am personally nit a fan of the aesthetics. I'd love to see this device get revisions to be thinner, more responsive, clearer and faster. I purchased mine in the hope that it would get these updates in the future. Have to support it now if I want it to be better later.

In your opinion do you think i should buy the Live view or wait a little longer and see if anyone's launching similar products.. (have not seen any news of any other manufacturer making one though )
I would wait..

i bought it yesterday and till now im very satisfied. i updated it yesterday and im running redux rom. it only disconnects when i run any plugin. then i have to turn it off and turn it on again :/ has anyone solved this repairing problem (that repairs automatically not manually)??

[Q] Bluetooth Audio Quality Issues Fix?

Hey guys,
I've just got droid charge last week and I like everything about it (only after rooting and installing Gummycharged), but there is one huge problem for me. Well, it might be 2, but one of them is slightly better with Gummycharged and voodoo lagfix.
Here's the issue - I love listening to music in my car through bluetooth and until recently I've been using my Ipod touch 4g and it has been working flawlessly and music quality was great. Now, once I got the Droid Charge, I've noticed 2 things - every minute or 2 the songs would skip (interrupt), and the sound quality was pretty terrible (mainly with the high end - sounded like tweeters were being overloaded).
Rooting the phone helped with skipping - it now happens once in 10 minutes or so, so that's acceptable, however the sound quality is still pretty horrible. I've looked around on these forums and people had similar issues with quality with their stock phones and most people suggest CyanogenMod. I'm not all that familiar with what different ROMs are available for Charge, but as far as I can tell this one isn't. Does anyone know if there is way to fix/configure the quality of bluetooth transmission on this phone? Is there any mod I can install? Anyone having similar issues?
Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks, but the problem is more fundamental, I suppose. Looks like HTC and Samsung use some custom bluetooth code in their ROMs. Apparently it limits the bitpool value at 32, which makes the audio quality terrible over bluetooth. Surprisingly, everyone knows what the problem is but so far the only reported solution is the cyanogenmod.
Here's more about it:

Wow, nasty and long standing! Glad I didn't buy one of those headsets like I was going to. *sigh*
Hey guys,
I'm running GummyCharged 1.85 w/ the voodoo kernel (pbj) and also getting skips over bluetooth to my car stereo. It's seriously distracting and annoying. My Droid 2 worked flawlessly in this respect, but it seems like any time the Charge does any "thinking" it makes the BT audio skip.
Any hope of a fix for this?
My Charge is stock and I haven't had a chance to try the bluetooth audio streaming yet, but when I plug my phone into my car to listen to music through the aux jack it does the same thing, about once every song it skips. Seems odd. I'll try bluetooth today on my way to school and see what happens. You'd think with Bluetooth 3.0 on board the signal would be strong enough to stream decent quality music...
I can confirm this issue is there and in your face a lot. I tried it on the way to school (about a 40 minute ride), it skipped once or twice every few minutes, no big deal. The quality was acceptable for wireless transfer, nothing to write home about. Not a lot of low end, and just a hint of static and slightly over-boosted highs. However I tried it again on the way home once I realized I had forgotten my aux cable, and it skipped so often I just switched to FM. It was so annoying. I can confirm your suspicions that it seems to happen when the phone is trying to do something. Switching towers, background apps, turning on data and checking traffic with Google Maps really freaked it out, but it was fine once I was done. Kinda sucks for those who wish to use the feature regularly.
Update?
I have a droid charge, and the bluetooth streaming quality really sucks, like the OP pointed out, highs are really bad.
Tried with my friends iphone and it worked flawlessly.
CyanogenMod is still unavailable for the droid charge as far as I can tell.
Is there any other fix that anyone has found that will fix the bluetooth sound quality when streaming music?
Any help or places to look is appreciated.

LG Shine Plus (C710h) post update troubles

Hi all,
I just recently updated my LG Shine Plus from Telus (LG-C710h) to Android 2.3 and my battery life has dropped significantly. Where it used to last more than 12 hours, it now only lasts less than 6 without use. Using Juice Defender has not made a significant improvement.
Is there are way to go back to 2.1 with this phone? (I've played with other ROMs with my old Xperia X10)
Thanks!
Statik
I've done this update on my moms phone and she had some battery problems, jsut pull the battery and replace it, that helped fix hers
I actually had Telus replace the battery and that didn't help it. I looked at Juice Defender some more and it mentioned autokiller (I had been using Advanced Task Killer). I installed autokiller and killed some processes and suddenly the power drain leveled right off and the phone started sleeping again. The battery usage went from a 45 degree decline to almost straight when it wasn't being used. I'm not sure which thing I killed that was doing it, but the phone seems to be running 100% better.
A side symptom which also has disappeared was that SMS messages weren't being received until an SMS was sent out and then all the SMS's would show up. Now, the texts are received withing seconds.
Thanks!
Statik
Thats good it's working better for you, hopefully you get the SMS worked out
Thats just it, the SMS problem is worked out. The autokiller fixed both problems.

Update troubles
Hey everyone, I know it's been a while and my chances of getting a reply are pretty slim, but I have a friend with an LG Shine Plus C710h and she's trying to update her phone from 1.6 ...as someone who frequently updates and has experimented with various ROMs on my previous SE X10 I was astonished that someone hadn't updated their phone from 1.6! unheard of, I know!
And so being the helpful friend that I am I offered to do some searching around for her, but found nothing. Not even the PDF manual I found online gave me the answer I was looking for. So I thought I would try you guys.
tl;dr -- the problem is that the phone will not connect / sync to PC suite. She's looked all through the settings and can't find any way to change it, and with all my internet searching, neither can I (we're not together at the moment, she just called me and asked for help)
Can anyone who owns this phone or has owned it previously give us a hand here?

SW2 and lollipop battery drain

I am causing battery drain after upgrading my phone to Android 5.0.2 - Nameless for Oppo Find 7.
My battery life shrinks from 2-3 days to 1.
I have actually mentioned much faster reaction, but battery life is on the edge of acceptance.
Do you have any idea, or similar experience?
Thanks a lot.

I have the same, less than a day on CM12 after 2 on KK. Bluetooth is screwed on CM12 for Togari though, I'm sure it'll improve once they fix it... Is bluetooth dodgy for your phone too?
What you mean - dodgy? Bluetooth works fine - with hands free at least. Even SW2 has much faster responses from phone comparing to previous Android versions.
I will ask creators of Nameless ROM then...

Bluetooth on mine stops working from time to time, and frequently needs a phone reboot to get bt audio working. As I say, that may be limited to the specific phone model.
Mine BT is quite stable - i have asked in forum here - http://www.oppoforums.com/threads/5-x-namelessrom-all-variants.22451/page-204#post-327785 . So lets see, whether someone pick up the topic ...

Battery life lineage OS versus Color OS

Hi, I am thinking to flash lineage OS to my oppo R7 plus and I was wondering how good is the battery line in lineage OS as consider to color OS. Battery life is the most imp thing for me in my cell phone. Any body using lineage OS work oppo R7 plus - can your answer me with some figures. I wil like to know some numbers. Like if I am getting 24 hours in color OS, how many hours I will get in lineage OS?
Thanks for any answers.
Hey there i'm on the latest LineageOS build , your mileage may vary but from 100% to 0% in my experience is in 1 day and multiple hours , Screen on time around 7-8 hours. Good luck !
Hi, thanks for the reply. That sounds good. One more question, VOOC charging is supported by Lineage OS?
Thanks

Of course. you'll see charging rapidly on your lock screen.
Thanks a lot.
Two last questions before I can go for it.
1. If I don't like lineage OS and want to go back to stock color OS, is there any tutorial for that ( I searched but found nothing and even the official international oppo forms are closed recently).
2. Any major drawback of lineage OS as compared to Color OS? Any major features that is not working on lineage OS?
Thanks again.
how did you managed to flash lineage os ? please help me
There is tutorial here on the forums. I have not yet flashed it though.

If I were you, I wouldn't touch LOS with a barge pole on this phone.
I've been running the nightlies (which are really weeklies) for months and they just seem to get less and less usable.
Firstly, forget Bluetooth if you use LOS. Using any BT headset or speaker usually results in an extremely sluggish and/or resetting phone if a call then happens. I can be quite happily walking along listening to TuneIn on a BT headset but, if a call then comes in, I have about a 20% chance of taking it without the phone dying. Same if I place a call. Which basically makes BT useless unless you never want to talk to anyone., which is kinda what they're for.
I also sometimes experience frequent random slowdowns just by activating the phone (maybe once per 2-3 days). It was working fine when I put it down. Then I pick it up and press the on switch. It then takes over a minute for the screen to come on, and further interaction with it is glacially slow until you reboot it.
Other times, it doesn't become unusably slow but is still noticeably sluggish (after activating) for no apparent reason.
Various apps crash that didn't crash before. Not always, but often enough to be annoying. In particular, Titanium Backup crashed on startup for months. It doesn't now. I don't know what changed.
Double tapping the screen to wake it up sometimes works and sometimes (maybe every 10 days) doesn't.
Battery life is noticeably less than stock.
GPS (Google Maps) doesn't always work. A few days ago I had to visit somewhere I'd never been to before. I tried to follow myself, on the bus. My position didn't update after leaving the bus station.
And don't get me started on TWRP as the recovery. It claims to support USB OTG but it doesn't, which is a major problem if you want to back up the phone to a USB flash stick. You can't. And the developer completely ignores bug reports about it.
I have two of the phones, both of the r7plusf model, so I'm sure these aren't problems with a specific phone.
And the nature of most of these problems is that you can't capture logs to file a bug.
All in all, if you have this phone just stick with what OPPO gives you, warts and all, unless you *really* want an ulcer. Or, if you really want to use LOS, get another phone.
Sorry for the late reply.
PS - if a dev happens to be listening, contact me. I'd love to help fix this stuff in any way I can.

This blows my mind. What didn't I do right? Didn't I sacrifice enough chickens?
TBH the Bluetooth problem (at least) is well documented, as well as being a massive dealbreaker.
Funnily enough though I don't have an audio stutter problem. But I don't use physically attached headphones.
Are you open to a crash-off, in which we both install the same LOS version and (if necessary) start adding apps until we either see my problems or we don't?

This helped me too, thanks. I put an inline meter and it was only drawing 1.x amps but without the meter I can see "rapidly charging" on the lockscreen. Pity there is no battery icon change for Oppo's in LineageOS (14.1).
One more thing, if you're still active... which country are you in? I first put 15.1 on my R7Plusf and right off the bat WiFi didn't work.. even after reboot etc.
I flashed 14.1 and every single thing works perfectly so far!
