So my mother has a samsung s8 Plus and a software update was pushed through the other day. After it updated, the 4g/Lte icon on status bar is gone and now only has the no mobile network icon.
no calls/texts in or out. Took it to att store and they reset mobile network settings, did a factory reset, and replaced the SIM card. none of that worked. She then took it to a UbreakIfix(?) samsung
authorized repair shop and they tried the same things to no avail. Any thoughts or ideas from here?
Edit: forgot to mention that the airplane mode in the notification bar drop down is lit up light blue but is not turned on. it is light blue not the normal dark blue like all the other icons. very weird.
I am having the EXACT same issue. I don't remember when the last update came through, but it was Feb 16th when this started happening to me. I was moving to a new apartment, phone battery down to like 10%, so I turned the phone off and put it away. A few hours later I turned it back on and no cell connection. No bars, just a circle with line through it. Settings > About Phone > Status > SIM card status = shows Network "unknown", Mobile network type "unknown", Service state " Radio off", Mobile network state "Disconnected".
My SIM works in a Nexus 6 and Galaxy Note 4, so I know it isn't the SIM card. I've tried everything I can think of to turn the radio back on, replaced the SIM tray (original is cracked), even got a Freedompop SIM just to test, and yeah, it won't work. The cellular radio isn't turning on for some reason.
I will say, a couple days after it happen, I turned the phone on without SIM tray, and I could see empty bars, like it was trying to work. I turned it off, put my SIM in, and it worked... until my replacement SIM tray came in. Turned it off, replaced SIM tray, and it is off again.. for last 2 days. I just happened to turn it on that day and it was working, turned it off some days later and it stopped again. I don't know why.. no apparent reason. So, last couple days I have been turning it on and off, on and off, hoping it comes back on.
If ANYONE comes up with ANY ideas, please let us know!!!
Aaaaaaand... I turned it on this morning and the signal bars were back. I didn't even turn the phone off, I slid my SIM card, in tray, in to the phone, and it is working. I'm scared to even reboot it now, but SOOOO happy I don't have to use my Note 4 with dying battery right now

Thats funny because I had my moms phone just sitting in my nightstand drawer and she decided she wanted it back. So I gave her the phone back and she charged it up and turned it on. Guess what...it was working again. Very weird.

Tell her not to shut it down. That caused my issues the second time (well, the first time too). Rebooting, not sure... but I am keeping it charged and NOT shutting down until the next software update, for sure.
FYI... my charge cable got pulled out of my phone last night and my phone died in the middle of the night. I woke up, noticed it, and started charging to around 25%, turned it on, and now... no mobile signal again. Worked fine for I guess a month. A month of NEVER rebooting it or shutting it off. Once I did this it has now lost signal. Luckily I have a Note 9 coming Monday (tomorrow), but this is really pissing me off.

Yesterday I was in Brooklyn and my Touch Pro completely flipped out.
1. I could connect to phone service or data service.
2. The phone would shut down completely when I turned off hte top power button. I had to soft reset, many times.
The battery had a full charge. I took it out and took out and cleaned the sim card. This sometimes helps connection problems. This time nothing.
Today I am back home and the phone works fine.
Even if there was no service in the area, why would the phone keep turning off?
weird lol. I travel to Manhattan and back to brooklyn everyday and it works fine for me. Maybe it has trouble connecting to a neww cell tower? And where is "home" for you?
Strange issue with my G2X. It has worked perfectly since having it replaced due to the reboots a month ago. An hour ago I used it just fine, sending a few texts and making a phone call. Now, I turn it on, and the phone no longer gets service and the battery inidicator (stock no roms) just shows a circle instead of the the green/orange/red charge levels. I tried putting it in airplane mode and back out to refresh the signal but it simply became stuck in airplane mode. Attempting to turn off airplane mode through long press just grayed out the option. Doing it through settings force closed Android.Settings after a couple of seconds. Pulled the battery and waited a little bit, turn it back on, still the same issues. Has anyone else seen this before with their G2X or other Android phones?
Try pulling the battery while the phone is still on?

I was able to find the culprit. Never would have expected my 8gb SD Card (Not internal) to be the reason my phone suddenly crapped out on me. Removed the card and the phone worked just fine. I'll replace it with a new one after I am able to copy my files off.
Ok I was at work today took my phone out of my pocket an suddenly had no service, which is weird because I usually have 3-4 bars inside the building, and it was working fine 5 min before that. So I went outside and still nothing.
Did the whole power cycle, remove the battery, airplane mode on and off, then even resorted to factory reset. Still Nothing. At home plugged it into usb, tried a bunch of stuff nothing... WiFi works fine, but no 3G, roaming, no cell connection at all...cant test 4G
So anyone have a fix for this... otherwise its a trip to the Verizon store tomorrow.
Ps. I have not rooted this phone yet, and have had it less than 2 weeks.
I have a similar issue too. 3G would fail after sending a text message and sometime while tethering and missing a call, ALL signal was gone. In either case I would just reboot the phone and it would start working again.
THEN.... my 3G totally disappeared and VZN is now sending me a new phone.

you may need a new SIM card
According to technical support, both of these are known issue that HTC is "working" to put out a fix for. They are also unbelievably annoying for me. I've never had to call technical support before this phone. Grrr. This is the reason it's still stock.
Last night, Tech Support proposed a factory reset so I did it and somehow the problem is now worse. I guess one of the apps I downloaded to improve signal quality actually worked. I've only had the phone since Thursday and am already fed up with it. Twice last night, the phone decided to go into airplane mode and I just turned airplane mode off and on again to fix it.
Then this morning it didn't work. I got a call at 8 AM and sent it straight to voicemail. Somehow the phone decides now will be a great time to go into airplane mode. I attempt to call my vm to see if the caller left me a vm a minute or so after they call and I can't because airplane mode is turning on. I could live with that I suppose. I waited and turned the airplane mode on and off again(this time on purpose) and got reception back. Then I drove to the dog park. Upon leave my wifi, the phone decides again that air plane mode is so much better than connecting so I stop at a stoplight and notice I have no bars and an x again. That's fine I say and try to turn airplane mode off and on again. This time I get phone reception back again, but no 4g. It's weird. I tried restaring the phone and I have still have no 4g reception or icon. Mobile data just says that it's turning on. I left it like that for an hour while at the park to see if I got any differences and because I was tired of messing with it.
So then I called technical support and their response is to reset something and ask me to turn off the phone, take the sim card out, leave it off for a few moments, and then restart it with the sim card. That actually worked and I have 4g again. But I know I'm just going to have this same problem on a continuous basis.
So does anyone have a solution to the randoom airplane mode. Is it worth waiting for HTC's 'fix'?
My Flex2 is acting very weird lately.
On Saturday i turned it off. I was going to flash the 5.0.1 software because i saw the colors on 5.1.1 get warmer than on the previous version.
Nevertheless, the phone never actually booted again.
I contacted the service and had the phone to be collected today.
Today, i accidentally pressed the ON button while i was trying to get off the cover to retrieve my SIM card.
The phone booted, signaling 0% battery. Immediately i put in on charge and it opened without a hassle.
Then, when the charging was around 85%, the phone shut off without a warning. The phone was super hot when this happened.
I contacted the service again and the phone was collected.
What is interested though, is that both times the phone refused to open, it stayed a little warm like it's in an infinite loop with the display off and it;s not really shutdown.
Today, that booted successfully, it was completely cold. Battery must have died, and it exited the loop.
I am very concerned that whenever reaches the service station, battery will be again depleted and the phone will turn on, so nothing will be to blame on my phone.
Any thoughts?

Before you sended it to service i would have downgraded to 5.0.1 and try stability checks first. Lets hope service will investigate if there are temperature issues

I never had the chance really. That was my intention. But the phone worked for one hour or so and i was at work so...
I'll try to do it, when it comes back.
But we meet that issue. One day we take off the SIM Card from the phone . When we put back the SIM Card . But the phone never recognize it. Finally. We figure it out after several days.
That phone have to many issues. Take it back and hope you get a good device. If you still can get a g4 when you take it back. My wife has it and it runs way better than the flex 2 . Took my flex 2 back after 3 devices of overheating to the point it felt unsafe. Screen going out showing rainbow colors on the system notification bar and screen not turning on
Mine had a faulty main pcb. I had it replaced and now everything is as it should be
