Hello,
I have some issue with Xperia XZ Premium with charging
I install new software : 47.2.A.4.41 CE
After connecting the top-up phone, the phone reboots (not depending on whether it is connected to a charger or a computer).
Without disconnecting the USB cable, the phone is charging correctly, but after a short time (eg about 1 hour) the phone reboots.
The phone is working properly, until I have to plug it in for landing.
I checked on many USB cables, and chargers, and PC
Additional;
I got bootloader unlocked - I'don't wont to send to service in warranty

I have this issue when I used the phone in water (or under water).
Maybe check if your port is dry.

Hi all,
I run out of battery today ( I forgot to charge it overnight ) and when I got home, I plugged the phone in the USB and nothing happened!!!
Unfortunately, I don't the mains adapter with me (I am always near a PC with a USB port).
Is it possible that I need to charge it using a mains adapter (considering it ran out of battery and it turned off) ?
I tried using a different USB port, and also checked the ports by plugging other devices, and the ports are working properly. I don't have another mini-usb cable to use.
any help will be appreciated
Argy
If the battery went completely flat, you may need to put it on the USB for 30 min, reboot it, and then let it charge normally.
You need to check your registry regarding USB charging key, there is an app, but I cant upload now, its in Phil's Extras folder, get it from there
You can toggle USB charging via a simple GUI
Is this normal? cant get it to charge while connected to my usb port?
It says it is charging in the power options, but can be on all day, and as soon as I unplug it its saying no battery left !!!
Also has the been an official rom update yet?
Check this setting

Hi, You don't have the box ticked in the battery screen do you ?
the one that says
When device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to the PC
this should be unticked.
dean
Hi Dean
Now I dont have it ticked !!
Any other idea's?
The problem could also be your usb line or usb port. try some alternatives first.
Tried everything, different usb leads, different sockets even different laptops !!
Help
Same problem here. But i changed the USB cable and problem solved. Did u tried it, with the official USB cable from HTC? (I guess so, just to check)
Yep I did !!

Hi,
this is sounding kinda weird..
What kind of wall charger came with the phone, mine is a wall adapter that i plug the USB lead into to charge the phone
So i know my USB lead works as this charges the phone with both the adapter and via USB on any PC ( i have tried home and work PC's)
Sounds like it could be a handset issue then ???
mine is a Vodafone handset that i bought unlocked and flashed with a different ROM and its working fine..

Laptops can be a bit funny about USB charging, I remember one laptop I had wouldn't charge my phone (SE K800i at the time), unless it was on mains power. The laptop had to be powered up while on the mains, with no USB devices plugged in, then it would supply power to the ports.
My work laptop is also a bit funny about it, I had to disable powering down of the USB ports otherwise it won't power them back up, but since if nothing is connected there's not much of a problem. There is also the possibility it's powering the port, which will charge the phone, but not enough power to actually make it worthwhile, you can check to see how much power is going to the ports by looking under device manager. So you might want to check it's not a problem with your laptop.

This is exactly what mine turned out to be. At work I've got a Dell Optiplex 745 tower and none of the USB ports put out enough power to charge my phone and have the phone on. I've got wifi turned off but the data, EDGE, is always on. If the display is on and I'm in Storage mode there's very little charging going on. It doesn't drain quickly but it definitely isn't going up. If I'm in sync mode it drains pretty quickly and it seems as tho it's not even charging at all.
What I do now is plug it in at work and turn off the display. Kinda sucks but I need my phone fully charged at all times.
I have the same problem....
the usb and the factory usb are different if u have looked carefully
firstable, the shape of the heads are different. secondly, there are 4 pins inside usb and 6 pins inside the factory usb...I guess that's the problem.
Try messing with the USB to PC settings. I know my TP was acting funny and not charging, and after i disabled network functionality, i think it started charging. GL.
Thamks for all the replys, if done everytjhing sometimes it will charge sometimes it wont, I have it connected to my laptop all day for internet sharing, it has charged up very slowly twive, and not at all 8 or 9 times, same usb slot , laptop plugged into mains, official usb lead used ( it never charges from another usb lead )
This is the 3rd htc Ive owned and the first to play up like this over usb !!

Have you tried it plugged into a desktop computer? It would rule out the laptop being the problem if it didn't work. You could also use a mini-usb cable, which could also prove if the official cable is a problem.
Having similar problem...
I'm having a similar problem. My laptop used to charge Touch Pro when i connect it. Now for reason i noticed that it doesn't anymore.
I could be wrong, but I thought I read in the manual that when the phone is synched to a PC, it only charges in trickle mode, so it doesn't recharge the battery efficiently. Is this the problem?
same problem here. Mine was working fine with ANY charger whether it be USB, car charger or wall charger. But now it will only charge with the htc plug but not the HTC wall charger. The plug is the one with the ports for tv-out, headphones.
I'm going to go try and do a hard reset.I dont understand what could cause this.
Hi,
I've had the following symptoms:
a) Battery draining abnormally fast (usually lasts < 3-4 hours with no activity).
b) Phone is not detected by computer, computer is not detected by phone. Tried both Mac and PC with multiple USB cables. No media prompt, can't reboot/reflash.
c) Phone no longer displays "Charging via AC" but rather "Charging via USB", even when using multiple different USB chargers that should fast-charge. Qi wireless charging works.
d) Otherwise, phone is working fine.
A few weeks ago, I got a new battery, this solved the issue of the phone turning off or restarts with no explanation, often when about 80% charged. Upon bootup again a few minutes later, battery life is around 20% or less. Phone is not abnormally hot when this happens, so that energy is not being discharged. However, other symptoms above remain.
I assumed it was an issue with the USB port on the phone, since data pins are required for both fast charging and a computer connection.
I tried replacing the USB Flex cable with a new one, but I had the same symptoms after the replacement. I also tried a reset of the device, wiping user data, but the same issues remain.
a) Does this sound like an issue with the main board of the Nexus?
b) Any other troubleshooting steps I can try?
c) I previously unlocked the bootloader. Without a USB data connection, it's impossible to root/flash updates, right?

When I'm not using QI, I usually use a wall adapter.
I've used several different new micro-USB cables, with several different wall adapters that support fast AC charging with Android phones. This worked in the past, but within the past two months, it stopped working properly.
I usually only connect to the PC to load updates manually. I last did so for a Lollipop update a few months ago (5.0.1). Everything is stock, except that the bootloader is unlocked.
I'm specifically using external batteries and chargers that are designed to charge faster. All of them state "USB" instead of "AC" now on the battery settings, and the charging is very slow.
What he said ^^^^
And read posts 1 to 3 carefully in the battery help thread. If you still need help, read post 4 well. ?

Thanks for the reply.
While I did state that the battery is draining quickly, this might be due to apps installed or system configuration, and it isn't my main problem.
My main issue is that the AC charging doesn't work and the phone not being detected by any PC or MAC. This would appear to point to a hardware issue, since I can't even connect to the phone when in the bootloader/recovery. The posts in the battery thread seem to point towards looking at software reasons for battery drain, and not towards causes of slow USB (non AC) charging, and data over USB not working.
Yes, the battery thread usually covers drain issues. But if your phone dies in 4 hours with little use, something is seriously wrong. Could be hardware and all related....Likely is.
If you can't charge with an ac charger and cable, or have your computer recognize it, it's likely a bad port on the phone, or simply the cable. (Yes, I see you covered the cable... But just saying the options)
Your computer doesn't see it at all? It's not in device manager as an unknown device? Or it is?
Still like to see screen shots from gsam about the battery drain. And the stock battery graph.
Hi I have the folowing problem
Whit oem Cable i connect to wall charger it charges whit AC and i connect to external battery and it is charging whit USB. on other phones testet including Nexus 4 is charging whit AC on the external battery both 1A and 2A ports.
What could be her te problem?
Is the carging unit of the phone defectiv?
The phone one day stopped charging, when i plug the charger it doesn't seem to recognize it, but when it is turned off and i plug it it starts charging but really slow (3 hours= 10%) and if i unplug it afterwards the screen still shows as if it is charging, if i turn the phone on while plugged in the phone says it is charging but again, really slow, if i use the phone while it is "charging" it discharges and when i unplug it, it still shows as if it is charging, NOW if i turn the phone on while unplugged it doesn't recognize the charger, also, i have tried to plug it to the PC but the PC doesn't recognize it either, the PC did play the sound of something being plugged when i entered in boot mode in the phone, i have already flashed another ROM and installed a different kernel, it doesn't seem to work, i have also disassembled the USB port (which is very easy on this phone) and nothing... Do you think it is a hardware problem? or more like a software bug/problem?
Please help, Im kinda new to XDA so sorry if i have problems with the redaction of the problem im having.
I'm also having issues with the port, but it does seem different than yours. For me the connector is just broken. Some cables still work (barely), other don't work anymore at all. Did you try with different cables?

solution to usb port
steps:-
1. switch off the device
2. charge it with a fast charges or the power charger then
3. unplug that cahrger and use your moto charger and left it untill it become 100% charge
it might take alonger time about 8-9 hrs
4. then switch on your phone
note: after it work properly dont use any other cable other then which comes with the phone
Hi all,
i want to ask if someone has already encountered with following behavior:
Suddenly, without any apparent reason, my Samsung galaxy S7 stopped charging via USB cable.
note on the side: I mostly charge through wireless.
I tried factory reset, i tried different wall charger, cables, cleaning of usb port.
What is strange is that when i connect phone to usb cable the screen lights up, but charging does not start. Data transfer to pc through usb works fine too.
Now i have discovered that when i put my phone on charging pad (wireless charger) and i connected a usb cable while charging , phone switched without any problems from wireless charge to usb cable charge and then continues charging.
wtf?
any thoughts what to do next?
Thank you!
I've never charged wirelessly before but that sounds like a hardware problem to me. You'll have to return it to your mobile carrier and get a replacement.
