NOTE: This post is already obsolete. I made a magisk module to make this process much easier. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78769874
First, I wanna give a huge shoutout to @ondraczsk for making the original tutorial on modding these apks.
DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. IT WORKED FOR ME, HOPEFULLY IT WORKS FOR YOU.

THE GUIDE
I took his tutorial and modified it. (Parts of it are copy pasted.)
You need APK EDITOR PRO: Download
• Open Magisk Manager
• go to downloads
• Search for "System Accent Theme (Colors) for P" and download it.
• Restart your phone
• Open the apk editor.
• Select "Select Apk from App"
• Tap on three dots in right upper corner
• Select "System Apps"
• Tap on any app that starts by com.google.android.theme. (Like com.google.android.theme.bluegray)
(Let's say that We choose Blue Gray theme)
• Windows appears - select "Full Edit"
• Now, you are in app String editor. Rename string pixel_overlay_pixel ("BlueGray") to "Use Notch", or something like that
• On Toolbar below select Files
• Navigate to res/values
• Open Strings.xml
• Rename string pixel_overlay_pixel to same name as you write on String editor "Use Notch"
• Add this line to the file: <string name="config_mainBuiltInDisplayCutout">0</string>
Make sure its inside the resource tags. This line basically makes the phone think it doesn't have a notch anymore.
• Click the bottom save icon.
Your strings.xml file should now look something like this:
• Open Colors.xml
• tap on right upper corner "Open in Editor"
• Inside the resources tags, add this line: <dimen name="status_bar_height_portrait">36.0dip</dimen>
• Save it.
Your colors.xml file should now look something like this:
• On right upper corner tap on "Build"
• It should show OK Green icon and show- Suceeed! APK saved as /storage......
• Tap on install
• And install it as normal apk.
• Then go to system settings-> Display -> Colour Theme, and select the "Use Notch" theme!
NOW WE CAN USE THE NOTCH IN APPS AND GAMES!
You can stop using the notch just by changing themes!
Again, thanks so much for this original tutorial: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/guide-transparent-ui-t3891944
Thank you for the guide. Does it only work on stock rom? Because the gsi RR does not work.
What about games which have a button on the center left side for example Clash of Clans, this button would than disappear behind the notch.

Yes this guide did work. I made a magisk module so you don't have to do the guide anymore. Maybe the magisk module will work on RR https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78769874

How can i configure these shortcuts to work properly. Also i feel this is a tiny little app and can be included as a part of any ROM

Yes, it would be awsome if some of you cookers out there would integrate this into your ROMs!
Yes indeed! And it has two color variants too..
Could anyone please upload some screenshots of this cab?

Great application. No doubt about it. You should tell in Dr. Martin and fireburned's threads. I hope they fix shortcuts and include it in there new roms
Yeah, this came packaged with my HTC S710 - out of the box.
On a different note, one app that I just can't wait for is the new version of SmartToolKit....drooooolllll

yes, the shortcuts worked in the orignal rom. i think maybe this application has predefined locations for some default applications. The ROM cookers place the apps somewhere else so it is unable to locate them... so i think.
i have also attached 2 screenshots. (the background is animated)
HACKED!
Managed to make the shortcuts work. It's very easy.
So, if you want the shortcuts to work (let's say Voice Commander for example).
1. Connect your Vox through ActiveSync.
2. In Windows Explorer, go Tools-Folder options... there you go to View, then check "Show hidden files and folders and un-check "Hide protected operating system files".
3. Go in your Mobile Device, Browse into Windows folder (now visible), then to Start Menu, and if you want to access an app through Voice Command, simply create a shortcut of any app there with the name "Voice Command". It's that easy! It now starts Bubble Breaker on mine
Update: found on some older thread

two cons : 3D menu shall have icons for freshly installed apps; switching from 3D to 2D does not require reboot
This menu doesn't work correctly on 96dpi ROM A part of the screen is left out and I can see some elements of homescreen or programs in this area.
Here it is with Resco Explorer launched prior to the menu.
How to have an animated background?
Hi romil7

Cool. Thx for sharing!
I have tried it.But it did not work. Why?
DISCLAIMER: This guide involves the use of a paid app!!!
In this guide I will attempt to teach you how to make your own transparent pull down background without the use of a computer. It is very simple and once you get the hang of it, it only takes a few minutes to do.
Things you will need
Photoshop touch for phones
transparent base (linked at the bottom of this guide)
pic you want transparent
That's it
First you will need to download the app "Photoshop touch for phones" (from here on out known as PS Touch), it is a paid app on the playstore and is well worth the money, the only thing that limits this app is your imagination! Then you'll need to download the transparent base linked at the bottom of this guide. Once you have your picture and everything else you need you're ready to start editing!
Open the app PS Touch, if the picture you have isn't sized correctly or you want to touch it up and make it your own you'll want to edit that first, press new project and then choose photo library. This will open up your gallery, choose the photo you want to edit/resize from there. To resize you'll click the & icon at the top and choose resize, you want the size at 720x1280 (when the resizer pops up hit the link so the numbers aren't linked together so you can get the correct dimensions)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
now you can edit the pic as you please. And then press done and then save. Once you press done it will bring you to this page, you will need to save it again from here so it shows up on your gallery (the first time you saved it only saved it to your projects). To save again press the box with the arrow, then select your pic. Save as PNG
after you save it and confirm it shows up in your gallery you can delete it from your projects, or not, your choice
Now is when that transparent base comes into play, start a new project again, selecting photo library again. Now find where you put your transparent base (I put mine in a folder named transparent base to make it easier to find since it doesn't really show up in the gallery, it is there though, once you're in your folder with it press the top left to select it).
If you selected it, your screen will look like this
Now you'll want to add a layer, the layer being your photo you edited before (select photo layer, then navigate to Adobe photoshop touch folder, it'll be in there)
. Once selected you should get this
Press the check mark to set it....
Now comes the part where you make it transparent! Press the button on the bottom right that looks like 2 papers with a + sign (the same button you pressed to add a layer), then instead of adding a layer, press the other 2 paper button that pops up
Now, just mess with the slider for opacity
. I think anywhere from 30-35 is just about perfect, but you can set it wherever, the lower the slider, the more transparent the pic will be.
Once you have the opacity where you want it you will need to merge the two pics. To do that you will press the button that has the arrow pointing down. (it's under the opacity slider) click merge visible, you'll now notice you don't have two layers anymore, which means you're done and ready to save!
press done and save it the same way you did before.
Now you're ready to rename it and throw it in a flashable and flash! (I've only done this on wicked and tpr for sprint, but it should work on all tw ROMs that utilize morphology, for tpr it needs to be named pulldown.png and for wicked it's tw_custom_bg.png, just make sure to name the png to whatever your rom has for the pulldown or it won't show up) Since I don't know what the pulldown background is named for you over here in Verizon land, you'll need to make sure you name it correctly for your rom. The image is found in system/app/systemui.apk/res/drawable-xhdpi...
AS ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP!!!
Thank you @kennyglass123 for confirming it was OK to make this thread, also thank you to @bigpappags3 for your help figuring this out!
transparent base pic
Some examples of what it looks like when it's done.
This one by @bigpappags3, not sure how he got it like this yet, but I'm sure he will let me know or wrote up a guide for it so I can have Kenny stick it in post 2

★How To Unlock The Status-Bar Notification Panel Hidden Toggles★
WHAT DOES THIS MOD DO: This mod will let you unlock the status bar notification panel hidden toggles by default without the need to use any of those SQLite editor apps to add them back in.
★ Go into the system/csc folder on any rom using any root explorer or on a pc and open up "feature.xml"
★ If you don't have "feature.xml", then open up "others.xml" instead.
NOW LOOK FOR:
Code:
[SIZE="3"][COLOR="Green"]<!-- Settings -->[/COLOR][/SIZE]
ALL THE WAY AT THE BOTTOM OF <!-- Settings --> ADD THESE TWO NEW LINES BELOW!
Code:
<CscFeature_Setting_DefNotificationPanelOrder>Wifi;MobileData;Location;SilentMode;AutoRotate;Bluetooth;Ebook;DormantMode;WiFiHotspot;Brightness;PowerSaving;AllShareCast;MultiWindow;SBeam;Nfc;AirView;AirGesture;SmartNetwork;ToddlerMode;DrivingMode;SmartStay;SmartScroll;SmartPause;Sync;AirplaneMode</CscFeature_Setting_DefNotificationPanelOrder>
<CscFeature_Setting_DefQuickPanelOrder>Wifi;MobileData;Location;SilentMode;AutoRotate;Bluetooth;Ebook;DormantMode;WiFiHotspot;Brightness;PowerSaving;AllShareCast;MultiWindow;SBeam;Nfc;AirView;AirGesture;SmartNetwork;ToddlerMode;DrivingMode;SmartStay;SmartScroll;SmartPause;Sync;AirplaneMode</CscFeature_Setting_DefQuickPanelOrder>
IF YOUR DOING THIS ON "others.xml" ADD THOSE TWO SAME LINES RIGHT ABOVE </FeatureSet> THAT'S TOWARDS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE XML FILE.
By doing this you should now have 25 toggles in your status bar notification panel. There are two more hidden toggles which are "PersonalMode" and also "DoNotDisturb". These two toggles seem to not do anything since PersonalMode is probably used for KNOX and DoNotDisturb once you press on the toggle to disable it, you cant enable/disable it again. If you want those other two toggles for any reason just to have 27 toggles instead of 25, then here are the two lines with them in it.
Code:
<CscFeature_Setting_DefNotificationPanelOrder>Wifi;MobileData;Location;SilentMode;AutoRotate;Bluetooth;Ebook;DormantMode;WiFiHotspot;Brightness;PowerSaving;AllShareCast;MultiWindow;SBeam;Nfc;AirView;AirGesture;SmartNetwork;ToddlerMode;PersonalMode;DrivingMode;SmartStay;SmartScroll;SmartPause;Sync;AirplaneMode;DoNotDisturb</CscFeature_Setting_DefNotificationPanelOrder>
<CscFeature_Setting_DefQuickPanelOrder>Wifi;MobileData;Location;SilentMode;AutoRotate;Bluetooth;Ebook;DormantMode;WiFiHotspot;Brightness;PowerSaving;AllShareCast;MultiWindow;SBeam;Nfc;AirView;AirGesture;SmartNetwork;ToddlerMode;PersonalMode;DrivingMode;SmartStay;SmartScroll;SmartPause;Sync;AirplaneMode;DoNotDisturb</CscFeature_Setting_DefQuickPanelOrder>
If you want, you can also change the order of the toggles in those two lines by re-arranging them around, just make sure that they are in the same order for both the <CscFeature_Setting_DefNotificationPanelOrder> and <CscFeature_Setting_DefQuickPanelOrder> lines.
Note: I kept the toggles the same order for both lines for best results in my opinion, I haven't re-arranged them both differently so who knows it will probably work that way also, just let me know.

It works its just that its a mod that has to do with the sqlite database meaning that when you add it, the mod will not show unless a developer adds it into their rom, perform a full wipe which resets the settings.db, and then it will then show. I will be working on a flashable.zip so the settings.db can reset itself.

Thanks
How to add usb tethering ?
It's not a mod lol, the op make exactly the inverse what's said.
For enable you have to edit your sq lite database or the other. XML.
But this op is really old because is since 2013 and as you can seen on the ss the rom is kitkat.
No devs like @Kamy push in their rom a script to enable all the shortcuts in one click with the app rom control.
If you want you can learn more about this or directly use the rom I mean, it's aryamod lollipop v8.3, (5.0 LP) or the newest S7edge v4(6.0 MM) for the note 3 all snapdragon variants

For those interested in customizing your G2's here's a simple guide for installing Themer and combine it with LMT pie launcher to get a new look and feel on the phone. I did it on CloudyPro II so I don't know if will work on other ROMs but it should
The main ingredients you will need are:
Google Keyboard or any other keyboard you like.
Themer
Xposed Framework
G2 TweaksBox
LMT Pie Launcher
NexMusic or your preferred player supported by Themer.
After you have downloaded the listed apps the first one you have to install is the keyboard you chose and enable it as default. This is because you will need to disable the nav bar and after you do the LG keyboard will force close. Then as mentioned you have to disable the nav bar using G2 TweaksBox> Miscellaneous> check the "disable nav bar" box but don't reboot. Before you reboot make sure you installed LMT Pie Launcher and checked the first two boxes (Activate service and Autostart service) on the app's settings.
Then reboot your device and once you do you won't have the nav bar anymore but now you can use the LMT pie launcher to navigate through the phone. It can be launched by swiping from the left, right and bottom of the screen to the center. It can also be completely customized but I'll explain that later.
After you have disabled the nav bar, have enabled a keyboard and LMT pie is working you can install Themer as a normal app from the Play Store, choose a theme and apply it. Themer was recently updated to support LG's default Music app but they don't seem to get along that well yet. That's why I suggested to use NexMusic which has given me the best experience and works great from the lock screen too. You can select it from the Themer app and after you download it, it will be set as default.
So basically after you've installed everything your phone should look something like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
You can also customize the LMT pie and make it look similar to this:
LMT pie comes with a standard 5 buttons layout that should be enough to help you get through the setup process but if you want to customize it a little more you can go to the last section of LMT's settings, PIE, and there configure it button by button as well as the long press or even add a second line of buttons. The new custom buttons you choose will appear one by one as you select them. For customizing the color you can use a menu on the first section and there you can also raise the top radius, bottom radius and outline as well as many other features.
To add a lock/shutdown function you have to enable a custom key and set it to 26. That's the one that I have on the far left.
I started using it a couple days ago and haven't had any problem so far. The biggest loss you might get from disabling the nav bar is that you loose the option of using multi-window but I'm pretty sure there's a work around for enabling it on LMT; just haven't figured that out yet
Battery life is not affected at all and I can say it improved a bit on this specific theme I'm using because of the dark BG and UI. I wanted to share this because I really liked the way the G2 looks with Themer and also to start a discussion and see what new things I can learn from any of the apps I used.
Credit goes to all the developers of each and every app I mentioned so give your thanks to them and support their projects in any way possible. No need to leave thanks here, ideas and helpful discussions would be more appreciated.
Cheers

That's weird, that shouldn't be happening
Only the buttons you enable on the PIE section should appear and on all three sides (bottom, right and left). If you keep having this problem try wiping the app's data from the app manager and start over configuring the pie.
