I just replaced my S7's camera module and lens, which involved heating the edges, prying open the case, removing the three modules and motherboard, and replacing the camera itself.
After re-assembly the new camera works, but every once in awhile the phone behaves as if there are a flurry of touches in the lower area of the screen; the apps menu pops up repeatedly, sometimes recent apps are selected, etc, all without touching the screen at all. After maybe 10 seconds of this (during which I've started hitting the power button to immediately lock the phone and prevent accidental calls or such), it calms down and the touch screen seems to work perfectly fine for awhile, until it happens again.
Any ideas what might cause this kind of malfunction? Could it be as simple as a loose connector when I re-installed the motherboard? Or, I read that the screen is sensitive to heat, does this sound like a symptom of heat damage to the touch screen from when I heated the edges to open the case?
Is there anything I can do to further diagnose and fix this issue?
Thanks!

Glue on the inside of the screen when you took it apart. Glue has some moisture in it, moisture conducts voltage, the screen works by voltage resistance when you touch it with a human finger.

Hm, thanks for the tip! That would make sense, although I only removed the back cover and not the front; you think some of that adhesive could still have worked its way down onto the inside of the screen, which was below the rest of the phone assembly while working on it upside-down?
Would you suggest then removing the screen this time and checking for stray glue on the inside? Or opening the back again? When I re-assembled I did just re-use the existing adhesive with a bit more heat to soften it before pressing the back cover back on; maybe it would be better to remove all of that and use a new adhesive sticker on the back?
edit: I should mention also that after further observation, I'm pretty sure the primary touchscreen area is not affected, the issue is only on the menu soft key area left of the physical home button. I thought there were phantom screen touches that were selecting recent apps from the list, but I think now it's actually phantom sideways-swipes on the menu soft key which is apparently a swap-to-last-app gesture that I never knew about.

Phones are now quite difficult to repair yourself, so many steps and needing to mess about with the adhesive.
I would open it back up make sure no stray adhesive anywhere and carefully put it back together. Normally there's no need to get more adhesive as you only need a very small amount of the original adhesive to stick it back together. Just take your time and heat it up properly.

My fuze screen has became way to loose in the closed position. To provide a better example its like its got a hinge and wants to flip open rather then slide open. There is way too much up/down movement that way. Its so loose that when it vibrates the screen will vibrate on the casing and it makes or horrible rattle sound that makes me cringe every time I hear it. I have to hold the phone tight in my hand to stop the rattle. The weight of the screen will actually cause it to partly open by just flipping the phone over and holding the back.
Aside from duct tape, any good ways to fix this or tighten the mechanism that holds it position?
I have a similar problem but not as severe. Mine is just a smidge loose and when I press down on the side of the screen it slides a few millimeters and it's really annoying when I hold the phone. Any help fixing would be appreciated.
yea same here, it's not annoying but I don't trust it

When I originally mentioned duct tape, I was being sarcastic. Ironically, however, this is my fix to this problem.
I used the Gorilla Tape brand, because that's what I had. All I did was put three pieces of black gorilla tape on the back of the slider. This tightened it up, and stopped my annoying rattle. Pretty simple and easy fix.
Also, it made the snap feel when it slides out much more firm, and I really enjoy the feel of it much more now.
So I ended up cracking my screen and installed a replacement last night. Everything seemed fine but I noticed, after putting it back together, that any slight bit of pressure or shock to the top causes my N5 to shut off.
I took it apart again to make sure all of the ribbons were properly connected and to take a second look and everything appears fine. I didn't have this problem prior to the replacement and I was very gentle during the tear down and reassembly so I don't the the CPU or anything on it is damaged. Other than the top being hyper sensitive the phone works perfectly.
Any ideas on what the problem is or could be?
SOLVED(sorry, I don't know how to change the title)
I just wanted to fill in anyone curious or running into this problem in the future on how I resolved the issue.
So after some time I narrowed the problem down to the second back cover (the one with the camera lens and beneath the Nexus branded cover) making contact with the motherboard. More specifically, compressing the power management IC with its aluminum cover. You want to make sure that chip is laid flush which was a PITA, for me at least, because the headphone jack and earpiece speaker wants to push it up and out. What I did was put the jack in, lay the board on top, then gradually adjusted the jack with tweezers while gently pushing the motherboard down until the board was flush, then placing the earpiece speaker in.
I then placed the second back cover on and tightened the screws until I could feel them just slightly putting pressure on the cover. I can't stress how light this pressure is as it is the key in resolving this issue. To compare it to changing your oil filter on your car; when you can feel the filter make solid contact with the block and you then turn it about another half turn to seal it; it's like that but without that half turn.
Anyway, I hope this helps anyone else unfortunate enough to both break their screen and then have their phone randomly shut down when any pressure is applied after fixing it.
hello

I bought mine off of eBay and it cost me $150. I could be wrong but it looked like the screen can't be separated from the frame. You might want to keep that in mind when purchasing because there are sellers that sell the screen without a frame. Tearing down the N5 was pretty simple. The hardest part for me was getting the back cover off as there are 4 (two on each side) large clips. If you end up bending the clips any, you can push them back to shape to keep the back from creaking like every Samsung I've ever owned. There's a nice guide on iFixit if you want to look at the process prior to ordering a new part.
I've read from others that you can send your phone into LG and they'll repair the screen for you. When you send it in they'll email a quote to you within a day. The price I keep seeing is $146 and I have no idea what the turn around on that is.
I'm sad to say I finally destroyed my TF300. It fell from about 6 feet onto tile. The screen is cracked in quite a few places, but luckily it didn't spiderweb. The touchscreen kind of works, I say kind of, because it's touching in random places all over the screen. So my question is, can I possibly unplug the digitizer only since the LCD works fine? That way I can use the keyboard dock's mouse or a USB mouse and still use the device. Thanks in advance for any help.
this happened to me as well. On youtube there are many tutorials of how to replace the screen..
they will show you how to take the back casing off
then you can just unplug the digitizer cable (its the yellow cable with two connections on the bottom right of the back of the tablet) this will disable the touch but if you go that far you might as well replace the whole screen you can get online for $50.
and make sure to take note of the digitizer revision number as asus makes 4 different types and only the one will work on your tablet when you want to fix it...its a number on the digitizer cable either g01 g02 g03 or one other i cant remember off the top of my head

Sorry, I meant that I didn't want to fix the display, just disable the digitizer so that I can continue to use the device via HDMI. If I unplug the digitizer, will the LCD still work?
After unplugging the ribbon cable for the digitizer, most of the random touches have stopped. But now, even using the built in touchpad or a USB mouse, touches do not hold and can cause random presses to occur in various parts of the screen. Any ideas?
I'm not sure but could be a different problem? I've done the same to mine and my keyboard dock works just fine

Spontaneous presses? This is at random, some tabs have it, others don't. That ain't from the keyboard; rather from either the digitizer, though detached it might be, or the TS board, or both in close proximity with one another. I've experienced this and still have no idea why. I've had perfectly good dig and TS Board do it when the board is left dangling and not screwed down to the magnesium frame. The only way to stop is to replace the digitizer. Or you can try to yank the dig's ribbons off the glass, as I've noticed ghost touches produced by a dig with partially torn ribbons (on the glass side) that were still connected to the PCB. The dig is not repairable anyways. You're risking nothing.

Not sure where to start. If you've taken apart the thing before, i'd be easier. Remove the back. Turn off the service switch (Important). Otherwise, you might burn a coil on the motherboard. If you don't know what that is, look at the top of the motherboard. To the left of the power switch (thin amber ribbon for power on top side and volume on right side), there's a switch mounted on the other side but accessible from the top of the board. You'll see the printing "off" and "on" on this side. Slide it to "off" position. (Thumb attached shows location of switch at top, and where the ribbons should be cut off at bottom).
The ribbon part that's taped to the glass is hidden under the lcd. If you don't care, just snip it off where it meets the lcd edge. There's really no need to remove the lcd if you're not intent on replacing the digitizer. Again, since I am not certain what caused the ghost touches in your cases, it's possible they will continue. Hopefully, they won't. But at this point, the digitizer serves no function other than protecting the lcd surface on the outside. No need to save the ribbons.
To tell you the truth, I've tried using the tab with a dock and no touchscreen. You can live with it, but it's enormous inconvenience any way you use the device, from recoveries to roms to any app within. It's just not designed to be user-friendly that way. I eventually gave up and replaced the digitizer. You can find one for around $35.00 these days.

Thank you very much for the information.
I don't plan on using it as a daily device, I just picked up my Note 3 the other day, and using the TF300 is going to feel like going back to the stone age. I really just wanted it to have basic functionality, because I still have the HDMI cable for it, and have XBMC and VLC installed on it, so I can play videos easily on my TV. It has Cyanogenmod on it right now, so really, it should be fine for a while. I could probably also hook up my dualshock 3 to it and game on a TV. Portable low-end console. I'll update the thread later if whenever I get around to cutting the ribbon cable. Thanks again.
Do any of you have this issue?
When you tap on the middle upper of the tablet a little bit hard it causes a vibrate clicky loose sound like the components behind are loose?
I only noticed it today and im sure it wasn't like this before or if it was not so prominent.
Im out of my retailers return window so if anything needs to be fixed I'll have to go to samsung.
The device functions ok but im just a little concerned the screenis coming loose or thr digitizer..thevibration clicky sound is quite annoying and i can't remember if it used to be there i think it might as directly behind where it rattles is the camera and above the battery and speakers. I just hear and feel a vibrating rattling sound which annoys me and feels like the build is poor. Can you guys try tapping the middle upper of your tablet quite hard or moderqtely and see if you have same issue?
What do you think has happend screen coming loose?
I think the resistive and conductive layers of the screen have come loose from the hard tapping.
If i hold down the middle of the screen and release it makes a 'sticky' sound. What is likely to happen if this continues?
From reading it says the resistive and conductive layers come in constant contact meaning it. Ould misinterpret commands.
Is it possible the screen is just loosened from the digitizer or is it more likely the 2 layers of resisitive and conductive layer are loose?
Does anyone know what this is?
It is so annoying in certain parts of the screen it seems to be looose hence the tapping. Is the glue loose or the screen coming apart?
If i lie it flat on a table there is less rattling when i type but when i put it in my case to hold it up the clicky rattling sound is more im just worried it's going to collapse at some point. Can anyone fathom what might be causing this?
It feels like the creen has come loose slightly in certain parts of the screen as if i tap on the opposite side across the screen it seems to c9rrect this issue for a few secs which leads me to think the screen is coming loose
Ive just realised now it's the back cover which is loose or the insides.
It seems by me pressing down on the front screen too much and the back of the tablet not completely heald down on a flat hard surface t has somehow caused the back cover to come loose of the parts inside have come loose by being forced back slightly.
Does anyone guess what is hppening?
When i flip over the tablet and press the back and tap the back cover on the right side it sounds loose and if i press on it there is some give like there is some space.
So ive identified what is thr cause of this and it's that my case which has rubber corners which hold it against the back of the backbpard leaves a gap between tge tablet and the backboard of the case cover. When i tap the screen too hard it causes a flex ehich unfortunately has caused the tablettobend and push the motherboard and insides onto the back cover which hss now flexed and stretched i presume? Or it has xaused the components to dislodge and misplace, can the back cover actually stretch this much?ithought it wad hard pladtic that retains its shape
I heard the tab s creaks also but mine is the back cover has stretched out fr8m within not holding the components snuggly if that makes sense. What is the fix for this?
Hey, when i receive and accept a call, my screen immediately turns off. Like it should when i put my ear up to it. But during the call i cant do anything to get the screen to turn on. After the call i have to press the lock button and unlock it again to get it on.
1) bootloader unlocked
2) custom kernel?
3) stock ROM?
4) rooted?
6) What version of the OS are you on? MM 6.0.1 / .511
7) This is recent, tried with 2 different roms so it isnt rom reliant i guess.
8) When in service menu and testing the light sensor it responds on my hand covering the sensor so i don't think its faulty.

Mostly, screen protector cause that. Second sensors might be broken. Software is the last thing (if comes with stock)..
Go to *#*#7378423#*#* service test and go to proximity sensor, if it stays "ON" something is wrong with the proximity sensor, if you are absolutely 100% sure nothing is blocking your sensor, have you ever changed your display assembly? try pressing down around the top right of screen with a little force, both front and back if it switched to "OFF" when you press your screen there's a slight gap between your motherboard and front glass.

Holy this is it. I had to get my front glass replaced because it was shattered, when i press the screen it turns off, when i block the sensor it goes back to on again until i press on the screen. Also my vibrator motor seems to not function properly since, it sometimes doesnt vibrate at all, and sometimes with very little feedback. Could this also be a result of the replacement?

It could be the glue is not settling in correctly and adds very little gap than original one, did you replace the screen yourself? Mine showed this behavior I then reheat the edges of the screen with hair dryer then put pressure around the screen with those black paper clips, reheat it again then let it cool for about 2 hours.
I'm not entirely sure about the vibrator motor

I bought this phone second hand and it had this issue, What I did was hair dryer and paperclip. and ..... try a more ghetto solution, which involves opening the back door, put some foam and double tape it near the camera module, there's an empty space. Make sure it presses the motherboard but not too hard or it will compromise the waterproof glue holding the back cover.
