As the title goes, I'm having a hard time with this. I already disabled deep optimization and adaptive battery but to no avail.
I need it on my calendar app but it doesn't work. I want to disable the optimization of the calendar app but I can't find it on the list.
I tried using Google Keep and Ike but it will only work ONCE. After that, the notifications on events and reminders will not work anymore at all.
Please help me.
I badly need it because of my work.
Edit: I don't mind using custom rom if its the only solution.
Device: OnePlus 6 (A6000)
OOS Version: 9.0.3
"Maybe" I can help...maybe. Are you using Google Calendar? If so did you know that you can setup Gmail to send you every morning (around 5 AM EST) what you have scheduled on your calendar? It uses my phone number which happens to be from a state in EST even though I live in CST. Oh well, such is life. I imagine it will send it to you at 5 AM your time.
Also, as you probably already know, you can setup push notifications, and or email alerts for scheduled items right from within your calendar.
Now then, as you mentioned, there is no entry for battery optimization in the "battery" settings...just like there isn't for Gmail.
However, if you go to settings>Apps & notifications>See all apps> Calendar - then tap on battery and make sure that "Background restriction" is turned off. Hope this helps. For instructions on how to have Gmail send you your calendar schedule each morning just Google it! Ironic isn't it?

Google calendar. I also tried using Google Keep & Ike, but to no luck.
Google calendar should work fine, with no optimisation or further changes
I am rooted and all my calendar notifications for google calendar and business calendar Pro 2 work fine.
In your case, something is problematic.
How many Rom updates have you performed with no factory resets in between?
Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
I only updated once from 9.0.2 to 9.0.3
I never had factory reset.
I will try resetting it.

A search has not fully answered my question. After having to factory reset today, I noticed my calendar (I input from the phone itself) did not sync with google calendar and back things up. I lost prior three weeks and next two weeks of appts. After looking through settings of the calendar app and the phone itself and messing with it, it still doesn't sync. Is there something missing? I noticed some others in the search had similar problems, but couldn't tell if they were the same as mine or not. Thanks!
stupid question but under your Gmail account you have calendar set to sync right? What happens when you tap the sync icon, does it sync or error out?

Yes the calendar is set to sync, when I sync it says it does. But again, if I check google calendar elsewhere, it hasn't changed.
Make sure you have your google calendar selected when adding events. The phone has its own calendar as well as all your google candidates that you have permission to write with. Perhaps you were writing to the phone's calendar instead of your google one?

Thanks, yeah I unchecked every car account excpet my google calendar and it still doesn't sync. Will see if replacement devcie does the same.
When I set an event-based automatic rule, it doesn't seem to work. This worked fine for me on the final developer preview build (and I think at least one build before that), but it hasn't worked since I flashed the final build. I did a full format and image flash to come to MRA58K.
The rule I have set up is for an exchange calendar, but I have tested other calendars. Another interesting behavior--which may be correct, but it doesn't seem right--is that the only Google calendars appearing are my primary calendars (I have two Google accounts synced). When I go to choose the calendar, all of my exchange calendars appear, but only the primary calendars for my two Google accounts appear.
Is anyone else experiencing this behavior?
I get the same problem on a Nexus 5X on stock (MDB08I). Although I have 4 calendars linked to my device, I am only offered one of these or all, and it did not seem to work when set to All Calendars.
No doubt there will be any update to fix it soon.
Thanks for posting. I'm glad to know it's not just me. Interesting it broke since the last preview build.
My searching for this problem just found this thread. I too am unable to get this feature to work, which is annoying!
It strikes me as odd that there aren't more people reporting this issue. If it's a bug, I would expect more reports. I only saw one other reddit discussion, but it appears to have been deleted.
I'm new to Marshmallow and I'm also struggling to get the Event rules to work, so I thought I would check in with one of the very few discussions on the subject. I'm on a Nexus 5 with stock 6.0 which was factory reset this weekend.
The weekend and weeknight rules work exactly as I expect. However the event rules ( even though I have chosen the correct calendar ) never seem to trigger.
I am wondering if it is something about the "Where Reply Is" value. I have chosen "Yes, Maybe or Not replied" but still nothing.
Am I just mistunderstanding the feature completely ? These are just normal appointments I have added into my calendar. Should I be doing something different when I create them to get them to be "seen" by the Event rule ?
Thanks,
Nige
i have the exact same issue - only shows one of my google calendars in the options, and doesn't seem to work. I don't "reply" to my calendar events, so I wonder if this is preventing it from firing.
I guess nobody has been testing this feature?
I can confirm the same behavior on a Nexus 6P, so it doesn't seem to be device specific or an update error.
I'm glad this isn't just me. I spent quite a long time separating my personal calendar from my work one so that I could have two calendars to use the event feature for meetings.
No dice
Edit: This is on a stock N5X
Same here on MXPE
I just updated my MXPE from 5.1.1 to 6.0 and I too cannot get automatic rules for events to work. I really liked that feature of the Moto tool suite and figured the move to DnD would be easy. I can see the exchange calendar that I want to watch but regardless of whether I have "yes", "yes or tentative" or yes, tentative or no" selected DnD never triggers on events in that calendar. Really hoping for a fix.
Anyone have 6.0.1 able to test if this is fixed?
Not fixed.
I have 3 accounts, so it presents me with 3 primary calendars to choose from. DND works for one of them , but not for the other two. Don't know if it's related, but the account that works is the one I entered first on initial setup, and it's the account I use for Play store.

Interesting that it's working for some but not others.
After updating to 6.0.1, my calendar list contains certain calendars that were not listed before, but my automatic rule still doesn't work. I tried deleting and recreating and saw no improvement. I did not test each individual calendar though, and the calendar I am using is an exchange calendar, so it certainly is not the first calendar to have been synced.

Moto Assist used to apply rules for my exchange account. However, with marshmallows automatic rules for events the rule is not applied. I have tried using all options for the response, deleted and created the rule from scratched all combinations. I really miss this feature and can;t believe there are not more reports of this.
DnD worked for me on my Nexus 6 running stock 6.0.1 with the February 1, 2016 security update using an exchange calendar. Switched to a Nexus 5X with stock and March 1, 2016 security. Now, DnD doesn't work with that same calendar. Such a great feature! I hope they fix this soon.
I amnrunning Marshmallow on a Nexus 6p, current version. the problem is still not fixed: i am able to choose only the first calendar or all calendars for an event trigger for automatic rules.

I recently acquired a Nexus 5x running 7.0 Nougat and I am having this same problem. I have several calendars set up for the same Google account. However, I only get options for My Calendar (which I don't use) and Any Calendar. In choosing Any Calendar, I am still getting interrupted during my meetings, which tells me my other calendars are not being included. This makes DND completely useless for me. I can't believe in all this time Google hasn't fixed this or no one has figured out why this problem is happening.... Anyone have any updates?

Update to 7.1.1
All bugs appear to be fixed with it.
I just got the upgrade to 7.1.1, but still not working...

One of my favorite features about the Motorola with Android was the Moto app, having it be able to be silenced or priority, based on any of my Google calendar events was key! I really want that back
I was having problems with the stock calendar app not picking up my reminders from my Google Calendar. Instead, I just installed the regular Google Calendar app however for some reason I am not getting any notifications for reminders. The reminders are definitely in the calendar, and I am notified on my other devices, however it does not seem to work on my Honor 8. Is there a setting I need to tweak to allow this?
Thanks.
Hi,
Do you have any issues with any other apps not showing notifications?

Everyting else seems to work fine.
Is there any solution? I have exactly the same problem.
Make sure you allow calendar app full access in settings. I don't use a Google calendar app on this device. But reminders in my Google account and pushed through as well as my regular Calendar app.
This was on Android 6 and now Android 7..
Side note I also have Google Calendar sync up in Google account settings.. Check your setting to see if there similar to my ones..
On stable Android pie., Gmail keeps notfiying me that I am being switched off push to 30 min updates for exchange. Anyone know why I keep getting moved off push sync? Very annoying...
Thanks
Same here. Although I noticed this behaviour on Oreo too. If you are using exchange for work emails like me then I suggest switching to Outlook. If you really want Gmail then disable battery optimization for it.

I tried to disable but Gmail is not one of the apps that shows up under batt optimization. How do I do that?
Was there ever any solution to this? Still happening on the 6T on the official stock OOS 9.0.12.
I don't really want to go to using another mail client.

Same here on my OP3. I don't want my work email to be synced every 30min. I need it to be immediately. Any solutions yet?
Hello, im loving my OP7 Pro so far - sadly i got one issue. I don't receive Notifs from Gmail... i enabled them all (the app does not appear in battery optimization so i cannot disable that). i got no issues with other apps. Im running out of idea.. i found a topic about the 6 and 5T but didnt deliver and sultion... anyone got the same problem?
i only see the mails if i actually open gmail.
I had the same issue with Gmail, I'm a Google apps user so have a service agreement with them, they managed to fix it at their end.
If your issue is the same as mine then you're Gmail notifications will not work on other phones too.
If they do work on other phones then you're issue is different to the one I had.
I hope this may help.

hello, thanks for your quick reply,
they worked fine on my huawei mate 20 x before.
so i guess the error is on a secret / hidden setting i cannot find
It's the deep sleep Android goes to. It's not showing in the battery optimization bc GMAIL is a system app.
Fix 1, Uninstall system GMAIL app with Titanium backup "root required" and install from the app store. It will show up in battery optimization then add to no optimize.
Fix 2, run "dumpsys deviceidle disable" w/o quotes in Terminal Emulator under SU "Root required" or add in into script and have execute at boot.
Fix 1 and 2 both worked for me before.
I installed magisk module, OxygenOS Gmail Battery Fix. It works for me so far.

It also doesn't work if I keep Gmail open and just turn the screen off.
So I basically need to root it to get notifications? Seems rather unintended no?
You'll need root to turn off Android doze or uninstall Gmail as a system app and reinstall as user app. That's the nature of the beast.

You can do it without root as well: Using Nova Launcher (or another launcher which can create activity shortcuts), long press on homescreen, click on widget and create an activity for: Settings -> Battery optimization (.Settings$HighPowerApplicationsActivity), open it, set to "all Apps" with the dropdown menu and it will show all Apps including system Apps. Then choose "not optimized" for Gmail

That's another issue then if it doesn't notify you if you send an email shortly after turning off the screen. Do you get notifications when the screen is on?
I found a great substitute for Gmail. Try Edison Email on the Play store. Notifications work great, and app is very customizable.

Same here. With activty launcher from Nova i can change Gmail to ''dont optimize''. But it will reset after restart...
Go to Settings / Accounts / Google / Account sync
Disable and reenable sync for Gmail.
This fixes it for me every time. Issue typically comes back after some Gmail updates (not after all updates).

Trust me when I say this won't work, it took Google 2 weeks and lots of bug reports for them to find the issue assuming it's the same as mine.
Please confirm you still receive notifications on a different phone.
If not like I had, Google technical support had to fix something there end.
Having the same issue on my S10+ .. I receive some notifications on one Gmail account - but it's hit/miss on the rest.
