Error while forwarding a call - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi,
I used to use call forwarding facility whenever needed without any issues. I am getting an error since yesterday. Check the screenshot. It shows up when I open call forwarding from the settings. If I click ok, then I am able to fill in a number but when I select turn on the same error shows up. The sim is in slot 1, in slot 2 using a sd card. I updated the phone via ota to the December security patch 4 days ago. Tried to call forward after the update. Is update the culprit? How to fix it without formatting the phone? I need to forward some calls on priority basis.
Thanks

Bump....

Ever find an answer to this? I'm having the same problem using unlocked LG's (G6 and G7) on AT&T MVNO's. No problem with call forwarding on our Moto X4 (Android One) on the same networks.

Call forward relies on correct APN settings and an undamaged , correctly inserted SIM card.
Also you cannot set up call forwarding with the wi fi turned on.

[Q] T-mobile One S won't receive calls

Hey everyone, I just got my One S yesterday and found out last night that the incoming phone calls aren't coming through. I can receive and send text message and make outgoing calls. Any idea if this is a problem with the phone or maybe a t-mobile outage?

Why don't you call the store you got it from or call C.S you just got it so anything wrong with it could be handled with them. Have you tested it yourself calling from another phone?

I just realized that wifi calling works. I also just called t-Mobile and after 30 minutes of diagnostics they told me that there is a network outage for new activations. Since it took them so long to figure out there is a network outage, I think they are full of it.
Are you still having this issue?
My wife just emailed me saying she was trying to call me but the call wasn't going through.
I was immediately getting calls when I changed my SIM yesterday...

When I first turned the phone on and called to activate my new SIM, tmobile made a test phone call to my new phone and everything worked fine. But now that I think about it, I think wi-fi calling was active at the time. I haven't received any calls today so not sure if the issue is still there.
This happened to me when switching telco, I got a SMS from new operator with a date but no time when my number would be ported. On that day I could make calls and send SMS but not get any calls. Turns out my number had been ported to new telco without me realizing this (I was still using my old SIM since it seemed to work to me.) After changing to new SIM everything was fine. All of this was on a desire though so might not apply to you ofc

Update: The phone worked for 24 hours and now is back to not receiving phone calls. Anyone else experiencing these problems?

Sounds like you have a bad phone, call CS or take it back and demand a replacement.

Calls not coming through - possible solution
I had this problem when I first got it.
First under settings->call->Use Internet calling - make sure you select Only for Internet calls.
Now go to wifi and make sure you are connected to a Wi-Fi network - then click the More menu listed under Mobil Network (three dots). If you have wifi calling enabled, go to Wi-Fi Calling Settings->Connection Preferences and select Cellular Preferred - otherwise you won't be able to make calls when not near a Wi-Fi.
Hope this helps - it took me forever to track it down!

The problem is i can make calls, just can't receive them. I don't think it's the phone as when people call me it goes to an automated message saying i'm not on the network. Even my voicemail doesn't work.

Problems Handling Phone Calls (Call Waiting, 3 way, etc.) Verizon S5 on AT&T Network

Problems Handling Phone Calls (Call Waiting, 3 way, etc.) Verizon S5 on AT&T Network
recently bought a used Verizon Galaxy S5 (SM-G900V). It came with the lollipop OS. My service provider is H2O wireless (on the AT&T Network. From the outset, I had problems with phone calls, text messaging.
1. When I'm in a call, I'm not able to dial (Like to enter numbers for automated systems).
*I solved this one by going to:
settings>applications>call>
Scroll down to DTMF tones and change setting to long.
2. When I'm in a call, I'm not able to click over to calls on call waiting. When I do try to click over, I still hear the original call for a few seconds and then both calls drop and I get an error message that says "no sim or invalid sim". If I don't answer the call, both calls drop and I get the same message. The same thing happens if a try to make a 3 way call.
3. If someone calls me and I try to call them back, the call redirects to turn it into an international call and the call doesn't go through.
*I solved this using an app called prefixer
4. If I try to text message someone who called me, I get an error message back saying the phone number is invalid.
I figured I would have to root my phone to be able to make some custom changes. I first had to downgrade to kitkat (android 4.4.2) and root it and then upgrade with root using some very helpful posts and resources found on this site (thanks). When I downgraded, problems 1 and 2 went away (for number 1, I had to change my network mode, but that solution didn't work when I went back to lollipop). After upgrading beack to lollipop, all of these problems were there, though I was able to resolve 2 of them, the other 2 are problematic.
I think theres a problem with the way the phone is handling the AT&T network signal since they have a different type of network from verizon but i don't know.
I'm will in try to install a custom ROM, change settings in service mode, etc. I just haven't come accross any info to point me towards the right instructions. Alternatively, I may trade or sell this phone ant get an AT&T based phone. What do you suggest?

Not receiving SMS from Oneplus 6

I switched from T-Moblie to Verizon and I thought this will phone not supported but when I switch the sim everything starts working perfect and I got LTE as well but I have the problem with the message, I can send SMS but can't receive any message. I did a factory restore and I tried different message app but the issue still exists.
Did you try the Sim in another phone? Something might just happened with the new sim.

I got connection problem or invalid MMI code error
I am also having the exact same problem except it's with a one plus 6t (TMobile unlocked) on Verizon. Any help would be greatly appreciated
If you want to receive text messages on verizon with the phone you must call their support and give them the ImeI number for the sim card slot using the phone so they can setup a CDMA-LESS profile on your sim. By default all texts go through CDMA which the phone has no support for.
Both the 6 t and OP6 will work on verizon but you have not choice but to call verizion to get TXTs fixed.
If you want the full details read here
https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/9upk4v/6t_verizon_sms_experience/
The CDMA-less feature is an available feature, meaning, unless the tech support person sees it as available for the system, he cannot add it. This is why some people get this feature added quickly by tech support and some people cannot. If tech support cannot add the CDMA-less feature, you need to tell them to look up on the network and billing system what the phone is showing up as. In 99% of cases once the IMEI is received, the network updates properly and the phone is registered as a OnePlus 6T but in the billing system it shows up unspecified/unrecognized. In this situation the tech cannot add the CDMA-less feature because he/she cannot see it as available. To verify this, if you login to your Verizon account your phone will not show as a ONEPLUS 6T. This means that there is a discrepancy and when the clueless tech is trying add this CDMA-less feature he/she doesn't see it.
The solution is to ask the Tech person to SYNC the network and billing so that the billing side can also see the phone as a OnePlus 6T. When this is done, and his side is refreshed, the CDMA-LESS feature becomes available. Once it is available, he/she can activate it.

At&t visual voicemail

I can't get visual voicemail to work on my phone. Talked to tech support and after an hour of trying to help me, they said this device is not supported by AT&T.
I tried setting up Google voice on this phone, but the phone won't let it forward calls. I just get an error.
Any help greatly appreciated.
What was tried for vvm?
Is it enabled in the dialer settings?
Not clear what the problem with GV is.
Try dialing *004*xxx-xxx-xxxx# (substituting your GV# for 'xxx-xxx-xxxx') to get calls forwarding to GV when your phone is busy or unanswered
When I use the *004*xxx-xxx-xxxx# I get "call forwarding connection problem or invalid MMI code. (1)"
When I try call forwarding through the phone app settings, I get "network or sim card error"
Reading online a new sim card won't fix this. I have reset network settings and rebooted. I've call ATT text support, but they have no answers and tell me this is an unsupported device.
So I can't get att visual voicemail to setup and because I can't use call forwarding, I can't use Google voice for their visual voicemail.
Any suggestions?

*004*xxxxxxxxxx*11#
That's the GSM code, works on AT&T and TMO, or at least did on my 3G phones.
Also seen **004*1xxxxxxxxxx# mentioned.

I tried both and get the same errors as before. You don't realize how much you miss a feature until it's gone. Standard voicemail sucks. Anyone else have a suggestion?
Maybe try 002 instead if 004?
(Though that forwards all calls. Could then deactivate with #21#)
Or the individual conditions using *67, 61, and 62.
https://www.geckobeach.com/cellular/secrets/gsmcodes.php
They worked with TF AT&T when I last had GSM, in 2015.
Also saw some posts suggesting that AT&T won't allow changes to Cinditional Call Forwarding from the phone now and to call to have them set/change it.
With the March security update, AT&T visual voicemail now works.

SMS Delayed and Calls go Right to Voice Mail

Using the device on T-Mobile. Sometimes I'll just get a voice mail notification - without the phone ever ringing. Tested from a desk phone, and sure enough it goes right to voice mail without ever ringing. If I make a call outbound from the Zenfone 6, it will always work. Then I'm able to receive calls for an unknown amount of time. I can reboot and get calls after the reboot, but they will eventually randomly stop.
SMS also come though delayed by hours. For instance someone sends a SMS my way at 2pm, I'll get it at about 4pm. If I send a SMS out bound, I then instantly get all the inbound ones.
Anyone know if I need to whitelist something in battery optimization? So far the Zenfone isn't really good at being a phone. - great at everything else though.
Check your apn settings I think I had to update the default to whatever BYOD APN settings are for T-mobile see if it helps you
Also had this issue on T-Mobile. If APN settings don't fix it, I'd go to Auto-start Manager in Settings > Battery > PowerMaster and allow your messaging apps to run.
For me, I'd get SMS messages only when my screen was on, and some weren't received from contacts, like it shuts the apps off after not using them.
Same here. I'm about to switch providers because of this. What rom are y'all using? I'm on LineageOS 16. @wreid23 can you post your APN settings?
Tried unoptimizing all the messaging related apps, no effect.

So I found that if I turn off WiFi calls come right through. I don't know what the fix is, but I guess that's my work around.

I've found the same to be true for me. Wi-Fi connection prevents calls from coming in. I can dial out just fine.
This is extremely strange since this phone is not even Wi-Fi calling certified and it's not even a feature. This has been my biggest issue with the phone so far because you never know if you miss a really important call.

Asus denies the phone could be the problem (despite the phone obviously being the only variable). I replied to that thread anyway, with my experience of similar lost calls on a Moto x4 with Wi-Fi calling enabled. Maybe it'll give some engineer at Asus a push in the right direction...
if any of you are rooted there is an alternative for now to enable volte and vowifi: https://forum.xda-developers.com/rog-phone-2/how-to/guide-enabling-volte-vowifi-v2-t4028073

I'm having the issue with T-Mobile 7T Pro, when I got the permanent unlock approval and switched to Mint Mobile sim is when calls went to voice mail, have you found a solution yet? Phone works fine if I use T-Mobile sim, but Mint Mobile sim in the 7T Pro is when the calls go to voice mail and text don't go out, if I put the Mint mobile sim into a Pixel XL all is fine. When I had to quit Mint Mobile becasue of this and go back to T-Mobile on prepaid again, all worked well.
The zenfone 6 is getting volte with the android 11 update so hopefully that fixes this issue
